    Beef drunken noodles
    Amanda L.

This is the best Thai in the Santa Rosa area. Always delicious! Today i had the beef drunken noodles for lunch. I asked for spicy and they were! More importantly though the flavor was amazing. The noodles were firm. The veggies the perfect al dente . Best thing I've had to eat all week hands down.

Nice little neighborhood place -- not a destination restaurant but if you're in Santa Rosa, a nice stop for lunch. I've had a few lunches after antique shopping on that same block and enjoyed them. The place is clean and attractive and service is friendly and good. Food is tasty. Very fresh. I wouldn't say outstanding but definitely good for lunch on the fly. I had vegetarian stir fry noodles that were very tasty and my husband enjoyed the soup.

Both food and service were decent. I liked that this Thai place was downtown in a cute neighborhood versus a strip mall. Plus it's nicely decorated inside so the ambience is nice. We had Chicken Satay and Coconut Prawns as starters followed by Tom Kha with Chicken. I was very happy with the kitchen spacing the food out so we could thoroughly enjoy the dishes. The Chicken Satay was a bit dry. I did enjoy the Cucumber Salad it came with and ate that with the salad served under the Coconut Prawns. For entrees, we had the Jungle Curry with Chicken and Halibut with Fresh Pounded Herbs. The Halibut dish was delicious but I wish I had asked how the fish was prepared. It's slightly battered with wheat flour and fried so I just had a very small bite of it to try but the rest of the veggies were great. My husband really liked the dish. The Jungle Curry had good flavors from Southern Thai and no coconut milk. We wanted to try something different so we opted for this version of curry. I didn't like that the Jungle Curry was so watery. The Tom Kha had a unique flavor that was not like others we have had. The staff was very friendly and fairly attentive. After I inquired about the flour on the halibut, they said they could've prepared it differently if I had asked. That's good to know for next time.

I stopped by this place while looking for a dinner place close by my hotel. Most places in this square don't have good reviews so was looking to see what had the best reviews. Overall this is just an average edible place. I had the Tom kha soup and it was very milky and lacking flavor. Appears overly done with vegetables and not to my liking and not to what I'm used to eating in my favorite Thai places. The pad Thai was also just average and lacking seasoning or flavor and not a big hit with me. Maybe my standards are high from my favorite places, but if in the area, there's certainly other options. When in Santa Rosa, and looking for Thai, I would look elsewhere for better flavor and taste.

Had lunch here on a saturday afternoon and really lucked out because there were only a handful of people in the restaurant -this place is usually packed in the evenings so i was happy to see that we would be seated right away. The service was extreamly slow, but I was in no hurry and REALLY wanted to try this place. The waiter let us know that he was the only person handling the front & to go orders so we totally understood. The calamari rings were perfection, nice & crispy. The dipping sauce was nice & warm as well. The pad thai was good too, i ordered it with chicken but quickly realized that the chicken was very limited. Tip:order it with extra meat

Not that great. No vegetables in the curry. Just okay. Could be good, needs work. We were disappointed.

Food was very authentic, portions were large and the service was fantastic. Not a large place but a good menu of choices.

Above-average Thai restaurant. The food tastes a little more authentic than other SoCo Thais. Well worth a visit.

Do the have unethical "junk fees" on their bill?

Many reviews spoke of how easy it is for vegans & vegetarians to enjoy your restaurant. When we come to eat, do you have a separate vegan/vegetarian menu we should ask for? Or are menu items marked, or do we rely on waitstaff to assist in choices?

nothing is marked but uts easy to order food as vegan or veggie

Jyun Kang Vegetarian - A Meal That Quietly Resets You…read more Some meals speak in flavor. This one speaks in quiet. Jyun Kang is not modern plant-based cuisine. It isn't creative, trendy, or reinvented. This is the kind of vegetarian cooking that comes from older traditions - simple, steady, and designed to calm you more than impress you. And maybe that's why the dining room is always full. White, Black, Indian, Asian - everyone sits at the same wooden tables, eating the same humble dishes with an ease that feels rare these days. The Food: Old-School, Temple-Style, and Intentionally Quiet Nothing here tries to stand out. The dishes are: * lightly seasoned * clean and balanced * tofu, vegetables, and wheat gluten prepared the way temple kitchens have done for decades * no heavy oil, no aggressive spices, no sharp flavors It's not meant to overwhelm you. It's meant to lower the noise inside you. In a strange way, the quietness is the flavor. This is the type of meal where your nervous system shifts down a gear without you realizing it. The Atmosphere: A Dining Room Wrapped in Calm Steps away from the main courtyard of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the restaurant feels like an extension of the grounds themselves. Light streams in softly. People speak gently. Even the clinking of dishes feels slower, more deliberate. Eating here isn't just eating - it's entering a different pace of life. A White Peacock After Lunch After the meal, a white peacock walked across the courtyard - unhurried, soft-footed, almost unreal in how quietly it moved. White peacocks are often considered auspicious, but even without any symbolism, the moment felt grounding - a small, unexpected pause that matched the tone of the meal. Not many restaurants offer you that. The Walk Afterward Part of the experience is what happens once you step outside: * walking past tall trees * seeing peacocks on rooftops * watching families stroll through the open grounds * letting your mind cool in the same way your body just did This isn't a restaurant visit. It's a reset. Verdict: A Place That Nourishes More Than Hunger Jyun Kang serves exactly what it intends to serve: pure, old-style temple vegetarian food, quietly and consistently. It won't dazzle you, but it will steady you. And sometimes, that is worth more than flavor. If you want boldness, go elsewhere. If you want a meal that lowers the volume of your day - come here. They brought out separate peanut sauce for each of us to enjoy with the spring rolls, which was a nice touch. The Mango Salad was my favorite bite of the day. It was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The Pad Thai was good but I don't think I would order it again. The portions were huge, so we had plenty of leftovers. The chrysanthemum tea was very refreshing! Highly recommend trying it.

The space is super cute, the menu is seasonal, and the plating is creative. The food itself was flavorful, unique, and definitely not the kind of dishes you usually see at vegan restaurants--so big points for that. That said, the experience felt a little off. We were first seated inside but had to move outdoors because of the flies (there were still bugs outside, but it was manageable). Service was where things fell short: our server, who I later realized is also the owner, came across as very short with us. She'd list specials and walk away without checking if we had questions, didn't offer wine recommendations (despite having a wine shop next door), and overall wasn't very warm or welcoming. We noticed she was much friendlier with regulars, which made us feel a bit brushed off. Totally understand local pricing & mandatory 20% gratuity, I just expected a higher level of service. The ambiance also had some drawbacks--constant clanging of dishes in the small space made it feel tense rather than cozy. Between that and the flies, it was hard to fully relax and enjoy. Overall, the food was great, and I wish the service matched the quality of the kitchen. If the vibe had been more welcoming, this easily could have become a regular spot for us whenever we're in the area.
