The ambiance is a bit minimalist but you may like that. This isn't your standard bowl of chips and salsa on every table with a margarita machine going in the corner. The food was very good, but the menu wasn't your standard burritos, carne asada, etc. We had some open face tacos with ribeye and chorizo sausage. GREAT! There was also some salsa macha on the table and we dipped our sourdough slices in that. REAL ZIPPY and good. I bought a jar to take home. The owner was super friendly and happy to share any info about the dishes. I would be happy to come back and try some new things. read more

This is what I love about Yelp by providing great options. The reviews were very promising. I had no idea what to expect from a Peruvian Mexican Fusion restaurant. This was our first experience with Peruvian food and it was amazing! We didn't know what to order so we entrusted the waitress decide for us. She did not lead us astray. At the end, she asked what our favorite was and it was like asking which child is our favorite. They were all amazing! We were a party of three. The guys had beer while I enjoyed the homemade sangria. I let them taste it, but that's it. I refused to share anymore! We got three different dishes and shared them all. It was so amazing, that we had to try out the desserts. Everything is homemade and made with passion and love. The restaurant is own by a married couple. We were so fortunate to have the owner be our server. She truly made the meal become an amazing experience. We loved her stories and could feel her passion. Come to find out they had a promising write up in The Indy Star. Please consider supporting this local family owned restaurant. It was worth every penny! I love supporting local restaurants. We need more restaurants like this. Now, how do you pronounce "Macizo?" read more

It was a warm fall evening, the kind that makes you want to slow down, connect with friends, and try something new. That's exactly what I did when I stepped into Macizo for the first time. From the moment I walked in, I felt something different. I was welcomed with genuine warmth--the kind you don't usually get on a first visit. Within minutes, I had a refreshing drink in hand and a sampler of some of Macizo's favorite dishes on the table. As I settled in, I had the chance to talk with Luz, one of the owners. Whenever I dine out, I like to hear the story behind the restaurant--why it exists and what message the owners hope to share with their community. Luz's story did not disappoint. She and her husband, Omar, fell in love and dreamed of creating a place where their cultures could meet at the table. Their vision? A restaurant that blends their favorite dishes--Mexican and Peruvian--served with hospitality that feels like home. And let me tell you--it's not just a beautiful story. It's a phenomenal dining experience. Every dish I tried was fresh, flavorful, and presented with care. The kind of food that makes you pause after the first bite and just enjoy the moment. Luz also shared that many of their dishes are safe for people with gluten allergies. For me, that was a game-changer. It means I'll be back soon, this time with my wife. A restaurant that creates food she can safely enjoy--and that's this delicious--is one we absolutely have to experience together. When I left Macizo that night, I wasn't just satisfied with a great meal. I was grateful--for the story of two people who turned love into a dream, and that dream into a restaurant where heritage and hospitality come together to create something unforgettable. If you're looking for a pleasant surprise, this is it. Imagine the best of Mexican and Peruvian cuisine brought together in one place--where every corner reflects the heart of its owners, and every bite tells a story. If you visit Macizo, and. I hope you will, you must check out their in-house, freshly made bread. You will definitely want to take some home with you! read more

We've been following the construction of Macizo Restaurant on the Northwest side of Indy at Intech Commons. Located in the strip center with free parking. Today we stopped for lunch and we weren't disappointed. The owners explained Macizo Restaurant offers a unique fusion of Mexican and Peruvian cuisine and known for their from - scratch dishes. The wife prepares most of the from - scratch dishes while hubby prepares the breads from scratch. The average prices range from $15 - $27 and loafs of focaccia or sourdough bread is $10. 8 oz. jars of delicious salsa is $12. My husband ordered the 5 Mexican meatballs in the delicious guajillo sauce and served with focaccia bread. He loved the meatballs and the sauce. He ordered a beer and I had a glass of wine. I chose the Pasta Huancaina in the huancaina sauce, lomo saltado sauce and sourdough bread. I enjoyed the pasta and sauces thoroughly. Service was excellent and both the owners were personable and very proud of their new business. I look forward to returning. read more

Macizo is a gem and will be a staple when I want to bring friends out! The service from the owners is so friendly and kind. I love their story of fusing their two culinary backgrounds and you can tell the food is made with the utmost consideration. The portions are pretty big and filling. The interior is spacious and inviting. Absolutely loved the food and our experience here! Try the purple horchata as well and it was so delicious! read more

Always 5 star on every visit over 10 visits food is phenomenal. Try the tiradito never a wrong move!

Loved it! The interior is sleek and super clean. They have only been open four months. We were told they are still working on the decor. The staff is spectacular! Kind and attentive, but not over bearing. We had a girl lunch and didn't mind that we sat for a long time to talk. We all offered something different and all were delicious. Very fresh and tasty! I had chicken tamales. They tasted different from any other tamale I've had. The corn masa was ground finer and a lighter color. Plenty of chicken and a bit of verde sauce on each one. Three in the order. Also ordered was the steak burrito that came with a side of beans and the enchiladas verde. Everyone was pleased! A load of sourdough bread was purchased to take home. Also a small taste of the sangria, which we will be getting on a future visit. The macha sauce, which they make, added extra zip! read more

Holy cow, where to begin? Nothing but rave reviews for this place. It's off the beaten path, far back from the road and just outside of 465. I hope word of mouth helps this place stay alive because the food and drinks are outstanding. I had the Pasta Huancaina, which is a great example of not judging a book by its cover. It looks like pasta covered in Velveeta sitting on a pile of thick brown water. Do not be fooled. The "Velveeta" is a mildly spicy aji amarillo pepper sauce and the brown is a lomo saltado sauce similar to a poutine gravy. They combine to make a rich and creamy pasta dish, with the pepper cutting the spice enough from making the dish too heavy. Add in their house made crusty bread and it's a perfect meal. If it isn't spicy enough for you, they have a house-made Salsa Macha to add some extra heat. Service is wonderful and helpful including one of the lovely owners who came to our table to deliver cocktails and explain the menu and restaurant history to us. read more

One of the best restaurants in Indiana. The food is so well crafted, balanced in flavor, and original. I can't think of another place that prepares food like this. The dishes are familiar, and the taste is wow. Sopa criolla, enchiladas verdes, torta de carnitas, and huevos con mole were all very good. The huevos con mole was a great vegetarian option. It was flavorful, savory, and the red and green moles were fantastic. The house made sourdough bread served with it was fantastic. The salsa macha, a condiment served with the meal, was so very good. Spicy, but the flavors are amazing. We had to leave with a jar of it! The dessert we shared, +HIZO bread a la mode is a must get. I may order one all for myself next time I go. It's that good! The dishes were refined, ranking right up there with high-end restaurants, without the high-end prices. The food was approachable, it felt like we were dining in their home. The service is impeccable. From the welcoming greeting right when we walked in, to the friendly server, and meeting one of the owners, who checked in and shared stories about their passion for food and the dishes. She walked around to all tables meeting the diners. Overall, a great experience. It's the kinda place you know you can go back to and can always count on having a quality meal and great experience. read more

I went for my first time ever. I will definitely be back for their flour tortilla topped with beef and potato stew. It was the most flavorful stew I have had ever! Everything else was great. I enjoyed their red sangria. Squeezing the lime in it really added some great flavor. I got to meet both husband and wife owner and will give them more business sometime in the near future. read more

Macizo just got nominated for a James Beard award so we had to check it out! They also had an amazing deal during Devour Indy - 2 people for $60 and that including a drink, a shared appetizer and dessert, and 1 entree each. The menu is simple and not as expansive as other Mexican restaurants, but that speaks to the level of quality here. The vibes are simple and all the workers are so friendly. We started with sangrias and they were delicious! For appetizers we got the queso and it was loaded with corn and poblano peppers, and I loved that they served it with this amazing homemade bread instead of chips. For the entree I got the chicken enchiladas and that was also pretty good although the chicken could've been a little more flavorful. We added some homemade chili oil to it for an extra kick and that made it perfect! The dessert was by far my favorite - a pear pound cake which was served warm with some ice cream and topped with pistachios, so unique and delicious! read more

What a fantastic restaurant. This may even be my new favorite place! First off, the food is amazing. Everything I've had so far has been both unique and exquisite. It makes me want to order the same thing every time but I'm trying to be good at trying all the different options. Even better than the food are the owners (Mexican & Peruvian, hence the food) + waitress. Extremely nice, very hospitable, and they take the time to truly get to know you! They seem always happy to chat in English or Spanish if you know it. Parking is super easy, the decor is bare but efficient, and I would go back every week if I could!! (Oh, also, the husband/owner makes his own sourdough that you can buy! I bought a loaf and it is SO GOOD). read more

This is a terrific Peruvian/Mexican restaurant in a little strip mall just off the interstate. The married owners are Peruvian and Mexican so they decided to combine their 2 culinary cultures in this little restaurant. The inside is much nicer than the strip mall vibe you get from the outside. I tried some of the Peruvian food this time. Next time I'll mix it up and order some Mexican. But whatever food I get, I will definitely be ordering a bubbly drink again. They are traditional Peruvian alcoholic drinks that have an extra smooth texture due to the milk. Be sure to ask about them. The owner may come out and tell you about the extensive process to make them. read more

This is one of the best choices in Indy now. We had the Sopa Criolla, a perfect hot soup for a cold winter day (or any day for that matter!), with small bits of beef, potatoes, and angel hair pasta. The soup is creamy (not spicy but you can ask for a chili based oil if you want to add heat) and infused deliciously with Peruvian aji panca chilis. Topped with a fried egg, the luscious runny yolk elevates the dish even more. Served with a generous slice of house-made toasted sourdough bread. The Burrito de Lomo Saltado is also a nice choice and has an interesting blend of Latin and Chinese flavors and is accompanied by a bowl of their bean salad. Luz, our server and one of the owners, is delightful and welcoming. She will happily explain the menu if needed. The restaurant itself has a warm and casual feel. Plenty of parking in front. This was a superb experience and I look forward to returning..... although it will be a challenge to not order the Sopa Criolla again! read more

I had been meaning to try Macizo for awhile since I had been hearing good things and couldn't believe they were hiding in the strip mall at 71st street and 465. I drive by here all the time! A friend and I shared the guacamole bowl which was fresh and a huge portion that would easily serve at least 3 as a starter. We had a side of focaccia and sourdough bread which was fresh, warm and delicious and went well with the guacamole. The purple horchata was delicious and not overly sweet. For my entree I had the Enfrijoladas which were filled with flavorful carnitas and covered in a wonderful smoky bean sauce. Even the tortillas had great flavor. We were pretty full but still shared the seasonal cake and ice cream which was excellent. The flavors were amazing and we liked that the cake was warm but somehow the ice cream wasn't melting all over the plate. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is casual and bright. It was pretty quiet on a Thursday evening with only a few tables occupied the whole time we were there. They close at 8pm and we arrived around 6 departing a bit before 8. I hope this was an unusually quiet night as the food was wonderful! If you're driving around on 465, this is literally right off the exit ramp. Parking is free and plenty in the strip mall lot. They have takeout as well if you don't have time to dine in. read more

If I could rate Macizo 1000 stars, I absolutely would. Incredible, I can't say enough great things about this place, the food, and the people! We went the evening their James Beard nomination was announced, so it was understandably very busy, but even so, the staff were one of the best parts - so kind, friendly, and attentive to everyone's needs. The food was also amazing (fruit with chamoy one of my favorites). Places with great food often lack with good service, but I would suggest that the service here is one of the best parts. Great ambiance, incredible food, and overall 10/10 experience. We will be back to try the rest of the menu. We haven't felt this satisfied after a meal for so long; good vibes, good food, cute decor - better people. read more

We had a wonderful experience during our recent visit to Macizo's. We received a friendly greeting as we entered the restaurant. Sandra was our server and she was extremely attentive, informative and absolutely delightful! The food was exceptional! It was full of flavor and large portions. We had the enchiladas verdes and the torta de carnitas. Both entrees were delicious! We also had a side of sourdough which was a perfect complement to the meal. We shared the pear pound cake ala mode for dessert. It was warm, moist and absolutely delicious! We even purchased a loaf of the sourdough bread to take home. This was an exceptional dining experience from the friendly, efficient service to the delicious food all in a comfortable setting. We look forward to our next visit! read more

Macizo's a Must! A foodie friend and I loved our experience at Macizo Restaurant last night. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the proprietress was a delight. I highly recommend a meal at this new spot on the northwest side, in Intech Park. Start with the Tiradito... a tuna appetizer topped with a creamy, citrusy, wonderful sauce. The crunchy roasted Peruvian corn on top would make a delicious snack all by itself. If it seems a tad pricy at $27, it's totally worth every penny. My companion and I took the advice of Luz, our charming host, and ordered sangria (choose from red, white, or rosé). My red was infused with blackberry and was refreshing and sweet. The white was a peachy blend and very enjoyable. We made it just in time for happy hour, which was a pleasant surprise. My Mole Enchiladas were outstanding... the mild shredded chicken absorbed the deep, smoky-fruity-chocolaty sauce. According to Luz, every Peruvian family has their own Mole recipe, and this is the one handed down from her mother. My companion's Sopa Criolla was absolutely delicious, and was presented beautifully with a slice of home-made rustic sourdough. Think of it as a Mexican version of ramen... a hearty broth filled with steak, noodles, potatoes, and a fried egg on top. That's probably what I'll order next time. Dessert options are limited, but we ordered the Flan and enjoyed it very much. It was mild and eggy, with notes of vanilla. I would have liked a spoonful of caramel sauce drizzled over the top, but that's a small quibble. There was a slight misunderstanding regarding the other dessert available... I thought our server said it was a peach-flavored item, but it's actually a pear poundcake topped with ice cream. I love pears, so that's definitely on my list for next time. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, and the smell of baking bread hit my nose the moment we walked in. We were warmly greeted, and were checked on regularly throughout our stay. The decor is a bit sparse, so don't go just for the ambience. Instead, go for the great food and for Luz's stories of time spent in her mother's kitchen. read more

I normally stay downtown when I come to Indianapolis but ended up staying in Carmel this time. After asking the hotel what their favorite restaurant was, they told me I had to go to Macizo. After walking in I was immediately greeted by Valentin, he walked me though the menu, told me I had to try the focaccia and the tiradito. The focaccia was amazing and dipping it in the tiradito sauce and salsa macha took it to the next level. BUT, the Tiradito stole the show, it is the single best item of food I have ever had Indiana and I 100% will be coming back any time I am in town. In addition, Valentin was a phenomenal server, attentive and friendly but not overbearing. I felt welcome the moment I walked in, the staff was extremely friendly and it felt like they knew everyone having dinner even if it was your first time in. I could not recommend Macizo more, I had a fantastic experience on every level. read more

The owners' enthusiasm and love of their craft shows up in the food. So often a lot of food tastes like it was sourced from GFS or Sysco. New owners are applying their combined culinary specialties to new menu... examples include Huancaina made with pasta, as owners grandmother would do, vs potato dish in Peru. The menu is for sharing, with small plates similar to a Tapas bar, but to explore tastes and texture of food with others. They are still creating menu for single person dining (aka lunch menu) but I will return soon to try tamales. Enchiladas were very good, mole sauce was rich thick and probably more than enough for me but I found a way to finish. It was really tasty. read more

I wondered what this restaurant would be as soon as I saw the name up on the building. I am just now getting the chance to try it and I am not disappointed at all. I walked in to an empty restaurant, that was bright and welcoming! The music was playing and it was nice. The server was happy to greet and seat me..and was so excited to tell me about the menu. My second visit to this family owned Peruvian restaurant on the Northwest side. The menu isn't big but having heard great things about the soup it was already on my mind and sounded great after a short but cold hike at nearby Eagle Creek park. I treated myself to the mole latte, which came cold from nitro brew. It was delicious, with a little kick that hit late. My friend ordered the purple horchata, a solid choice. The Sopa Criolla was the perfect thing for a cold day. With beef, potatoes, noodles and an egg on top. I added some of the chili paste brought to the table to give it more of a kick-the soup on its own is flavorful but not spicy. My friend got the tacos, and loved the cheese placement between the two tortillas. I believe the owner took our order and checked on us; she was super sweet and appears genuinely happy to host her customers. Fantastic food, great prices and delightful service-I can't say enough nice things about this place. Try it. read more

We really enjoyed our meal! What a nice family business. We really enjoyed talking with Luz. We got to try a little of everything - sangria, guac, the corn dip, the tacos norteno, the enchiladas, and the pear pound cake! Sangria was excellent. Guac was delicious - served with focaccia which was unexpected, but we liked it! The corn dip needed a little more flavor, but when we added the spicy sauce that they bring to the table it was perfect. The enchiladas were awesome. The pear pound cake was very good, but I would have loved some sautéed pears with it! It didn't taste like pear at all. Still tasted good though. We were impressed! read more

Macizo Restaurant - Sangria - Peruvian Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Macizo is Indy's best hidden gem on the rise! I have to place it in my top 10 favorite restaurants in Indianapolis. I went with a peruvian friend, and I am mexican and Luz and her husband (owners of Macizo) took us back to our home countries with these two plates. I cannot recommend it enough!! We had the tiradito, which is like a peruvian sashimi. It was my first time trying it and I fell in love! The sauce was extremely flavorful and the fish tashed so fresh. The mole enchiladas were delicious, the consistency and flavors were just homey and I could tell it was made from scratch It was like eating at my grandmother's house in Mexico! By far best mole I have had in a restaurant in Indy. I also had the ube horchata as a drink, and I can really tell that the horchata was homeade from rice and milk and cinnamon! We finished with the pear pound cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and pistachios. The pound cake came out warm and moist, perfect amount of sweetness and the ice cream on top of it completed it. honorable mention: sourdough bread! Luz was so sweet and walked us through how the menu and restaurant came to be. Such a beautiful family with perfectly thought out menu representing and complementing both countries in their dishes.
