Basa Plate

From the customer service to the food everything was beyond amazing! I can't wait to go back! I had the basa with rice and gravy and yams! I had a drink that was really good but I forgot the name!

I always wondered where Urban Fusions was. I had seen people talk about it but never got to go until Vallejo's Restaurant week. Wendy is so kind and so humble. She does it all really - she's in the front of the house, back of the house, she even has time to chat with her guests which is a luxury we as guests get to have. Now the flavors and the menu are rich. I am talking about a true fusion of not just what Wendy and her sister grew up with but what this community has been built on. It draws on flavors of the melting pot of Vallejo and pays homage to their roots. The curry is my favorite. The flavors are bold - and growing up in an Asian household, flavors and love make a dish great. Indoor seating or patio seating, this place also comes equipped with a mini bar for those looking to enhance their meal with a little beverage.

Basa, greens, fries, with a house special Margarita. Thanks Wendy!

My meal and service was amazing! Love coming here. Great vibe with friendly staff that never disappoint.

First time ever coming to this restaurant and I definitely want to come back to experience the ambiance. Coming in, it felt like it had an intimate atmosphere, but also a "homey" feel. I want to come back and experience it. I went to the front to order my food and the staff member, who seemed young, took my order, but not my payment (at the moment). I kind of stood there waiting to see if I had to pay or come back or what. I asked her should I come back, she said yes, then I asked how long-30 minutes? And she was like yeah, that works. I left and came back before the 30 minutes and asked if I could pay and just wait here, but by that time my food was done. That was the only negative experience I had, nonetheless, I enjoyed my food. I got the salmon garlic noodles! Sooo good! I love some good garlic noodles! I would just go back and order the garlic noodles. Also hot the chicken wings and fries and the pork belly bowl. I didn't try the chicken wings and fries, but the pork belly was seasoned and I enjoyed them as well. I would go back and try some other items and sit in the restaurant.

3 way combo: catfish, wings and prawns with a side of oxtail, gravy and rice and candy yams

Urban Fusions in Vallejo is a truly authentic Caribbean, Southern, and soul food experience! From the food to the atmosphere and service, everything exceeded my expectations. I ordered the gumbo, and it was delicious. It was well-seasoned, served piping hot, and had a great mix of small and jumbo shrimp--both without shells, which I appreciated. The crab meat was already picked out rather than being served in the shell, making it easy to enjoy without extra effort. The andouille sausage gave the gumbo a nice kick of flavor. No complaints at all! My lemon berry mango lemonade was sweet, just the way my son likes it, and it was served with fancy ball-shaped ice, which added a nice touch. However, I would have preferred less ice since my son finished it in two gulps! We had someone at our table with a shellfish allergy, and I want to give a big shoutout to the server, who was very accommodating. They made sure to bring out that person's food first to prevent any cross-contamination. My husband ordered the oxtails with sides of greens, rice, and cornbread. He enjoyed the meal and said the cornbread was moist and tasted like cake. The rice paired well with the oxtails, though he found the oxtails a bit salty. My son ordered the three-way combo with chicken, fish, and shrimp/prawns, along with a side of oxtail gravy and rice and candied yams. He had the catfish, and it was moist--not over-fried or hard. You can tell that Urban Fusion cooks with grace and takes their time to provide quality over quantity. The portions are fairly big, and everything is well-prepared. The candied yams were not overly sweet, tasted fresh--not canned--and were well-seasoned. The oxtail gravy and rice were also flavorful, though he mentioned he would have preferred a different side instead. Now, I have to highlight the mac & cheese--hands down, the best mac & cheese I've had in Vallejo! Many places serve mac & cheese, but this was homemade with no American cheese or processed flavors. You could taste the authenticity, and my kids even said a lot of the food reminded them of our holiday meals at home, which meant a lot to me. The restaurant itself is not very big. One side of the restaurant has high-top barstool seating, while the other side features booths, so I'm not sure how they would accommodate large parties. However, the space gives off a diner-like setting with a jazzy, date-night feel. The ambiance is enhanced by wholesome, soulful music, which adds to the charm. This place has a class! There is also a bar, which adds to the upscale but relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a great meal or a nice drink, this spot delivers. Beyond the food, the staff are friendly and hospitable, and make you feel like family. You can tell this is a community-loved spot, as customers treated the staff with respect and kindness. Urban Fusion is more than just a restaurant--it's an experience that brings authentic Caribbean, Southern, and soul food to Vallejo. I truly value this restaurant because they focus on delivering quality food, which is hard to find in Vallejo these days. You can taste the care and effort in every bite. I 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for real, quality soul food. I hope they stay in Vallejo for a long time because this is the kind of quality dining experience we need more of!

Excellent food and friendly people. They could do better at checking on drinks but we will be back. Very helpful and welcoming.

Pork chop - Mac & Cheese

What an amazing experience. I ordered the fried pork chops with Mac and cheese. Delicious. The portion was great, the flavor was on point. It felt like it was an undiscovered gem, but the places filled up quickly and everyone was raving about the food and dynamic owner. I'll be back, a lot.

Wingless, Mac n cheese, and collard greens.

I've been in buildings like this in Vallejo and none of them look as nice as this one. We enjoyed nice jazz music. I came just for the catfish and I was not disappointed. Keep in mind these prices come with very large portions. So, I find it fair. 1 entre and 2 apps were enough food to feed 3 people. My cocktail was fantastic and had tropical flavors. Next time we are going to try the gumbo and the ribs. Their barbecue sauce was on point. Sweet and spicy. Service was outstanding. It seems like these people really care about the work they are doing.

The owner, Wendy was extremely nice even though she didn't have to be because the food was so good

I love beef patties so I decided I'd give it a try! The special for Monday was goat (not my fav) and chicken...but I chose to just get patties.....until I got there. Upon arrival, the staff were very welcoming and greeted us with beautiful smiles. The music was playing gospel!!! My favorite!! Yay!! And I didn't even realize at first. Hehehe.. The establishment had snacks, drinks, clothes, fresh ginger, frozen fresh fish, oils, ice cream, soaps...you name it! They had it! When it was time to order, I told them I was skeptical of the goat and was thinking about passing on the chicken this time. BUT he insisted...and when he showed me the chicken, it looked and smelled amazing!!! So I said what the heck! I went from only getting 2 beef patties to buying 2 stewed chicken plates ($15), 4 patties ($3.75 each), 1 festival bread ($0.99) and 2 coco breads ($2.75 each) for a total of about ($60-$65). Everything was a 10/10!!!! No kidding!!!! We also got 2 mango drinks (less than $5 for both) and a pack of sherly cookies ($2.50). One of the drinks was 100% juice, and they had many other traditional Jamaican beverages as well as non-alcoholic drinks. I live in the Berkeley area but I will be making the drive again and again!! I'm hooked! :), "Every Little Thing Jamaican" is everything I've been looking for I Jamaican food!!! May God continue to bless you family, and I thank you for allowing me to experience a little piece of Jamaica....in Cali! See you soon!! WWJD.. :) BTW: The pictures don't do enough justice! Oxtail plate - really tasty, heavy on the sides but a little light on the meat. Another piece would've done it for me. I got extra oxtail gravy which was really good to add on to the rice and peas. Jerk ribs - SO DAMN GOOD!!! Great flavor, fall off the bone, I could easily eat more of that. Don't skip it! Pepper shrimp - eh, it was ok I think. My daughter wanted that so I only had one piece of shrimp mixed with some other things on my own plate. I do think there was only maybe 5-6 shrimps. They were a good size, but again, a 2-3 more pieces would've made it perfect. Curry shrimp - I really enjoyed the curry shrimp and I appreciate that they package the curry shrimp separate from the sides that come with the meal. Definitely going to get those again when I return. Escovitch fish - I had never ordered a whole fried fish before so I was excited. I had escovitch fish when I was in Jamaica but it was served not as a whole fish. I thought it was fried well and had good seasoning. I like the pickling too, I ordered extra. I also ordered a beef patty and an oxtail patty but I haven't eaten them yet. Looking forward to it though. Also, the plates came with cabbage. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be cooked, I've seen that and that's what I expected. But what was on the plate was dry bagged salad like you get from the produce section to make Cole slaw. There was no sauce and it was uncooked. Not sure about that. I ordered online so I didn't really get "service" but the woman at the register was kind and had a warm smile. Overall, I can't wait to return. And now that I know what I like, maybe I won't spend quite so much to try everything lol.
