I realized I have been coming here for over 20 years, back when they had a tent at the Wednesday/Thursday night market. They have changed hands and it looks a little more updated, floors, tables and chairs, but the decor is similar. The fountain runs no more but is still decorated nicely. It was a quiet Wednesday night so we were well attended to and food came out quickly. My dad knew he wanted duck and had 5 menu options to choose from. He went with the pineapple duck and he was soo happy. It was a very large portion, and he was very happy to be able to enjoy the meal again the next day. I also enjoyed a nice large portion of peanut sauce noodles with chicken, that lasted me a few meals as well. We did start off with some crispy coconut shrimp that were delicious! I was glad to see there were picked up orders as we dined because it never had more than two tables seated while we were there. Stopped by this place today and indeed it is a hidden gem on 4th street. The place was busy. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They had several options for the lunch special and the bbq pork did not disappoint. I sat traditional style on the floor and it was great! I also had a Thai tea and they did a great job on that also. While there were a couple of small heaters on the ceiling, they did nothing to warm the room so your fiid gets cold quickly. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I started with the spring rolls with peanut sauce (which looked spicy, though wasn't). Then a bowl of Tom Kha soup. It was really good, though why they put a huge piece of tomato in it, I'm not sure. Thai House got the flavors right, but the bill is a shock. Take the dodgy elevator to second floor, this spot has an average atmosphere with the option for traditional floor seating for a more authentic feel. The Panang Curry was delicious - vegan-friendly (no oyster sauce) and served with a very generous portion and a proper veg-to-tofu ratio. The Drunken Noodles was well-balanced with plenty of veggies, and the Spring Rolls had a good crunch (and I appreciated that they were mushroom-free). The pricing is the main drawback. At $20 per entree, it's a steep ask for the average diner. Even in high-end SF neighborhoods, you can often find comparable quality for less. Bottom Line: I would love to return, but the pricing isn't sustainable for regular visits. I'd definitely be back if the price point better matched the local area and the current state of the economy. read more

If you're looking for a good place to have a lunch special, this is it. They have a prefix menu with things that come in the combo that they have chosen for you and you can just pick one of them. The curry was really tasty, but I wish I could've had crunchy spring rolls, but they said I couldn't change it. We got the pad Thai and pad c ew which both were huge portions and a lot of flavor. Sometimes the sauce can be a miss or dry but the noodles were saucy and packed flavor. Delicious hidden gem. You have to go up the stairs to find it which are tucked between two separate restaurant's patio seating. Service was friendly, the Thai iced teas were perfect, not too sweet, and the food was super tasty. The restaurant is on the second floor, kind of hidden. The bathrooms are not easily accessible as they are shared with other businesses upstairs. The food is very large portions but not over the top with flavor. Half of the dining room is very casual and older, the other half is more traditional and unique where you sit on the floor. It's great for a quick lunch but not where I would go for celebration or hosting guests. The service is very good though and they are very kind and attentive! Anytime we're visiting Santa Rosa, we stop here for takeout to eat in the hotel. It's easy to miss this spot because it's door is located between two businesses since it's upstairs. We always get a soup, pad see ew, and a papaya salad. When we order in person it typically takes no more than 20 mins for it to be ready, so we just take a stroll outside or in the mall. My least favorite dish from them might be the papaya salad, but it's good for us to get our veggies in and they give you a decent amount of it. My favorite dish from them is probably the pad see ew. I just love this dish in general. It had the really nice sweetness from the soy that I really enjoy. We've also had the tom ka soup from here and it's solid too. Great for a cold day to be honest. I ordered the Mussaman Curry with Chicken and 1 order of crispy rolls through door dash on a Sunday afternoon. I received my order at my door in approximately 25 minutes after placing it. Let me tell you that I had to wait at least an additional 25 minutes before I could even eat my Mussaman Curry as it was soooo hot! I'm not mad at that though. I ended up finishing the crispy egg rolls while I waited for my curry to cool down. They too were hot like they came fresh out the fryer. They were crispy delish! Finally my Mussaman Curry was decent (not bad, not great), and fresh tasting. They included 2 chili sauces to add. One hot one not so hot. And the portion was so large. I ended up letting my sister have at it and even after still had left overs for lunch the next day. I can't wait to try more of their menu. With the help of Yelp and all the great Yelpers, we have found our favorite Thai restaurant in Santa Rosa :) My wife is vegetarian and allergic to seafood and they were able to prepare dishes without fish sauce and oyster sauce. She enjoyed the Pumpkin Curry with Veggies. We usually get Pad See Ew with vegetables, extra spicy but the server recommended the Drunken Noodles because it had more flavor and spice. She was spot on and we loved it! I had the Trout with tamarind sauce and asked if they could prepare the fish another way than deep frying. The server recommended grilling the fish and again, it was a fantastic choice! We appreciated the wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable service. However, the pineapple fried rice I got was super bland. There was no sweetness, no spice, and it lacked flavor overall. We have had their food before and if was fairly decent, but our last order wasn't up to par. We decided to try again because our fav was closed. We asked for no plastic to go containers and unfortunately they called to say they could not accommodate the request. When I said that that's unfortunate and I hope that they will change that, the person seemed a bit impatient and said they didn't want to argue, and that they will not be changing their packaging as its the only thing strong enough. To which I replied that I am not arguing, but their competitor uses non-plastic containers without issue so that's simply not true. We wish more restaurants would stop using plastic. The soup was so sour it was really tasting off. My husbands Panang curry also was not that great. It was very watery and lacked flavor. It was only spicy. My Uber salad was ok. My yellow curry was good but I wish I had more flavor like I am used to from other Thai restaurants we have visited in the past. Rice had to be ordered as a side and charged for. The waiter was sort of grumpy and didn't speak much. We felt as if we were an inconvenience. Never came back to check if we needed more water or wanted another Ice Tea. It was Sunday at prime lunch time and there was only one other table occupied. While we were eating one more small group came in but that was it. The restaurants next door were hopping. I was impressed by the amount of options and combinations. The portions were huge and very reasonable for the price ($17). I ended up with leftovers so really this was two meals for me. It has been YEARS since I have been to Thai House. I remember they serve delicious Thai food and came back to order some lunch combos to start the new year off with. I got the shrimp pad thai combo and my hubby got the chicken curry/rice combo. Both combo comes with chicken skewers, egg rolls or spring rolls, rice, and a small side salad. Plenty of food for a single person! Food was flavorful, fresh and very good. We also ordered a side of veggies and surprisingly was HUGE! I had the combo for lunch (with leftovers) and the veggie dish for dinner :D Great portions. The entrance is in the rear where the parking lot is.
