    Lomo Salteado

The Lomo Saltado was absolutely delicious--tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The portion was generous, easily enough for two people to share. Our server was incredibly sweet from start to finish, making the experience even more enjoyable. Everything came out on time, fresh and hot. Highly recommend! I've already eaten here three times since discovering last month.

Huge selection of authentic Peruvian food, I would recommend the daily specials! Very friendly.

Delicious. The aji verde sauce is the best I've ever had. I'd buy this sauce in bottles. I got fried yuca and arroz chaufa with shrimp. Completely fulfilled the craving I had for Peruvian fried rice. Huge portion definitely worth the price. One order of rice was 3 servings for me. Also the fried yuca could be multiple servings. Highly recommend.

Los Nisperos is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the South Bronx! Me and my boyfriend Carlos headed out to this culinary destination, after my immunotherapy infusion session ended after 4:30 pm. I've been already craving Peruvian food for several days, especially for ceviche and yuca frita. As the early evening progressed and it got increasingly colder, I was still hesitant to go that far... It was cold and I was leaning towards a soup. Anyway, long story short, we headed out to Los Nisperos. As soon as we arrived, people were standing before the food counter, waiting for takeout. As soon as we took our coats off, and we sat, we were greeted by a polite waitress. Although the restaurant is small, it was nicely decorated with pictures frames up on their walls, which gave it a much more cozy, homey feel. We had a can of ginger ale each. There was a small plate of Peruvian toasted corn kernels. I had the tiradito, which is a Peruvian-style chicken rice soup. It was a very delicious dish; arrived piping hot at the table, with a lime wedge. Carlos had 1/4 rotisserie chicken, rice, beans. We shared the shrimp ceviche, with a side order of yuca frita and also an order of fried squid. This establishment is very down to basics; it's a hole-in-the-wall joint that truly delivers a flavorful punch. The rotisserie chicken was delicious, very juicy. We also enjoyed the fried calamari. It came with a dipping sauce. I believe, by the taste, that it was ginger-based, with a slight touch of honey. I must say, that the highlight of our dinner, was the shrimp ceviche. They were plump, perfectly marinated in its citrus juice. It also came in a crispy bed of lettuce, and the classic, red pickled onions. The best part of this dish, was the citrus marinade or as they call it, leche de tigre, tiger's milk...I really wished I had a spoon to drink all that flavorful leche de tigre! It was so good!!! Carlos looked at me like, "wow, you really are hungry, don't you?" I wiped clean every single plate. I almost cried when the waitress took the plate with the tiger's milk! The calamari platter also came with a bed of crispy lettuce. Next time, there will be room for desert! Overall, we were very satisfied. Excellent food, simple decor, and great service. I would never thought of such a great place to eat, in the South Bronx! The staff are very polite. The Spanish music is great, not loud at all. Their customer's restroom is CLEAN AND SPOTLESS. It's a definite plus. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I've been contemplating at the thought of returning soon. It also will be great to keep exploring this side of town, especially as the weather gets warmer. The portions are great. Not too big, not too small. They are perfect. This place is great for dinner with family and friends. Come on in hungry, and leave a very happy camper! Guaranteed.

    Our wonderful NY Day meal.

My wife and I live nearby and came down for a wonderful New Year's Day lunch and definitely plan to come back. We shared the Ceviche Mixto, 1/2 rotisserie chicken and a pitcher of Chicha de Maiz Morado, a sweet punch made from purple corn, cinnamon, sugar etc...very tasty and refreshing. The food was fantastic. The chicken, as we hoped, had crispy skin, but very tender meat. Also had a very ample serving of white rice that, simple as that is, caught our attention...not sure if they cook it in chicken stock or what, but it packed in a subtle but welcome taste above plain rice. The Ceviche portion was generous, with a healthy variety of fish and veggies and milky sauce. My wife could not get enough of the spicy-ish green garlic sauce served at all tables, as well. The waitress was very sweet and helpful. The bill came to $34, which we felt was more than a bargain. Thank you for starting our year off right!

Food is good but they add their own tip of $15 for a table of 3. Won't return again because of this.

The first thing placed on the table was their famous aji verde, the vibrant green sauce. I couldn't resist dipping my fork in for a taste--spicy, fresh, and absolutely addictive. We ordered a spread that truly showcased the menu: Mama Juanita's rotisserie chicken, perfectly seasoned and juicy; corvina; and a ceviche mixto loaded with shrimp, octopus, calamari, red onions, cilantro, rocoto pepper, and lime juice. It was so refreshing and flavorful that I found myself spooning up every last drop of the citrusy marinade. The lomo saltado was another standout--a savory Peruvian stir-fry with marinated strips of beef, served alongside crispy fries. We also added a side of maduros, their sweetness balancing the meal beautifully. The ambiance was casual, comfortable, and simple, with unique walls decorated in intertwined tree branches that added a rustic touch. The service matched the food--our waiter, the busboy, and the manager were all attentive, engaging, and genuinely friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Dessert was Tres Leches Cake. One bite in, and it basically melts in your mouth- no chewing required. It's sweet, soggy and by the end, you're not sure if you ate cake... or drank it--but either way, no regrets. Overall, it was a memorable meal full of bold flavors, great company, and warm hospitality.

But you order at the front, pick up your own food, box it yourself when you are done, and discard your own trash. I was the server today. That should be noted upfront because the website does not exactly make that clear. That said, the food was good. I got a stir fry dish with beef, fries, tomatoes and platanos. Mama bear got a Spanish chaufa which is basically the Peruvian version of fried rice. She seemed to enjoy it. I also got a side of squash soup which was pretty good. We washed it all down with Jarritos, the Mexican soda. Solid choice. Now the restroom situation. Chirp does not have a public restroom. My mom was bothered by that and I could see her starting to make it a thing. I had to nip that in the bud. I get it, I understand, but that is not the hill I die on. No restroom, no worries. It is what it is. The cashier was nice. The food got me full quick. I brought some home for wifey since she is a fan of Spanish food too. Overall Chirp is fine for what it is. It is more of a quick meal and delivery spot than a dinner service restaurant. If you go in knowing that you will probably enjoy it. If you go in expecting a proper sit down experience like I did, you might be caught off guard. Now you know.

We had tickets for the Lion King Broadway show so I asked about my entree & they told me it was being prepared. Since we were short on time, I talked to the hostess, explained the situation & asked if they could cancel my entree since I had already shared the appetizers with my husband & didn't want to inhale my main course before running out to the show. She was very nice about it. Apologized for the delay (which wasn't really their fault) & offered me a free drink if I came back.
