Great place for flavorful Peruvian comfort food that hits all the right notes! Food Quality Ordered a solid variety and everything was absolutely delicious: - Tiradito Ceviche (halibut ceviche): fresh with the perfect kick, tangy and refreshing - Lomo Saltado (wok fried meat plater): Got both chicken and beef versions, both were tender, flavorful, and cooked just right - Bistec a lo Pobre (grilled NY steak with chimichurri): medium rare was perfectly executed - Lucuma Ice Cream: Great way to end the meal Service Experience Visited mid-afternoon and staff was genuinely friendly Server gave solid recommendations on their popular dishes Value & Atmosphere Portions were reasonable for the price point Comfortable spot for families Cleanliness Clean restroom facilities in the back (always appreciated!)

    Empanadas (all four)

I've been so excited to try this restaurant after hearing raving reviews from my boyfriend and his dad. My boyfriend and I ate an early lunch here yesterday after a hike in the area. We were greeted and seated immediately. There was a party of 6 who came right before we did and there was one server so service was fairly slow. It took about 10-15 minutes before we got our complimentary water and orders in. We didn't mind the wait for our food as with all good things -- it's worth a wait. We were a bit disappointed that all of our food came out at the same time as we were waiting for the appetizer for us to start with. What we ordered: Empanadas (appetizer): We ordered all 4 of the empanadas they offer. It comes with a delicious sauce (salsa criolla, olive, and huacatay) and pickled onions. Such a fan!!! 10/10 Arroz con Mariscos (main course): Great to share for 2! Seafood was delicious and fresh. The rice is cooked perfectly (you'd be surprised how many restaurants can get this part wrong). Definitely order this one. 10/10 Platanos Maduros (side): We were both disappointed as the plantains were not ripe enough so it was difficult to eat. The flavor was there but it was a tough eat. 4/10 Cancha: SO delicious. I am now on the lookout to find these locally. 10/10 Sazon Cooler: A refreshing guava lemonade. 10/10 Overall, I'll definitely be back. There were some minor hiccups but this place has a wonderful ambiance and DELICIOUS food. Try this place out if you're in the area!

Delicious lunch at Sazón today! We split the ahi tuna appetizer and the burger. Both dishes had great flavor and we enjoyed top tier service. I loved sitting outside in the sun as well.

As you can see from our picture, I had no time to document and only had time to devour. I have been looking for an authentic Peruvian food place for the longest time! I live in Marin county and we only have a place called ayawaska but it was never one of my favorites ( and overpriced) especially knowing how amazing Peruvian cuisine is. My Dad recommended this place to me ( he is Peruvian) so I had high hopes. As we walked in we were greeted very nicely by our server and by a small cute black cat. We got sat very quickly and our server was polite and efficient. The food was exactly what I was looking for ! It's the most Authentic I've had so far. I had the Lomo Saltado, the portion was perfect and the flavor was as well, I asked for a side of hot salsa and it was definitely spicy to my liking! My partner had the ceviche, he is typically very picky but he absolutely loved the ceviche! The other person we were with had wings and they also said those were good! We will be making this a mandatory stop from now on and I can't wait to come back! ( please note that in Peru animals such as cats are everywhere so if you have a problem with this maybe don't come here. This is truly Authentic!)

My friend and I had the Ahi De Gallina, Ceviche Mixto, Chicken and Veggie Empanadas, and Plantain Chips, and it was all excellent! Our servers were so nice and it was neat to have the owner's cat and dog. there! It is a bit pricey but definitely special and worth it for a special occasion!

Lomo Saltado and an incredibly creamy pesto pasta with shrimp

Sazón is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Rosa and definitely one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants, ever. Case and point: a few months ago, we went to a very beautiful Peruvian restaurant in New York City - it was double the price and the food was good but my partner and I agreed that the quality, flavor, and overall preparation of the dishes still did not compare to Sazón. This restaurant has an understated interior with an incredible friendly staff including the owner Jose, who checks in regularly and, at a recent visit, ensured that we got to our movie on time. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Rosa for a date night or celebration and we look forward to going back soon!

Anticuchos de Corazõn (Beef Heart Skewers)

It was a bit warm when we entered inside. There were a bunch of ceiling fans running, so I guess no AC. There are quite a few tables, as it's also attached to their deli. The mango ceviche was recommended by the waiter. The shrimp were quite firm, but I liked the plantain chips. The beef heart skewers were good and I liked trying the different sauces that came with it. The ahi tuna salad (Ensalada Nikei) isn't really Peruvian, but I enjoyed it. It was light and tasty. While we were eating, we spotted a black cat. It was roaming around the restaurant. My bf petted it and I saw another customer hold it. I'm not sure how I feel about it being at the restaurant. The main reason why I chose this restaurant is because I saw this place had solid reviews and I had a gift card. I was a bit annoyed when the waiter returned with the gift card and stated the machine wasn't working, so he couldn't run the card. I guess I'll have to try to use the card another day.

Adobo de Chancho - braised pork

After several people recommended this place, we decided to stop in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Peruvian food is somewhat of a mystery to us but we knew we could get some help from our server. When we entered the restaurant doors, I noticed a few tables and the kitchen. I walked over to the doorway to the right and noticed a very large dining area. This is where we were seated. There is a deli there that serves sandwiches and other lunch items. It took us a little while to read through their menus and we asked for recommendations from our server. We finally decided on the following off of their Clasicos menu: Pollo a la Brasa - slow roasted Rocky chicken with salad and fries Adobo de Chancho - braised pork with Peruvian beans and rice Bistec a lo Pobre - grilled steak with chimichurri sauce, fries, sweet plantains, egg and rice There was a large table that was seated before us and so it took some time for our food to arrive. We were all quite hungry by the time our food was served and we were anxious to take a bite of each other's dishes. The clear favorite was the Bistec. The chimichurri sauce complemented the steak beautifully and my bite was bursting with flavor. It's a winner! We had a leisurely lunch and didn't feel rushed at all. Parking lots available in the front, back and side of the restaurant.

My first impression : we parking in the side of the restaurant. There is a beautiful mural of lama on the wall. We wait a few minutes for seating as lot of people in house before us. It is Mother's Day 5/11/24. So happy that I chose Saxon to celebrate tonight. Enjoy every bite of it. Started with Empanadas, crispy shell dipping with green sauce and red onion pickle. Yum My dish was Arroz con Mariscos : Peruvian version of paella creamy yellow rice with flavorful seafood Also, we had Sangria Roja, easy to drink. Close up with Flan and Lucuma ice cream This experience made my mother's memorable

Mixto Ceviche, Lomo Saltado the the special Talapia.

I also was very curious about Peruvian ceviche. Mexican-style ceviche is one of my favorite things and I make it a lot, but had never had Peruvian ceviche. It seemed like the perfect lunch. The restaurant is really beautiful inside, with wood and stone and earthy colors. The place settings are all very nice handcrafted ceramics and the bar was a giant wooden fancy installation. During the day it was very quiet, but with all the hard surfaces, I imagine it was pretty boisterous at night. I told the waitperson that I was interested in ceviche and whether he had recommendations. He pointed me towards the ceviche carretillero (cart ceviche), which he said also had their house ceviche, fried calamari, fried yucca and plaintains and that it would be more substantial for a lunch. I later looked up "ceviche carretillero" and found out that in Peru, a street food was ceviche topped with crunch fried calamari and that it was very popular and served out of carts! The preparation was lovely, with a pile of their fish of the day, which was a type of cod, in the middle with shredded onions on top. surrounding it was fried calamari, sweet potato, yucca, and extremely thin and beautifully fried plaintain strips. He offered to pour the small pitcher of Sangre de tigre on top and I agreed. Sangre de tigre is the marinade used to "cook" the fish. It is different than Mexican ceviche!! While not spicy with chiles, it was spicy with ginger and I don't know what else. It hits your throat, not your palate, which I thought was so interesting. I would not say it was "hot spicy", but I did cough a bit when I swallowed! It was very good! The fish was cut into fairly big rough pieces so you could really taste it. The calamari was excellent, as were the yucca and plaintain. I used the plaintain like I would fried tortillas in a Mexican ceviche, and using it almost like a spoon. I don't know if that was proper or not, but it worked for me! The Yucca would have been perfect with some mojo sauce, but that's a Cuban thing. I wonder if their is a comparable Peruvian sauce? The portion was generous and perfect for someone who came to lunch hungry. I really enjoyed my little middle of the day splurge lunch!

Perhaps next time we'll try the Ceviche as we will return if they can remain in business with such little traffic. While not inexpensive the value is solid as you would pay far more in any other good Sonoma County restaurants for similar dishes. Polite if a bit shy service but man did she light up when we went head over heels over her family home made hot sauces which are a "must try" if you have an appropriate appetizer.
