I came at lunch time and here's my experience: 1. Ambience (5/5): it was surprised me because the inside was totally different from what I imaged :). It was big and very clean. The decoration was very elegant and bright. There were plenty of seats when I came. Hidden Easter egg:). 2. Service (5/5): we almost served ourselves using kiosks at the front. We ordered from the kiosks and got the food at the cashier counter. The staff were very helpful and nice when I asked for some water and a sharing cup. 3. Food (3/5): - Matcha with mango and honey boba (3/5): personally, I wish it had more matcha flavor. The boba was normal, and the taste was quite bland. One plus was the drink was not too sweet. - Chicken popcorn (5/5): it was hella good:). Very tender and flavorful. The meat was not too dry and it hadn't too much flour. One plus was that it had skin, so yummy. - Calamari rings (3/5): I thought they would be some thick, circular rings like the ones I've had at other places before. It was quite chewy and not too fresh. By the way, I liked the squid tentacles. - House special sauce: good, matched well with the fried food. I was in the neighborhood and needed a boba fix so I decided to stop by. The shop is located in a strip mall close to the City Sports gym. It's on the side of the gym and there's a very close driveway on Oakland Road if you can spot it on your maps. So I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea with Honey Boba. Overall the drink was good and I would have independently given it 4 stars. However, I'm only giving it 3 stars because the guy/kid at the register was sub par. It looked like he didn't want to be there. I had a question about the differences between some of the boba offerings and I didn't get a great answer. There was another person there also and she brought out a food order for some other patrons. She also didn't exude customer service skills nor look very enthusiastic. Personally, floral flavors just don't do it for me. Would have been nice if that was indicated on the menu more clearly somehow. That's more of a personal preference thing, though. The bigger issue was that I asked for my drink to be 50% sweet. When I got my drink from the counter, the first couple of sips were intensely sweet, and the remaining drink wasn't sweet at all. I even gave the cup a swirl for good measure before I put the straw in! I'm used to most places thoroughly shaking/mixing their drinks when they hand it off to a customer. I came to Bobaholics to try their new matcha series after seeing it hyped up on social media. I ordered the Banana Cream Matcha in their smallest size (16oz) for $6. I almost placed the order online but luckily I didn't since they charge an extra 25 cents for online orders. The drink did take ~13 minutes to make which is kind of long considering there wasn't a lot of orders. The drink was NOT good. It was super watery and definitely needed another scoop of matcha. I couldn't tell if the matcha was good quality or not since I could barely taste it. The banana cream itself was decent, but nothing special. I've had a lot of banana matchas around San Jose but this one ranks at the bottom of my list. I was VERY disappointed since social media hyped it up AND this is the closest boba shop to my work so I was hoping to be a regular. Unrelated to this visit, but on a previous trip, they messed up my food order. I got the snack sampler, but they forgot to include the crab rangoons and didn't give me a chance to substitute them with anything else. Overall, I was really disappointed with their drinks. I am basing this rating on the flavors I ordered and the taste. I ordered from a kiosk so I did not have any interaction with the boba makers to make any comment about service. However, I can say the order came quickly. I unfortunately did not take pics of the drinks itself but I ordered a few drinks. The Egg Cream, 0% sweet, extra shot, less ice. This drink still has sweetness to it which was probably the condensed milk. I also got a Vietnamese Coffee, 50% sweet, no ice. I ordered the Dubai Chocolate Matcha (through DoorDash): 16oz, 50% sweet, oat milk, regular ice I appreciate when a boba spot offers milk subs so much!!!! The drink itself does not give matcha at all. The Dubai chocolate and tiramisu are def the dominant flavors in this so if you're wanting matcha perhaps add more matcha. It really just tastes like a mocha. I really liked the little bits of crunch you get from the Dubai chocolate for the added texture. When you order less sweet. It should have a stronger taste of tea right. Tell me why it tastes like sweet water? It's weird that the trash is always full and when you tell them the trash is full, and you don't want to play a dancing act game with straw wrappers tell you throw your trash outside which is also always full with their cups too. Also, weird that they don't have a trash by the door, you have to walk to the back to throw stuff away. The sauce just had the right amount of sweetness with a hint of brown sugar flavor. The croffle had sugar coating, crispy on the outside and still soft layers of thin dough inside. Also had the Brown sugar milk tea which is my go to drink here.
