Asopao de Pollo
Joanna M.

I've had my fair share of greasy Spanish food, so when my mother-in-law recommended Sabrosura I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the food was without being greasy. Just on the corner a few streets away from the 6 train lies a Cuban-Chinese establishment that's been open for years. Ambiance is casual and relaxed and service is friendly; orders were communicated in Spanish. Our table shared the Tostones with Guacamole which was light and flavorful. Perfect for our group of four. For entrees, we got the Asopao de Pollo, Broiled Shrimps and Bistec Palomilla Platter, Pechuga de Pollo Encebollado, and Mofongo con Carne de Credo Frita. The Asopao de Pollo was a deliciously hearty soup with tender pieces of white meat chicken and served in a large portion. The chicken, steak and mofongo platters were equally large and featured hefty amounts of well seasoned protein with side salads and tostones. Everybody at the table enjoyed their food and all the meat was tender and juicy (even the leaner cuts!). My partner and I shared the guava tres leches which was a nice end to the meal. Whoever is here complaining that the food is on the pricier side must have never had a 12oz steak in Manhattan for 50 dollars. If there are restaurants that still serve hefty and delicious meat platters for less than 30 dollars, let me know. Otherwise, I'll be back at Sabrosura.

I love this place. The waiter is so amazing. The food is absolutely delicious. We used to come here a lot with my mom. She loved this place. My brother and I still come here to enjoy their food. They are friendly and wonderful. Thank you so much.

This is a Cuban Chinese restaurant that have been at this location very long time in the Bronx at Castle Hill Ave. Haven't been to this restaurant for many years, my wife decided to come here for dinner with my grandkids. We ordered Yuca Cangrejito it is a Yuca cup with crab meat, Mofongo with Steak, Mofongo with fried Pork chunks, Fried Fish with Seafood fried rice, and Shrimp mofongo bowl. All dishes was seasoned well, just the mofongo plantains was just a little on the dry side.

It's been about 6 years since I have eaten here. Due to an experience. I decided to give them another chance. My family and I do not eat pork at all. Actually Will get sick if consumed. Being that we don't eat it, we can tell when it has been prepared with pork. None of the items we ordered should have the smell that this food has. To the point where my hands smell like I was massaging a pork roast. Chicken and broccoli with shrimp fried rice, steak with onions and tostones, egg fried rice and chicken wings. The chicken wings don't match the photo on the website. They are completely different and burnt. We were unable to eat this food and I don't suggest anyone who doesn't eat pork to eat here. Very very disturbing.

Sad to say but I've been disappointed a few times after my first delivery from them. My Palomilla steak was dry and over cooked and my tostones were soft and not throughly fried.

Popped into Sabrosura on a Sunday evening and it was busy. It's a very popular chino latino restaurant in the BX. The host said it would be a 30 minute wait but we were seated in 15 mins. It being the first time I went to Sabrosura I had no idea we had to go up to the host station tell them the number of people n then they would give us a number. It was a bit confusing because people crowd the area so I thought there was a line. It was filled with families and we had 5 kids with us and they were welcomed and everyone was friendly. I love the shrimp Lo mein the flavor was there! My daughter loved the chicharon de pollo n churrasco I was a fan of the fried rice but the fried yuca was delish. It was a little pricey but they give a huge amount of food so I guess it balances out. Overrall a decent spot to eat at.

Chicken Gumbo Soup

I love chino-Latin inspired cuisine and been to a few restaurants that did Not disappoint. So after passing by sabrosura I had to stop by. Service and ambience were good but the food was lacking flavor and prices are a bit on the high side. My review is based off of two basic dishes that we ordered. I usually read reviews prior to going out to eat but this time I only got to read them after sitting down and ordering a beer. I decided to stick on the safe side and order something basic. I got the asopao de pollo which wasn't my favorite at all. It tasted like hella tomato sauce and I def felt like it was lacking something. My daughter decided to stick with the cheeseburger and fries and she hated it. I also took a bite of her burger and it was so dry and flavorless. The fries were also super mediocre. I won't be coming back.

I've been coming to this establishment for 20 plus years. Food is always delicious. Small establishment but always busy and food always fresh and delicious. Decor is simple yet cozy. Owners always have a smile when greeting at the door. It's really a family business catering to the community.

Chicken gumbo soup. Ehh. Still won't recommend this place. Caridad is way better!

I came here for first time on Easter to order take out. I figure quicker to order and have a test taste to see if it's good food. Also a friend of mine recommended a few years ago. I was in the area and ordered the chicken mofongo and chicken gumbo soup for my dad cause he was in the hospital. NEVER AGAIN!! The mofongo looked like throw up soup is how I describe it. And it's boggling to me is that on Easter 2023 it was full house and people were ordering food. The soup was ok but after seeing my mofongo I was grossed out. I threw away most of the soup. I paid $30 something for this order! I was so disappointed. First of all, if they can't make Spanish food well then they shouldn't have it on their menu. Maybe the Chinese food there is good but I wouldn't waste my money to go again. This is not real Spanish food and I'm Latina!

To my surprised, I was very surprised with their hospitality and their food. The host, owner went around to see how is everything going. What is outstanding they gave us an order not what we requested and did acknowledge right away and replaced and let us have the order at no charge. This is how a business is run , so my hat goes off , I as a business owner. The food was delicious and their drinks were outstanding.Had the following: 1: DomiRiqueno Pastelon, 2: Pork Mofngo 3: Bangkok Calamari 4: Home made Churros. There were other dishes we had as well. The food was blended well and seasoned. I as well as my neighbors enjoyed their excellent cuisine. I like to thank the staff, especially ISAMAL, our waitress for her kindness, and professionalism in making sure we were satisfied with their service and food and special thanks goes out to the Owner Sandra for making sure her staff took care of us and we were satisfied. I definitely will come back again. I normally don't go to restaurants in The Bronx because their food and service are not up to my standards. I travel a lot and enjoy giving reviews on restaurants. I will definitely ask for the waitress ISAMAL , you will not be disappointed with her kindness and professionalism and a beautiful smile that makes anyone's day a better day.

We decided to sit inside because it was a bit hot outside and inside were several empty two seater tables. A large party of more than 15ppl were seated, a table of 3ppl, and several couples at other tables. The place is tastefully decorated with a beautiful 3D aesthetic pleasing wall mural of a woman's face. 2 bathrooms were neat and clean. Food was delicious, and presentation was awesome. We ordered their sampler that comes in a 3 tier serving tray: coconut shrimp, calamari, chicken and steak skewers, wings(the only thing that didn't seem fresh and did not taste like sweet Thai chili-and we eat sweet Thai chili a lot -that's how I know), mini bite size various meat/seafood empanadas with the outer dough having a normal red or black coloring. The 3 chimi sliders were very tasty and the guacamole and yaniqueque -flat dough that is deep fried and crispy. Services although excellent seemed very slow. It is not uncommon to find service slower when there are less people in the establishment because staff will go about setting up their station, cleaning without noticing that people are waiting for water, ready to order food or drink or asking for the check. I empathized with a woman who I noticed sat by herself, slightly annoyed to wait to place an order her great looking fish-she had to signal a server to come take her order--by this time there are still several empty tables. Overall, because the food was great, I will come back again.

The vibes were amazing from start to finish: great music (major shoutout to the DJ), perfect lighting, and a lively, fun atmosphere that made the night feel special. The food was fantastic and the portions were huge -- seriously, two or three people could've eaten from my plate alone. I ordered the pernil with rice and beans, plus a variety appetizer platter. The pork was juicy (though I do wish the skin was a little crispier), the beans were flavorful, and both the garlic and chimichurri sauces were top-notch. The potato salad was okay, but overall, the meal delivered big flavor and big portions. Since it was my birthday, the team surprised me with a birthday flan and tres leches dessert plate that the restaurant provided. It was the perfect ending -- sweet, creamy, and delicious. The birthday celebration itself was incredible; you truly feel like a superstar. Between the LED signs, the DJ shoutouts, and your name flashing across the booth screen, the energy was unmatched. The drinks were just okay, nothing to write home about, but they got the job done. The only other downsides were the limited parking (especially at night) and the two-hour time limit for our party of ten. Still, it was a fantastic night overall. Great food, great vibes, and a truly fun experience. I'd highly recommend Made in Puerto Rico for birthdays, team outings, or anyone looking for flavorful food and an energetic atmosphere.
