The place was clean and lovely. Everyone was really nice And even thought it was empty, the food was good and again the service was cleverly welcoming The prices are very affordable for groceries and it always feels good to support local Marquetas

Market with many vendors selling products from Puerto Rico

The place to be for everything Puerto Rico without leaving New York. If you are curious or are familiar with Puerto Rican Products, culture and cuisine, this is the place for you. Located in Brooklyn, who knew that a shortcut to Puerto Rico existed right in our backyard. Hot Food is also served here, you are able to sit down and enjoy some typical Puerto Rican dishes such as: Alcapurrias, Pasteles, Sancocho, Rice and Beans etc. Pasteles and desserts are made fresh on the premises. I recommend this place if you ever curious to try or are in the mood for some good Puerto Rican EVERYTHING.

I love this place, enjoy going with my mom to buy all the fresh island products and then stop by to eat at Ramonita's spot! The food is delicious.

You can easily buy some supplies at the market and have a snack or picnic steps away. This place is around all year I believe but we really enjoy coming in the Fall, as there's great options here for hot cider and donuts, fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious cheese and milk (some of the best Eggnog I've had is sold each year at this market), and lots of other stuff to peruse from while on a leisurely weekend stroll. We live over in Queens, and there's some half-decent similar markets around in that part of town, but it's just nicer to bike or commute over to Greenpoint and enjoy this Farmers Market on a Saturday. Exactly the type of location you'd picture it at - a perfect fit. There are upwards of 30 vendors in the space with everything from pottery, clothing, jewelry, coasters, plants, and general household knick-knacks that you're SURE to find something for yourself or something for a friend's birthday or for a "just because" gift. I'm obsessed. It's extra cool because you're shopping local and supporting local businesses and artists. Tip: don't miss the trucks stopped outside that are also part of the event (esp Hunt & Gather!). So freaking cool that there are pop-up shops INSIDE trucks as part of the pop-up shop! As most know, shopping local oftentimes comes at a cost... and some things are a bit pricey. Which is why I'm knocking it down a star. It's not the market's fault, but it still makes it tough for us sort-of-frugal-buyers to find affordable items. I did, however, get an amazing coaster with the Brooklyn Bridge on it, painted by a local, and there were some plates/bowls and rings I had my eye on as well. Tons of options, and recommend EVERYONE stop by, no matter what price range you're looking in. I'll be back.

Jokes on us, 3/4 of us ended up getting food at Hainan Jones. I had a grilled chicken bowl from Wiki Wiki and we also had boba from Tea Makers. Everything at Hainan Jones was great. The bowl at Wiki Wiki was really good. The boba was just fine. You really can't go wrong with Dekalb Market Hall, there are literally so many options. The interior is laid out much like indoor markets in Europe with a mainly rectangular floor plan, split into a few different aisles with vendor stalls lining every walkway. High ceilings provide a sense of vastness though you'll occasionally see birds that have made their way inside flying around. The first floor is a mix of food vendors offering various hot/cold foods, a grocery, vintage record store, beer shop, wine bar, herbs and spices stand, bakeries and desserts, barbershop, flower shop, cheese and charcuterie purveyors, gourmet food gifts, coffee, fishmonger and butcher. Downstairs used to be a handful of additional food vendors, vintage/thrift clothing resale, an Asian grocery, leather goods stand, outpost of Yu & Me--a local bookstore, though PSA as of current (March 2026) status of the basement level is closed and under renovation. I'll be honest as much as this newer format is nice, whenever I've walked in there's never been much foot traffic, with the exception of days there are special events on weekends, perhaps because it's kinda further from more touristy areas while being too much of a destination (and on the pricier side) for locals. I also think that as a semi-kind of food hall place, there's not that much in-your-face evident seating for those who'd like to stick around to enjoy their meal or snacks, I think the addition of more open seating could be beneficial. All that being said, wishing all these vendors the best and hoping they're able to reopen the downstairs again soon! For more info: https://www.essexmarket.nyc Yelp note: review #1300!

Notes- Most dishes are a bit more, so see the photos, but not by much…read more I have been to this Ecuadorian restaurant twice at this point, though last time was long enough ago that even with my usual vast food memory, I barely remember what we ordered outside of it all tasting good. The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.
