Pretty good casual dumpling place in Cypress! If you like Din Tai Fung but want to avoid a crazy drive or line, this is a good option. I like xiao long bao in general, so it was a surprise to see a restaurant so close to where I live that had a very well-made one. In addition I also tried out their Dan Dan Noodles which is spicy with sichuan peppers, but they make everything mild enough that the sichuan is more like "a hint of" than actually strong, in your face sichuan. Appreciated that level of mildness without sacrificing taste. It was also convenient they have a milk tea menu so we didn't have to go somewhere else afterwards for milk tea. The venue itself is pretty large but the seating is a little cramped, but nothing super uncomfortable or anything. I wend on a Sunday evening and our wait time was only 5 minutes, but most other times it's empty unless it's a Saturday. I would come back here for a weekday one-off meal for sure if I'm nearby and craving for xiao long bao again! read more

My family and I randomly stopped in on a Monday night during dinner time and lucky us, no wait! We ordered the chicken pan fried dumplings, cucumber salad, pork ribs with smashed garlic, braised noodle soup, juicy pork dumplings, and kungpao chicken. WOW! They were all so good! If I had to pick some favorites I would say I enjoyed the braised noodle soup for the bold flavors and tender meat and the cucumber salad for its crunch and how light/refreshing it was. Some of the dishes could be oily so having the cucumber salad or some greens helped with the balance. A close second is the short ribs with mashed garlic bits. My least favorite would be the juicy pork dumplings. It wasn't really juicy and lacked a bit of flavor. People tend to say this is a DTF dupe. It's not, but it is still very good. Went here after church. It was a full house. Ordered all the food shown. Taste is always consistent. I have a problem with restaurants to have recommendations of what percentages to tip. I have no problem giving 20% tip for great service. This place doesn't really do much other than bring out the food. They leave the water so that we can fill up our own and never really check in on us otherwise. The reason for the three star is a shady Business practices. Look at my receipt and those amounts are based on the total including tip. We all know that tipping should be based on the food and beverage and not including tax cause that just insulates the bill. Though the food isn't as excellent as DTF, the prices are definitely on the more reasonable side. The service is also very efficient. The workers are not the most friendly or extroverted--but they do get the job done quick and easy. After we were seated our orders were taken without much wait and we were served all of our dishes in less than 10 minutes! The general plaza this restaurant is located in is nice--next to many other reputable, casual dining places. They have a good variety of dishes, including stir-fried items, dumplings, rice, and noodles. Their juicy pork dumplings are frequently ordered, so I had to try these! They were good and had a decent amount of soup inside! We also got the Pork and Corn Pan-Fried Dumplings which has a really nice crispy skirt attached to it. This one of fun to eat and comes with a sauce for dipping. The Dan Dan Noodles were flavorful and not overly spicy but does have a little kick. A newer item on the menu is their Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs. The sauce was yummy! These come with the bone in, so be careful when eating them. I almost always order a String Bean dish whenever I get Chinese food, and these had a little crunch without being too soggy. For appetizers, the spring rolls were good, and the Potato String Shrimp were unique! I haven't had shrimp presented like this before!
