I went around to a few other places and kept trying to get the same vibe, and I never felt it. I ended up going back today to get that exact dress, and I'm so so so glad I said YESSSS at Lotus! Thank you for such a great experience. A once in a lifetime moment can feel scary but I'm glad I had Nina with me to walk me through it :)

I called Bossina Couture and literally begged her to correct her error, she refused. My husband went to the store and offered to pay more for another gown, the owner dismissed him and told him to leave. I paid cash for this gown!!!! This is incredibly frustrating, especially considering the high price of the gown. I expected better customer service and at least the ability to exchange or return an item that was clearly not as ordered. I would not recommend this store to anyone based on my experience. I met her at her immaculate studio in Fort Green and fell in love with her immediately. She was super sweet, very supportive, but most importantly, very very calm. It was my first time being a bridesmaid in a VERY important wedding (I'm talking million dollar Great Gatsby type wedding, 1,000 guests being held at a private museum in California). I was going to be surrounded by a bunch of people from high school that I hadn't seen in ages, so in a way it was like the high school reunion I never wanted. It was important that I made a good impression. But, not surprisingly, the bridesmaids dress was hideous and fit me awkwardly. I looked like a seal dressed in a pear costume. I needed this fixed, pronto. The problem was I had to alter the dress without it looking like it had been altered. The bride(zilla) had specifically said that she didn't want anyone to change or alter the dress. When I told Sandra this, she was very understanding and dealt with my neurosis very well. What I liked her her also, was that she was very confident. She told me exactly what needed to be done to make the dress fit my body type and complement my curves and height. She assured me she would be stealthy about the alterations and clean everything up seamlessly so no one would ever know I had changed it. Less than two weeks later I went to go pick up the dress. I slipped the dress on almost in slow motion because I was apprehensive about how the dress would look. The wedding was a week away, so if it didnt work out, I wouldnt have much time to fix it. But ALAS, the dress FIT LIKE A GLOVE and I stood there staring at myself in the mirror, amazed that it was the same dress! I couldn't believe it! Somehow she made it so the dress actually looked flattering! I kept asking her over and over how she did it, and she said she changed the waist line, took in some of the weird puffiness out on the sides etc etc. I was totally flabbergasted and so, so grateful. Now I could go to this wedding confident, not having to feel self conscious in a dress that made me look ridiculous. I just came back from the wedding this weekend. It was a beautiful but ridiculous affair (people spraying 200$ bottles of champaign all over the dance floor, fighter jets flying over the ceremony, opera singers, lots of taxidermy). As I hoped, no one expected a thing. I even got compliments on how cute the dress looked on me, which we all know is rare for a bridesmaid dress. So, point is, go to Sandra with you most delicate, prized wedding designs and dresses. This girl is professional and patient. I loved working with her. If I ever decide to get married, I'm going back to her.

I'm giving 1 star because the dress itself was beautiful…read more Let's start with the service. They are very nice and helpful. Just know that when you find a dress you love they will charge you a deposit (totally fine and expected). You will get a bill that will tell you the balance. When you go to pick up the dress they will try to charge you more stating tax - even though this is on your receipt. They will tell you the balance is what you "would" owe if you paid cash on the day (or after) the wedding (the receipt does not say this). They will claim it is "the machine" that tells them the balance. Even when you show them the receipt - nope. It was a 40 minute ordeal to get them to charge the balance on the receipt. My friend who had picked up the dress for us and had to stand there for 40 minutes while I argued about wanting to pay the balance on the actual receipt. Also, when my daughter went for her final fitting they forgot about her appointment. she waiting for them to come and open the store and then to have the dress brought for her to try it on - this took over an hour! When I mentioned this to the owner/manager (not sure which she was) she said that was "her bad". Lets move on to the tailoring: The tailoring was horrible and didn't hold up. they did add a bustle which consisted of a metal piece that looked horrible on the back of the dress and it did not bring the dress up enough. The bottom of the dress hung lower than the bustle and looked really bad. the crinoline was tied so tightly (we paid for them the come and help her into her dress) that she had cuts. My daughter mentioned the beading was an issue at the top of the dress and was irritating her skin. She now has blisters across her upper chest and marks around her waist from the crinoline. My daughter wore the dress for the ceremony and had to change right after. Meaning: she couldn't even wear it for her entire wedding. I texted the owner/manager (again, I don't know which she is) the next morning, She apologized. basically said in 30 years in business she had heard of this happening, but hadn't heard theirs ever did that due to their premium quality underskirt. She thanked me for letting her know and said that despite the unfortunate issue with the dress she hoped my daughter was still able to enjoy the rest of her special day and the the wedding was filled with beautiful memories. I responded telling her that considering the dress is the actual main event for a bride - that ruined things for her as well as anticipated pictures and a much harder capture for the live painter who was supposed to use a picture from the reception. I did send her pictures. I did not hear back from her again. The woman who came to help my daughter into her gown was very nice. She did take pictures of my daughter in the dress and even a video that she posted on their instagram without permission. Keep in mind this was about 5 minutes after my daughter was in the gown. We only paid for her to be there just to help her in the gown. I was not about to pay $600 for her to stay all day. I actually wanted to cancel this service and asked for it to be taken off. When they finally decided to just charge me what was owed and not the additional BS money this service was still included. Since I paid for it I just rolled with it.

Anna was able to modify the dress to make it look as if it was ordered specifically for my measurements. You couldn't tell any work had been done it. The dress was very intricate in detail with lots and lots of lace. Anna was able to adjust everything needed on the dress so that it was in its place proportional to where it should be on me. During my last fittings, I noticed that I couldn't get my arm high enough for my first dance (this is an off the shoulder dress and those are inherently limited in arm movement because of where the fabric goes around the arm), not only did she alter it to add a bit more fabric that completely matched the dress and allowed me the needed extra movement, Anna did this all in less than 24 hours as I needed the dress by the next day to take back with my to CA where my wedding was. In addition to this, I had brought new shoes to my last fitting, and of course they were a different height than the previous shoes I had used during my fittings. Was this a problem for Anna? Nope! She was able to shorten the dress as well for the next morning. Anna is not only a great seamstress/alterations expert, but also such a pleasure to have done business with! She truly cares about her clients and strives to provide excellent service with every interaction. She also did alterations for my mother's mother of the bride dress. This was a heavily beaded dress which needed to be let out and shortened. The work on this dress was more than my wedding dress I think. You could not tell any work had been done it. Anna even added some sleeves as we needed something to cover my mom's arms for the ceremony. I highly recommend Anna for any alteration work needed. The business establishment is very professional with large mirrors and couches, not a little closet with a small thin mirror. You will truly feel like you are in expert hands, because you are!

I worked with Chrissie to create my dream wedding outfit, and she delivered something that was truly better than I could have imagined. I felt so beautiful and had so much fun wearing it! I got so many compliments from friends and family, and I felt truly like myself. I came to Chrissie with a pretty clear vision of the overall look I wanted to achieve, but with many unresolved details. Chrissie started by creating detailed sketches that pulled together my wishlist into something beautiful and unified. She created a muslin "draft" of the outfit first, and in a session in her studio she built out the garment on my body while we talked through different decisions. She even made the pant legs in two different styles, so I could decide which direction to take! She also pulled fabric samples and found the perfect colors and lace patterns. She even met with me at a fabric store so that we could look at and buy the cloth together. The process of building the outfit in the satin/silk happened across a few sessions, and Chrissie made sure to get every detail just right. Throughout the process, Chrissie was a joy to work with. She made the process so fun and put me at ease. She was always attentive and listened to my questions and ideas, and helped shape my ideas into something beautiful and real.
