Bronson Boyd is my hero!! I went camping last weekend at the Old Settler's Music Festival and after taking all the camping gear out of my car, I took my son and grandson to dinner. While returning home, my 9 year old grandson, who was sitting the the back seat, starting screaming that a scorpion was crawling on the seat beside him!!! I pulled over as soon as I safely could, we jumped out of the car and I saw a HUGE scorpion right in the middle of the back seat of my car!! YIKES !!
We tried to push it into a box with a stick, but it ran up the back and went into the hole where the seat belt attaches.
My first thought was that I will have to sell my car! How could I safely drive a car with a scorpion living in it? They can survive months without food and live for 6 YEARS!!!! They also give birth to live babies..and this one was husky...
While my son went to the store to buy scorpion pesticide, I cut bunches of lavender and rosemary from my garden and spread it all over the back seat, back window and under the seats of my car. Scorpions are repelled by the herbs and my goal was to keep it from crawling to the front of the car while I was driving. I am a good driver, but cannot guarantee that I could maintain control of the car if a scorpion was crawling on me! I also placed insect sticky traps all over the seat and the back window.
The next morning, the drive to work was tense. When I told my work mate about my dilemma, she immediately offered to call our office pest control man, Bronson Boyd, to see what he recommended.
Well, Bronson was at my office within a few hours, did not laugh at my car stuffed with lavender, rosemary and sticky traps and thoroughly sprayed my vehicle's crevices with the substance used in homes that are infested with scorpions. He told me that the scorpion will walk across the substance and will be dead in 1 hour. He also said that this was a first car/scorpion experience!
Bronson was awesome and assured me that the scorpion will no longer be crawling around my car. I am so grateful because I don't have to sell my car and I am much less freaked out by the whole experience! However, In a few days, I will remove all the herbs and sticky traps and will look for a body with a black light! read more
