Jimmy's has very high ratings for an American Chinese spot, and given that it does delivery, it was a no brainier to try. The platters are relatively well priced. Their pork fried rice has a decent, though not amazing, amount of actual pork in it. (I like the big chunks their rice contains.) The sauces aren't too gooey - just the right amount. I'd skip the dumplings - skin is too thick - and scallion pancakes - too soft - next time. But overall, I appreciated the main dish options and taste. read more

Cash only place. Many chinese food places in The Bronx, but few are good. Their food is fresh and well done. The prices are fair, though I often miss the days of Wings and fries for $2.25. The wings are good but small, the rice was a little bland and mushy. The ribs are great. Standard menu. Customer service is polite. Great food, cost, taste, and service. Jimmy's is one restaurant that I travel to that is not in my area. I do have many Chinese restaurants around me but Jimmy's is worth the drive. Hands down best Chinese food in the area. I consider myself a Chinese food enthusiast as it's my favorite cuisine. Food is always made fresh to order so it does take time to make. They are a cash only business. I have tried chicken, shrimp, soups, egg rolls, fried rice, all the classic dishes and always so good. At other restaurants you would occasionally get a bad piece of chicken that was chewy or fatty, not here. The chicken is always cooked well and never had a bad piece. You can't really sit down and eat inside as the tables are filled with boxes or soda and miscellaneous items but I always prefer take out. Highly recommend! read more

I wanted to try a different Chinese takeout instead of our regular one. I called jimmy's. They don't deliver. I totally get why. I wasn't going to order, but my husband said let's go pick it up. So I did order. A little out of the way for us, but it was excellent. We had the General Tao. I asked for it Spicy and crunchy, they definitely did that. We ordered an order of sesame chicken. My son loved it. Their white rice was really good too. We had dumplings and the boneless ribs. I thought the ribs were gonna be the small tips. Everything was good. Excellent take out. First visit. They are a cash only business. I ordered a four piece wing with french fries. I wouldn't come back for that. The fries were limp and didn't have any salt, seasoning, nothing on them. The wings were soggy by the time I got home. I also ordered spring rolls and a boneless barbecue spare rib combination platter which comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The boneless spareribs are the reason to come back. They are good. If they sold their boneless bbq spare ribs by the tray I'd happily buy them, add a smoky barbecue sauce on them and let them simmer in the oven and happily serve them to my family as a easy meal. read more

I really had high expectations for this place considering the yelp reviews, but it's a NO for me. We ordered vegetable fried rice, vegetable lo mein, and honey wings. While the honey wings were good, the vegetable fried rice was very bland. On top of being bland, the fried rice AND the lo mein both had long white hair in it. Sanitation is something more important than taste and for this I'm giving it one star. I have long black hair and my partner has short brown hair. I can't say much about the service because we only ordered over the phone and picked up quickly. The ambience wasn't welcoming either. I'm just overall grossed out. Jimmy's is hands down- The Best! I've been to a lot of Chinese restaurants for miles around- and Jimmy does it right! You will NOT find boneless spare ribs as large and juicy like they serve! You will NOT find garlic chicken wings like they pull it off! The food is tasty. The only thing they don't make I believe, is the egg rolls- those are mediocre. The best Chinese food. It lives up to its name. The garlic wings, egg food young and fried rice are great. Jimmy provides customer with his chinese accent which is signature!!! They delivered all the way to the Gun Hill post office! They said it would be an hour and it was. I really like their spring rolls. The chicken lo mein was also good, but nothing stood out so much so that I would feel compelled to order again. Though I appreciate that they delivered so far, the food is not worthy of an hour wait. I really appreciated the soft-boiled egg with its marinated egg whites. I also loved the big tender beef chunks as well. Overall, I really cannot wait to go back to Zhongzhong noodles and I hope that they open up more locations. I will say though that since I last went to the Roosevelt Island location, they have raised their prices quite a bit - maybe $2 or $3 per dish.
