I'm not a hipster but much respect to all you artisan crazies. First time visit but I promise you, I'll be back. Lots of pride in the food and drink at Lucky's. Our server Jack made every item on the menu seem like some kind of renaissance poem. We ended up sharing the Sunday special, which was the perfect pick for us. Taking a peek at all the different plates being served, I'm pretty sure we would've been good with any dish on the menu. And oh, Jack was genuinely excited for us for choosing the special. Amazing food and service. read more

Luckys - The Sunday Special: Roasted stuffed pork loin with cherries and some other juicy goodness. - New American Near Me - Rochester, New York

The veggie burger was absolutely disgusting. My husband said his fish and chips was the worst he has had. The fries are wayyyy too salty. It's expensive too so I was expecting great food. We still joke about how bad it was. It's dark so I guess if you're on a 1st date, that might be good. read more

What can I say? The food is amazing. The service is exceptional. It's one of my favorite restaurants.

Excellent bar and drinks, often busy, brunch menu items are a bit overwrought... could be simpler and taste better.

Can I rate the service different from the food? I moved here from Long Island Ny and have been in some very high end establishments. This staff acted like they were doing me a favor for answering questions. I can sadly say they were more rude than any establishment I have been in for a while. The food or what I had was amazing every bite but the self righteous staff put a bit of a stain on my willingness to return. The waiter was knowledgeable and good even though he wasn't serving me. The bartender acted as if she was entitled. I am in the service industry I would never want my staff to act so privileged. I also never complain so that's saying something too. read more

This is a nice spot on Winton. The decor is cozy and clean. The appetizers are bigger portions. Some of us ordered the Friday special. It was fresh and well seasoned. The waiter was attentive and very helpful on drinks suggestions. We will go back to try other specials at another time. read more

Four stars for their service to ROC and the cool combo of sauce and dip. The wings were cooked through nicely. The sour sweet fruity sauce on the wings and the green-ish yogurt dip really worked together though the dip on its own tasted weirdly grassy. However, these wings did need some additional salt. Or maybe it was because they couldn't add a lot of sauce to prevent leaking. I guess having the sauce in a container on the side can solve it. For 14 dollars you get 10 big wings (drums and flats), which was a good deal. I ate 3 and saved the rest. I arrived on time (5:30 pm on a Thursday) and was told to wait for a few minutes when I called. It was about 15 minute wait FYI. Also this type of lightly fried wings (no breading) in general don't travel well, if you care about this kind of thing. read more

Lucky's opened Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020. We caught a D&C article and were headed across the street, decided to give them a try. The menu is a little eclectic, maintaining the requisite burger for safety. We had: Duck Toast Tartine - flavorful, but a little hard to tell you were eating duck(vs. dark meat chicken). A thin spread of the duck mixture grilled, plus a sauce, razor thin radishes, baby greens on a thick piece of darker bread toast. As I said it had great flavor. Shepherd's Pie in a square ramekin. Braised lamb, perhaps cut slightly too close - we had a couple bits of gristle in the ground mixture. Root vegetables, and Pureed Chick Peas instead of mashed potatoes. Seasoned wonderfully and an adequate portion. In this day of supersized portions this was not. It was also $16, not $20-22 for a beef and potato version available elsewhere around town. Brick-Roasted Half Chicken with pickled vegetable garnish and Chimichurri. My wife had the Chimichurri on the side instead of baked onto the chicken. The meal was flavorful and the Chimichurri and pickled vegetables were great. We also ordered a side of their French Fries - skin on thin, julienned strips fried and seasoned excellently. My wife had unsweetened Iced Tea - a fairly small glass (8-10 oz. vs. 12-16) and she wasn't sure that refills were included - the waitress didn't ask/offer. I had the Switchel #2 "0 proof" Raw Ginger, Date Nectar, Apple Cider Vinegar and Banana. Surprising. You are primed to expect something heavy based on the ingredients to be surprised by a surprisingly light refreshment. It was served in an old fashioned glass. I could have drunk double that, easily, particularly given it's served over rocks. The waitress was good, answered our questions. Did not refill water or ask about refilling Iced Tea. Currently the only dessert is a Root Beer Float with House made (?) Vanilla Ice Cream. We didn't try it, but it sounded good. This is not home cooked, seasoned fare. As I said, it's eclectic and flavorful. Not a lot of sides included with the meals so it can get pricey fairly quickly. Our tab came to $72+. Yes, we'd likely spend that much across the street for slightly less eclectic but we would have larger portions. I have to admit that their perhaps signature dish, the Steak Frites had my attention. 16 oz. Butcher Cut, Fries, Herb Butter, Demi weighs in at $42 - about double any other entree (the 1/2 Chicken is next in line at $24). The 16 oz. Delmonico with two sides (e.g. Asparagus and Baked/mashed/fries) runs about $25 across the street. Aside from "butcher cut" there's nothing to give away a special pedigree (e.g. dry aged xx days) to warrant the price difference. I didn't have it so I can't speak to it. I am merely posting the information. I'm hoping someone on a looser budget will get it and weigh in for me. read more

Used to be better. We've enjoyed going to Lucky's since it opened prepandemic. Really enjoyed the food, service, and the ambiance. Recently, the food seems to have taken a downhill turn. For example on our most recent visit, the menu choices seemed to be not as strong as in the past. We ordered the special appetizer - the fried squash was great (even my husband who doesn't like squash likes it), but the burrata beneath hot, fried squash was cold - which seemed like a miss for a $17 dish. With our entrees, the fries were way, way too salty. We do like Lucky's and will go again, hoping they get back to the level of our previous experiences. read more

The waiter Krista was very unprofessional would not allow us to be seated. Claim that they had reservations on a Monday and could not seat us. As we were currently speaking the total restaurant was empty. Terrible service. I went back an hour later after the restaurant was open still plenty of room. I'm just a visitor from out of town made me feel totally unwelcome. So we went to another restaurant right across the street to spend our $300. Lucky's ain't so lucky read more

Went for drinks at the bar and then dinner for three. Paid and when checked my account the next day I was charged THREE times for dinner. NO ONE answers the phone till after 4pm when they open and days later went in to get the refund. I had to go back in to get my money returned and it could have been done the FIRST day on the phone. GAMES! I will never go there again, and I will tell everyone my horrible experiences. read more

My group of 4 ordered a good variety of dishes off the menu. Most left much to be desired. The good ones were: the wings- great dry rub, but the raw carrot shavings on the wings were odd. Wax beans- the whipped tofu was really the star. little neck clams- great sauce and potatoes in with the clams. The bad were: The burger- small and had nothing special to make it stand out from any other burger. Fries only came with ketchup, come on. Crab crepe- they were out of crab so it was a rock shrimp crepe instead. What came out was a bowl of so much canned tasting corn, whole button mushrooms, and 3 shrimp chopped small covered with one very plain tasting crepe. Total disappointment. The hoa fee- the smoked tofu had such a Smokey flavor that it took over the entire sandwich. The fries were great and salty, but again, only ketchup to dip. Lame. Overall, would not return. read more

Charming venue with a creative menu. The staff is so much fun. They treat you like friends as soon as you walk in. For appetizers, we had the lamb skewers which were served with dill sauce, hummus, and crispy garbanzo beans. As the entree, we had the smoked tofu sandwich which had greens and avocado. It came with a flavorful side salad that included greens, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, and the delicious dressing. Props to this place for not charging $3 for a side salad and making it a salad of substance. Of course, we had to try their fries too, which were crispy and tasty with flavorful dipping sauce. read more

The service was very attentive, the food was AMAZING, and I would absolutely go here again and again. It was a very chill atmosphere, you could dress up a little and not feel out of place, or dress casually and be comfortable. The vanilla ice cream was so good, I can't even begin to describe it. And their chicken pot pie was devoured almost immediately. I'm sad to say I never got to try the fries, but that just means I have to try them when I go again. read more

I'm late to the game, but WOW I love it here. I stopped in this morning for some post-Halloween brunch with my mama and I'm so glad I did. The ambiance is wonderful, they really did a fantastic job redoing the building. The staff was amazing, and the FOOD! I got the breakfast Sammy and my mom got the carrot salad. They were both totally divine, and I'm not usually a salad person. And that sandwich..... truly guys, the best breakfast sandwich I've had in Rochester. I'm so so happy to have this in the neighboorhood, this will absolutely become one of my go-tos. read more

When you hear that some of your favorite restaurateurs come together for a supergroup project, you have to check it out! Combining the wisdom of the teams from Java's, Good Luck, and Cure, there's got to be something magical happening here! As we enter the former Wintonaire, I'm reminded of the parking issues from days gone by, attention to locate a spot in the parking area. Parking there has never been ideal, and it seems to have improved slightly. A relatively small signage adorns the front of the building, and the interior lighting seems reminiscent of Good Luck. A pace change, it definitely feels different inside, even if it doesn't truly look wildly different at first glance. I can assure you, the menu speaks that for this establishment. A menu reminiscent of a mix of the forebears that created Lucky's is a welcome addition. Curried wings, beluga lentils, salads, sides, and sandwiches greet you, followed by full size dinner fare, including pizza, pot pie, and fish fry options. We were captivated by the specials, and ordered the smoked salmon tartine, and the pork chop porterhouse, with drinks. Service and table delivery were snappy, and the food was pretty solid as well! The smoked salmon tartine was delicious, and the pork chop was pretty solid too! read more

Slipped in a huge puddle of meaty burger grease that clearly came out of the vent from the kitchen as I walked back to my car in the parking lot. Went back in for a towel to scrape some of it off and the bartender got weirdly defensive and told me it wasn't from them. Cool, thanks. read more

Cute spot but the drinks seem to mainly be pre made. Not a lot of variety for cocktail choices. Rotating menu for food, which is nice but usually is unique food that is pricey. Would love for them to stay open later and to have more specials. read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday around 11:30 with a group of three. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but brunch wasn't as jam-packed as I had anticipated. We didn't have to wait for a table at all, and service was friendly and prompt. The "Lucky's style" mimosa - made with orange juice, cocchi rosa, and cava - was absolutely delicious! I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a side of fries. Everything was tasty and fresh. I did feel that the bread-to-filling ratio was off on the sandwich and I would've liked a little more egg or another topping to beef it up a bit. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! I saw that Lucky's has trivia night on a select night during the week - I definitely want to swing by for that! If the mimosa is any indication of the quality of their cocktails, I imagine Lucky's is a great spot for drinks with friends and some games! :) read more

Lucky's looked like a nice place from the outside, but we never got a chance to go in. It was 8:30 on a Wednesday night and there were plenty of open tables in the dining area (none in the bar) but they have a rule against seating folks (outside of the bar) who do not plan to order food. Just a warning to others who might try to go for just drinks and want to sit down, too. read more

I was surprised to find I hadn't reviewed this place. We went a while back, our first time eating at a restaurant since quarantine. Service was safe, friendly and prompt. Not having been out since March, we were anxious to say the least, but Lucky's does a great job. The burger, phenomenal, as well as the fries. This is about as good as it gets, certainly better than most places banding themselves as burger destinations. My beautiful wife got a salad, sorry I can remember which one, and we ended up splitting both meals happily. Fresh greens, tasty dressing. Cocktails were also delicious, and the bill was reasonable. read more

I really liked my visit to Lucky's! The interior was really nice, better than I expected. I can see the bar area being great once things open up more freely too. I came in with friends for lunch/brunch when they opened on a Sunday with a reservation. We were the first people in, but the restaurant quickly filled up by noon. Coffees were very good. Two people ordered burgers and I ordered the beef and butter sandwich, which were both excellent. Only comment would be I wish they had a more extensive brunch menu, which only had like 5 items on it and nothing was substantial (think yogurt, bread, two eggs). We were fine ordering off the lunch/dinner menu, but a few more breakfast options would be nice. I'd happily come back! read more

Crazy this place used to be Wintonaire. I know it's basic bitch stuff but the cheeseburger is off the rails good. Great beer selection tried the Strangebird NEIPA was not disappointed. Great date night spot and yes you can park in front of the lamp store if you want. Yeah a friggin lamp store where you can buy and sell lamps! It's nuts but true. Lucky's never disappoints. Atmosphere is always cozy and welcoming - busy but not too busy. Bartender was friendly and attentive. We stopped in for a drink and a snack after seeing a show. From the team at Good Luck Restaurant, Lucky's features a simple menu for lunch and dinner. They are still waiting on their liquor license and currently serve "zero proof" beverages. I stopped in for lunch and tried the pub burger with aged cheddar and "lucky" sauce and was impressed. The interior was renovated, and the staff was attentive. I will definitely return to try their Ploughman lunch platter. I'm also looking forward to the release of their cocktail menu. read more

Definitely rate these folks 10 of 10, we love Lucky's! Great food, service, and drinks too!

I've anxiously been awaiting the opening of Luckys!! We went this weekend with much anticipation. They don't have their liquor license yet as a forewarning, but the food is worth the trip. Just like Good Luck, their food and service is top knotch! The menu is very scaled down but thoughtfully put together. It almost reminds me of a British pub with options like tartines, Shepard's pie, fish fry, steak frites etc. The best thing we tried was the duck tartine appetizer! We also shared the cod fish fry which was super fresh and fried perfectly crispy. We can't wait to go back when alcohol is served as we know their drinks will impress just like their sister restaurant. read more

Luckys - Duck tartine - New American Near Me - Rochester, New York

Delicious food. Casual but expensive. Parry of 5 had a great time. The staff/server was brilliant and charming

The place's atmosphere is fairly unassuming and has good vibes for a Saturday lunch. Make sure you try all of their exciting zero-proof cocktails while they wait on their liquor license... I had the cold brew coffee mixed drink called Go Vinnie Go! As a sucker for exotic drink flavors I was swooning over every flavor combo on their no-alcohol drink menu. The Duck Toast was a deliciously balanced combo of flavors and it was definitely our favorite. We got the Turkey Club Sandwich and soup of the day which was turkey. ...we had a hankering for poultry, I guess. The turkey soup of the day wasn't anything out of this world, but if I was sick in bed, this is what I would ubergrubdash to my door and I surely would be cured of all ailments including those plaguing my soul. The Club Sandwich is nice with its heap of turkey, and to mention this must be the best damn turkey you can find in Rochester considering it was $15. I didn't ask but for $15 I'm assuming this turkey was beyond free-range; it must have been raised by the chef in his very home, given a name, sent to sleep-away summer camps, frequented the spa, and had regular massage therapy sessions. I don't know another turkey club sandwich at the "boujeest" of venues that is so priced. I'm just going to pretend the bill for the duck toast and the club sandwich were swapped. Because truly that toast was so good I would sell both of my kidneys to live out the rest of my days on dialysis eating Duck Toast Tartine. If you love crème brûlée, get this crème brûlée! We know Luck's and their people always use excellent local fresh ingredients. $60 for eating for two (not in a pregnant kind of way but in a two grown adults kind of way). The waitstaff were perfect. And always tip your waitstaff a minimum of 20% if you're not a uncivilized barbarian (even if the staff are having an off day). read more

First of all, my one star rating has NOTHING to do with the food, drinks or staff. They're all terrific. I've been here 6 or 7 times and it's consistently great. But on Thursday July 29th around 8:00 PM, the noise level was ridiculous. My date and I had a really hard time talking, and other customers were also leaning into each other to hear themselves. This isn't the typical situation at Lucky's, so what went wrong? Did you let the bartender run the music? That's always a mistake, although the guy from Cure knows the right way to do it. Please fix this. I want to keep patronizing Lucky's for a long, long time, but I don't come here for a concert. read more

The food was simple/no frills & delicious. The atmosphere was very chill and the place was very family friendly. 3/6/2020 Underwhelming... small portions and quite pricey! Ordered one of today's specials 'SparRibs', it was a very small portion and they were extremely dry - not much flavor. We also tried the 6 oz burger which was OK but nothing special for $16.00 Great location with ample parking. They'll probably be adding some sound absorbing panels since the bar and restaurant are open to each other and it is very very loud. I really hope these folks adjust and are able to succeed in what has been a seemingly jinxed location. read more

Never have had a bad meal here. We love the area and the food is great! In my opinion I would recommend this for food over Winfield.

Went to the Winfield Grill for brunch/lunch and they were closed. Glad they were because we discovered Lucky's. Great place. Nice and big for the Sunday noontime crowd. Beautiful ambiance and decor. Great stocked and attractive bar area. Had the quiche and side salad which was delicious. Great dressing on the salad. We sat at a bar high top so waited a bit for drink refills but no worries. Hubby had bfast Sammy on a biscuit with fries which he loved. We split the Leon curd and blueberry maple pancakes. Wow so tasty. Thin like crepes, but plenty for sharing. Wish it was served with extra syrup or sauce was a little dry. Overall fantastic and we will definitely be back! read more
