We were visiting family in the area and they took us to Revelry on a quiet Wednesday evening. The restaurant had an upscale feel between the decor and the friendly staff. We got the oysters on the half shell, Texas twinkies & fried green tomatoes. We never had a Texas Twinkie and it was surprisingly delicious. I could've had that as my meal. Food- ordered husband puppies as a appetizers had to return them as they smelled like seafood as soon as they came to the table. When I asked if they were vegetarian like the menu suggest, I was told well.they are fried in the same fryer as fish and shrimp. YUCK!! The black bean burgers were very bland and boring for $21!!! When I asked about the $15 cocktails I was told they were made with WELL liquor EWWWEEE!!! Service- it was 10 minutes before the server came to our table. But was very nice. Stopped by revelry with some colleagues from work for cocktails and dinner. The artistry and craftsmanship from the bar staff is exceptional. While the food was good, there's opportunity for improvement. Let's with drinks. Although not on the menu, I ordered The Last Word because I had a feeling they'd have no trouble executing this prohibition era classic that features Green Chartreuse. And I was right and it was better than I'd make it myself! The Fatte Sau was a big hit: an old fashioned with "fat washed" bourbon and amaro. Fantastic. Finally the Devils Backbone featured cognac, lemon, allspice, and egg white was pleasing as well. Now that we're loosened up it's time to eat. Appetizers are the strong point of the menu in my opinion. If I was to come back I'd just order all apps and drinks. The deviled eggs are some of the best I've had. So silky and creamy. Each one delicately assembled and topped with mustard seeds, pickle relish and bacon. I could eat a dozen. The pimento dip was unique and decadent. Served with crostini, radishes, and large cucumber slices for spreading. Both were incredibly enjoyable. Entrees were hit and miss. The smoked and fried 1/2 chicken didn't quite hit the mark for me. The outer fried coating was like a turtle shell and when the tried to break into it, it just crumbles away from the meat leaving a pile of inedible crunchy flakes all over a plate that's way too small to accommodate a half chicken worth of parts! It came with a spicy aioli dipper, but found it just didn't pair right with this dish. A light brown gravy would be better. The whole thing was frustrating to eat. The mac and cheese might be the biggest disappointment of all. Flavorless and bland without even a hint of salt. All show, no go. Never seen a big platter of mac and cheese sit in front of 4 adults and not get touched. Says it all! The salmon suffered from the same heavy handedness as the chicken. It was so encrusted with pistachios you couldn't appreciate the delicate poached salmon underneath. It's like they were showcasing the nuts rather than the fish. Just my opinion and some people might like it like that. The Rev Burger was good. A double patty beef burger with cheddar, bacon, 1000 island on brioche. Overall a good experience. The ambiance is very nice. Elegant without being pretentious. The staff really make this place. From the hostess to the waiter to the busboy they were all friendly and professional. I love The Revelry as a cocktail bar! The drinks are creative and delicious and the ambiance is great for a catch up with friends over a drink. However, I went for dinner for the first time recently, and I wasn't super impressed. My fiancé ordered the jambalaya risotto -- which was under the entree section and not cheap, mind you -- and what came out was quite literally four bites of food. The whole table genuinely laughed when it was set down in front of him, and we had to get burgers after because he was still hungry. For a $30 dish, we probably won't be risking another meal there. I'll stick to drinks. read more

This is my experience take it or leave it. This is a difficult review to write as we have been to the Revelry a few times in the past and have always enjoyed ourselves and the food. We also got to enjoy Chef Cruz Nieves culinary skills when they were the head chef at a newly opened Rella ( still a solid place to go). I say all that because my wife and I were very excited to celebrate the new year by attending Chef Cruz Nieves "last supper of 2024". We arrived early and were greeted by the host who happily found us a table. We were seated on the second floor away from the noise of the bar downstairs which was very nice. The server was very good as well. They were attentive and kept the cocktails (the best part of the night, other than my wife) flowing. I'm not sure if they still have it on the menu but the Sgt pepper cocktail was on point. Let's now dive into the unfortunate last supper of 2024 . We started with the pork belly buns and smoked beets starters. The pork belly was cooked very well but my buns were over done and on the verge of being burnt. Flavor was solid though. The beets were by far the best dish we had all night. I've never had Tahini that tasted that good. So far an ok start. We then got the hot honey duck confit and clams casino ( they were out of the short rib ragu lasagna that sounded fantastic). The duck was cooked well but the breading was about 3/4" thick and there was no hot in the hot honey. Flavor was ok but nothing special. The clams casino were almost to salty for me to eat and were sitting on a bed of more sea salt incase you wanted to have a heart attack for new year's. I wouldn't order either again. We ended with the scallops and tenderloin. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty but in the end it was just a tenderloin, no wow factor in the dish. The scallops on the other hand suffered the same fate as the clams. My wife had to "wash" them in the bean ragu to make them edible. This however made the sauce inedible. I wouldn't order either again. Dessert was not included in the 3 course $95 per person price tag. None of which sounded appealing enough for us to pay for at this point. 6 drinks between the two of us came to $295 not including tip. I understand $84 of that is from cocktails but, this is high-end big city pricing that deserves the same quality that you can expect from a fine dining establishment. Instead we just got mediocre food and a big bill. To Revelry: If you are going to put your name on the event, unfortunately you are going to have to take the rating hit. To be fair, not necessarily deserved by The Revelry themselves and we will most likely visit again, but they did bring in Chef Cruz Nieves for the event so my rating stands for now. Chef Cruz Nieves: Last night was quite disappointing, we hope that if and when you open your new resturant, that your quality improves back to what we received at Rella a few years back. I tend to have a hard time ordering, and our male server was quick to suggest some of their top items as well as delicious cocktails. It's a high-end bar with some surprises that make it worth it. Yes, it's expensive is fuuuuuuck, but it's to be expected. Drinks are fantastic, and almost make them worth the price. The food is also good, the chicken wings were a little underdonen (not crispy), but the appetizers we had were fantastic. Their fries are fried in duck fat, and they might be the best I've ever had. I went for a business dinner with a big group on a Friday night. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the food. It was overpriced pub food with a "fancy" chef twist that I didn't like. The place was beautiful with a good ambiance and pleasant workers, but it was too loud for business discussions. The cocktails were very strong, which might be acceptable if you're 21 and want to get drunk quickly. The salmon came on a bed of fennel--who eats fennel like potatoes?! The cheesesteak, an imitation of a Philly, was made with refried brisket and was salty and dry on a dry toasted bun. The fries were good, though. The wings were okay, but I wouldn't recommend them if you're wearing a suit with a white shirt. It took one hour for the food to show up. read more

Came here on a snowy winter night for a special occasion, right after indoor dining reopened, and could not have asked for a better experience. I had been here for drinks at the bar once before (pre-covid) and already knew the atmosphere was just my kind of vibe. While the bar beverages weren't as great as I remember, the entrees were so delicious. I ordered the glazed salmon. Can we have a quick moment to just pay homage to those parmesan grits? Because OMG. So good. Everything else that came with the dish was also fantastic, but I'll be dreaming about those grits for awhile. My date had the Nashville Hot Chicken which he had only good things to say about. The staff graciously accommodated his substitution request for brussels sprouts without the bacon (instead of fries) for a very reasonable upcharge. A full five stars for this outing on the hardest of times our local restaurant scene has probably ever endured. Staff was awesome, everything was clean, all pandemic protocols observed. The Revelry was a treat, providing great food, great service and a fine dining experience. This was our first time there and we really weren't sure what to expect. They don't have an extensive menu, but they do offer a nice variety of options. My wife opted for the salmon while I went for one of their specials, seafood frite over squid ink pasta. We also went with the arancini which was another special. The arancini was easily the best we've ever had. After cleaning the dishes and silverware from the appetizer they reset the table and were back in a reasonable amount of time with our meal, which did not disappoint. I have never ate here before so I cannot attest to their food. ** The Revelry has the most unique and tastiest cocktails that is also not "downtown". I can easily park and access this location without a headache or worry. This is my husband's and I go to spot for a cocktail whether it be the beginning or ending of a date night. I always know I can come here and get something that is delicious and unique. The bartenders are always friendly and up for conversation. We always enjoy their stories, drink recommendations or music discussions. The biggest annoyance is the sun in your eyes when sitting at the bar during sunset. They have shades and tinted windows but the sun just needs to have the final say at the end of the day. I suppose we should enjoy it since Rochester rarely sees the sun ‍. Just bring your sunglasses or baseball cap. If you enjoy cocktails outside of Rum N Cokes or margaritas, come here and step outside your comfort zone. read more

Came here at opening for brunch this past weekend and had a great experience. Staff was very flexible for our large group of 10 and did a great job keeping track of everyone's drinks and meals, including some dietary restrictions. I had the Chicken and Waffles, which was very good. Chicken was crispy and a little fatty, which I liked. Seemed like chicken thigh meat, which everyone knows is the most juicy and tender and no bones! Waffle was slightly cool, so I wish that was definitely. However, the honey butter to put on it was awesome and made up for the low temp. Dinner is much more pricey while the brunch is reasonably priced. With that said, I had such a nice experience that I think I will make a push to try The Revelry for my next special occasion. 5 stars! read more

Seated promptly with our reservation. Restaurant was not busy.....hmmmm. Our waiter was fine; crisp service. The bus person who seemed like she didn't want to be bothered poured water on the floor and table as well as the foot of one in our party. Walked away and returned to mop up the floor...never asked if anyone had gotten wet. Menu has eliminated some of our former go to items like the shrimp. Parker hour rolls were good. The market price steak was a skirt steak and SO salty it was virtually inedible. The lasagna was good but the accompanying brisket was blob next to the lasagna in the bowl and difficult to eat with no flavor/sauce. Drinks were good. Mistakes were made... I believe they can do better. We came for our first time, for brunch. First impression: the space was beautiful. But our table and chairs weren't clean- crumbs (shocking to see in the covid era). But ok, then we ordered drinks: an orange juice and a hot coco. Not fresh squeezed, and hot coco tasted like a good mix. They put the emphasis on their brunch cocktails, but it's the details in the non-alcoholic drinks that would make a 5 star experience. But then... the giant mistake: my partner ordered "Nashville hot chicken" on French toast. And it wasnt hot. Like the chef made a mistake or there was miscommunication? Not sure what happened there. But we love Nashville, and I think the city would've been offended their name was used on the menu for this. And I got the biscuits and gravy with an egg and home fries. It was very good. Like a solid 4 stars, but not life-changing to achieve 5. I heard there's a new chef: hello chef! If you're reading this, we believe in you! Theres a lot of potential and we want to come back for dinner. I think management needs to step up with cleaning procedures and staff training (our waitress was ok). My husband made reservations for our anniversary here and we enjoyed the ambiance outside. We ordered a variety of food including appetizers and entrees. Everything was good. The crab cake sandwich was amazing. I wasn't a fan of the fried green tomatoes. They were thin, served under temp and the sauce was overwhelming. My husband loved his steak and chicken entrees. I am glad that we requested to eat outside because I felt that it was the best decision considering the alternative. We did see several patrons and a full bar having drinks and socializing, without masks, during our check in. This isn't really a regular review, but a winter dining review! My husband and I were looking to get out of the house and noticed that the Revelry has outdoor igloos with a limited dining and drink menu for the winter months. There are several other area restaurants doing outdoor igloos or patio seating during the winter months, but quite a few places had non-refundable deposits and food/drink minimums. We were pleased to see that Revelry didn't require these, and immediately booked a reservation! They have 2 igloos that can be reserved for 60-minute intervals. They kept tightly to the schedule and we were seated exactly at our scheduled reservation time. The igloo was super cute, with string lights, lots of candles, and a small space heater. It is a little chilly, but with a warm coat and a hat, I was comfortable. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. It was the perfect little date night and it felt great to "go out"! This time was better than my last. We got the cornbread as an appetizer, which was drizzled in honey. Absolutely mouthwatering. As an entree, I got the fried chicken which was excellent. The breading was very crispy--however, it kept falling off of the meat itself so it was a bit challenging to try and get both the breading/skin and actual meat at the same time. It was still delicious though, and came with a great buffalo hot sauce. I got two East Enders to drink, and they were amazing. My friend was not as fortunate with his drink choices-- he got an "In Da Club," which he ended up returning because it was pretty heavy on the vodka, and they graciously allowed us to return it. He then asked for a rum and coke--light on the rum--and when he got it, we could both taste that there was an overwhelming amount of rum. A bit unfortunate, but overall the visit was still good. The desserts were also a bit underwhelming, one was essentially biscuits and fruit, and the other was a wine flavored sorbet. Nothing amazing. We were there Friday November 15th 2024, for dinner. It started with the drink order, my wife asked for a Cosmo with grapefruit juice instead of cranberry and they brought it with cranberry. She ordered the burger medium rare and it was well done like a hockey puck and one side burnt to a crisp. I ordered the brisket cheesesteak and the brisket was like burnt droppings you would find at the bottom of a fry pan!
