Lumos had a crew installing T-Mobile fiber at the house next door. They were blocking my driveway and mailbox. I asked them to move and they didn't. Later when my wife was trying to use our driveway to leave and could not. When she asked him to move he said I told him it wasn't necessary. When I told him he was wrong, things quickly escalated and he asked me if I wanted to "go" and his crew told me "I wasn't too smart" my wife deescalated... But why am I being told I will have my ass kicked in my own house, by someone digging a ditch next door? I called their supervisors at Lumos and T-Mobile. No one seems to care. I signed up for high speed Internet with Lumos in March and was supposed to receive a $200 gift card after 3 months. I have been waiting and when I called customer service today they had me on the phone trying to upgrade my service but said that they don't have a record of my promotional offer. I explained to the 2 different representatives that I spoke with that I would not consider doing business with a company that has already misrepresented themselves and made promises about a promotion in the past that they are not willing to honor. The people installing the cables in taylors sc went through my front yard and I am not switching. I called them and they said they could not do anything about it cause they can't reach the people they hired to install everything. On top of that they broke the same water main at least 3 times in 1 day. They dont have any road safety equipment and they have to dig with shovels because they dont know how to operate the equipment. They have flipped them on multiple instances. Yes I know they can dig in the ditch to run wires up the driveway, but they ran it straight through my yard to my neighbors house. They have also told me to just cut it, or run it over with my lawn mower. This service provider seemed like a good deal, but since I couldn't be sure I kept my previous service provider. Going forward if you are considering Lumos, I suggest you keep your previous service provider so that you can gauge their service as well. I am about a year in and this is the worst service I have ever had. Customer service, internet service, quality and communication is abysmal. The connection drops and there is no communication as to when service will be restored. I pay for two gigs I have never received that speed. Download speeds are similar to satellite internet. I'm just so grateful I still have my previous provider I can lean on. This is not a decent company. For the money the value received does not match. read more

I live in NE Ohio. This is BY FAR the worst internet provider I have ever used. It is constantly out. Days without Internet. It takes them forever to locate and repair the issue. Customer service is average, at best. If you work from home, I highly recommend any other company. read more

They cut through the entire neighborhood's power line, individual WiFi, multiple water and irrigation lines, caused a sinkhole in a neighbor's driveway and have yet to fix it and have been uninterested in remedying the situation. Horrible Services with lots of outages. Extremely hard to get a hold of technical support when there is an outage. There is no way to verify an outage in the area without getting ahold of them. Be prepaired for them to destroy your lawn during instilation. read more

Almost five month later I still have not received a refund after first being informed that they wait 90 days before issuing a refund. They broke the main water pipe to my home digging and left with water gushing down the street. I had to call the city and a plumber and pay to fix their damage. After complaining they agreed to reimburse me but I never received payment and they do not return calls. These guys came into our neighborhood a month after another company installed fiber. The first company worked with the HOA and the residents to be as responsible as possible. They started running fiber 4 weeks ago. They tore up every yard in this development. The HOA has sent 9 emails and 5 phone calls to Lumos' construction division and the contractor they hired. I don't know how many times I've been told they would make it to what it was or better. Now I guess they are done dealing with us. Absolutely terrible customer service. Multiple menu choices just to get to a customer representative. Then they request lots of info that they should have immediately on hand from the phone number. Then turns out, they have to transfer to someone else. Another 15-20 minutes hold time and I gave up. Chat "support" is the same. I sent message from there help form and got an autoresponse they had service reps available 7-7 but no specific direction. Horrible company! 1 star! I would give them 0 stars if I could. My bill went up $8.37 last month and when I called to inquire as to why - I never got a straight answer from the customer service reps or managers (I called 3 times in an attempt to get an answer.) Additionally, I recieved an email that my bill would increase beginning February 1, 2025, but there was no indication by how much the bill would increase in the email. I inquired about this rate increase as well and got 3 different answers! The last answer I received from someone who knew what she was doing was that my bill would go up an additional $14.50. So, in two months, Lumos wanted to increase my bill by over $22 per month. Unacceptable! I had the basic TV service, nothing special. I canceled my television service and am returning my equipment. I'm fed up with the lack of transparency and lack of professionalism as well as the greed of this company. In my opinion, Lumos is led by a bunch of crooks. I was highly disappointed in the process and service lumos provided. I had to contact customer service several times because they tore up my yard and driveway and did not completely bury the cable. Next my service was disconnected because I had no idea of when my billing was due. I still have questions about the billing since it's due on the first and my cable was installed later in the month. WORST COMPANY! WARNING.... if you see the company starting to dig in your neighborhood, try your best to get them stopped immediately before you deal with their disrespect and negligence. I explained to customer service I was starting a petition to get them to stop and they quickly worked through the night to get everything done. I don't even have their service and I can not stand this company. They send a construction crew to put in the fiber wire and on the first day they hit the water line, so no water for a while. Day 2 they hit the gas line, had to evacuate the neighborhood. Day 4 of them being here, they hit the water line again and we were without water. I have called 4 times to speak with a supervisor and NO ONE will respond to me. If this is how their service is with just putting in the fiber wire I don't even want to think how crappy their service for everything else. They ran wire in my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. Their trash was left everywhere when the finished. Half eaten food in my front yard, which I had to pry out of my dog's mouth. I cannot say enough good things about Lumos in High Point, NC. Their prices are reasonable and customer service is excellent! I was afraid when Lumos took over Northstate that service would suffer. It has not. Just yesterday our dog got tangled up in the fiber optic cord and pulled it HARD as she jerked away. Instantly, our internet went out and nothing could bring it back. we called Lumos at 4:55 pm yesterday and they scheduled a service call some time in the next 48 hours. We waited until 1:45 pm today, not quite 24 hours, and I inquired about our place in line for service. Brian answered the phone and was very helpful. He said we were 4th in line on our technician's list for today and, honestly, he couldn't guarantee it would happen today. I explained we were starting to panic a bit since both of us work from home and not having internet was seriously inconvenient. Brian sympathized and said tomorrow would be the worst case scenario. We hung up. Not 10 minutes later, my husband gets a call from our technician saying he is a few minutes away! I know he didn't get through 3 service calls in 10 minutes. I suspect Brian and Logan spoke and things got shuffled. It took Logan 10 minutes to get us back up and running!!! Thank you Brian and Logan and Lumos in High Point, NC. We are so grateful! It was a total waste of time and money. I was previously on cable service but decided to try Lumos fiber internet. My internet slowed to a crawl, constant buffering, page unresponsive notices and repeated loss of wifi connection. I purchased Lumos in Oct after Hurricane Helene came thru. They told me that someone would be out to bury my line in a week. Here it is January and my line has been damaged 3 times. Snatched completely out my wall 2 times because they left the cord in the road and crossing 2 driveways. After multiple calls and multiple repairs i have decided I am done. The service is awful. I came home to find Lumos dug four large holes in my front yard to place their fiber cable. One hole cut large roots from my river birch tree which certainly could adversely effect the viability and stability of the tree. When they were done I had to dig out nearly half of my landscaping flagstone that was carelessly buried underground. Zirrus previously put in internet fiber cable in our neighborhood. Zirrus had the decency to ask us for permission to do so and they put the cable in without destroying our yards and they certainly didn't cut through large tree roots or ruin my landscaping. The contrast between Lumos and Zirrus is striking and disturbing. We are currently Zirrus customers and intend to remain so. I, and my neighbors, work hard to maintain a nice yard. To have such disregard for us is very poor business practice. read more

COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO ABANDONE YOUR CLIENTS. Lumos has 5mbps DSL going to 32 homes on a dead end 1/2 mile road. All utilities are underground for safety from the trees (which eliminates weather related maintenance costs). We have been ignored for any sort of broadband upgrades for the past 3 years I have been trying. At one point they looked like they were going to do something, and then poof, gone. They are now offering FiberOptic Internet to their NEW clients (or, easy to access clients) for $50 dollars a month and continue to charge $58 for their ancient DSL. The homes on our lane have paid collectively more the $160,000 for DSL in the 8.5 years we've lived here. Yet we get the "we cant because of the cost" BULLSHIT line. They can, they're just too damn cheap. They are too cheap to take care of their existing customers and we feel abandonded. If you can, avoid Lumos with all your might. Had I known it was going to be like this with no upgrades, ever, I wouldnt have purchased a home here. read more

And that was after the installer changed the box 3 times. Ive had Lumos for 2 months and have nothing but problems with them . The 1st issue was they didnt properly explain how there billing cycle went . I was told I had one month free of service but once that month was up the very next day they took 70 dollars out my account . The second issue was they charged my bank card that I had took off file because I don't keep a lot of money in that account . the charge made my account go negative and collect over draft charges . its been a big pain in the butt to get them to put the money back in my account and remedy the problem. very unprofessional customer service read more

Today I called in and was told the customer service department was closed. On a Thursday at 2pm! We initially had Northstate Fiber Optic Internet out of High Point, NC. Service was fantastic with Northstate. Price was consistent. Then Lumos bought Northstate. First thing they did was charge $4 for sending a paper bill without first offering paperless billing. Then, the bill went up $7 a month with no explanation or warning. I rolled with all that. Now, I've not been able to log in to my account for about three months because when I try to change the pass word, the link never takes you to a place where you can enter a new password and save it. It takes you through a loop of trying to sign in, then it locks you out because it's the wrong password. So for three months I've paid what the bill was the last time I could actually log in and see it. Finally, I call and am told they charge $5 to pay over the phone, but they would waive it this time because of my password loop problem; which is THEIR PROBLEM, NOT MINE. Eventually, I convince them to reset my password so I can go pay my bill. Once I sign in I see I have $18 late fees because at some point in the past three months the bill has gone up again and since I was paying the old amount, I've been penalized. The customer service people were nice but it doesn't make up for the shady practices of this company. They are just a mini Spectrum. The service is average at best so it's not a great company or great service. Just another indignity we are forced to endure from greedy companies. I would have thought Waynesboro, VA, would have better to offer than that. read more
