I walked by this restaurant on my way to the dentist. I couldn't help to concentrate on the aromas. They drew me in. I ordered some of my personal favorites. I took them home and shared them with a friend. The ribs were a revelation. The shrimp lomein amazed me. The dumplings were fabulous. We ordered delivery from here and everything was good. The food was packed well and we did not have any leaking which I appreciate. We have a staple restaurant from which we always order but one of this place's dishes stuck out to me and had great reviews so that was what made me take a chance with them. I saw this picture of their Shrimp Chow Mei Fun everywhere and the shrimp were huge. People said it was a really good dish so I had to try it. I will say that it tastes really good but this recession has definitely affected the shrimp size. They serve medium-sized shrimp in this dish and the pictures where saw extra large shrimp, are likely no more. The flavor was still really good and I suggest asking for some chili oil as well, if you don't have any at home. That's a game-changer. We had their sesame chicken, shrimp dumplings, sautéed broccoli and wonton soup, which were all very good. They even pan fried the dumplings as requested. Their shrimp and egg rolls were fried very hard which I don't like. It's a little difficult for my daughter to eat the hard exterior as well. The fantail shrimp were very sad. I'm used to them being mostly breading but these are ridiculous. The shrimp size is a fourth of the overall breading. If it's getting too expensive to serve them, they may want to take them off the menu entirely and just serve fried shrimp or popcorn shrimp. They were literally that size. The house fried rice was also not a favorite. I'm not into super dark fried rice and it just seemed really hard. This is your run-of-the-mill neighborhood Chinese takeout spots I wasn't expecting gold standards but now I know how to order from them in the future if I ever have another craving for their Chow Mei Fun. read more

When we moved from Flushing Queens for the second time, we were stressed trying to find a decent basic Chinese restaurant. Saw this and gave it a try. Reminds me of the restaurants back in the 80's and 90's. I don't get fancy here. They are also cheap. When they had to close because of Con Ed they kept us informed. And yes the first time we moved from Flushing we just kept going BACK to get Chinese food. That trip can get tedious. And also our spot which was in business for over 20 years, Jade Fountain, closed so needed an alternative. Favorite thing to order is steamed chicken with vegetables and add jumbo shrimp garlic sauce on the side in addition to chicken fried rice add vegetables. Long story short husband and I remember Chinese restaurants in the 80's and 90's in Flushing adding veg to fried rice. Don't know why anyone stopped. So we ask specifically to add veg. One of the better Western Chinese food places in this area. The General Tso chicken was cruncy and flavorful. They use White meal only and the rice was cooked well. At first glance, Li's seems like an unremarkable dive, one of thousands and thousands of storefront Chinese takeouts. But this one's considerably different. This place is very busy, but everyone is very polite and efficient. It's actually inspiring. And the lunch special is CHEAP! $5.25! And you even get a can of soda! If there's one thing that Pelham Gardens has plenty of, it's Chinese restaurants. I've shopped around almost all of them and I have to say that Li's is one of the better ones. Ordering and delivery is some of the most streamlined I've seen for Chinese takeout; when you call the employees speak loud and clear and there's usually minimal background noise. Delivery is super fast and instead of ringing your bell they'll call you, which I like better. But what about the food, you say? In a nutshell, it's not spectacular but it's better than their competitors. That being said, it's what keeps me coming back to Li's. Their menu is what you would expect for Chinese takeout, but what I like is they don't cut corners - they don't skimp on the protein, the veggies are fresh, and the food isn't too greasy. Second time ordering delivery. I ordered 6 of the seafood vegetable rolls, steamed chicken dumplings, small shrimp lo mein, and a small general tso's chicken. We got a free can of Pepsi with the order, wish she told me I was getting a soda I would've gotten a sprite :( The delivery was fast, under 30 mins. And they call when they arrive. The total came out to $24.10. I enjoyed the seafood spring rolls, they were tasty, crispy and fresh, not greasy, but the chicken dumplings weren't to my liking. They were too dense and hard, and the filling was bland. I didn't try the other dishes, but I no one complained, so I'm sure it was fine. I think it's under new management. I don't eat Chinese take out as much as I do before didn't think it would be any good, but the food was actually pretty authentic. They added some extra ingredients like mushroom, eggs which brings out the flavor. Normally other Chinese take out restaurants are to cheap and exclude certain ingredients. I am so disappointed that I will not be purchasing from this place again and use to for more than 7 years. My husband went to pick up our order instead of delivery, like we normally would and he paid at the counter, but when he looked towards the back where they were cooking, he was looking at all three cooks with no mask over their nose and mouth. That's when he immediately asked for his money back. The person at the register asked why? What's wrong? My husband replied, no one has their mask on! The person who answered said that they don't have the drivers and decided to cancel my order? This isn't the first time my order was cancelled.
