Certainly there's lots of history at this bar in downtown Eugene. In fact it's one of the oldest retail business in town. Luckey's Club has seen a lot of craziness through the years. Good place to hang out to play pool and other games. They're known for having many kinds of whiskey and liquor. Amazingly this used to be a cigar bar. It's so crazy because there's now no smoking allowed inside. This happens to be one of the oldest bars in Oregon. For sure this goes way back. In the 1800s it was a place for men to come smoke. Also they played lots of pool. They even were able to get shaves. In 1933 it became the first bar in Lane County after prohibition to get a liquor license. They also survived the smoking ban by becoming a music venue. Of course the drinks are the best thing about it. They're known for the whiskeys. It's about $9 for Pendleton. That's one of the many to choose from, some good stuff. Cool interior with lots of antiques. There's the bar, and the area's oldest neon sign among other stuff. Good place to check out history. It's one of the oldest places in the city, and state. There's no food, but you can go to a few restaurants around here though. read more

It bums me out when I get to have this experience as a bartender. I care about our trade. Nothing about my less than 12 minutes encounter was gas in the tank. I got what I asked for, no hassle. Incredibly awful service! incredibly awful staff! Horribly trained and some of the worst attitudes ever encountered. Three of their supposedly competent staff could not verify a valid and legal California ID. This is a consistent complaint, amongst reviewers. In my opinion, they all need to be fired or retrained. Not only are there skills as bartenders incredibly subpar, their customer service skills are shockingly not there. For being that old and in the industry I would have expected them to have developed people person skills. This is not the case at all, as the employees at the establishment are some of the worst people you will ever encounter in your life and I say that with my full chest!!! do not give your money to this place!!Edit: my favorite part was standing there and having them condescendingly explain to me what was so obviously fake about my legitimate ID. read more

Absolutely pathetic establishment with incompetent door staff who wouldn't recognize a legitimate ID if it smacked them in the face. My entire group was wrongly denied entry simply because these clueless employees couldn't recognize valid IDs and, instead of owning their mistake, threw tantrums and threatened to call the cops. Completely unprofessional, rude, and embarrassing behavior from staff who clearly lack basic customer service skills. Save yourself the hassle and go literally anywhere else. Worst experience ever! Every single time I go in there, the bartenders are extremely rude and the first time I went to Luckey's was in 2016... I try to give it another chance about once a year to no avail. A bunch of law students came to hang out there last night and at LEAST 12 of them were denied because they had "fake" IDs. They need to be trained better because every single person in the law school is 22 or older. The average age is actually closer to 26. Mind you, 90% of the law students are from out of state. Don't be cheap, and buy a scanner instead of putting off customers for life. That is no way to run a business. It was absolutely ridiculous. I will not be returning. I honestly feel like they were turning away customers that didn't meet their grunge aesthetic. The place is just garbage, and as a frequent Yelper, I've honestly never said that about a business before. Yikes. Also, the food they are supposed to have, as required in Oregon bars are little bags of chips unless the food cart is open outside, which was not open last night or any other night I've been there. read more

if i could give this place no stars i would. They absolutely need to switch to a friendlier staff. And if you're trying to bring friends/family for a night out that might be vacationing here: DONT. I brought some of my friends who were visiting from florida & they wanted to see the night life. no where else turned us away & if they were sus they scanned it. All 3 of their ID's almost gotten taken & we fought for them back since they had a flight the next day. If you are going to turn people away because of "fakes" you need to get a scanner so you don't take away real IDs. common sense, they were about to have some cops pulled up on them. Whoever hired the bartender with the glasses & wears a beanie needs to recheck their hiring standards or at least don't be cheap and buy a scanner! never ever bringing anyone here again. A group of us stopped by Luckey's to see a friend perform. This was my first time here and I really enjoyed the laid back vibe! The live music was amazing and everyone on stage was super talented! There was a ton of open seating which is hard to find in some of the other more mainstream bars around town which made it the perfect spot to be able to catch up with friends while still enjoying the aspect of being downtown. They had pool tables as well in addition to a great liquor selection. The best part about Luckey's though was by far the exceptional service from the staff. The bartenders were all very attentive, super friendly and very patient. Definitely the best service I've experienced while being downtown on a busy night. I highly recommend for a more chill downtown Eugene experience and will definitely be back! I should also mention that their drinks were all super reasonably priced too which makes it even better! read more

I came here with a friend tonight. My friend is a self-described 'awkward person.' We wanted to come grab a bite to eat and a drink and we were excited to try a new spot. The bartender was super rude. The bartender first viewed our IDs super suspiciously. I do have an out of state ID, but I'm 30+ and look it. My friend had a hard time trying to decide what to drink and he asked to see a menu to help him decide. The bartender snapped back, "we don't have a menu!" My friend said he wanted a lager and then the bartender flat out refused to serve him! I couldn't believe it! My friend tried to salvage our good time and said "ok, I guess I'll just get some food." To which the bartender said, "We don't really have a lot of food in here." Ridiculousness. Now that I've gotten around to reading some reviews it seems we're not the only folks that have had such a terrible experience, likely with the same guy. Unfortunately if I could leave 0 stars I would. I arrived on a Tuesday night to be rudely greatest by a tired grumpy bartender named Nate. I paid a cover for me and my girlfriend while he begrudgingly got our drinks. Upon entering into such an unfriendly environment me and my date wanted to leave immediately. If it wasn't for the expensive drinks and actually good comedy, we would have left without drinks or staying another second. I hope you reconsider your staff. Had a totally different experience here than the last few reviews. Bartenders were incredibly friendly and we had a great time playing darts. Enjoyed the crowd in there was well - and the music was awesome. I love that they appreciate their history as one of the oldest bars in Oregon. Bartender rejected my ID despite the fact that I'm 21, said that I'm lucky they're giving it back. I said I can get the cops outside to verify it and she said "I don't care what the cops say, I don't feel comfortable serving you knowing it's fake." Nice job losing business. read more

We decided to change up our normal routine for going out and decided to give Luckey's Club a try. In our early 20's Good times and The Cooler were really fun places to hang out. Now that we're in our early 30's we want more of an adult night, and less of a crazy college kids night. We got to Luckeys around 9:45pm on Friday night. I liked the feel of Luckey's, it had the laid back Eugene vibe to it. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to take care of the customers. There was a guy here who was on his way to a rough morning when we arrived. Poor guy back handed his Corona right off the bar and make a huge mess on the floor. He apologized and the bartender as well as the bouncer assured him it was no big deal and helped him clean up the mess. I've seen those type of scenarios result in being kicked out, but not at Luckeys. They had 3 pool tables that were in great condition. Instead of feeding quarters, you pay by the hour and give your ID to the bartender who then hands you the billiards. I would much rather pay by the hour instead of paying per game. They had live music while we were here and it was pretty decent. I would be open to coming back and checking out who else comes through this place. It had plenty of seating, whether you're there just to hang out, play pool, or just listen to the live music. I thought that the $3.50 Jameson and Crater Lake Vodka/Gin was pretty awesome. That's a special you don't really come across, so we jumped all over it. This was our first visit, but I would be willing to check it out again. read more

Billed as the oldest bar in Eugene, this is one of my top 3 bars to hit when I visit that wondrous town. The music has been excellent, the bartenders friendly (I used a snuff box keychain with a friends house key as collateral for a pool table...) and the beer is good. They have a huge room full of pool tables and couches to amuse you as you enjoy your excellent beer. This place can become quite packed, and attracts a large number of divergent people, including the hippies who sit at the bar, the drug dealers outside, and the random assortment of weirdos that eugene seems to endlessly provide. The service is nice, I never had to wait for a beer or for a pool table. The bouncer (a very nice young woman) remembered me from the night before and stamped my wrist without question. This place isn't fancy, but if you want a good beer, some pool and good music or conversation, this is definitely it. read more

You'd think that in these radical days of the public smoking ban and allowing women to go out in public, such a concept would be outdated. And you'd be right. But Luckey's is all the better for weathering the changes. A live music venue in addition to a bar, Luckey's features acts both local and national. The front part of the bar (where the bar is) is very long and skinny. The bartenders often seem to be 12 years old, but I've been assured they are of age. They make strong drinks and pour good beer. If you're a lady, you can get Pabst for two bits on Tuesday. (This seems like a recipe for disaster to me, but oh well...) This is a good stop off point between Horsehead and Indigo District. read more

My wife and I play league pool and while scouting for new stomping grounds we stepped into this bar, 15 minutes later will never go back. The bartender was immediately rude to my wife and barley slipped by wrath long enough to get a table. My first attempt to get us a round, bartender did not ask my order but freaked out over me moving my bar stool 3 ft to the left. The guy is a hot head without any business senses. He caused a scene when I shredded him for driving business away. He will do this again. Stay away. There are many other great options for what this place attempts to be. Good riddance. read more

My absolute favorite bar in Eugene. It's such a comfortable place to hangout, the bartenders are great in every way. I've never felt unwelcome or out of place. Lots of live music acts blow through but if you're not into it, it's easy to sit at the bar with friends totally ignoring the stage. This place is pretty cool. Some decent live music, and it's chock-full of pool tables. Definitely a sweet spot for playing pool. Good drinks, OK prices. Never really been a huge fan of the staff, but they're not assholes, either. It can be practically impossible to get around on the weekends, though. When it's packed, the long, thin bar area becomes congested immediately, which REALLY sucks when it's ultra-packed. You may get stuck and be unable to move at all. But hey, if I remember correctly you and multiple friends can get pretty drunk on a Tuesday for around $20, provided there are ladies present and you don't mind PBR. Also, if you want to run into anyone on a weekend, check John Henry's, the Horsehead and Luckey's, and you're bound to find them before the night's over. read more

I've been to Luckey's a dozen or so times. Never been completely blown away by the venue and never been one to complain about it either. There's almost always a cover because they almost always have live music and almost every time I went I was on the guest list because almost every time my buddy was in the band performing that I was going to watch. Blah, blah, blah. Luckey's threw an all-out Irish celebration last night and I had a rocking good time. $10 cover was well worth it and it will surely be a St. Patrick's day I don't forget anytime soon. The place was packed with Eugenites of all castes and creeds looking to drink, sing, dance, and be the most merry. Sid and Fancy and Toad in the Hole killed it. Those bands. That bar. That fourth Jameson and Coke. That last Irish Car Bomb.... Luckey's did a damn fine job of raising glasses to the freckle faced hellions. I'm proud to say I participated. read more

This is a total gem of a dive bar in downtown Eugene. Surrounded by the fanciness of Davis' and Jamesons, Luckey's is a great change of pace. We go here every year on Christmas Eve for a drink before last minute shopping, and it's always fun. The bar itself is great, there's a good selection of booze to choose from, and the atmosphere is very laid back. They have pool tables, they show random movies in the background, and they even had a card table the last time I was in there (it looked like they found it on the street, but hey, it works!). We went to Luckey's 10/3, around midnight. Waited 20 minutes at the bar to order a drink, then gave up and left.

Inappropriate and combative bartender. (JOEL) Was there Sunday night with a group of friends. It was almost closing time. I went to pee. And forgot to lock the door some guy came in I said "in here" he was really rude told me there was a lock in the door for a reason I was like excuse me drop the attitude and he flew back into the bathroom with his eyes wide telling me that he worked there and that I should have locked it I asked him what are you doing like I'm sitting on the toilet just say my bad and walk away he was very aggressive then calmed down and insisted on tapping elbows with me and said sorry all this while my pants are down. In my opinion it looked like he was high on some sort of uppers which would also explain his outburst on someone with there pants down a female none the least and then insisting we touch elbows to clear the air. THEN I went back to my friends table where I told them what happened. Within two minutes he was in a physical altercation across the room with another woman. She said he threw water on her I don't know exactly what happened but he had been enough of a jerk to have all of her friends yelling at said bartender along with my friends. His eyes were bulging out of his face. I told him that he looked like he was on drugs and what his deal was and he had a look on his face like he knew he was caught. My friend told him he probably shouldn't be behind the bar and he got very quiet. . The woman he threw water on was trying to fight this guy so I had to carry her out. I called luckies management and when he got back to me he told me he was sorry and it was out of character for "Joel" to act like that. He made excuses saying he felt really bad and I told him there's no excuse for a middle aged man to be hovering over and aggressively talking to a women patron while their pants are down. And told him that the whole bar wasn't upset with this guy for no reason. He told me unfortunately that this man will still be working at luckies regardless. I think it's highly unacceptable to have an employee anywhere act like that and get away with it. I'm not even upset he walked in on me and gave me an attitude I would be upset if it was anyone else I knew. I can handle myself. However if that had been a friend or my partner the night might have gone differently. The manager said the bartender was grateful to have me remove that woman because he was in danger. When he was the one causing all the problems. this place obviously has low standards for who they hire and how they conduct their business. They do not care about the general safety or atleast the illusion of safety for women I told the manager something needed to be done he did not say he was going to place him on leave, reduce his hours, or any punishment. Bar employees are there to deescalate situations not cause them. read more

Honestly this is the worst bar I've been too. I've been a few times only to hear good music but would have to endure horrible customer service and a disgusting atmosphere and the inability to use a clean restroom.
