Pio pio never disappoints! I have craved this meal for weeks and so happy I finally treated myself. I got the classics - rotisserie, rice and beans, avocado salad, and their famous green sauce. The service was fast and the packaging was also acceptable, however the flavor was not there. You can really tell that the chicken was not freshly made and was just reheated from at least the day before. The chicken chaufa was so-so lack of flavor but good quantities for the price paid. The Lomo Saltado was OK, sauce was al mix up with the rice in the same container, I think it will be good if the sauce and rice are packaged in separate containers. The jalea sauce was good and generous, also the green salsa was good. Pio Pio is fantastic! The restaurant is very homey feeling, with a very basic setting and paper table covers (kids can draw on it!) but the food and service is wonderful. The portions are generous and pricing is reasonable. Not pictured is the full bottle of green sauce given to the table as soon as you're seated. The sauce goes with everything! We ordered ceviche, yuca fries, and half chicken and I'm happy to say everything was delicious and flavorful. The sangria was a massive cupful and super refreshing! I was a fan of this place before but we used them to cater our last office party yesterday and it was Terrible! We ordered 4 of the matador combos. They sent us a small pan of rice and the pan was not filled. The chicken was EXTREMELY salty that we had to toss most of it and send out for more from another place nearby. They even skimped up on the salad. I was going to let this go but I received so many complaints about the food quality and portion today which was a day later. Mind you we used them before and it was way better. I called them and not much can be done. I'm writing a 5 star review for a restaurant primarily known for its Peruvian rotisserie chicken and I don't eat chicken. This sounds a bit absurd on its face, kind of like going to a steakhouse as a vegetarian (except turning around and writing a poor review of that steakhouse would be well, poor judgment) but hear me out. Their long menu of Peruvian classics, including ceviche, maduros, salchipapa, and rice and beans are prepared amazingly well and made even more delicious by their famous green sauce. I recommend calling ahead and ordering a bunch of food to go and eat with a few friends so you can sample a wide variety of dishes. I did just that and had a veritable 5 star feast. I think I need to dedicate a section of my review to the green sauce. Zesty, creamy, spicy-- aji verde is a beautiful combination of cilantro, onion, garlic, mayo, mustard, and jalapenos. It goes with pretty much any savory food and can punch up even the blandest dish. It's also developed such a following that they even sell the sauce by the pint, and it is totally worth it. I pretty much douse every bite in the stuff. I follow a pescatarian diet and was happy to find multiple seafood options on the menu, including calamari and two types of ceviche. I went with the mixto, which included generous pieces of shrimp, octopus, and calamari marinated in a lime and pepper juice. This paired wonderfully with a number of different carb options, which I rotated through, including rice & beans, maduro, and salchipapa. Every bite was better than the last, and I found myself reaching for more food long after I became full. I'm happy to have been indoctrinated into the Pio Pio cult, even as a non-chicken eater. I've been sleeping on the rest of their food, but now that I'm privy to it, I'll certainly be back for more. read more

Visiting New York we had seen decent reviews for this place and were craving Peruvian food so we thought why not check it out. I enjoyed the inside decor with the branches and nest looking objects. The waiter was a bit serious from start to end, but we decided to focus more on the food. My chicken was pretty juicy and was a sufficient portion. The plantains were undercooked unfortunately and we are Central American so we definitely love our plantains. What stood out was when I went out to the restroom and my mother presented the waiter my card she said I would be right back in order to write in my tip and sign and the waiter stated that he had to take the slip right away and could not wait for me. Essentially my mother signed for me and given the service that we had received I would not have provided such an amount. read more
