I'm trying to understand why my experience is so different from these 5 star reviews.. I contacted them about an ant infestation inside my home. The technician who came out placed sugar bait inside to eliminate the colony. He told me that an exterior treatment was not necessary at that time. I accepted that recommendation, due to potential exposure for my active dog. Months later, I called to follow up because the ant problem had not been resolved. I was then told the $216.50 treatment of simply adding sugar bait for the interior also included exterior treatment during the original visit. That was surprising because I was never told an exterior treatment had been done. When I asked where it had been applied, they did not give me a clear answer regarding the exterior. Paying for another treatment isn't the issue. If the ants require another visit, I'm happy to pay for it. My concern is that the explanation of what was actually done has changed. Now, they're saying I have to pay another $216 for their services again. Something just isn't adding up. If there's a reasonable explanation, I'd like to hear it. Based on the conflicting information, I have little confidence in their service. read more

Magic Pest and Lawn has been a great business to work with over the last couple of years. They helped me solve the critter invasion of raccoons and squirrels that try to get in all of our homes. I am critter free. I pay for an annual plan and they visit and spray my house several times a year for a reasonable price. I have found they charge less than other companies for better service. The staff is helpful and efficient. I want to highlight their employee, Brandon, who has been so kind and friendly to my 2 rescue kitties. We called Magic to trap a skunk in our yard. The technician came out quickly and got the trap set up. Over a week, managed to catch several possums and raccoons but no skunk. Our technician always came over quickly to release the critter and reset the trap. We're still trying to catch the skunk and the service continues to be excellent. read more

Their policy clearly states that "ant mounds will be treated during your quarterly pest treatment." However, my ant mound was not handled during the service. When I contacted customer service, they refused to fix the issue and instead wanted me to pay an additional $50 for granules. They do not follow their own policy and try to charge extra for services that should already be included. Very disappointed. Giving 2 stars since they got nice technicians **************************************************** Responding to the owner: The representative did not offer to come back initially. In our email conversation, I even referenced your company's own policy to show that this should have been covered as part of the in-between service. However, the customer service representative kept denying responsibility and refused to acknowledge what the policy clearly states. At that point, I was already extremely frustrated and disappointed with how the situation was handled, which is why I decided to cancel the pest control service altogether. Go elsewhere, paid their $55 inspection fee for nothing. We called because we heard something crawling around our attic. Guy comes out pokes around in attic for a few minutes then walks around outside, says I don't see anything. Well we kept hearing the noise in our attic, so called Research Pest Control and their guy says I found 2 spots before we even answered the door, one was right outside our front door, They sealed us up, removed 2 squirrels and were great to work with. I had been using another local pest control company for over 10 years, but over the last 8 months, I noticed a significant drop in their quality. When I called between quarterly visits complaining of live scorpions and bugs, they would just move up my quarterlies so I ended up paying more. Even after paying for these treatments and dusting the attic multiple times, I still saw scorpions in our bathroom and living room and spiders everywhere. Eventually, I gave up on them and found Magic Pest & Lawn. I'm so glad I switched to Magic Pest & Lawn. My technician, Dave H, is excellent! He was very thorough, spraying and dusting everywhere. I really appreciated that he warned me I might see an influx of scorpions over the next 48 hours after the initial treatment, which I did--but they were all dead. From the time between the initial and second treatments, I only saw one live scorpion for which they sent someone out to spray the problem area. I also haven't seen a single live bug inside the house, and summer in Texas is just wrapping up! Magic Pest & Lawn is a little pricier because of the add-ons, but if I never have to see a bug or scorpion inside the house again, it's worth it in my books. read more

Note- Magic Pest Uses Petroleum Based Chemicals!!! I have mixed feelings about magic pest and lawn. When our technician arrived he seemed distracted and was on a personal call. While he was here I began to smell a very strong smell not observed in our 2 previous treatments. I e-mailed the owner and he responded promptly and said they did not change their chemicals. He offered me a refund which was very nice of him. I requested the SD sheets for the chemicals and concentrate and had a friend who is a Chemist review them. The most important thing to note is these chemicals are petroleum based which means they stick around but they are in acceptable levels as long as the quantities are correct. Next time I will spring for the eco companies. read more

We had some wasp hives build up very big, very quickly under our overhang in a highly trafficked dog and human area. I contacted Magic Pest (we only use them), and Keri was very helpful at identifying the exact bee wasp yellow jacket flying stingy bug. She also looked at photos I texted her to confirm it was paper wasps and not bees (that you shouldn't remove). They had an opening same day (that can't always happen, but it's always quick anyway). Brent C. returned this time much to my dog's delight. :-) He took care of the hives. He also found another nest I didn't see. He let me know what to expect over the next few hours. The experience from calling and texting and actually getting an experienced human on the line like Keri to the professionalism and knowledge of the service people that come out, like Brent is the best fit for us. The owner was super responsive and let me know they could have someone out the next day. These guys are great because they don't lock you into a contract.
