First of all, I'll say up front that I'm biased. I've done a photo shoot, performance art (casting) at Shag and also taught 4 erotica classes. But I think I can safely say that I'm also a big fan and frequent customer. I love that they combine art, jewelry, lingerie, greeting cards and high-quality sex toys, along with workshops. I hope this review can serve as a warning for others. Shag is not worth the money and takes advantage of their customers. I have never been so angry at an establishment for blatantly ripping off customers. Save yourselves the disappointment and do not book an event at Shag. I recently attended a bachelorette event at Shag - "Sex Trivia." The back room where the event was held was not air conditioned. The "host" simply read questions off of her phone (not joking) and tallied up team point on a dry erase board. that's it. We wrote our responses on a blank piece of paper. It seemed like this event was thrown together in 10 minutes and is definitely not worth paying for. Even though we were told by Shag that "sex trivia" would last 2 hours, we were rushed through the questions despite asking the host to slow down. We were in and out in less than an hour. Horrible place. Tried to exchange or return a gift that was bought for me the day before on VDAY. It was still in her wrapping paper and bow, and she claimed that was one of the only items that was not available for any sorts of exchange or return. I took a couples massage class here the day after valentine's day. It was an amazing experience that I highly recommend. The class was very informative and relaxing. We recently planned our friend's bachelorette party in Shag's private room in the back of their store. This was a first time experience for us with Shag though friends who live in Brooklyn visit the store and class offerings often, and have nothing but rave reviews. In regards to the Bachelorette Party they helped us coordinate, it was magnificent. We were in contact with Shag prior to the event to begin planning and discussing what we wanted to do during our time in the room. They were incredibly accommodating, flexible, responsive, helpful, I could go on forever. On the day of the event Shag allowed us to come early to decorate and put food out. Our instructor, CJ, gave us a class offering based on the crowd's interest and she was remarkable. CJ had to put up with a lot of wine induced ladies, which she handled perfectly. We learned a ton, received lovely gift bags, were able to bring in our own food and drinks, decorate the room, and enjoy the festivities at our own pace. At the end of the night we went over on time and Shag could not have been more accommodating; they went above and beyond for our group. I have planned quite a few bachelorette parties before and this is literally the best way to celebrate and the best venue/store to do so with!
