Their Hot and Sour Soup really hit the spot on a cold day. Portion was good for the price. Had a lot pieces of pork and tofu. It was perfectly thick. I add a little vinegar and chili paste to my bowl. I like it extra sour and spicy. The Beef Chow Fun was just ok though, nothing special. I'll be back to try some other dishes. First time coming here, drove 45 minutes to try this place because of the reviews. Service was excellent, the place looks clean but the food wasn't that good. There are a lot better Peruvian restaurants around. I ordered Pollada, the chicken was tasty but it looked like my chicken was missing meat. I got the part with the "legs" supposed to be a quarter of the chicken and what I saw was more skin and bones not much meat on my chicken. I love the taste of the 3 pieces of potatoes that come with it. Maybe they removed some meat from the chicken to make other plates. My sister got Tallarín saltado, it was a good portion and all we can taste was the soy sauce. It was too much soy sauce that the plate looked more like soy sauce soup, we left the plate full and took it home because my sister didn't want to make the chef and waitress feel bad since they were very nice. I usually will say something but I was with my sister and didn't want to make her uncomfortable. Not coming here any more. read more

"Wonton Soup" No flavor in the broth not was the wonton noodle,and meat inside flavorful. "Beef Chow Fun" No flavor at all. We were in Vallejo to visit a business that didn't open until 4pm. What to do until then? Lunch sounded good. It was close to noon so we pulled out our phones and started looking on yelp. Chinese is always a good standby for us. We can order a few dishes and get a sampling of their offers. We looked at a few lunch menus before deciding on Lucky Garden. Two things caught our eyes. The rating of 4.5 stars and Tomato Beef Chow Mein with an option of Curry. Mmmmm. The restaurant shares a parking lot with an insurance company. There were a few cars in the lot when we arrived. When we got to the front door, there was a sign posted on the middle of the door that said to ring the door bell if the door was locked. It was. We rang. A server came over and unlocked the door. The first thing that we noticed when we stepped in was a funky smell. While it didn't bother us, we know that others not used to the aroma might find it off-putting. The distinctive funk made me think of hanging salted fish drying in the sun. And like many smells, after a few minutes, we didn't notice it any longer. We were the only guests. She asked if we wanted to order to go or for here? We opted to eat in. We were seated with menus. After a few minutes of rattling around, she gave us tumblers of ice water, napkins and forks. We ordered: Shrimp Potstickers - 3 - These were listed on the Specials Board just inside the door. The description was off in that the filling was primarily pork with probably some shrimp paste mixed in as opposed to being fully filled with shrimp. While the bottoms had a nice color to them, they were not as crispy as expected. Overall the flavor was good. Won Ton Soup - 3 - One medium pork won ton in a relatively bland chicken soup. Okay for a soup being serves as part of a lunch special but could have been better if the soup had been hotter. Sweet & Sour Pork with Deep Fried Won Ton Skin and Steamed Rice - 2 - Chunks of lean pork deep fried were chewier than expected or desired. The sweet and sour sauce was okay without being too sweet but missing were pineapple chunks. The steamed rice seemed to be a bit crunchy. Leftovers? Tomato Beef Chow Mein with Curry - 3 - So many restaurants now forget to put in the Green Peppers and Onions and offer a scant amount of Tomatoes. Not here. Lots of veg, some beef and a reasonable amount of noodles. While I could smell the curry and got a hint of it at the end of each fork full, the curry flavor was very subtle. I'm thinking that it was overwhelmed by the sugar that had been added to the dish. Our server had asked us several times if everything was okay. We did not complain because there was nothing really wrong with the food. It just wasn't to our tastes. She was friendly and had a short conversation with my dining companion while I was stuck on the telephone for a few minutes. read more
