Beware of this store! The sales lady lies and saves good stuffs for her friends! :( Today is 5/20. Went to Hot Topic just now around 11:45pm because my friend just purchased a few prismatic poster boxes here. When he was there, there were 6 other boxes available. He texted me and I got there within 5 minutes, but the lady said that the boxes were sold out yesterday. My husband showed her the text that someone just bought there. Then her story changed. She then said that the boxes were on the counter but were sold out earlier today. She asked us to go back at 1pm-ish because they "may" restock the boxes. It's just one lie after another. After we left, we saw her on the phone chatting. Looks like she doesn't want to sell to us. Will never go to this store again! Buyer beware! read more

It's always a pleasure shopping here. I never see the same people working, always different people every time. Nevertheless, they are very helpful with answering questions. Prices are the same as online unless stated otherwise. Started coming here when I noticed the Sanrio stuff and the T-shirts. From September-January they have Nightmare Before Christmas and other Tim Burton creations. When you shop here, don't forget to use the hot cash coupons they give you. Trust me, it comes in handy when you see items that you really want. If you can't find something you had your eye on, you end up finding something better or similar. read more

This Hot Topic location is located inside the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, specifically on the 1st floor that is right next door to Zales (close by the food court). In this past week, I have been to this place twice. For the first visit (this past Wednesday), I came by to pick up my on line orders (free ship to store, but shipping is not generally free). I walked in and told the first employee I saw that I was here to pick up my on line orders. She told another employee to go get them (she was about to get off her shift). Eventually this employee came out and brought out several boxes and went through each box with me to make sure that I had all of my items. Then he placed all of my items (out of the box) in a plastic bag (easier to carry instead of in boxes). This employee was very friendly and I appreciated that he made sure that I had all of my items that I had purchased. I appreciate his patience demeanor as I was trying to find all of the order numbers through my email (because I forgot to bring my order confirmation print outs... just sitting at home on my table... D'oh). From one of my orders, I had earned Hot Topic Cash in which I can save $15 off a minimum of a $30 purchase (on non sales items). This can be redeemable on line and also in store. So I decided to come back the next day to redeem my reward (the date to redeem the Hot Topic Cash did not begin until 11/2/17, thus coming back on Thursday). I picked up a few items and then had an employee help ring up my transaction. He was helpful in making sure that I had enough to redeem my reward. He also helped me to sign up for their loyalty reward program so that I can earn points for future purchases (I really should have signed up when I made my on line purchases, but I didn't for some reason). Overall, I have had 2 great shopping experiences with this particular location and am glad that I did not have a poor one, as described by my fellow Yelpers of their bad experiences. I will definitely be back to purchase a few more items here for gifts in the future. read more

I wish it was possible to give a 0 star rating. The employees at this location couldn't possibly care less about their customers. I ordered something off the website, a few days later i got the email with the tracking info. According to UPS my package arrived on 1/4/18 at 12:43 and was accepted at the front counter by Jess. I've called 3 times since then and have even gone in person to show them the tracking info saying it has arrived and they don't care. All they can tell me is "it says here it's still on the way" as they stare into the computer screen avoiding eye contact. I even talked to the girl named Jess on Saturday (1/6/18). I just called (1/10/18) and spoke to a man named Tim that identified himself as the manager and he couldn't have been less interested. I told him all of this and he kept replying "we don't have a Jeff that works here" even after I corrected that and spelled out "J-E-S-S." I don't know how long I have to wait for a package that already has clearly arrived and has either been stolen or sold to someone else. I've never ever had such a frustrating experience with a business and I will advice everyone to stay as far away from this place as possible. Unless your into having your money taken and being jerked around. UPDATE 1/15/18: I just called for a 4th time since the order tracking has shown it arrived in the store, they're still saying it's in transit (a full 2 weeks later). Great selection of shirts and pops always draws me in. I typically will drive a little further to come to this location since the staff is amazing. From top to bottom they are always greeting customers with a smile and make you feel welcomed. I don't even make it a few feet without being asked if I need any help looking for something. I love when you get great customer service like that. They always remind me if I have a reward to use and take extra time to find a pop I'm looking for even if it just came in or is buried on their wall. I've had issues with returns and poor service at other locations but this one is definitely my all time favorite. They're active on IG and always answer their phone quickly. read more

We decided to hit up the mall in Arcadia and shortly walked in to Hot Topic. I was aching to get a new shirt. Employees were very helpful and very non frightening looking. I was gonna buy a bandana but Greg pointed out that they sold "Emo Bandanas" and not the OG Ganster ones... He was right..... Headed over the the cashier and as he made a very funny and negative comment towards the "New Weezer" I told him I gave up on Weezer once I saw the video for "Beverly Hills"... Over many years we have purchased gifts for our kids in here, spending a great deal of $$$. I don't think I will ever return. I know that I do not look like the target demographic for Hot Topic. However I just left the store after some of the worst customer service I have experienced. Two other patrons in the store and two sales ladies were helping one. I had been looking for about 5 minutes, no one asking if I needed help. As one of the sales ladies (thin, about 5'7") was walking away from the patron with two sales people helping her I said, "Excuse me, do you have...". I got a very perturbed look and a quick "No" as she turned her back and walked away. Gosh lil' chick, I am sorry I bothered you. Don't worry as I will never enter the store again. I came in today to stretch my ears up to a 12, and I didn't wanna pay $18 for a pair of tapers that I'll grow out of in a month, so the girl with the blue hair found a list of tapers about to go on clearance and gave me the clearance price! I've been calling around local Hot Topics on the hunt for a HT exclusive figure. All the other ones were open to take my call, and this was on the list. So I call. Employee: *incoherent grumbling* Me: Hey, is this Hot Topic? Employee: Yeah. Me: Great! I'm looking for a certain [figure brand name.] Employee: *grunt* Me: Um... the [character name] [brand name.] Employee: .... what? Me: From [TV series]? [here I describe physically what the product looks like. I get interrupted.] Employee: *annoyed tone* Look, we're closed right now. Can you call back later? We're doing paperwork. Call back at [time. Which was 15 minutes later.] Me: Oh sorry about that! I used to hit up the Hot Topic over at the Santa Anita mall every once in a while for some much needed "accessories". Nail polish. Black nail polish. Yes, I used to rock the black nails, and it was awesome! My boy Nathaniel, don't know if he's still there, used to chat it up with me and give me the lowdown on the goings on. We'd B.S. about the scene, etc... He was a cool kid. I also used to buy the occasional non-hipster/douchy band T-shirt to represent. Been to many Hot Topics throughout my life and this one provided the best experience. 5 stars because TIM is the definition of great customer service. Walked in when the mall opened and he greeted me with energy. I mean crap, I barely have energy come noon time haha. Tim was super helpful, attentive and overall amazing. The other gal working was fantastic too (Chelsea? Sorry forgot name even after asking...). I was trying to find black pants and Tim went out of his way back and forth finding sizing, making recommendations and checking in to see how I was doing. Bought two pairs of pants and seriously just wanted to hang around to learn about Tim's life haha. He seems like a great fellow. Would definitely go back and visit this location again. read more

great customer service, she was a punk-rock chick, cute, with a tat on her arm.. with red hair. she was real friendly, those chicks, even at spencer's are more friendlier than the girls are work at wet seal, charlotte russe etc...& these rocker girls look better than the girls at the retail stores! and they are friendly? thats a huge advantage! -anyway, it was actually my first visit in over 5 years... after high-school i just thought this place wasnt for me anymore.. -i walked by and saw some shorts that caught my eye.. I forgot the name of who it was who helped me but it was a Caucasian dude with tattoo sleeves on both arms and blonde hair. He was very friendly and let me use both promotions on my purchase, thus saving me a lot of money. I love Hot Topic but hardly shop for the very reason that A.) it's pricy and B.) their coupons come every few months. I was able to combine the hot cash with their current Nightmare Before Christmas promotion. I know there's a big sign outside announcing the promo but I didn't even see it, yet this guy still informed me about it which made my shopping experience even better. I noticed other reviews saying that employees are inattentive but that was not my experience at all. They attended me too much to the point that I was trying to hide from them. So many different employees there approached me that day (sometimes the same ones 3 times!) I work retail, I know companies force their employees to greet and say promos but once is fine. I'm the type of customer you don't even have to greet, I'm not stuffy like the other reviewers on here. I'm a down to earth shopper, trust. If the company is forcing them to be that way, fine, but please tone it down a notch. One greeting and promo is fine, if I need anything I'll happily ask you. I had one of the most terrible experiences at Hot Topic and I will never shop with them again after it. I bought several items online, but I didn't care for all of them and it says clearly, both online and on the order form, that you can return to a nearby Hot Topic. I took all my items with me and asked to do a return. It was around 7p.m. and I guess I was talking to the manager of this store, there was one other person working, but nobody else in the store. She told me that she didn't want to do the return and could I take it to another Hot Topic. I said that I'd just like to return everything right then and that it was out of my way. She was getting angry and said "well, some people need bonuses and need to make their rent on time." I'm guessing that she wanted to make sure sales were up for that day, but seriously I'm just a customer, I have bills to pay and a job to get to too, I just wanted to do my return. I told her again that I'd just like to return them. She preceded to rip the bag out of my hand and as she was doing the return she was throwing all the items around the store...yes...this actually happened. I've worked as a cashier for several years and never have I seen or have the audacity to basically throw a temper tantrum. And this was the manager! She didn't say anything to me, just kept commenting to the other worker saying, "this is bullshi*t". I was near tears as it was and I left as soon as possible. When I got home I looked at the receipt and most of the items weren't refunded for the right amounts, but much lower amounts. And no tax was refunded. Overall, I was not refunded close to $50. I didn't want to go back to the store, it had seriously upset me so bad to be treated so badly by a grown woman. I waited a few weeks, till I decided that I wasn't going to be bullied out of my money and I called the store. I spoke to the same manager that had done the return. She was like "oh, yeah." like she knew that she hadn't given me the full amount on purpose. She said I could come back and she would refund me the right amount. I went back and she apologized for acting the way she did, with the excuse that she really needed her bonus. I just said okay and got it over with. And I haven't been back and I don't intend to shop online or in store every again. I don't care how much you want a bonus, getting so out of control and angry that your literally throwing the items around the store, I'm sorry, there is NO excuse for being that un-professional and rude. And I've been shopping with Hot Topic since I was a teenager and the sad thing is, quite a few workers at Hot Topic are rude and don't seem to know how to give customer service. There are nice one's though, not everyone is such a sour-puss, maybe this manager needs to take some lessons from them. read more

The manager here is a liar. I came back a day after to return an onesie that I bought (Item unopened and tags intact). Apparently all Halloween items are final sale. There were no signs on the rack, nor did the employees informed me when I purchased the item. I was hoping to at least do an exchange or get store credit.. The manager said she can do it if I CALL customer service and get their approval. Customer service told me that It is actually UP TO THE MANAGER if they want to do the exchange/return...The rep called the manager on my behalf to see if they're willing to do an exchange and all of a sudden the manager says their systems don't allow them to input such items back in to the system......Why make me go through all this trouble when, apparently you can't do an exchange/return in the beginning?! I ended up going to Montebello hot topic and they were able to give me store credit or exchange without problems! read more

Rushed in with only a few minutes to shop and use my hot cash. Was trying to decide if I should do the buy 2 get 1 tee free or use my hot cash, since you can't combine those promotions. That's when the girls suggested I use my hot cash on the BT21 items they had since it would be the only time I could get a discount on BTS items, the bt21 t shirts could not be used for the tee promotion. My daughter is going to the BTS concert in May and I was trying to decide between two shirts when they asked how much hot cash I had. I only had one, so the nice girls offered me some extra hot cash. I went in on 1/18 and looked around for a bit. No help, no "welcome", nothing. I found the shirt I wanted on a high rack and was clearly looking at it and pointing to it when the 3 girls at the front just stood there acting like I was about to grow 5 feet and get it myself. I walked over there and asked for some help. This girl with purple hair reluctantly grabbed the shirt for me, didn't seem happy to help. I walked up to the front ready to pay, purple haired girl takes over the register. Rung up my item, told me how much, and gave her a credit card. Without words she just hands me a receipt and pen, prints mine out, and stands there. Usually when I buy something I hear "Alright thank you" or SOMETHING when I'm done being checked out. But she just stared at me with a "what else do you want" look on her face. Whatever, I got my shirt and left. The reason I am writing this review: I bought one thing. One thing. A shirt. It wasn't busy at all in the store. And she forgot to take off the security ink tag. This is one of those times where I think to myself "you had one job!" So, now I have to go back to the mall and for my ONE item get this ridiculous tag off. I'll be honest, after reading all the reviews on here about the Arcadia Hot Topic and went in with serious trepidation. I had an online purchase to return and expected a ton of hassle from women with bad attitudes, poor register skills and a general opinion that I was ruining their day by making them work. I took all the bad reviews to heart because, let's be honest, the Arcadia mall is rife with employees like that. I got there pretty much right after they opened on a Saturday morning and there were already a couple of people in the store browsing. Walking directly to the cash register area, I saw that the employee (not sure of their position) was on the phone, but he smiled at me and gave me a gesture that he should be off in a minute. No worries! They had the Who playing on the sound system ("Squeezebox") and lot's of things surrounding the register / counter for me to look at while I was waiting. While I was looking around, I glanced at the name tag and I saw that said employees name was Timothy. I made a note of it in case he ended-up being like all the Hot Topic employees mentioned in the other reviews. He wrapped-up his phone convo quickly and professionally (it was business) and asked me what he could help me with. I explained that I had a return of an online purchase and he said, "no problem!". We chit-chatted while he processed the return, joked about being old (well, I joked about me being old and probably not a part of the demographic Hot Topic caters to). Timothy was so nice, polite, professional and friendly that I even signed-up for their card program. Something I decided a while back I wasn't going to do anymore. Anyway, I don't know if Hot Topic reads these reviews or not, but please commend Timothy on my behalf. Like I said, I don't know what his position is there, but he should be put on the fast-track to a promotion. He makes customers in your store happy and happy customers tell others about what a great store it is (like me, here on Yelp) and that means more people in your store spending money. read more
