Sangria
Ryan F.

Out of Country Review - Spain Went for dinner at Lonja De Tapas on Sunday night. A forgettable dining experience in a place with too many other great restaurants to merit a return. Quality: A mixed meal at Lonja De Tapas, which was a pivot due to the limited restaurants open on Sunday night. The highlights were the lightly breaded Fried Calamari, the hefty Bombas, and the sweet and savory Fried Camembert. I was less of a fan of the super sweet Sangria, the ultra rich Garlic Shrimp, and the strange Salmon Tartare. Quantity: Tapas menu with many small plate options. Value: Decent prices. Ambiance: Lonja De Tapas is located in the El Born neighborhood of Barcelona. It is in a short stretch with several other restaurants and bars. They have tables out on the cobble stone street, and then a long and narrow inside space with walls that either are or look like they have been in place for ages. Crowd: Fairly busy for dinner. Service: Distracted staff.

We came here for lunch on our last full day in Barcelona. We stumbled upon this place as we walked around the El Born area. There are several restaurants in this area and I'm glad we ended up at Lonja de Tapas! I ordered the chicken and vegetables paella and bravas - both were great! The paella could've been shared between two people; we had a lot of leftovers. The bravas were amazing, by far the best ones I've had in Barcelona.

On our last night in Barcelona (22 Sep 2019), four of us dined at Enjoyable Evening at Lonja de Tapas - Montcada. My husband and I were in the area earlier in the day and checked out several menus. This place wasn't crowded, so we got a table right away. We all had a delicious sample of tapas. My husband and I shared garlic flavored prawns, grilled squid, traditional Catalan flatbread with tomato and olive oil, and fried Camembert with a mixed berry sauce. My friends had Pulpo, Manchego cheese, the flatbread, and grilled squid, Everything was excellent. We had wine (Cantamañanas, a Tempranillo grape) and beer with our meal. As we were getting ready to leave, it started to pour, so we decided to hand around and have a bottle of wine. Good decision. Service by our waiter fine. I would definitely return for another great meal.

Tasty tapas and vino for dinner

We came here for a tapas dinner one night after visiting the Picasso Museum nearby. I have to agree that the prices are bit high for tapas but the quality of food is makes up for it. We waited a while before our waitress to our table since they were short staffed before the peak dinner hour. We ordered 4 tapas with the Catalan tomato bread. The tuna was my favorite by far! I loved the soy sauce dressing and the black sesame. The ham croquettes were mostly potato with only bits of ham. The tomato bread didn't only had specks of tomato on there compared to what we had the night before. We mistakenly got the chicken nuggets instead of shrimp, but we did get the shrimp at the end. The Camembert cheese was really delicious! The wine was very good as expected. Overall, the food here was just OK...nothing to rave about. The service could be more attentive as opposed to feeling rushed. You may want to choose another place if you're looking for authentic Spanish tapas.

Tough one to rate, because I loved its area, decor, & vibe, just that 2 out of the 4 food items were just average...but boy, was the sangria the strongest ever!!! Definitely would come back to get hammered just for this, and dirt, dirt cheap too, considering in a trendy, historic area. The chicken skewers were ok (quite big chunks, moist) but the calamares tasty and some deep fried shrimp & its accompanying mayo dip, absolutely deleesh. Look at these pics, who wouldn't want to order these lol. I even attached the receipt so I'll know what to order next time. Area-wise: definitely the spanish flair, a bit gothic with some new. Service, actually, could've been nicer but he was efficient haha. Trendy, clean washrooms in the back. This is a great place for a party for sure. Liked its open, long concept. I'll return.

Chocolate coulant with olive oil and salt

¡DIOS MÍO! This place was amazing. We weren't that hungry so we only stopped for a bite. This sounds so American, but we had seafood all week, so we decided to just get the hamburger and the crispy chicken with the curry sauce, and we were blown away by the quality and freshness of the ingredients. I wish we were hungrier because everyone seems to enjoy their food here. We ended the evening with a Chocolate Coulant drizzled with olive oil and salt which was just sweet and just savory enough to clean our palettes. This was made perfect by our hostess who was super friendly despite being very busy! Also, great WiFi and atmosphere! Thanks!

Gazpacho

The very decent 10$ menu del dia for lunch is what we went here for. It was a three course meal ( first course, main dish, dessert) with bread and drink included. The gazpacho was excellent, with no cream in this one, in a rather large bowl. Croquetas were also very good, having tried many throughout Madrid and Barcelona. I chose the sea bream over potatoes for the main course, which was a whole fish and very substantial. Potatoes were delicious. Everything was plated nicely as well. The Creme brûlée was subpar, but overall this was a great meal for 10$. (+) gazpacho (+) croquetas

We came here to sit and drink a little bit while waiting for our reservations at Tapeo. Fairly spacious with lots of seating, it wasn't as busy as other tapas locations in the vicinity. Our bottle of wine was priced ok. No service really as we were seated at the bar. Bathrooms located in the very back past the bar.

Patatas bravas ...yum

Came here twice, the first time was because it was the only place open after 4pm and we were starving... We found the tapas to be delicious (see pics). Calamari, pasta tags bravas, beans with chorizo and pan con tomate... Yum! Great service and drink selection, they make a good sangria and mojito too. Also, FYI they take Discover card which wasn't easy to find (Discover card doesn't charge you the 3%conversion). The second time we had a prefix lunch, it was mostly good but not as good as the tapas, price was good and came with delish cava. They also have a lot of room for big parties if you need. The location is super convenient, right nearby the Picasso museum.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

We were happy to enter the cozy La Alcoba Azul and seated by a smiling host immediately & presented with menus. The interior looks almost like a wine cellar with brick vaulted ceilings. The offerings are best described as fusion tapas but there are a few traditional bites as well. Our waiter presented us with an amuse bouché of pumpkin hummus topped with roasted pepitas on an herbed toasted baguette crisp. DELICIOUS! We confidently ordered the tomato tartare with avocado cream, basil, olive powder and rosemary olive oil caviar as well as a half order of cured Iberican meats featuring chorizo, loin, sausage and ham, an order of the hummus with black olives, parsley, pine nuts and pita triangles. All were terrific! We especially enjoyed the meats and tomato tartare. I enjoyed a red sangria that was satisfying and happened to be topped with cinnamon...a first and welcome addition for me. Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip.
