This is the best pedicure place you will find. I went to them for years before I moved recently, and once I experienced Lux, there was zero chance I would go anywhere else in San Diego. The quality was always exceptional, but now that I live out of state and am trying to find a new nail place, I realize just how far above and beyond Lux is. Although, I suppose I had some idea since I worked in Sorrento Valley and still made the trek out to Santee because Lux was just that good. Lux offers a good selection of different pedicures, all fairly priced, including several that include additional massage time. They do a great job of callous removal. I always saw Nina--she's awesome--but a close friend of mine goes there and she has liked everyone she has worked with there as well. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and they fairly recently replaced their chairs with all new massage chairs. (i.e. You won't get stuck in the broken chair at the end like most places!) I came in as a walk in they made me wait like 25 min. I didn't mind because I'd rather wait and have a good job done. I picked pink with glitter on top she didn't do even coats so I could like spots where you could see my nail and I told her and she just kept packing glitter trying to hide instead of just redoing it. I wore sandals for 3 and half hours. I put my gym shoes on and come home to my toes being all smeared! So I guess THREE AND HALF hours of drying time isn't enough. I get my nails and toes done every 2 weeks like clockwork and this has never happened before! My nails the lady just did a color change and its all un even full of bubbles! At this point I was just too pissed and wanted to get out of there. Oh, but when it comes to that time to tip them they almost force you to tip them. I've been coming to LUX since they opened. The owners are very nice and friendly. My gal is Jenny. I am a very picky client and Jenny has been doing my nails perfectly for years. I always get compliments on how nice they look. :) LUX is not like other nail salons, where they take walk-ins over the regular clients. This has NEVER happened to me here. June 30th, Friday 9:15 AM Subject: (1) They purposely take men customers in front of women customers, waiting in line.( Their line is a row of chairs in front of store. ) (2) The nail job sucked big time with sore, cut too short nails on 88 year old woman. (3) Nail Lady - the one in the melon chiffon dress/pants thing, with pony tails was extremely rude. Get that stick outta there girl! Scene: Visit today to Lux Nails in Santee, with 88 year old Mom. Mom needs a pedicure, no polish. She loves the leg massage. Mom & I are sitting there - we are #3 in line - two young ladies in front of us...all waiting to get lovely toes. Waiting at that point about 10 minute, no big deal. ( total wait time would be 25 minutes )---In walks a man, he sees the four of waiting & yells out to a Nail Lady in the back..."Can I come back & not loose my place in line?" Nail Lady replies "yes". ---10 minutes later....the man comes back...we all are still waiting with the young ladies....we are still #3. --- Man clearly sees us all still waiting, & the entire salon staff has seen all four of us waiting for Pedicure services. The Nail Lady in the back, apparently in charge.....calls out to the man to take a chair....ignoring all us waiting. ---The man takes a chair and proceeds to get a Pedicure, WITH FOUR WOMEN AHEAD OF HIM. YES, HE IS A JERK, BUT THE NAIL LADY IS A BIGGER JERK & SEXIST FOR TAKING THIS MAN ahead of the waiting female customers. Next issue, the Nail Lady who did my Mom's nails was stuck up, rude, and I can honestly say cut my 88 year old mom's nails way too short. She must be related to owner, because no one with put up with that attitude. Get another job Nail Lady, you are obviously wrong for this one and very unhappy. Also she was in a hurry did not take time, or interest. I have been here probably 4 times with Mom, always had great service until today. Poopy service. While you are waiting..... I've been going here almost monthly for a little over a year and will say that I have received a not-so-great pedicure once or twice. My nails were all misshapen and the callus remover did nothing. Same day, my friend was with me and had polish all over her cuticles. The ladies are friendly and willing to try to fix it but didn't quite understand what we were both trying to get fixed. The ladies do talk a lot among themselves in their native language and sometimes they seem a bit distracted during the service. Overall, I usually have a good experience and the quality has been consistent enough to keep coming. Plus, they have great massage chairs and a solid selection of nail colors.
