I had no idea what style, what would look good; I'm on the larger side and i thought small shops only catered to smaller girls and were so over priced. I didn't look forward at all... When i arrived there the owner and her mother were so sweet and making me feel so comfortable. The owner asked me what i wanted and i told her I HAD NO IDEA. She looked at me and said ok go in the dressing room. She came in with five dresses. I was very self conscious to get undressed but she made me feel so at ease, talking to me and making me feel i was important. The first dress was the one. She spent 10 minutes tightening it putting on the veil and head peice. She knew i wanted it ... Instead of rushing me, she continued to put on every dress after that. She also completed each look with the veil and head piece. she spent over a hour even letting me try on the first dress again. I told her i wanted it, she said to think about it no need to rush. i was so scared it would cost a lot but i got it for 1,100!!! A dress that looks at least 5 grand. The veil is absolutley gorgeous and breath taking... i have to say i wish i could relive this moment because this fitting made me excited about planning my wedding... if i had a negative experience i don't think i would of went through with the hall and party. I can't thank you guys enough for making my dream come true. Any future events i will go here for my dresses, baby's christenings, future events...

Just know that when you find a dress you love they will charge you a deposit (totally fine and expected). You will get a bill that will tell you the balance. When you go to pick up the dress they will try to charge you more stating tax - even though this is on your receipt. They will tell you the balance is what you "would" owe if you paid cash on the day (or after) the wedding (the receipt does not say this). They will claim it is "the machine" that tells them the balance. Even when you show them the receipt - nope. It was a 40 minute ordeal to get them to charge the balance on the receipt. My friend who had picked up the dress for us and had to stand there for 40 minutes while I argued about wanting to pay the balance on the actual receipt. Also, when my daughter went for her final fitting they forgot about her appointment. she waiting for them to come and open the store and then to have the dress brought for her to try it on - this took over an hour! When I mentioned this to the owner/manager (not sure which she was) she said that was "her bad". Lets move on to the tailoring: The tailoring was horrible and didn't hold up. they did add a bustle which consisted of a metal piece that looked horrible on the back of the dress and it did not bring the dress up enough. The bottom of the dress hung lower than the bustle and looked really bad. the crinoline was tied so tightly (we paid for them the come and help her into her dress) that she had cuts. My daughter mentioned the beading was an issue at the top of the dress and was irritating her skin. She now has blisters across her upper chest and marks around her waist from the crinoline. My daughter wore the dress for the ceremony and had to change right after. Meaning: she couldn't even wear it for her entire wedding. I texted the owner/manager (again, I don't know which she is) the next morning, She apologized. basically said in 30 years in business she had heard of this happening, but hadn't heard theirs ever did that due to their premium quality underskirt. She thanked me for letting her know and said that despite the unfortunate issue with the dress she hoped my daughter was still able to enjoy the rest of her special day and the the wedding was filled with beautiful memories. I responded telling her that considering the dress is the actual main event for a bride - that ruined things for her as well as anticipated pictures and a much harder capture for the live painter who was supposed to use a picture from the reception. I did send her pictures. I did not hear back from her again. The woman who came to help my daughter into her gown was very nice. She did take pictures of my daughter in the dress and even a video that she posted on their instagram without permission. Keep in mind this was about 5 minutes after my daughter was in the gown. We only paid for her to be there just to help her in the gown. I was not about to pay $600 for her to stay all day. I actually wanted to cancel this service and asked for it to be taken off. When they finally decided to just charge me what was owed and not the additional BS money this service was still included. Since I paid for it I just rolled with it.

My experience and my wedding party's experience was VERY FRUSTRATING. I am a person who owns my own business and try my best to support black businesses. That being said, from day one our experience was horrible. We waited over an hour for Ilbert to get to the office for our appointment, only for him to show up at the end of our meeting with Jean- the owner and partner of the business. I would like to say Jean was the absolute best person to work with during our process, but he runs their Miami office, so only 2ppl in my wedding party really got to work with him out of Miami, the rest of us operated out of NY. Every meeting we had Ilbert was late with an exception of maybe 1, (even on our wedding Day when I gave another opportunity to do better paying extra money for an additional service). Their team showed extreme excitement at the concept of our wedding party's attire and mine, one of the bride's attire... But I guess that was phony. I paid extra to have my jacket engraved only for them to engrave the wrong thing into my jacket, with extra numbers that made no sense. Ilbert or other NY staff would cancel or ask to reschedule appointments at the last minute when I made it clear my wedding party was traveling from far some even out of town to attend fittings. One of my bridesmaids attire was NOT fitted due to a failure of successfully rescheduling for a fitting, when they CLEARLY used someone else's measurements in the first place to design her attire, let's not forget they measured her for a suit jacket, when NO ONE in my wedding party was wearing a suit jacket but me. I expressed my dissatisfaction several times to Ilbert and Jean. Jean would apologize at times not knowing what problems we were having in NY, and most of the time would be the one to rectify the wrongs, but Ilbert would always down play ANY issue I bought to him with a response like (oh yeah? Really? Oh wow...) I addressed Ilbert at the very last meeting asking why our experience had to be such an aggravating one, with constant latenesses, last minute rescheduling and at times not able to reach staff while waiting at their office with NO ONE there sometimes 30-40 mins past an appointment time. He gave the excuse/reasoning of it being their first "Big" wedding party and them being only a couple years into their business, but thanking me for my patience. Then offered another service costing MORE money to come and style my wedding party on the wedding day, seeing to it everyone was picture perfect, attire properly presented for each picture throughout the wedding and photoshoots. I wasn't interested in paying anything else or dealing with anymore of their shananigans but my wife suggested to get them, she had someone for her and didn't want me to have to stress the day of, so I hired them against my better judgement. They were almost an HOUR LATE arriving nonchalant as usual, me having to call Jean in Miami about the foolery in NY. One of my bridesmaids pants did not fit and were loose fitting and cuffed (standing out from EVERYONE else). My tail on my jacket (long penguin tail) was not laid but rather flipped in most pics with an exception of when my wife's hired person who would step in to fix my attire since my hired team dropped the ball every damn time. I brought it to Ilbert's attention when I noticed my jacket had extra crap engraved in it, his response, "oh wow, I don't know, but y'all look amazing". I later seen pictures of Garcon Couture staff- Ilbert on the sideline taking pictures of us, which is totally fine if he was doing his job at the wedding the whole time, but he wasn't. They ended up getting the balance for their being hired as our stylist late because they were so busy taking pictures and enjoying our reception no one went to my wedding coordinator who they delt with the ENTIRE process to pick up their final balance. But I had it taken care of as soon as Ilbert brought it to my attention while I was on my honeymoon. (Too be cont...) PS: the young man in the suit jacket was NOT a part of my wedding party, (Garcon Couture did NOT make any of his attire)
