Bad experience with Roberts Termite and Pest control. Rock, the owner, who I had never dealt with or talked to for as long as I was a customer, called one day and said they weren't "willing or able" to come out to spray for bugs other than quarterly. Their sales pitch to me in the beginning was they'd come out any time I had any bug issues. So I had needed them a couple of times during the quarter since I had just moved in and the house hadn't been lived in for at least 5 yrs. I would not recommend them to anyone. Their communication is terrible. They said they contacted me and we "discussed it several times"....uh, NO WE DID NOT. They may have talked amongst themselves in the office but NOBODY told me until I got that call from the owner from out of the blue and had no idea what he was talking about. I mean, isn't that what I'm paying for...for them to come out when there's a bug problem and spray for bugs???! There are plenty of pest control companies around, so don't bother with this one. read more

These guys really helped me out in a bind - it was the Friday before Labor Day weekend and I had guests coming to stay from out of town. During the afternoon I started smelling something terrible and realized a mouse had likely died in my air vents. My property management company was of course not picking up the phone because they're lazy and terrible but I had to get this problem fixed ahead of people arriving. I called Roberts at 4 pm and they managed to get someone out to investigate/help at 5:30 (the place I called first quoted me Tuesday afternoon). They placed those magic dead mouse odor eliminator bags and did not subject me to highway robbery for the last minute call - very reasonable bill - the mouse bags (which granted aren't super cheap but not ridiculous) were the priciest part of the visit, not the service call fee. Very grateful for this company and would 100% call again when I need a pest service. read more

Jerald came by and took a look at our fire ant issue, while he did not have the pellets with him as he came by right after another job, he came back within 30-min with the needed materials for the pest control. He dispersed the pellets and gave us instructions about how much time to pass before letting out dogs out. I was sexually harassed by one of their employees. This happened several months ago and I have yet to leave a review because I first wanted to make sure my safety wasn't at risk since this employee knows where I live. This employee made several inappropriate comments about my body, told me that he sleeps with a lot of his female clients (told me the stories in detail and used sexual explicit language) and insinuated that him and I do the same. He hugged me without my consent and asked for my number and asked if we could go out. I am a female living alone so I tried my best to be "nice" and try and get him out of my house. He stayed for over 3 hours and every time I told him he should probably go he'd say he'd just stay "a bit longer". He also asked me several times if I could turn my cameras off which of course I told him no. Thank god I have those cameras because I'm not sure what would have happened to me that night if I didn't have them. I reported all of this to the company the day after and they took no action that I know of. I never got an apology but only a reassurance that he wouldn't be servicing my house again?!? Yeah that's pretty obvious of course he won't be servicing my house again. I asked if someone else could come pick up the traps that this employee left here and the office manager had the audacity to say that there would be a charge for that. I told her there's no way I'm paying for them to come and get THEIR traps after their employee sexually harassed me. She ended up sending someone out to pick them up after I said that. I cannot believe how unprofessional it was all handled. If you are a single woman living alone DO NOT trust this company or pay for their services. They made it very clear with their actions that they do not value the safety or well-being of their customers. I wasn't even offered a refund which I believe is the bare minimum they could have done. If you end up using this company please take extra precautions to be safe and make sure you aren't home alone. I truly hope this doesn't happen to anyone else because it was a very traumatic experience for me that I still live with. read more

I can't express how much I'm disappointed and fed up with this whole bed bug situation. I used them twice before. The first time was done okay since I didn't have any bed bugs for about 4 1/2 months. But they came back. By then it was time to move, and unfortunately, the bugs moved with me. So I spend another $275 to have them come out and treat again!! Both times, I went out of my way to make sure that things were set up and ready. Hell, the second time, I even drained the waterbed somewhat so he could spray underneath the liner and bladder. Obviously, the technician didn't want to match my extra efforts in helping him out because the bed bugs were back THAT NIGHT!!! And the reasons for me were quite obvious. The first and foremost reason, as I said previously, was how rapidly the pests came back. That's completely unacceptable!!! Another thing that tipped me off to a lackluster job was that both times, my bedroom door was left wide open. That doesn't compute because the first treatment and its follow-up, I was instructed to keep the bedroom door closed in order for the treatment to be effective. The second set of treatments, this wasn't done. It was left wide open. So guess what? It was totally ineffective because the bugs didn't even abate for one single night!!!! As one might conclude, I haven't had a decent night's sleep since I moved into my new place six months ago!!! Thank you for not wanting to do your job properly. I just love dumpings hundreds of dollars down the drain for more frustration. Oh wait, but couldn't I get that with the same quantity for NO MONEY???? I think it would be logical. So unless you want to waste your precious, hard-earned money, and you don't want to feel like a good night's rest is only for the privilaged, I wouldn't go with these guys. Ray came out within the quoted 30 minute window and was quickly able to identify the termite situation. He is very knowledgeable! Felt the ease of dealing with Robert's was worth writing a fabulous review! We had been dealing with unwavering carpenter ants for probably a month, which after having a few other companies come out and quote us for services and try to sell us on other products, felt the process was too fussy and tried to treat on our own. Well that didn't work. So we found Robert's, who had quite a bit of information on carpenter ants on their website (leading me to believe they know what they are dealing with), and I called to see if they could come out. They had Ray come out the same afternoon, treat our whole perimeter for the ants + other critters, we paid, and were told to call back if we saw any more ants for the next 2 weeks. Boom done. No pressure for signing up for quarterly services, etc. Today: no ginormous trail of ants! I realize its still early, but I'm happy with my results so far. read more

I started off really liking this company but realized that they are all about commission and getting you to pay when you don't have bugs. I told the owner, Rock, that I didn't want to pay for monthly service in the winter because I didn't have bugs. He said, you have bugs, you just don't see them". I am sorry but who wants to pay to exterminate bugs when you can't see them! They are high pressure and don't really offer real solutions for your bug problems. I did find a great company that I am super happy with. Aztecpest.com is their website. Here is my review on yelp. I had a bad experience with another pest control company (Robert's pest control) so I went to Yelp to find another and found aztecpest.com. The reviews were very helpful and I am happy to say I had a similar experience. They were really professional and I do believe they conquered my scorpion problem! They did a really thorough job. The technician put screens on the weep holes, sprayed the attic, and sprayed the house. I haven't seen a scorpion since. There prices are beyond reasonable (including the 30 dollar trip charge to Buda). They also have a great guarantee. read more

I thought I saw a mouse in my pantry, and some other insects. So despite the rain , Mr. Roberts, came out because I was concerned mainly about a mouse, and I was going to use their service to set out some traps. But, when he looked in the pantry, it turned out to be a very old potato! I was relieved, and grateful that even though I didn't need his services at this time for rodent removal, and I'm going to go with a vendor recommended by my fiance for the bugs, I will definitely look for other opportunities to use this company, and pay them next time! The visit was a free estimate, but he really provided customer service. He also gave me container recommendations for storing items on the counter to reduce bugs.The company answered my BBB request, Mr. Robert's was courteous, kind, fast and thorough. I found Roberts Termites and the came quickly, told me the home did not have termites now nor traces in the past and the price was very resonable. Seems like this Austin company needs to get on board with eco-friendly, non-toxic pest prevention. They claim the toxic levels are concentrated enough to not hurt you, or at least this is what they believe. You were taught wrong my friends, help yourselves, change the business or get out before it's too late and you have cancer. Strong evidence exists for pesticide exposure including neurological, birth defects, fetal death and mental disorders. read more

I didn't end up hiring them because they were really honest and told me that I mostly just needed a carpenter to fix a couple spots since we had done previous pest control for our rodent issue. I just want to give a shout-out to Rock, the owner of Roberts Termite & Pest Control, and his staff. First off, they're consistent to follow up with us when it's time for our service (both our business & home) and second, they've never tried to "over-sell" something we don't need. They're always timely and efficient, even when we reschedule at the last minute (not that I recommend doing that!) They service a lot of our friends' homes in the Travis Country neighborhood, and everyone's been pleased. I lose track of time, but I think we've been with Roberts for over 25 years - that's how loyal we are! You'll be in good hands. (In the summer they sprayed our yard for mosquitoes ... and the smell was great - eucalyptus, maybe?) and we had fewer pesky mosquitoes for a while. read more

Two years ago we had a terrible problem with bed bugs. Awful experience. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy! After getting estimates as high as $2,500 I called Roberts Pest control. Nicest guy came out and sprayed about 3 times and charged $250. Supposedly the bugs (eggs) can live at lease a year with no water. So I have been waiting to see if they would come back. But no signs of them after two years so I feel very safe in saying they are gone! read more

I love that we had the same technician each visit (Robert) - he was courteous, professional, and really got to know our home and our pets over the years. When we moved into an 80 year old rental home in NW Austin, the roaches were unbelievable. Once Robert with Roberts began visiting every three months, we NEVER had another problem for four years. One winter I made a comment to Robert on his regular technician call that I had seen a rat running along the fence at the back of our house and he gave me materials right out of his truck to help with the problem. The administrative staff is always amazingly kind and seem genuinely interested when I phone. I was a little disappointed at first. He inspected the outside and found no sign of termites (yeah), but to treat the moths, just put a sticky box that he said would catch the moths and to check my pantry for grains that could be infected, I thought "that's all?" But I cleaned the pantry and a week later checked the box. It was full of dead moths! I will call this company again if I have a bug problem. I'm glad I waited to post this review. Robert Pest Control, on Lamar, South Austin treatment in 2005. Why is termite treatment is so expensive? Treatment is a one time spray $1000 and you have to pay $100 per year for visual inspection for 10-years for warranty. Total $2000 for 10-year protection. I didn't have bugs but was proactive in wanting treatment .They sprayed Termidor chemical around the perimeter of my home once, that's all that is needed. I just found out to treat my home the chemicals cost $200 and last 10-years. I believe the spider body was planted. * To do the yearly inspection they called me the hot month of summer each year and I had to cut down my ivy and plants by end of month to reveal foundation so they can do the 15-minute walk around visual inspection of my house to keep up my warranty. * When I found termite infestation in rotted wood at base of the 2 support post on my pergola, (other side is attached to house) they dismissed it saying the termites are not there now and it is an old infestation so it is not covered in warranty and no re-treatment offered. They probably neglected to spray theses post. Termites when exposed to sun will leave or go deeper into wood. I suppose I should have got a super powerful saw, cut the thick support posts open to show termites but then the pergola would fall on me. Seems to prove a fresh infestation would be difficult. Perhaps this is how pest control business all operate and make big profits. read more
