We were again in the search for another boba shop. This time it led me to MacuTea. To be honest, I don't remember it but that's probably a good thing cause sometimes remembering a place means it's either really bad or really good. But I did ask my hubby and he's like it's good! So ta-da I'm sure we'll be back one day. L O C A T I O N On N Capitol Ave and Berryessa Rd, there's a plaza and it's on the side. There's parking that's shared with a bunch of other shops, but there's a lot of side walk in front of the place which is nice especially if they plan on having seating outside. I easily found a spot right in front of the place. I N S I D E There's a fair amount of seating inside. It's pretty clean inside. M E N U They have a variety of drinks and interesting options: Chi Chi (cheese foam), Li Li (fruit pulp), Fresh Milk, Brewed Tea, Milk Tea and Drinking Desserts and Specialties. Their toppings start at $1 which is a bit steep but I've seen other spots do this as well. They have an option to upgrade to 1L bottle which you can bring back and get a $0.25 off but it also said it depends on the drink. I got a Classic Black Milk Tea with green tea jelly. Again it's been a couple weeks since I had this drink, but as I said, I don't remember it being bad. So that means it was good. My hubby apparently liked his drink as he remembered it and said we'd come back again. S E R V I C E No one was inside or at the front so I used the kiosk to order. The drink didn't take very long to make which is fantastic. Easily paid with touchless payment. O V E R A L L For not a super busy place during a Wednesday afternoon, it's a good option as you don't have to wait too long. The drinks are good though it is a bit pricey for a standard black milk tea with topping being almost $8. I'd be interested in seeing how their other non-tea drinks are.
Came here after getting a haircut as it was suggested by my sister that it was good. I love me some mango and this drink did not disappoint. It was delicious. Can't wait to go back and get more. I ordered on a self kiosk and the drink came out relatively quick. There is some seating inside and plenty of parking spaces outside. Maybe next time I'll try the strawberry as suggested by sister.
Really good mango drinks! Came here on a weekend and they ran out of boba but luckily they were making another batch and we only had to wait 10 min. Ordered the King Mango and it was delicious. A bit more slushie than I'd prefer but that's just me. Would be back again to try their other drinks :)
Drink 5/5 I really enjoy the mango series from Macu! They use real mango blended with ice and the pleasant surprise that differs Macu from other boba places is the tea jelly they use as a topping! Ask to have cream on the bottom and every sip is well balanced! Service 4.5/5 It is usually not busy at this location and nothing to complain about for the service. They make your drinks right away and is helpful in answering your questions. Ambiance 5/5 Really like the minimalistic vibe the store is set up. Definitely seems like a place for you to sit and do some work too since it's not usually busy.
I tried this place again and it exceeded my expectations. I ordered the king of mango smoothie and the ruby grapefruit li li tea. Both tasted delicious and refreshing. The king of mango smoothie had chunks of mango and wasn't just a basic mango smoothie. The crystal boba was enjoyable as well. The ruby grapefruit li li tea had a good amount of grapefruit in it as well and wasn't just tea. The drinks were good quality. The staff was friendly and the service was still good. Definitely would come here again.
One of my favorite boba places in sj! I absolutely love love love the mango smoothie so much! It's so yummy and with the coconut milk and jelly it's just a chefs kiss! Parking is easy and they have seating inside. Ordering on the kiosk is easy and drinks come out pretty fast!
I ordered pick up via door dash and only had to wait like 5 minutes. I was bummed because they had a promotion to buy 2 drinks and get a free tea in store. I already bought my 3 drinks so had I known I wouldn't have ordered via door dash so be sure to check out any promos. The shop is clean and has nice tables inside. My daughter got matcha tiramisu and she said matcha was good but it was more concept of tiramisu lol. The cookie part was more of sprinkling and she felt the cream didn't really taste like tiramisu. My other daughter got bo-bo mango and when I asked she said she didn't taste any mango only jelly lol. So be sure to mix well but they really do jam in the toppings. I got the QQ black tea and it was perfect. The jelly was on the sweeter side or maybe I've been having bland jelly before. Definitely want to come back to try some other drinks.
We came for the Taiwanese boba milk tea since we like this chain from Taiwan. I got the tieguanyin milk tea with boba and we got the orange mango lili tea holiday special and a QQ passionfruit green tea. We liked the tea and there was an option to order on the kiosk or at the register and you can adjust you ice and sugar levels. Staff were helpful and nice. I just wish they scooped a little more boba in my boba milk tea, but would come back for their more famous mango or grape drinks next time.
Love the mango smoothie here! My favorite thing to get here. It's always good amount of sweetness and it pairs well with the green tea jelly. I don't care for Bo-Bo and they were nice enough to remove it and reduce the price of the topping too! We for the deal for two mango smoothies to get a free winter melon drink (also good). There's a kiosk to order but can also order at the cashier. There's a few tables to sit but it's not a large space if you have a large group.
Such fresh fruity smoothies and toppings! I tried both the bobo mango and bobo strawberry and I will say the mango one is way sweeter. The strawberry one is way more tart but both still refreshing. I loved the green tea jelly in it too. Such a good place if you're looking for something refreshing and fruity.
Definitely try the King of Mango smoothie! My friends and I love this place as they use fresh fruits to create their drinks and you can really taste the freshness. They have stacks of fresh fruit around the store so you know they use real ingredients. Give this place a try. I really recommend it! Easily one of the top 5 boba drink spots in south bay.
One of my friends spoke so highly about this place during dinner that we all made the trek to try it the same night! Located in the same plaza as Tastea, DD's discounts, and AutoZone. It's a small and quaint location, more for grab and go. 7 cups of king of mango later, we're all fans. You can definitely tell they use quality mangos in their drinks. Prices were a bit steep (nearly $8 per cup), but it was worth the treat. It was so good I went back the next day with my parents!

Macu is my favorite fruit tea and smoothie place of all time. No matter how many places I try, I always end up coming back here. The King of Mango is seriously unmatched. Omg, Hey Tea's Mango Cocoboom doesn't even hold a candle to Macu's King of Mango. It's that good. If you come during the summer or early fall when mangoes are in season, it's even better because you can taste how incredibly fresh the fruit is. The drink has the perfect combination of juicy fresh mango, creamy coconut milk, and tea jelly. Every sip is packed with real mango flavor, and it never tastes artificial or overly sweet. It's so refreshing and easily one of my favorite drinks ever. The staff are also some of the kindest people. They're always so friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about their customers. I honestly wish this place got more attention. They're not in the most visible location, so I feel like a lot of people don't even know they're there. They deserve so much more love because the quality is amazing and the service is always wonderful. If you're a mango lover, do yourself a favor and order the King of Mango. You won't regret it. read more

Cute shop that has a huge drink selection. Super clean, but restrooms were out of order. There were 2 staff, and you place your order from a kiosk. I ordered a brown sugar boba and a honey lemonade. Drinks were delicious but took a really long time to come up. read more

I would rate them 5 out of 5 for sure They have the best avocado smoothie i ever tried, not too sweet or too plain. Her topping is generous too. Also i love their customer service, they are very polite, friendly and sweet. You should give this spot a try!! read more

Chi chi mango smoothie! Must try. It's a filling and perfectly sweet treat and the cheese cream on top is thicker compared to other places like happy lemon. It comes with fresh mango bits and this herbal jelly that compliments the taste of the mangoes. Will definitely come back to try their strawberry chi chi smoothie and if that meets the same standard, this might just be my go-to place now. read more
From what I've seen, they only have NorCal locations at the moment, so fingers crossed that they'll start opening some in SoCal! I saw a recent post from an oomfie that they're having a Snoopy collab and I was going to be in NorCal for a con, so I HAD to get something! My boyfriend got me a large (not sure if they're all this size for special drinks)Cushy Snoopy Chi Chi Cocoa drink. We got this iced and there's a cute sleeping Snoopy marshmallow on top and the entire cup has perfect, Instagram worthy Snoopy art all over. To be honest, it's just a tasty iced hot chocolate, NOT choco milk, but hot chocolate. Yummy, cute simple drinks. No complaints from me. Would love to come back next time to try more of their non-collab menu items or hopefully they'll start moving down south. read more
I was in the area for dinner so I decided to stop by afterward for their drinks. The sign outside promoting the "King of Mango Smoothie" was so enticing that I had to try one. There are limited seating inside but it was nearly empty on a Thursday evening. Service was quick and I promptly got my drink. The "drink" involved more chewing than I expected but overall I enjoyed it. Can't wait to come back to try more of their menu! read more
I stopped by Macu Tea, and I was intrigued to try one of their other grape series drinks. Bo-Bo Grape Smoothie (4/5) - blended frosty grapes, jellies, and fruit pieces that make this a refreshing drink. I appreciate that they use environmentally friendly cups if you do takeout. You can't see the colorful layers of your drink, but it's a tradeoff. If you dine in, you'll be able to see what your drink actually looks like. LOL. read more

We ordered a black milk tea, tieguanyin oolong tea with boba, and a golden leaf tea with tea jelly. The milk teas were super sweet even at 50% and 30%, so then I recommend trying 10% if youre like me and dont enjoy it being too sweet. Boba was chewy and tea jelly was also a great topping. The golden leaf tea was not strong and a bit too thin for me. The black milk tea flavor was also okay. The star is the tieguanyin oolong and I highly recommend! The drink size is also huge. There wasnt much service aside from the employee handing us our drinks. Theres a self order kiosk so no comments on the service. The store is kind of plain and not very comfortable. The door was left open so heavy cigarette smoke wafted inside. It doesnt feel very comfortable to hangout inside. read more

Same plaza as Chef Liu's & Tastea. Drinks are yummy but I think the selection here is more limited than the one in East San Jose. This place is very clean and quiet. I think I can see myself having a better time talking with friends at the other Macu location. This location had Snoopy cups, but they did not offer them to any of my drink orders. The other location offered Snoopy cups though. read more

I love macu tea BAHAHAHAH. This my review of the Berryessa area. The place is more cozy and still keeps the clean white aesthetic interior. The snoopy colab was really cute too! Definitely recommend the drinks here. The mange king smooth was fire!!! The milk tea and other fruits teas are great too! read more
I came to Macu Tea simply because my initial boba spot was unexpectedly closed. Originally from Taiwan, this highly popular franchise specializes in fresh fruit teas consisting of REAL fruit. My order: *Tieguanyin Oolong Milk Tea + Chi-Chi Salted Cheese Foam *Yukult Green Tea + Bo-Bo Agar *Passionfruit Li-Li Tea [requested to be extra sweet] *Ruby Grapefruit Li-Li Tea Drinks are delightfully refreshing and not overly sweet. I appreciate Macu's teas actually taking like tea and not sugar water. 75% sweet is definitely my go-to style of ordering. Bonus points for Macu actually using fresh fruit when applicable- both the passion fruit bits and grapefruit elevated the flavors and provided with a nice difference in textures. 4/5 stars. This is definitely a good option whenever i'm in the mood for tea and am not willing to do much driving. read more

Omg!!!! This place is a hidden gem! Located on the corner of the plaza. I have been here on multiple occasions by myself and the quality has been good every time. I usually order the milk tea with boba but today I felt a little extra adventurous! So, I order the Mango & Orange Li Li Tea with 10% sweetness and 50% ice. You can literally see small pieces of mangoes and oranges in the tea! It is so good and refreshing! Highly recommended!! In addition, the place is always clean and super fast service! They also have music playing in the background that is soothing and comforting. I always feel so relaxed in here and listening to their music, just make me feel like the weight of the world is lifted from my shoulders. I can sit here and listen to music while drinking my tea, completely in my own little relaxing time. read more
Get the King of Mango Smoothie! The cheese foam (aka "chi chi") here is also amazing. We visited after dinnertime on a Sunday evening and was met without a wait. The section of the plaza they're located in isn't too busy, so there was plenty of parking which was convenient too. I'd say if you're looking for a place to hang out, this place is probably most ideal for small groups since there's only about 2-3 tables with seating. I ordered the King of Mango smoothie and it was sooo refreshing! The tea jelly was addicting and the mangos were sweet. I wasn't too big a fan of the pomelo chunks but it didn't hinder the drink at all. For the size of the drink, I actually thought it was super filling since I wasn't able to finish the entire thing lol. Service was prompt and the employees were nice! read more

I love love love their chi chi mango smoothie here! I think the cheese cream they have here is better than happy lemon. The mango smoothie tastes amazing, very clear that they put lots of fresh sweet mangos inside! The cheese cream on top is also so addictive and delicious, I could eat a spoonful of just that! The service here is so friendly and fast, they ended up making a bit extra of the smoothie so they gave it to us in a small cup which I thought was so sweet! Definitely one of my go to drink spots in the bay now read more
We tried the chi chi mango smoothie, tie guan yin milk tea with green tea jelly and golden leaf tea (no sugar). Mango seemed to be one of their specialties and it's my favorite, so I tried it with a bit of skepticism since mango isn't in season. The drink was just sweet enough (the sweetness is fixed) and there were small bits of mango in it. The cheese foam was not overwhelming and complemented it well (I usually don't like cheese foam). The tie guan yin milk tea was standard, reminded me a bit of TP TEA. The golden leaf tea was well brewed and overall easy to drink (not overly strong). The store smelled a bit odd when we came in (maybe like cleaning supplies?) but the service was nice. I'd want to try more of their drinks but San Jose is a bit out of the way. Hope they open more locations a bit north in the East Bay. read more
A tea place with merch is a good store. Drink came out fresh and refreshing on a hot day. It's a hot drink with ice. Full off boba and marshmallow guy here. They bring out drink in order and service was flawless. Plenty of seating with chill vibes. It's a good option for fruit drinks. I would go back and recommend for a boba ball lovers. read more
Went to this boba spot earlier, and I had to say it's pretty good. I was craving boba at night and was searching for some places and pretty glad I went here. I ordered from the kiosk and got the Tieguanyin Oolong Milk tea with boba. It was so yummy and have a nice flavor. I love how it has a creamy taste ^^ The other drink is Winter Melon Lemonade. My order was made pretty fast, that's definitely a plus. The decor looks pretty cool on the tabe, it's a really nice spot to get boba. I would come back again next time read more
[Drinks] - Matcha Latte ($6.50): I enjoyed this although quite pricey compared to other places. Not too sweet which I appreciate - QQ Passion Fruit ($6.75): A bit too tart and sweet for mine and my friend's liking, but we wanted to try it out since we've never had this before. [Service] - Friendly, helpful, fast [Ambiance] - Cafe on the small side but I assume most people would get take out instead of sitting in. - Usually lots of parking in the parking lot. Can get a bit busy during peak hours or holidays. [Overall] - Alright place for milk tea although they are in competition with Tastea being in the same plaza. read more
