Mac and cheese. Hard pass. Flavorless.

Stopped by revelry with some colleagues from work for cocktails and dinner. The artistry and craftsmanship from the bar staff is exceptional. While the food was good, there's opportunity for improvement. Let's with drinks. Although not on the menu, I ordered The Last Word because I had a feeling they'd have no trouble executing this prohibition era classic that features Green Chartreuse. And I was right and it was better than I'd make it myself! The Fatte Sau was a big hit: an old fashioned with "fat washed" bourbon and amaro. Fantastic. Finally the Devils Backbone featured cognac, lemon, allspice, and egg white was pleasing as well. Now that we're loosened up it's time to eat. Appetizers are the strong point of the menu in my opinion. If I was to come back I'd just order all apps and drinks. The deviled eggs are some of the best I've had. So silky and creamy. Each one delicately assembled and topped with mustard seeds, pickle relish and bacon. I could eat a dozen. The pimento dip was unique and decadent. Served with crostini, radishes, and large cucumber slices for spreading. Both were incredibly enjoyable. Entrees were hit and miss. The smoked and fried 1/2 chicken didn't quite hit the mark for me. The outer fried coating was like a turtle shell and when the tried to break into it, it just crumbles away from the meat leaving a pile of inedible crunchy flakes all over a plate that's way too small to accommodate a half chicken worth of parts! It came with a spicy aioli dipper, but found it just didn't pair right with this dish. A light brown gravy would be better. The whole thing was frustrating to eat. The mac and cheese might be the biggest disappointment of all. Flavorless and bland without even a hint of salt. All show, no go. Never seen a big platter of mac and cheese sit in front of 4 adults and not get touched. Says it all! The salmon suffered from the same heavy handedness as the chicken. It was so encrusted with pistachios you couldn't appreciate the delicate poached salmon underneath. It's like they were showcasing the nuts rather than the fish. Just my opinion and some people might like it like that. The Rev Burger was good. A double patty beef burger with cheddar, bacon, 1000 island on brioche. Overall a good experience. The ambiance is very nice. Elegant without being pretentious. The staff really make this place. From the hostess to the waiter to the busboy they were all friendly and professional. I'll probably come back for cocktails and apps for sure.

Stopped in here after a company Christmas party at the MAG. Ive seen the Revelry as I've driven by on several occasions, and as part of a recommended place to stop for a drink. Glad we tried it. The menu is vast and options for everyone. The employees were great as well.

What a lovely first experience I had at The Revelry! We had a party of 4, including 2 out of town guests for the holiday. I tend to have a hard time ordering, and our male server was quick to suggest some of their top items as well as delicious cocktails. I would recommend grabbing some appetizers to share, they were all fantastic! The ambiance was dim and inviting, our service top notch and we all left feeling full and satisfied.

We had a great dinner here. Came here on a weekday for an anniversary dinner. I love the decor. There are two floors for seating, we opted with the upstairs because it honestly smelled like cooked fish/fishy downstairs when we walked in. Everyone who worked there was very nice and helpful. We both enjoyed our drinks and they came quickly. The food came out pretty quickly. Food was great, and the menu has a nice variety of options.

I enjoyed my food. The deviled eggs are still really good. My salmon & grits 10/10. I haven't been here in years, it's officially added back to my restaurant rotation!

I got the chicken and waffles, the waffles tasted very dry and old. The chicken was extremely overcooked and probably refried and served to us.

My favorite dish was the New England Chowder Style Fish Soup. It was so fresh and flavorful. The cod tasted so good with the potatoes, carrots, onions and parsley. All of our dishes were prepared by a very friendly lady who immigrated from the DR. Everything tasted incredible and we left feeling very satiated. Definitely can't wait to come back! Would recommend making reservations beforehand since there's only space for ~16 ppl.

It was creamy and well portioned even for two of us sharing. We then opted for the littleneck clams, which was served with chorizo. The broth/soup was perfect to dip some house rolls! We then ended with our favorite thing on the menu - the shrimp sliders, well seasoned and served with a side or chips For dessert we had the lovely, rich budino. A cup of coffee on the side hit the spot! What I truly love about this place is the transparency - the cook is right in front of you! The servers are not just taking orders, they actually understand the menu, the ingredients, the pairings. You can ask questions and get real answers. At one point I thought, these aren't bartenders, they're scientists. The level of knowledge and attention to detail is just different. The food completely lived up to that same standard. Every single person at the table was happy with their meal, which honestly says a lot. No one was picking around their plate or wishing they ordered something else. The chef clearly knows what they're doing. Everything was thoughtful, balanced, and just really, really good. Quick note on dessert though. It didn't quite match the level of the rest of the menu. Not bad, just not on the same level. If you're trying to be strategic, you can probably skip it and leave happy. Parking is easy, which I always appreciate. You've got valet or you can self park, so no stress there. If you're in Rochester, you really can't skip Redd Wood. It's one of those places that makes the whole dining experience feel elevated without being over the top. Definitely worth it.

For the price, we were completely underwhelmed For starters, we ordered two different cocktails. The May queen was fabulous the bebbo was tasty, but you couldn't taste any gin in it We started with the Lyonnaise salad , smoked beets, Swedish meatballs, tuna tartare and chicken wings The salad was our favorite, the tuna lacked flavor and we detected no smokiness in the beets. The meatballs were light and the sauce flavorful, would've loved a few more June berries. Chicken wings were nicely spiced and no too saucy For the main we shared 2 steak frites- a bit more well done than the medium rare ordered but tender and tasty, fries are great- bordelaise sauce didn't have the depth of flavor I expected. For dessert we shared the lemon poppyseed cake and chocolate mouse. The cake was light and Lemony with a hint of poppyseed flavor. The mousse was very odd- super pale in color and the crunchy bits on top did not pair well with the texture of the mousse Service was attentive, sometimes a bit too much- reaching across the table to fill waters... maybe leave a bottle on the table? It was a completely male staff... Male servers, male, valets, male bartenders. We did wonder where the women were.

Every dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. This is the kind of meal you keep talking about long after you leave. What truly elevated the night, though, was the service. Our waiter Andy was phenomenal. Attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and effortlessly professional. He struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering, and his recommendations were spot on. Junior waiter James was equally impressive, thoughtful, polished, and clearly invested in making sure we had a great experience. They made us feel celebrated without being over-the-top, which is not easy to do. The entire team contributed to an atmosphere that felt upscale, welcoming, and memorable. If you are celebrating something important or simply want an incredible dining experience, Black & Blue delivers on every level. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate such a milestone birthday. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, this Mother's Day 5/10/26 experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to leave a review. We had reservations for 3:30 PM on Mother's Day, and in the special request section of the reservation, I clearly specified that this was a Mother's Day celebration. I also requested a quiet or private booth and mentioned that my daughter is vegetarian. Upon arrival, we were seated upstairs directly next to what appeared to be an employee service area. We could constantly hear employees talking, dishes being washed or thrown around, and overall it was easily the loudest table in the restaurant. What made this more frustrating was that another couple seated next to us complained loudly about their table and caused a scene. Although staff initially explained the restaurant was full, they were eventually moved. Meanwhile, we had politely requested a better table in advance through the reservation system, yet because we were patient and understanding, it felt like we were simply ignored. Service throughout the meal was inconsistent and inattentive. It took quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The wine menu presented to me only included wines by the glass, despite the fact that I later saw servers bringing full bottles of wine and champagne to other tables. I wanted to order a bottle of champagne for the occasion, but by the time our waitress finally arrived, I didn't want to complicate things further. Another detail that stood out was the complete lack of acknowledgment for Mother's Day. I overheard our waitress enthusiastically wishing other tables a "Happy Mother's Day" and asking if they were celebrating anything special, yet she never once acknowledged me or our celebration. My husband ordered a piña colada and was told they could not make one, so he settled for a strawberry martini that was overwhelmingly sweet and unenjoyable. We chose not to complain. The food itself, as always, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. However, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. I was planning to order my favorite espresso martini after dinner, but instead the bill was simply dropped at the table without anyone asking if we wanted dessert or another drink. One employee who was handling bread and water service also made us feel rushed. While I was literally still chewing my food, she interrupted to ask, "Should I bag that for you?" It made me feel like we were being pushed out. I was also disappointed that despite specifically mentioning my daughter was vegetarian in the reservation notes, our waitress never offered vegetarian suggestions or asked about dietary restrictions. At most upscale restaurants, this level of attentiveness is expected. The most upsetting part of the evening, however, was what felt like dismissive and unprofessional behavior toward us as Latinos. My husband has an accent, and our waitress repeatedly pretended not to understand him. At one point, after commenting on his accent, she laughed and said, "Or maybe I'm deaf." We found this rude, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. Ironically, despite the poor experience, I still tipped over 20% -- more than $100 from our table alone -- because I did not want to reinforce unfair stereotypes about Latinos not tipping. Black & Blue has always justified its upscale pricing through excellent food and outstanding hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the food remains exceptional, the atmosphere has become extremely loud and chaotic, to the point where it reminded me more of Red Lobster than the elevated dining experience this restaurant once offered. I truly hope management takes customer service more seriously moving forward, because this visit was nowhere near the standard Black & Blue used to represent.
