    Passion fruit juice

This was my first visit, and I tried the chicken empanada and chinola (passion fruit juice), which totaled $10. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth it. The place is small but nicely decorated. However, I noticed one employee working very hard to prep and serve customers, while others were on their phones. As for the food, the chicken empanada was underwhelming; nothing special or particularly flavorful. The chinola tasted like what you'd find at most empanada or juice shops; nothing unique. I'd like to try their sandwiches, but I'm hesitant, as I'm concerned the price might not match the quality.

Time to update this review as they remain consistently good and a go to spot for new when in Inwood. I've been coming here for years, ever since the time I used to live in Inwood. To this day, I have yet to come across a cachapas that rivals what they make here. While the prices have gone up to keep pace with the increase in prices, this is still cheap and the quality remains consistent.

One of my favorite Venezuelan food in NY!! They empanadas are great, the pastelitos amazing, the sauces and the pan dulce! OMG Sadly we live far in Astoria and can't go more often!!!

I always love getting a pollo cachapa with everything. They are the best, I am not lying. When it comes for cachapas - this is where it's at. I no longer live in the Bronx, but they surely see me coming every few months to get my order with a chinola juice and a sweet/savory cheese stick. FIREEEEEE.

This is the last time I get food from this place. I don't care how hungry I am or how late it is, I refuse to lower my standards anymore. This place is open late which is why I always end up giving them a chance, but each time it feels like my food has been put in the microwave for an hour. This place puts real Venezuelan food to shame, i wish people knew how good and FRESH this type of food truly is. The food always has a cardboard like taste, it never tastes fresh and always comes later than expected, for delivery or in store. I understand they're always busy and overwhelmed but it's been years of low quality and if a business strategy is lowering the quality of the food then why would people pay money to indulge? Do better.

I ordered the Patacon with shredded chicken and a Papelon (lemonade with cane sugar). Good food and very friendly employees. The ambience was nice, a lot of seating to eat inside and a small patio area to eat outside. Pretty affordable price. Does accept card and cash. ---- Ordené el Patacón con pollo mechado y un Papelón (limonada con azúcar de caña). Buena comida y empleados muy amables. El ambiente era bonito, muchos asientos para comer adentro. Precio bastante asequible. Aceptan tarjeta y efectivo.

My friend had to order in spanish for me, but I've been craving cachapas ever since I tried it for the first time here! It's crazy how few places in the city make these. The corn cakes were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, warm, and slightly sweet. Loved the cheese in it, reminded me of a warmed up slice of fresh mozzarella. Sauce really brought the veggies and meat together. The cold passionfruit juice really hit and completed the meal :)

2 of us shared the cachapas with full meat and cheese along with one tequeno and tequeyoyo. The cachapas was warm and sweet as I liked it and the pernil had a strong flavor that really stood out. I might opt for just pernil next time since it was hard to distinguish the meats. Or perhaps a less flavorful meat and pile on the 2 bottles of sauces they have (green, and a sweeter red). The cheese was not really melted which I would have hoped for. The snacks were good although I don't think they are a must have. The tequeyoyo had a fruit paste in it (guava?) that was just alright to me.

Really tasty! We had arepas while in the area to visit the met cloisters. The pollo asado was better than the mozzarella, I'd pass on that. This spot seems very popular amongst people who live in the neighborhood. Ample space, prompt service, and yummy food!

Plenty of seating inside and outside. Fast service, nice servers. The burritos are pretty good. I didn't love my cachapa, the corn was just too sweet for the filling and the beef was a little dry. Otherwise, sauces were good. I would come back for a burrito but not sure if I would try a cachapa again.

I was never a big fan of arepas. I've tried them a handful of times and wasn't particularly wow'ed…read more I assumed perhaps this specific dish wasn't my thing, but after trying this cafe, I realized that I simply haven't tried good arepas before! My friend and I came for a late lunch on Tuesday. There were plenty of seats available, and we were seated close to the entrance. The staff was friendly, and our server in particular was clearly passionate about Venezuelan cuisine and was excited for us try to their dishes. My friend ordered their pulled pork arepa, and I ordered one of their rice plates. The arepa was filled to the brim. It was full of beans, meat, and topped with cheese. My plate was absolutely delicious and its aroma filled the restaurant. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and saucy. The plantains were pan fried to perfection, tender and sweet. The beans were flavorful. I could have just that with rice all day. Writing this review is making my mouth water. Maybe I should return there soon!

Food: solid 8/10 Service: 8/10…read more My only reason for the 3 star review is because this establishment charges gratuity without informing the person. There is clearly a tip option at the bottom so I ended up paying double tip. It is common practice for the restaurant to inform the consumer when they do this.
