Normally I don't write negative reviews, but I don't want anyone else to go through this. Would not recommend having your house sprayed inside. The chemical they use has a strong order and after 12 days I still can't get it off my floor and baseboards after trying 3 different cleaning solutions. The product gives me a headache and does NOT go away. And of course the worst room is my TV room. I have also tried ventilation and a fan (their suggestion) and obviously that doesn't remove the product. They offered no other solution, to come check it out, or expressed concern. Just repeated they used the product recommended and applied it correctly. Not sure how the person in the office would know that. They even sprayed it on some blankets I had in one of the rooms. The gal on the phone said the tech wouldn't do that. Was not impressed. Even when I cancelled my servcie they did not care...just let us know if we can help you in the future. I recently had Research Pest Control come to inspect for a possible animal in the attic, as our neighbor had Research Pest Contro remove a raccoon from their attic. While here, I had them accomplish a rodent inspection too since the area around our house has had some construction and wooded and grass areas disturbed. I have been a customer for seven years. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what has been happening over the last 6-12 months. I scheduled my quarterly service for today between 11am-12pm. I rushed home from the gym and cleaned up the house. I happened to pass through the living room at 5 minutes until 11am and noticed the truck had pulled up. Perfect on timing from a service perspective! Not so much. I went to take the trash outside and noticed the truck was gone. The technician (I was about to mention his name but refrained) never rang the door bell and left. He was courteous enough, however, to stick a business card and note on my door "advising" me that they came by today between 11-11:30am and that I now need to contact their office to reschedule. I am attaching a picture of this nice note with the time stamp from the phone as proof. What's funny is that they have my cell number and never bothered to call. Research Pest Control--if your employees are in a rush to finish their Saturday workload, don't bother offering Saturday service. This is not a good example of customer service and you should be ashamed at what your company is offering. This is the second time this has happened where you did not fulfill my service request. The last time was back in September. I left a message on your office voicemail last time and never received a response. Again, a fine customer service example. Unfortunately, I have given you a second chance and you failed miserably. Over the course of 7 years, I have spent upwards of $1,800 for quarterly service. I'm taking my business elsewhere going forward--to a company that at least cares. read more

We have been customers for over 25 years, back when the brothers used to do the treatments themselves. Recently, a new guy did the treatment, but some insects came back in only 3-4 weeks, so we requested a re-treatment. We've only ever needed that maybe 2 times before. Instead, we got a phone lecture on how to be a better homeowner from a scheduler we have never dealt with before. Not sure what part of "we've been homeowners since the mid 80's and you've been our company" that she didn't understand? Then, she called back to apologize and when I asked for her manager, she lolligagged on transferring me to one. Three strikes in one occurrence. Time to find another company. They are only getting 2 stars here because of the prior years of good service. We sure do miss Chet and his brother's personal touch and the good ole days with this company. read more

I started with Research Pest Control in 1996 and have stayed with them because they are reliable and do a great job. This week I was less then satisfied with their service. It was a Friday afternoon and he treated my property in record time - I guess he was in a hurry to get home for the weekend. When I noticed that the outside had not been treated with the granular barrier I called and requested a retreatment. The same serviceman came back obviously unhappy that I complained about his service. I didn't appreciate his attitude. Nevertheless, he retreated my property as requested. I won't drop Research because of one bad apple. read more

Research is great - Michael came out and set traps in our attic and blocked all the holes roof rats were getting through. We live in the inner city (Bouldin) of Austin and have a HUGE pecan tree directly next to our house. Rats love pecans. So seven rats in our attic were killed by the traps in just two days. Creeped us out, for sure. Michael or his co-worker Mike (both great guys) will come out twice a week to check the traps until there are no more rats. The cost for that is a reasonable $270 or thereabouts. Well worth it, since my husband and I and our two cats want nothing to do with trapping/killing them ourselves. Rats are a huge problem in Austin and we are so glad we found Research before those suckers ended up in bed with us. We also like that Research accepts credit cards, since we're into those points. read more

I recently moved to Austin into a duplex with several unwanted rent free pests waiting to greet me when I moved in. In one night I killed multiple ants, roaches, silverfish, and a baby scorpion. It was quite the party. It is no surprise that I was very early the next day seeking advice on pest control. The landlord highly recommended Research Pest Control, and I noticed they had high reviews on Yelp. I immediately dialed them, and enjoyed speaking with the friendly lady on staff, who got me scheduled within a couple of days. The first person came out and sprayed, and due to the high volume of guests, let me know to call back in a week if I saw signs persisting. As there is a 90 day guarantee, they come back out within that timeframe, for no extra charge. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly (even talkative), and never once pushed me to do any additional services. I had to highly request a lawn control for flees - even though it's not flee season - I just wanted to start out fresh in the new place (I was probably overly paranoid from the bug party from several nights before). After the first control, the volume of bugs went down, but I was still seeing a couple here and there after a week, so I called back. They came out recently a second time, a different guy, but still informative and friendly. They did a couple of extra things and wow have I noticed a difference since. The only bugs I have seen have been dead so far! It's nice to go several nights without having to kill some critters. Hopefully I won't have to call them in 2 weeks, but I have the peace of mind knowing that they are there for me if I need them. I loved that I didn't have to sign any formal contract when signing up for services. They do a quarterly service renewal n which you are not obligated to receive it, but they will call you each quarter to schedule a time to come out. Goodbye bugs, hello sleep! read more

For a big party during the summer, it's a good idea to have them dust your lawn for mosquitoes. It will run you $60 for an average size yard. Worth it to enjoy your party without bites! I had signed up for Research Pest Control's quarterly pest service and stopped using it because it did not resolve a silverfish problem. They did clear up an ant problem in my shed. read more

Had a red wasp problem in our new house where the critters had nested in multiple places under the roof shingles. I looked around for some different companies online and found Research to be the most affordable. They were also the most professional in their communications, and it was in all very easy to set up an appointment. The tech came out to my house at the right time, looked around and then went at it. I thought there might be a problem to reach the back side of the house because of its position in the very sloped terrain, but no. He got every single spot where the wasps were, sprayed under the balconies and the rest of the house as well. The whole thing didn't take him more than 30 minutes. We've used Research for years now and their customer service is unmatched. The tech usually shows up at the exact appointment time (which is so appreciated if you have other commitments). Even though it's misty/damp outside today he reassured me they'd come back to re-spray if it's not to my satisfaction. I asked if he'd rather I reschedule now with the weird weather and he said he's already scheduled to be here, so he'll spray. He didn't take that as an excuse to take a work break. These techs are hard-working and so knowledgeable, and I always know they're giving me top-notch advice on how to move forward with any problems. I first used Research Pest Control when I was having scorpions in the house. I went through the phone book (yea, it was a few years ago) and as I went down the list asking if they guaranteed against scorpions I kept getting "no". Got all the way to the R's and someone there said, "Ma'am, if you get rid of the bugs, you'll get rid of the scorpions." HIRED! I have used them now for over 30, yes 30, years. If you have a 4:00 pm appt, you'll drive up and they will already have done the outside of the house. A few months ago their office called me 15 minutes before my appointment apologizing that the technician would be late due to being stuck waiting for a train. He actually arrived right on time. He still apologized. I told him that even if he had been late, since it was the first time in 30 years they would have been late, I could give them that one. Everyone is polite, efficient and knowledgeable. I am on the quarterly service and if I call them saying I am seeing creepy crawlies (usually only after a lot of rain), they don't argue. They just arrange for someone to come out and re-treat. I have lived in Cedar Park, Austin, Georgetown and Round Rock. I always take them with me. I cannot think of another company I have dealt with that has had such stellar performance - customer service-wise and technical-wise. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

I made an appointment for the tech to come out, waited and noone showed up . I called and was given an excuse and rescheduled for the folowing wednesday. We are renting out our house in Steiner Ranch, UT Golf Course Community and the tenant reported hearing sounds in the walls. Naturally, we thought squirrels or rats. Our neighbor recommended Research Pest Control, so we called them. Although they were completely booked for this week, they found a time to do a quick inspection to provide a quote. The serviceman showed up on time, but my tenant was late. We received a very polite call from the service technician saying no-one was home. He said he could wait a few minutes until the tenant arrived. And he did! The tenant arrived and the Research service tech did an inspection of the house, attic, and home exterior. He could not find any signs of rats or squirrels, so he advised that it was most likely lizards, and recommended that the tenant monitor the situation and call if they hear different sounds. He also advised that lizards are a good natural form of pest control. What company does this!? They had a chance to charge us for full service, set traps for rats & squirrels, and take us for money because we would not know any different. Hey, I know nothing about pest control. But he didn't do that. Because he was honorable, trustworthy, and customer focused! We were not charged for the inspection, and the service tech even refused a tip. WOW! I called the office and they said they came to my home to provide a quote, so there was no charge. I was really amazed. I am now hiring them to do preventive pest control on all of my rental properties. I know they are honest, reliable, patient, and professional. I can't recommend them enough! Though they did a lot of work, Research pest actually didn't solve my rodent problem after all. I had a weird situation in which the rats were coming in from under the house - the company told me they had done all they could do but didn't offer to refund my money. I do think sometimes entry points are so difficult that a pest-control company cannot expel all pests without structural improvements, but i also think that means the "guarantee" of a pest-less house for a certain price was not met. read more
