I haven't found many good Venezuelan places in New York - and while this one is tiny, it punches above the waist compared to others in Manhattan. PRO: - great coffee & food - has a market (although it's tiny) - and also sells frozen tequeños (not made in-house, good to have some at home) - makes tequeños in-house - great tres leches CON: - a lack of good A/C? - no golfeados Service was overall friendly, although the first trip I had there, the young female barista (who was great and did latte art) didn't give off friendly vibes. A lady in my second visit however, was much friendlier. The place overall gives off a simple vibe - perfect for a quick bite and college students (not so much for families or a full dine-in experience). Still - I no doubt will return as I'm happier with the food there than in most other establishments nearby. read more

It's fine, nothing special. I feel as though the arepas are missing something or maybe they just aren't very good. I had also heard that the arepas were incredible here so that was misleading. The green sauce complemented them perfectly after each bite. For my main, I had the pabellón arepa, and it was shredded beef that was tender and flavorful, the black beans and sweet plantains added the perfect balance of savory and sweet, and the arepa itself was fresh, warm, and had the perfect crisp texture. Tried the cachapa for $12, costs $4 to add protein otherwise comes with cheese only. Veg empanada with plantain and beans is $6. Came to $20. Got the veggie arepa split in half and it was okay, nothing too special and definitely a bit on the drier side. Wish they put some of the sauce they usually put in the others. It was definitely one of the best empanadas I've ever had! After, I tried both the Classic Reina and an arepa with shredded beef, plantains, cheese, and black beans.
