I could go on and on about how much I LOVE Loulette Bride. But to try and keep this from becoming a novel, here's my top 5 list: 1.) I researched a lot of bridal boutiques and designers because I didn't just want a great dress, I wanted to buy a dress from a great place and/or great designer. Loulette Bride met my needs ten fold. First, it's run by two kickass women entrepreneurs (who are also BFF). And second, they make everything responsibly and locally (which is really important to me)! 2.) The designer, Marteal, is fabulous! I don't live in the NYC-area, but after discovering Loulette Bride, she was willing to chat with me over the phone, exchange +20 emails answering all my questions about every dress and truly she went above and beyond anything I would have even expected out of a wedding dress shopping experience. 3.) Loulette dresses are gorgeous! I tried on over 40 dresses from lots of designers at many boutiques. But one day, I had the opportunity at a small boutique in San Francisco to try on two Loulette dresses and hands down both became my most favorite dresses out of all the others. I had a fun phone call with my mom and sister debating which out of the two dresses we liked more because both were so beautiful. Also, and probably most importantly, when I tried on these dresses it was the first time I felt beautiful in a wedding dress and like I could be myself. 4.) Sometimes, at some bridal boutiques, I felt a lot of pressure to purchase dresses out of my price range, but working with Loulette, there was absolutely no pushiness or pressure. When the initial dress I fell in love with didn't fall into my budget, Marteal didn't once encourage me to spend more than what I planned. Instead, she offered other options and discussed sample sale items with me until we found another dress that was also perfect. After deciding on THE dress, it had a train and Marteal offered to take it off for me (for free!) when I expressed reservations* about it. This kind of service is just unprecedented. *the train was gorgeous, but I'm a little clumsy and just wasn't sure I could make it down the aisle with it. 5.) When I tell you I was dev-a-stated when I found 'the one' at another bridal instead of Loulette - I'm not exaggerating. And that just goes to show how wonderful not only their dresses are but the entire bridal experience is at Loulette. They are unique, they're modern yet timeless, they make you feel like a goddess. There are enough to feel like you really get to try a lot without being overwhelmed by options. But above all - a Loulette dress means something. Which is why I was so sad that I ended up choosing a dress from another shop. Because Loulette is woman-owned, the dress is treated not as a SKU number but an individual work of art, they support equal rights for all, they are open to all kinds of love and lives, and they stand up for what they believe in with their whole hearts. Wearing a dress from Loulette means you're wearing a dress that stands for the greatest kind of love. Oh, and there's that fixed price 'all in alterations' offer of theirs ... it's unparalleled anywhere else in the city! So, to the brides wondering if you should book an appointment with Loulette, book it!!! But book it toward the end of your appointment line up because it's going to blow all of the others out of the water. And for those reading this who found a dress elsewhere - don't forget that you can get your rehearsal outfit, your reception dress or jumpsuit, even your accessories and CAPES!! and SLEEVES!! and of course their famous 'I FUCKING DO' veil from them and still get the warm fuzzies for supporting such a wonderful business on your big day!! When I first started looking for my bridal "dress" I knew early on that I wanted something non-traditional. I knew I wanted a jumpsuit or flowy pant look, so I started scraping the Internet looking for one. I must have scrolled through thousands of images of bridal looks across Pinterest, various designers, and vintage shops with little interest in anything I found. It wasn't until I finally found a pair of off-white wide leg pants online, that I thought I could explore custom bridal wear. I searched online for custom bridal designers in the NYC/Brooklyn area, and came across Loulette Bride and was immediately drawn to the "vibe" of the website, images of the warm and cozy salon, and the variety of the looks and fabrics from the selection of pre-designed dresses. A friend and I went to Greenpoint to meet Marteal. The salon is as beautiful and inviting in person as it looks online. All I needed to do was share a few thoughts of the look I was going for and some pictures from Pinterest for her to totally get the vision. She immediately got to sketching right away and within 20 minutes we had the look. From there, we went over to the dresses she had already made to get of sense of the different fabrics that would work for the custom bodysuit. I was in awe of her creativity and ability to take an idea I had in my mind and bring it to life. We created this look together that I absolutely love and could have never found online, ever after spending what felt like hundreds of hours looking for. To top it off, the pants I bought online had pockets (yay) but the fabric was a bit see through for a wedding. We thought we would have to remove the pockets but Marteal came up with a solution to add a thin liner to the pants which allowed me to keep the pockets! When you're working with (M) it feels like you're hanging with a friend, who is genuinely as excited for your special day as you are. She sent me home with a colored sketch of me in my full look which I've since framed. I love my custom bridal bodysuit - it's a timeless piece that I'll get to wear again. Marteal is absolutely AMAZING - I could write a book about how incredible she is but I'll try to limit it to a few sentences :) Loulette was my very first wedding dress appointment and I'm so grateful that was the case because Marteal made everything so relaxing, calm, and easy. My friend stumbled upon one of her unfinished designs in the corner and Marteal let me try it on. I fell in love with her vision and she ended up naming the dress after me! She ensured the dress had everything I wanted and made the process so simple. Our original wedding was postponed due to COVID, which of course caused a lot of stress and anxiety. Marteal was so calm, professional, and flexible - she was the one vendor I didn't have to be worried about. Although we postponed the reception, my husband and I decided to still get married in an intimate celebration. Even during a pandemic, Marteal made sure everything was ready and in order and that I had my perfect dress on our wedding day. Although postponing sucked, I am so freaking happy that I get to wear my Loulette dress TWICE! You will not go wrong with Loulette/Marteal. I am a mother of two beautiful, smart, independent and successful daughters. My oldest is in the process of having her wedding gown designed and created by Marteal and her professional team. From the moment we were welcomed into the studio, the nervousness and insecurities surrounding my daughter's search for her perfect gown was dissipated. Jillian was warm and genuine and most importantly helped my daughter feel beautiful in her body and who she is as a person. There is too much emphasis on " perfect bodies", "perfect people" when after all we are simply humans wanting happiness and love in our lives. Love is love and quite frankly, this world is needing more of it and true kindness always wins! I had the best experience working with Loulette for my wedding dress. The designer, Marteal, was an absolute pleasure to work with. Her studio space is enchanting and her dresses are whimsical dreams. You will not find anything else like it. They are effortless, impeccably made and actually comfortable all while you looking amazing! I am so happy I went to Loulette. The quality is outstanding, everything is sourced in the US and Marteal makes everything herself. I felt like Marteal truly listened to what I wanted and made it happen. She is so knowledgeable about the craft, she is a true professional. I loved trying on all the different styles, and ultimately, I chose a dress that was one of a kind! It was my dream. I started following Loulette years before I was even engaged! I couldn't wait to visit Loulette's studio and play dress up once I was engaged. The studio is adorable and Marteal is amazing to work with, she makes you feel so comfortable while trying everything on. I already had a dress style in mind but didn't love it on me 100%. Marteal showed me how she could customize it by taking pieces of other dresses and using different fabrics, and that made it perfect! I can't wait to see my finished dress later this summer (my wedding is January 2022). I love everything Loulette stands for: sustainability (using ethically sourced and recycled fabrics, scrap recycling, making dresses to order to reduce overstock, the list goes on!), donating to charities, and educating people about the garment industry. I had an amazing time at Loulette! It was the first place I looked. Being plus sized/LBGT/not all that girly I was super nervous, but Sophia made me feel so comfortable. I ended up trying a few other places and not only was the experience much better at Loulette, but the quality was far superior to anything else I tried on. They encourage you to touch the fabrics when you're there and you can really feel the quality. I kept comparing everywhere else to the Loulette and ended up coming back to purchase the very first gown I had tried on. Could not recommend this enough for plus size, LGBT, and those with sensory issues like myself. I can't wait to wear my gown knowing how confident and comfortable I'm going to be on my big day! Marteal and the whole Loulette team are awesome. I struggled to find a dress in NYC back in 2019 and my sister found The Loulette Bride website. I decided to give their shop in Greenpoint a visit. What a great experience from beginning to end. And I'm still not done. I had just had my final fitting in my beautiful one- of-a-kind gown with about a month to go to the wedding in Ireland and then COVID struck.
