From time to time while my kids and I are in the Orange County area, they want me to bring them to Lucky Chinese Food. As you enter the restaurant, to the right is the ordering area ready to go. You can choose different combos or even just individual entrees, appetizers, smoothies or a fountain drink. Food is always fresh and very flavorful! I ordered the two item combo plate with bbq pork, orange chicken, chowmein, and steamed rice. BBQ pork was tender, orange chicken was crispy and covered in the orange sauce of goodness and the chowmein noodles had the perfect chew. Food was plentiful that my teenaged daughter and I were able to share, We left completely full with satisfied tummies. Prices are reasonable and as you check out, to the left cashier side is for cash and on the right hand side is for credit cards, which there is a fee if used. To the left of the restaurant is plenty of seating and its usually well taken care of as they wipe down the tables once customers have finished. This mom and pop type of spot favored by my family. On the outside of the strip mall that this restaurant is located, there is plenty of parking. Its located right across the Del Taco in that shopping center. Good amount of choices but wax expected much more since the food counter is quite long. They alway have noodle soups and other fried dishes that is/are make for order. Staff are lovely and nice. Easy and fast service. Got 3 items combo: salt/pepper fried chicken, spicy orange chicken, and beef & broccoli w/ 1/2 fried rice & 1/2 fried noodle and a large fountain drink (self serve). Generous amount of items w/ drink for $25 (included tip). Not bad at all for the price and the amount of portion. The seasoning here are good and tasty, better than other places and excessed my expectations. For the spicy orange chicken, I acutely felt the tingling of heat (I love spicy) so impressed with it. Portions are great. Some reviewers mentioned stingy hands but this plate is a lot. Chow mein is good, rice is good. Tried the house pepper chicken and that is full of flavor. Spicy orange chicken was good, a bit sweet but still good. Price was fair, the plate was slightly under 15. Interior is very clean. Most people come in for takeout. Solid fast food Chinese place. Fried rice has that delicious fish sauce/msg savoriness and the beef brocolli gravy is nice and veggies are cooked well, soft but crisp. The char siu (bbq pork) is delicious. Slightly sweet, not too fatty, nice crust. Spicy orange chicken was great too. Much subtler and less aggressively sugary compared to something like Panda Express. This is fast Chinese food. It's cheap, the portions are huge and this place has pretty excellent food. It's not some Michelin star fancy fusion cuisine, it's good quality chinese fast food. My only complaint is that the chow mein looks like they use spaghetti noodles rather than real Chinese style noodles. Most places here do that but I'm not a fan. What happened here. The food was terrible. We had a family meal for $60 and thew 90% out. Soup tasted like it was from a mix the peas were hard.
