The taste has been consistent for the last 3-4 times I have been here. The mango was refreshing. You just gotta make sure to mix the coconut at the bottom with the mango on top. The grape was yummy too with bits of real grapes in the drink. Although the sugar level cannot be adjusted, the sweetness was subtle mainly from the fruit itself. Totally recommended. read more

I love mangoes! Small little establishment but spacious inside with lots of seating. Staff is really friendly and helpful. They prep your order quick. Short wait time. I really enjoyed the drinks. You can taste a good amount of fresh mangos and it paired really well with the coconut milk. The jelly gave the drink a nice texture. The golden leaf tea tasted high quality. I ordered it with no ice and 0 sweetener. It has a nice floral flavor without any bitterness. Delicious with the salted cheese foam! read more

Very spacious! There's so much seating that you could study or hangout here all day. My friends and I ordered the wintermelon drink, but I got the hot version and it was perfectly sweet and warm. It was a chilly day and my throat was kind of irritated so I wanted something to warm me up. The temperature of the tea was just right! This spot also wasn't super busy the time we went, and drinks came out very quick. Also not a big deal, but one thing I noticed after sitting there for a few hours is I think warmer/yellowish lighting would suit this place better than cool tone. It would give a cozier feel though but its very well lit in there. read more

I had one of the worst experiences here. The employee named Tuyen was extremely rude -- she was openly cursing in Vietnamese while helping me, messed up my drink completely, and when I pointed it out, she refused to fix it or give me a refund. I left with the wrong drink and a really unpleasant experience. Totally unprofessional and disappointing. I won't be coming back, and I'd warn others to avoid this location until they improve their customer service. read more

My favorite brand in Taiwan finally come to San Jose. Cheer to the nice and neatly store that next to Tram cream coffee. I order chi-chi strawberry smoothie for myself and King of Mango Smoothie for my boyfriend. I would say the Mango is little bit too sweet compared to my taste. However, my bf still enjoyed it. For me I personally like strawberry smoothie more. The smoothie is very well-made and the jelly is super tasty. I 100% fall in love with this drink. I would recommend this drink to all of friends and yelper. read more

D R I N K S: 4.75/5 - king of mango + black pearls - oooo yummmm this is tangy and sweet and chewy with all the textures and toppings. if you're a fresh fruit lover + toppings lover like me this will be your new spot! some of my family members said it's a lil too sour but that's because of the grapefruit, and personally, I like it oolong tea - veryyyy strong tea, standard tasting S E R V I C E: quick service, no line at 4pm on a friday A M B I A N C E: very white and clean, good amount of tables inside read more

Macu Tea is located in a small, but busy plaza. It is clean, modern, and sleek inside. Not much service, but drinks came out in a decent amount of time. I ordered the Chi-Chi Green Tea (Salty Cheese Foam tea), Green Milk Tea, and King of Mango Smoothie (all with boba). The cheese tea and milk tea was eh - it was not that cold, even with regular ice. The cheese tea was a bit more creamier, but not much tea taste to it, while the milk tea was a bit stronger on tea and a bit on the bitter side, and could had been creamier. The mango smoothie was decent, but it has this strange aftertaste to it. read more

I stopped by after a dinner nearby to pick up a drink. Though they're known for their King of Mango smoothie, I opted for something else because the drink is fixed, meaning you can't change anything out (and I don't love coconut). I got the Yakult grapefruit drink with tea jelly since a Yakult drink sounded refreshing. It came out a few minutes later. I can't remember if I got 80% or 100% sweet, but the drink was super sour. I understand that it was going to have some tartness due to the fresh fruit in it, but it was not tampered down at all by the sugar. It was still drinkable, but it definitely wasn't my favorite drink. The tea jelly also didn't add much tea flavor and was hard to drink because it floated to the top instead of settling on the bottom. Service was okay. I was the only one there, but I wasn't acknowledged until after the worker finished what they were doing and then helped a coworker do something else. Generally not a big deal, but it felt a little odd, especially since I had been standing there waiting to order for a few minutes. I had also asked questions on the sweetness recommendation on my drink since I knew the Yakult would add some tang and grapefruits are tart, but I kinda got a non-answer that wasn't very helpful. I'd come back to try other drinks, but I'm not clamoring to visit again right now. read more

Starting with the service, the two people on the front counter were friendly and asked if we wanted a sample of their Ceylon black tea, 80% sweetness. I thought this was a good level of sweetness. One person said their favorite was oolong. We opted for the Tieguanyin oolong tea 50% sweet, green tea jelly, and cheese foam and Ceylon black milk tea, 50% sweet and boba. Gf liked the oolong as it had the deep earthy flavors she enjoyed. Good level of sweetness. The Ceylon black tea 50% sweetness with boba seemed more like 80% sweet which was good but above my sweetness level. Next time, I'd get 30% sweetness and boba. Boba texture is just how I liked it, a little bit overdone and chewy. Man, they load you up with boba here and I liked that. The place is now decorated with Christmas themed things but in general the place looks futuristic with its sparkly white walls. If in the area, we'd come back. read more

I got the Summertime Li-li tea which was a mix of fruits and tea. I believe the cashier told me it was a mix of passion fruit, orance, and something else. I got it at 50% sweetness and it tasted just right. It was really refreshing and quite enjoyable for any time of the day. I like a subtle taste to my teas and this was definitely it. They also told me that they do not use flavor syrups to flavor their teas and instead brew the tea with the fruit. The ambience was very Modern and sleek. The interior had a mostly white and wooden aesthetic with minimal additional color. This is one of my better spots to go to now! read more

I came here in a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. I ordered the Tieguanyin Oolong Milk Tea with coconut jelly. My first sip it tastes way too strong. It wasn't even the oolong taste, but something way sharper and it didn't taste good at all. It turned out to be the coconut jelly and I immediately asked them to remake the drink again without the coconut jelly. They first asked if they could just filter the jelly out, but I said its taste was already in the drink. After some hesitation they made me a new drink. The drink tasted soooo much better. It has a smoky flavor which is interesting, but you can get sick of it after tasting it too much. It was alright. read more

Came here around 7:30 pm on. Wednesday night, the parking area pretty packed but the store was not busy. There were two staffs working and the drinks took about 15 mins to make even though we were the only guest there at that time. The drinks are made in the back so you can't really see the process. They gave us our drinks in a clear cups which I was kinda bummed about cause I wanted the Snoopy cups because they still have the Snoopy events going on. I went to Macu tea in the Berryessa area and ordered the same drinks and they gave us the Snoopy cups instead of these clear cups. Golden Leaf Milk Tea: Got this in 100% sugar and Half Ice. The drinks look very white so I think they didn't give enough tea but I still really like this tea flavor cause it tasted roasted. I would give this a 9/10 because they added slightly too much milk vs tea. Sugar level for this is perfect though! Ceylon Black Milktea: Got this in 100% sugar and 50% ice. I would adjust the sugar lower for this drink because it was a little too sweet. Although we asked for 50% ice there was still too much ice in our drink. This Ceylon drink I would say tastes better than Sunright Ceylon so that's a bonus. I would give this drink a 7/10z read more

I called to order; however, it was a bit of a challenge understanding the employee. By the time I was going to order, I had already arrived at the storefront. The employee recognized my voice . He was welcoming and was sorry for the misunderstanding when I was trying to order. Def was echoed to try this place since my gf said this is her top 3 in Taiwan... so it's legit!! We ordered the ceylon black tea latte 30% sugar, chi chi strawberry smoothie and the wintermelon drink. Will go back to try other drinks! The place was clean. read more

New boba joint in the Paloma plaza and it's freaking delicious! My boyfriend and I stopped by the plaza initially going to a different store, but saw Macu Tea was opened. We love trying new places and decided to go here instead. First thing we noticed is, the store is SUPER spacious. It has a modern twist for decoration too and tables were clean. There's sooo many seatings, perfect for large parties. We came on a Sunday evening and surprisingly it was not busy at all. We ordered and got our drinks fairly quick. I opted for Winter Melon w/ Fresh Milk + boba. I usually like my drinks with very low sugar but this one was fixed sugar. It did come out a bit sweeter than I liked it but still a very refreshing drink overall. My boyfriend got the Chi-Chi Mango Smoothie which is also fixed. This drink is sooo good and has real mango chunks in it. It also came with green tea jelly which added another texture to the drink. So happy to see another boba addition to Paloma and we will definitely be visiting again soon! read more

Taste is very plain and a few balls (bobas), worst one in the area, not recommended, there are a plenty of others to choose

Finding myself needing some sugar in the evening, I stumbled upon this boba tea place. It was late, perhaps just before they closed, so there weren't a lot of people... a serene vibe that I like. But I suspect that would completely change during busier hours. Got myself the King of Mango smoothie, and it was pretty tasty without overpowering sweetness. At least when compared to mango smoothies from other stores. This place has the potential for 5 stars, but I will have to try a few other selections first. Will definitely come back! read more

The vibe inside was modern and minimalistic. Looked really pretty in my opinion because I like minimalistic type of things. The employees weren't very talkative or social which was fine with me because I'm not a big social person either. It was a little hard to communicate because the music was loud so I had to talk louder than usual. I got a yakult w/grapefruit drink with no toppings, 50% ice and 100% sugar. Honestly wasn't my taste because the grapefruit pieces made the drink bitter. I didn't get any toppings because I wasn't sure and they didn't have lychee jelly. Overall the place was nice and I will come back to try different drinks. It seems to me mango is kind of their speciality. read more

This plaza is not short of milk tea shops so when this one popped up it must be good in order to last here. Took a while but finally tried their drinks today and it's definitely good! I had the match latte, husband has the Yogurt green tea, my daughter has the chocolate tiramisu. The matcha is bold with a strong tea flavor and it was not too sweet. Much better than Starbucks. My husband and daughter love their drink as well. The store is nicely decorated and the gal making our drinks was super friendly. Overall great establishment and certainly a contender compared to the other milk tea place in the plaza. Must try! read more

I was excited to try Macu Tea because I heard Macu Tea is THE spot in Taiwan, so I figured it must be THE spot here in the Bay too. It was a really hot day when my friends and I visited Macu Tea place to escape the heat and dang seems like the entire Bay Area had the same idea because it was PACKED - we were lucky to find a table for all four of us. The long line moved fairly quickly though. Macu Tea was not the cleanest/orderly when we were there (tables weren't clean and stools were a bit disordered), but I feel like I could blame that on just how busy they were. Otherwise, I did like the interior decor they had going on! It was very aesthetic. Onto the tea though. I got the Bo-Bo Mango Smoothie ($7.93 with tax) as is, and it comes with hella toppings. A nearly $8 drink is quite pricey imo. While the mango smoothie portion did hit the spot, I did not enjoy the toppings that were in it - they didn't really go well with the mango drink to me. I would not get this drink again. My friend who got the Chi-Chi Mango Smoothie (around the same price as my Bo-Bo) had the same sentiment concerning the toppings, but enjoyed the mango portion and cheese. Also, one of my friends got the Grapefruit Li-Li with Honey Drink and she was extremely not into it. There was also a strange moment when my friend and I went to the counter to ask for the red cup holders we saw people receiving for their drinks (we asked for 4 because we had 4 drinks) and we received a lot of pushback until another worker came by and let us have them. I'm not sure if they have some sort of policy for what is eligible for red cup holders... It's worth noting that Macu Tea is located in a plaza, so parking is fairly easy. But all in all, I don't think I'd be coming back to this location again. read more

I wanted to order a drink for my kids and split it into 2 cups (my kids are small). I offered to pay extra for the cup and for splitting, but they refused. One of my new favorite places. It is so good and open till a decent hour! 10pm on most nights. I love the tea flavor. The menu is a bit overwhelming, but once you figure out which one you like, you are solid! The mango smoothies, regular milk tea and other smoothies are really good. Macu Tea is one of the newer boba places that opened up in one of my favorite asian plazas to go too! There was no line at all and there was alot of tables and space to sit and hang around. We got the Chi-chi mango, bobo mango, and bobo strawberry smoothie! The Chi-chi has cheese (creamy foam) where as the bobo does not but as crystal boba instead. Both come with tea jelly which tasted so good! It was very flavorful and very sweet and went well with my chewy crystal boba. It is a bit pricey but every boba is pricey nowadays.. its about $7.25- $7.50 a boba but it does come with ALOT of fruit and got me SUPER FULL. I think it's a nice alternative if you're not looking for any caffeine in your drink. The drinks came out really quickly as well. 10/10 will be coming back! read more
