I visited Luxor for the first time for scheduled pedicures with a group of my friends. They definitely overbooked themselves a bit, but it was honestly the best pedicure I've ever received! I chose the gel pedicure package which included a refreshing exfoliation, a relaxing calf massage, and of course, the typical cut, file, etc. this package was $43, but I honestly didn't feel like it was overpriced for the service we received. They had SO MANY colors to chose from organized in nice little binders. The staff was very kind, and they made sure all four of us were able to sit together. I did have to wait about 10 minutes to be able to sit with my group, but it was worth the wait. Overall, it was a great experience, and I definitely plan on returning for my pedicures in the future! read more

I have been going here for years, but never again. I came in today with a friend to get an acrylic fill with gel polish. All started well, but towards the end of my appointment I noticed that there was some discoloration and lifting from the previously existing acrylic. I mentioned this to my technician and he did not fix it. When I left an unhappy review, he told me to come back so that he could fix his mistakes. Upon my return, he was extremely stand-offish and immediately told me that my nails were not his fault. He then proceeded to say that he would not fix them and that the only thing he could offer was a repolish at the cost of $30 (not including the $50 I had already paid). I told him that I was very upset and disappointed, but neither him or the other technicians were willing to fix my manicure. The worst pedicure I have ever had!! I went on Friday afternoon and was able to be seen right away for a pedicure. The gentlemen doing my toes handed me a book of polishes (gel) to choose from and I selected 032. Once the color was on it didn't match the book after 4 coats!! I completed and he never offered to remove it and switch it. He simply said "the book is old"..THEN I paid extra for the callous removal and he said mine were "too thick" and he couldn't get it all.. I went home and had to finish the job myself! $53 for the worst pedicure ever. I told them I will never be back! I don't even know where to begin. I'm not someone who complains about businesses, but if I could do zero stars I would. I had a super young looking girl who put about 8 coats of nail polish on the first time I went (the white and teal nails), within 3 days I had 2 chipped nails, and 3 where the polish ended up peeling completely off. I went back in for them to fix, and they were going to charge me $25 for a COLOR CHANGE, even though my nails were messed up after 3 days and I obviously wanted to change the color so the same thing wouldn't happen (I thought maybe it was the polish that was bad). They ended up "fixing" them for free (the pink polish), after I explained again at the check out that it wasn't my fault they needed fixed so early. Since I ended up with the same girl, 1 day after she fixed them, I had 2 more nails chip, and you can SEE where the acrylic is SUPER thick on one side, and thin on the other (where it keeps chipping and breaking my nail). My middle finger is so lumpy that you can see/feel it. I had to cut 3 of my nails down now to prevent the acrylic from chipping further. I've never had this much of an issue anywhere else and I've been getting my nails done a long time. Never had a complaint until I went to this salon. Will NOT be going back and making sure I tell everyone I know, not to bother with this place. read more

I don't understand the low reviews! I have been going to Valerie every 2 weeks for 6 years and I've never had a bad experience. Tammy and Chi have done my pedicures once a month for that time too! They have a huge selection of polishes and powder/dip. The place is clean, there are plastic barriers between clients and manicurists, they require everyone wash their hands as soon as they come in, everyone wears masks and they only use every other station to social distance. I think the prices are reasonable, $40 for powder/dip and $35 for a pedicure that includes hot stone massage. (there is a cheaper pedicure that I haven't had) I recommend making an appointment or at least calling ahead because it isn't a huge place and these days they don't want people to have to wait. read more

I just had the worst mani/pedi experience of my life. Basic gel for both mani & pedi took 2.5 hours! Although I did say that I liked my nails short, she filed my right hand clear down to the quick, with absolutely no shape. Left hand she tried to recover by shaping, but by then my hands didn't match. Most of my nails have dull spots, which means she didn't get them covered with the top coat. There's polish all over my fingers and cuticles. I've been there before several times, but had one of the guys do the work. Avoid the older woman at all cost!!! read more

Took me a while to settle in with a decent nail technician to have my nails done. Each time we're asked to check in at the front desk, pick a specific person to do nails and I did exactly that. But a woman did my nails instead and my nails were horribly misshaped. I questioned them why wasn't I being serviced by the person that I had requested at the checkin station? Oh, I have to verbally tell them instead for that specific person to do my nails. Then what's the point of picking the nail technician at check in if I had to tell them out loud again? Oh, we don't check and see which customer requested for whom- so the woman told me. You called that customer service ?? I seriously doubt it. I told the woman there and then that my nails were misshaped.. even showed her how it was misshaped and curved more to one side of the nail on all my ten nails, she did little to rectify the shape of my nails and did it grudgingly! My nails were unevenly filed, he cut my finger with the cuticle clipper, and my cuticles are still rough and dry and look worse than when I came in. When you need to file your own nails at the salon because they can't file them round w square edges, and you have to wash off your lotion after your 30 second massage (not exaggerating), and the buffing machine burns your fingernails, you don't need to go back. $40 bucks for a basic mani-pedi, never again. read more

Luxor Nail Spa is a beautiful place. It's very clean. I was impressed immediately.....and then I sat down. The nail technician was very nice and very chatty, which I enjoy. My nails look good, but she cut me three times with both the file and the drill. She apologized, but blamed the equipment. She said that people always complain about getting cut, but insisted that they do that just to get a discount. I finally made it to the end of the manicure. She put the clear coat on and told me to put my hand under the UV light. When the light went on, my nails felt as though they received a painful shock. I have been getting my nails done for about 4 years. I understand that, occasionally, I might get nicked, but a manicure should not hurt. Three days later, my fingers are still sore. I've been a regular customer here for 3 years. Van is my tech, and she always takes good care of me. The shop is clean, and there isn't a strong chemical odor like many other places. The tools used on me are always autoclaved and sanitary. I've watched them clean the pedicure chairs after each customer with disinfectant properly. I've had gel on my nails consistently for 5 years, and during my 3 years at Luxor they usually last about two and a half to three weeks. I use OPI colors only, but that's a personal preference based on what I believe works best for me. My regular pedicures usually last a month. Van has always accommodated me when I mess them up within a week's time. The cost of the services is around the standard for the area, they offer package deals on Mondays and Tuesdays. Suggestions from a Regular Customer: 1. Make an appointment at least 24-48 hours ahead of time. They do walk ins, but having an appointment will guarantee your spot. 2. Know what you want and understand the cost. They are happy to guide you, but do your homework. 3. If you want conversation, you start it. They want you to relax, and they won't talk your ear off in order to help you relax. If you want to gab, go for it. 4. Simple is better. If you want all kinds of designs and other crazy details they will try to accommodate you, but they don't advertise themselves as experts on this so expecting them to be able to recreate the Mona Lisa on your big toe is unfair and unrealistic. If you find someone that does you can expect to pay way more for it than what Luxor charges. 5. Cash is King. They will allow you to pay in credit and tip on your card, but cash is preferred for tips. I have sent my friends here, and I'm happy to recommend it. I actually moved out of the Robinson area recently and into the city, but I still make the trip to get my nails done here. I plan to continue to do so. See you at the shop! read more

I'll start off by saying I did have ONE positive experience here a year or so ago when I came in to have some designs added to an existing set from another salon. But that's where the positives end. I went in for a full set a month ago for an event because I wanted a cool design like I saw on their social media. When I checked in I felt super rushed to pick a color and I kept asking about designs or stickers and eventually when I wasn't getting answers or Kept being told "no" (even though they have a ton of designs prepped on their model nails AND visible on social media) I gave up and just said do what you want. I guess that meant do the absolute worst set I've ever received at a higher cost than my normal salon. I was in so much pain. He filed my nails repeatedly on the sides and at the base so badly that I was sore/bloody for DAYS. Every nail was uneven, VERY narrow compared to my nail bed (he literally filed away the entire side of my NATURAL NAILS) and to top it off - they were so thin that 2 of them snapped from me just putting a shirt on 3 days later. I was able to easily take them off myself a WEEK after. All that filing and damage and they didn't even stay on my nails. It was honestly sickening because I was treated so rudely and rushed so badly that I cried as I walked to my car because I paid MUCH MORE than I do at my normal salon where they are always incredibly kind to me. All because I wanted a design that I was told I couldn't even get all because they didn't want to deal with it. I've never written a review like this before but this experience was sickening to me and I know I never even had a shot at getting my money back. I'll never cheat on my normal salon again. read more

As this was going on she also was trying to get me to purchase more things like oh you don't want regular polish get the gel it's better. Oh you need the more expensive spa pedicure. I don't usually go to nail salons, but I thought it would be fun to schedule a pedi with my niece before our beach vacation. When we walked in, the shop was pretty busy. Looks very nice and looks clean - although you have no way to really know that as they do not clean anything in front of you. When we approached the reception desk I said Hello and told him we had an appointment. Rather than greet me in return, welcome me, or even smile at me, he growled "Pick your color" and pointed to the wall of polish. We had brought our own polish, so he pointed to the first two pedi chairs and my niece and I got in. A chatty young man worked on my nieces feet, while lucky me, I got the man who had checked us in. I noticed that the young man working on my niece adjusted her chair and showed her the controls, my guy didn't say two words to me. He did tell my niece's guy to "focus" a couple of times. Admittedly, he was flirting with her and quite chatty, she's 17 and cute. I felt like the non-cute 40 year old who was grudgingly getting my nails done next to her. When our pedi's were done, the guy doing mine started to walk away, I reached over to the table to get our polishes, and he asked me if I forgot something in an impatient tone. I told him that we brought our own polish I just wanted to grab it before I forgot it. He grunted again and walked away. My niece's guy walked her over to the drying station and showed her where to sit down as he turned the blowers on. If I hadn't watched what he told her to do, I would not have known myself. When we felt our toes were dry, we walked over to pay. The older guy rang my niece up without a word and handed her the receipt. I asked if she should just write the tips on the receipt and he scowled at her and said she was supposed to "tell him before he rang it up!". At this point, I was at the end of my patience. I told the guy we had never been there before so he needed to show us the ropes. There was a nice tech working the station right behind the register, and I am sure he could tell the situation was getting heated. He nicely pointed to a sign on the wall that said to tell the cashier about tips prior to ringing. Unfortunately, the sign is not near the register. I told the cashier to add the tip for both me and my niece on my bill. We were in and out of there in 30 minutes. My pedicure itself was excellent. It lasted over a week, at the beach and in the pool, so that's good. But I spent $35 to have someone paint my toenails, and make me feel like an imposition. This place made me feel like I wasted my money. I work in retail, I know how much it sucks to have difficult customers, and I am definitely not one to complain over little things. However, I do expect the basics, like a greeting back when I greet you, or you taking the time to explain basic things about your shop that I will need to know to have a good experience. I used to go here all the time for my toes and for the OPI gel but lately they have been really bad. I have to watch them really closely and show them where they missed spots and the French manicure on the toes looked like I did it myself. The people that work there are really young kids and they spend all their time checking their phone, laughing with each other or watching tv and not focused on their work. AKWARD. Nothing about this experience was good. None of the employees knew who was supposed to be serviced next, even though our names are written down on a clip board. After I wrote my name down and took a seat a tech finished up and was walking around vs checking to see who was next and setting up a pedicure station. I ended up not even having them put a color on my toes and I'm glad I didn't because the hot towel would have hit wiped the paint right off when the tech removed it. Okay. Mixed emotions here. I'll start with the positive. Danny, the man who runs the salon is awesome. He's always polite, and if you are lucky enough to get HIM as your technician you will likely be pleased with the results. Unless his wife sits there and mean mugs you the whole time--which I've seen happen just about every time I've been there. Okay, so negative. The rest of the crew is mediocre at best. I've had shellac manicures, acrylics, and pedicures done here, as well as having my eyebrows done only once. When I had my eyebrows done, it LITERALLY happened in a utility closet--my feet hung off the chair and sat in someone's purse. No lie. Never again. Shellac manicures and acrylics have been average. I once took my best friend there for a treat and one of the male techs actually sexually harassed her. She mentioned that she didn't want her thumb messed with because she chews on it and it was sore, which was responded to under his breath by saying something to the effect of "I'll give you something to chew on." When asked, he would not repeat what he had said. Lastly, my pedicures have all been pretty good until this last one--which was my last straw with this place. Please see the picture I've posted. Went to Luxor nails after getting a recommendation from a coworker. I walked in Sunday night a little after 5 and they asked what i wanted and i told them a pedicure. I picked my polish and sat down. The lady doing my pedicure asked if i wanted my nails done too and i replied i would like dip nails if they could do it. As i was getting my pedicure another person came over to start my nails. It was all very rushed and uncomfortable. My pedicure was very well done and it would've been nice to enjoy it while having the massage chair on. My nails were rushed and turned out very poorly. It has been only a few days and they are all chipped and breaking and the last coat was applied very poorly so they are all bumpy. After i left i checked their hours online and they were supposed to close at 5. I appreciate them attempting to take me in but I would rather not pay 45$ for nails that don't look good and don't last. I would've rather just been told to come back the next day. Both people were very nice but again, i would've appreciated quality work..... now I'm just going to rip these off and know i wasted 45$ with a nice tip too..... read more

I received a pedicure from this establishment. The problem started when my nails were drying the owners mother, who had put a rhinestone embellishment on both of my large toenails, came over to add nail glue to the embellishments poured the nail glue onto the embellishment instead of using a separate applicator to apply the glue. As my nails were drying I noticed a stinging pain come from my left large toe, when I went to lift my toe up off of the sandal to see where the pain was coming from I noticed that the entire bottom of my large toe had been glued to the sandal. I brought it to the employees attention, the mother then tried to rip the sandal off of my toe, I had pleaded for her to take it easy as I was in pain. She acted as if she didn't understand what I was saying and finally just ripped the sandal off which left part of the sandal on my toe causing me great pain. She had suggested that I just leave and that it would come off in the shower in time. My friend had spoke up and said we are not going to leave with my toe in this condition. At this point we were treated as if we were a huge inconvenience because we were taking away from their other customers. I sat there for 20 minutes with my toe soaking in acetone, which had me concerned since I am 26 weeks pregnant. When we brought up my being uncomfortable about this they completely disregarded what I was saying. The mother proceeded to clip the remaining sandal off with cuticle cutters and file it down with a powered drill. The owner came over when he noticed what she was doing and mentioned to me it was unsafe to remove it that way that he would take over. It finally came off with muchwork. During him removing the remaining sandal he was VERY rude pointing out that he was taking time away from his other customers to do this and that we should feel bad for his mother for making this mistake. They knocked off $10 from my total bill, when I explained I was unhappy with this they responded with its not like you are bleeding, we didn't cut you. This was a 3 hour process, my 4 friends and I missed our massage appointment we had scheduled after this, which totally ruined our "girls" day out. When we had mentioned we had another appointment with a spa the owner chuckled with arrogance and said "oh well you will just have to cancel I'm taking my time away from my other customers to fix this" like we were inconveniencing him and we should be grateful he was fixing this issue. I have never been put through such a terrible/embarrassing situation. I do not want anyone else to have to go through what I had to go through. When we were leaving all of the employees and their friends were laughing at us like it was a joke that this had happened to me. The owner and his friends had acted as if I was the one that was wrong. I just want them to understand that this is not how you should treat your customers. read more

Bad bad bad. I had gel on when I went in. She didn't let them soak long enough and scrapped off half of my actual nail trying to remove the gel. She then filed with an electric file and removed more of my fingernail. The gel started chipping after about 5 days. My nails are so thin and brittle now from the scraping and filing. Just have to let them grow out. And it's not very clean. Won't be back. read more
