I have been gong to Lux for over 15 years and the staff is amazingly friendly, they do an excellent job on my nails and toes, and I have NEVER had any problems with the service there! I have been going to this salon for about 2-3 years now and I'm so thankful that I was referred here! For years prior, I went thru a few salons, one worse than the next with rude staff and places dirty enough to be scary. Lux is not like those places as the workers are all friendly and polite (except for occasionally speaking in Vietnamese in front of clients which isn't polite), and are always willing to try to squeeze you in if need be. My only real complaint would be that they should not use ammonia cleaning products before closing in the salon until all clients are OUT of the salon.....the fumes are not healthy and can cause asthma attacks and other respiratory issues. read more

I've been to this place probably 10 times and most of my experiences have been great. All of the girls are friendly and usually there's no wait for walk-ins. Most of the time, I get a spa pedicure, which I've never been disappointed with. Back in high school, I went here for acrylic nails for school dances. The prices are very reasonable. The reason I am only giving Lux 3 stars is because of my last experience. I went in with my mom and sister so we could all get our nails done together for my wedding day. I got a spa pedicure and french tip gel manicure with acrylic tips. The pedicures were great per usual, but the manicure was a disaster. I told the woman doing my nails that I wanted rounded nails. She made them square so I asked her to make them rounder and she shaved half my thumb nail off. Then she put hot pink on my nail bed even though I told her I wanted it to look natural. I told her I didn't like it after the first nail, but she told me it would get lighter. There were a lot of little bubbles, which she said was normal, even though I've never had that issue before. She did my whole hand and I told her I still didn't like it and that I wanted it be flesh colored. She proceeded to shave the gel off and actually cut into my nail bed pretty deep so that you could see little bruises through my nail. She got really angry and stormed away and someone else came to remove the gel and redo my nails. I was left with half my hand looking great and my other hand looking decent at best. You could see a little leftover pink next to the white tip. I admit, I may have been slightly more picky and anal as this was for a big day in my life, but my request was totally reasonable. If she had listened to my original requests, this whole situation could have been avoided. You may be wondering why I still gave this place 3 stars after such an awful experience? The answer is because they still give great spa pedis. I recommend them for that and that alone. read more

Got referred here by a friend so just had my nails done at this place and I would say the service was extraordinary. I didn't wait for long even when the store was packed on Saturday. My nails were taken care of by Jean, a young lady with great customer service and she really does keep you entertained while you're at it. She examined my nails thoroughly then took care of my chipped off acrylic nails. A beautiful work + great customer service at an affordable price! Best Place to get service on your nails. They do not use nail files for callus removal. They dispose the file after usage. It does look like a nail file but IT IS NOT. Ask for Mindy, she gives the best massages! read more

I got my fingernails done three weeks ago with shellac and I am very happy that they have lasted so long. The color was also applied very well and close to the nail beds and sides so that they still appeared fresh as my nails grew out. I would certainly return to this place of business, especially with it having the cheapest price for shellac in Santee that I have encountered. read more

Good....the salon was very clean...but I received the worst manicure. I asked to have the gel removed from my nails and they just sanded off the top, cuticles were not cleaned and one hand was never filed! I usually go to another salon, thought I could find one closer to my home, however, I will not be returning. read more

It's clean, girls are nice. Micheal does a really good job..BUT.... mu 12 year old got her nails done there today, I sent her with my CC and $5 for a tip. He charged her $44 for a full set, acrylic pink and whites. Just thought the price was much too high. read more

I have been coming here for years and all the girls are amazing! As per some of the other reviews, if you are nice to your service people they will be nice to you. Most of the clients are regulars who have been coming for years. They take the time to get to know you and really care about what you want. They will at times suggest something or say that they think it should be done a different way but it is your choice. And for the gossiping, if you talk to them they will talk to you. If you ignore them then they will talk to themselves. Wouldn't you if you were cleaning feet all day? read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm in the beauty industry and know state board procedures and laws about sanitation and disinfection. Both of these are completely LACKING in this spa. The floor always looks dirty like its never been mopped. I watched the ladies take out "clean implements" from a box, use it on my feet and then return the DIRTY supplies back into the "clean implements" box. HORRIBLE! The pedicure bowls aren't properly cleaned either. My mom and sister go here all the time to get their acrylic nails done and they tell me how painful it is when they remove the old nail even making my sister bleed once, which I then informed her they should NEVER make you bleed even when trimming cuticles. As for the service itself, my nails always chip within a couple days, its too expensive for what you get. When you call for an appointment you always end up waiting at least 10 min before someone gets started on you. Some advice: always check to make sure they're CLEAN, you don't want fungus or a skin disease from dirty implements. read more

Went in on a Sunday just wanting my gel polish removed because my regular salon is closed on Sunday's. I wish I had waited till Monday. Here's why. Lux Nails is FILTHY!!! from the floors to the Manicurist table to the walls to the dirty nails of my Mancurist Michelle. Her table top looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. So she starts to saw off yes I said saw off the Gel Nail Polish not having any mercy on my cuticles. Then she wraps a drenched piece of cotton on my nails and wrapped them in foil. Meanwhile the Aceatone is running down my arm. Less than two minutes later, off with the foil and soaked Cotton and she begins to scrape what's left of the polish along with layer of my nail. I've had Gel Nail Polish before and I know that the Aceatone has to set for at least 15 minutes but 20 is preferred. Moving on the the water bowl and a bottle that said, cuticle remover. Really! Cuticle remover has a consistency to it, this that she had was like water. Oh it gets better. Instruments..... No jar with disenfectant, she pulled them out of the top drawer of her table. My cuticles look like they were ran through a meat shredder. My nails are not consistent in shape with the next nail. And as far as being smooth they remained the same when she took off the Gel Nail Polish. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO LUX NAILS IN SANTEE. read more

they do a HORRIBLE job!!! this was my second time there. the 1st time i wasn't very happy: they left my toe nails long and the french tip wasn't even straight. i thought i would go one more time and try a different person. this person didn't even scrub my feet, didn't remove the dry cuticle skin, and left old polish from my last pedicure. then she got attitude because i didn't have cash for a tip!!!! she didn't even deserve a tip. i will NEVER return to this place!!! read more

Went for a pedicure and to see if they can fix 2 broken nails while I was there. I told them up front I only want to get it done if they could closely match the color but match exactly the same design 2 hours later the color is similar enough but the design is not even close...the girl stepped on my freshly painted toes and they seemed annoyed by having to redo it. Also the girl was clearly talking crap about me wanting the same design and the nails just fixed instead of a full set since all of em were laughing and looking at me. She couldn't even tell that it wasn't acrylic nails but full gel. Pedicures are good but expensive and they charge $5 to just get French tip on them and they use a nail file to scrub ur feet which is a little weird but I wouldn't have complained if they would have just been honest that they couldn't match the color or design and then didn't talk bad about the clients. read more
