Portions are great. Some reviewers mentioned stingy hands but this plate is a lot. Chow mein is good, rice is good. Tried the house pepper chicken and that is full of flavor. Spicy orange chicken was good, a bit sweet but still good. Price was fair, the plate was slightly under 15. Interior is very clean. Most people come in for takeout. I appreciate the bottled sauces at the tables, a lot of places don't do that anymore. Will be returning and I recommend. They also have smoothies.

Vending machine

Visited on a weekday evening. Place was empty so service was quick! The interior definitely needs a bit of a touch-up, but it was cool seeing the vending machines that you typically only see in old-school spots like these. We ordered: - Combo 1: Fried Rice with Kung Pao Chicken. I didn't try this, but I was told that the fried rice was well-seasoned. - Combo 2: Chow Mein with Spicy Orange Chicken and BBQ Pork. Though the breading of the orange chicken was a bit soggy and with just a hint of spice, it hit the spot! The BBQ pork was actually the highlight of the two proteins - it was tender and flavorful! - Taro Milk Tea with Boba: The drink was quite icy, and I was told that some of the boba pearls were hard to chew. There is a surcharge if you use a credit/debit card. In total, including tip, the cost nearly reached $40 for all 3 items.

First time visitor Located in smaller area next to del taco with open parking Different combo plates, Thai food, pho, and small bites Spacious main dining, clean, and open Very friendly service and it appeared family own and a local spot Had the mushroom chicken, house pepper chicken (signature item) half rice and half noodles For a cold rainy night, the food hit the spot. Meaty chicken plump mushroom peppery chicken with spice to warm you up. Rice was fresh and fluffy and noodles were hearty. Definitely 2 item portion can be shared or be like me and eat all of it disregarding leftovers :) Good value for $13 It appears all form of payment is accepted but note .70 fee for using card or debit card Glad to have tried it out and will return

$20.00 for all this, a Diet Coke, and 2 egg rolls.

Food was an incredible surprise to the taste buds. Really loved the food. To make it even more tasteful it was priced really well for the amount of food. The service was amazing. The staff is very welcoming and happy. Clean and quiet atmosphere.

Chow Mein + Spicy Orange Chicken + BBQ Pork
Nick P.

SO GOOD. Great value for so MUCH food. Hubby recently picked up a 3 item plate for us to enjoy. We got the chow mein, BBQ pork, and spicy orange chicken. The spicy orange chicken had the perfect kick to it. It pairs very well with the chow mein. The BBQ pork was very savory and meaty. I was very impressed with Lucky Chinese Food. I can't wait to come back here again.

Combo 2. I chose spicy wings, orange chicken, white rice, and chow mein

I ordered on DoorDash and got the 2 item combo. I chose chow mein, white rice, orange chicken, and spicy wings. I also got 2 orders of cream cheese wontons (4 total). Everything was just ok. The chow mein had a weird taste to it and wasn't very appetizing. The breading on the spicy wings wasn't crunchy anymore, and I didn't care for the flavor of the sauce it was coated in. The orange chicken and white rice were good, but those are pretty basic items. I didn't care for the green onions in the cream cheese wontons. Overall, I've had better Chinese takeout and will likely go elsewhere.

I don't come here often but it's a Korean Chinese classic institution in Garden Grove. We got the…read moreusual of black bean noodles, sweet and sour pork, and seafood noodle soup...aka jajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and jjamppong. The food did not disappoint and came out instantly, although it was a Friday at noon. It was piping hot and fresh, and definitely too much for just two people so we took some home for leftovers. It was not too busy but the people that were here were all Korean, so that's how you know it's a good place.

The food comes out quick and it may not be a Michelin star worthy food but it's definitely a comfort food for a lot of people. Their black bean noodles are a staple but I also recommend the spicy shrimp, sweet n sour pork, and sizzling rice soup. Their jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) is just ok.. Service is great because I think the servers recognize my family but speaking Korean also helps. Unfortunately, I have witnessed some of the servers being kind of rude to other patrons. The servers are just always in a rush. But I always find myself going back whenever we have a big group. Don't expect a nice, clean, modern ambiance. The carpets old, decor is questionable, and sometimes there's a weird smell. But I will continue to go here.

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing. (#2) At $15-19 for most dishes. (#3) Did we get lucky?

The green beans were also aâmzing, fresh, bright green, and not oily at all. Simple but cooked perfectly. My favorite surprise was the potato salad. It was so special and actually my first time trying this style. The crispy shredded potatoes were crunchy and flavorful, really unique and tasty! Overall: good food, fresh ingredients, and great flavors. Definitely coming back to try more dishes!
