This is the ultimate comfort food. When I'm having a rough day where I just want super rich, decadent, yummy food and want to stuff my face until I can't leave the couch, I go here. And yes, I do this a lot. Their portions are huge. It's an amazing steal. I like getting their pork belly by the pound because it's delicious and why not? Their spicy sauce is also so so good. I love Los Hermanos. Since my favorite Jamaican place is renovating, I've been looking for something to fill the void, and the Dominican cuisine at Los Hermanos has been doing a great job of that. The staff is friendly and you almost feel like you are at someone's house (especially when you get served on whatever plates they have - like Christmas tree plates). Usually, I just point to whatever looks good at the buffet. Mostly, I end up chicken, rice and peas, and an empanada. They've not had the pork when I've been there, but I am looking forward to trying it. Sometimes, if they have cassava, I'll get that too. You can order tostones as a side, but it's a big order, so I haven't tried those yet. I've been when the empanadas are fresh and hot, and they are so good. The arroz was okay, and the fried tostones were fresh, as they want to have it freshly fried before you arrive (as that's when it tastes best). You don't know what the food is in the trays because it's not labeled and there isn't a menu posted. I've been three times and each time - No oxtail, No mondungo and no chicharron chicken. It's a simple cuisine, and the rice and plantains were satisfactory. Pulled pork was a bit dry for my liking. Also got the chicharron and something else I couldn't identify (see why below), and that I disliked. Coconut treats were yummy. I'm pretty sure I couldn't have gone wrong with any of the desserts. Los Hermanos is the opposite, the quality of food is really good, it's one of the best Dominican restaurants in the area, but the price is still really good, you can get a great amount of food and only have to spend $12. The food here is excellent, we definitely recommend getting the coconut fried tilapia or the pollo guisado. The fried plátanos are really good too, we definitely recommend the plátanos. The rice is perfectly spiced, you're definitely not getting rice that tastes like it's coming from a box. You can't go wrong with any order here, all the meat selections are excellent as well. The pastelitos are really good here too, wish they had a little more meat inside, but they're still good.
