Well, the location can't be beat, especially at sunset when you can stroll over still wet and sandy for a sit down meal and witness the stunning sunset from your table. We didn't feel like dressing and sitting down at the more elegant (and super pricey) Longhi's on the hotel property, so this was our only real dining option. Expectations weren't high for what is essentially bar food. But, the service was wonderful and attentive. Tropical Drinks were a bit blah, but I heard the bartender explaining making his own concoction that sounded much better. The wine poor was disappointedly not generous. So, onto the food... If you like tuna, get the Ahi melt. It was packed with lots of delicious fish and sauce and melty goodness and was amazing. The wagu burger was also juicy and tasty so these are our top picks here. If you like wings, like I do (I'm a wing SNOB, as some of you may know), this is the spot. Crispy and saucy and a good portion of lip smacking finger licking good buffalo or Asian spice. Based on our waiter's recommendation, I got the buffalo to go and they did not disappoint. Annoyed, however, that the default is Ranch and, because, we didn't ask for blue cheese, that's what I got - Ranch. Come on Longboards - blue cheese is default! UGH! Ranch with wings????....seriously?! On to kid meals. Not a lot of options. We would have liked a pasta, but the grilled cheese did the job for two of the kids with us and they loved the fries. Longboards is located at the Marriot at the beautiful Koolina. I was enjoying an afternoon at the lagoons so I decided to take a break from the sun and have a drink and something to eat so I decided to go to longboards since it was a short walk from where I was sunbathing. The ambience is laid back and casual outdoor dining. I sat at the bar since I was "solo" but there were small and larger tables available. Turnover is high as it is a tourist spot and you can tell that most people are there just to eat & go about their day in the beautiful lagoons. Service was good, the bartenders at the bar are friendly and made sure I was comfortable, they also had suggestions from the menu and also told me about their drinks that they offer. I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. My food came out fast upon ordering, only thing is I don't understand why they called out pesto chicken sandwich because it barely had any pesto and it tasted like a regular chicken sandwich. The sandwich wasn't horrible but I was expecting "pesto" as stated. Next time I will stick to the basic Cheeseburger! read more

I was thoroughly surprised at the quality of food at Longboards. Pre-COVID, I thought food here was "meh". Service has always been friendly though. If we happen to be at Lagoon 3 and get hungry. Takeaway or dine-in options are limited to Longhi's or Longboards. This time we decided to try out Longboards because of the recent relaxation of restrictions. This restaurant is located at the koolina resorts. There is oublic parking during the day but i arrived at night and the public parking was closed. So i pulled up to their valet area. They said its 3 hr free with $50 validation at the restaurant. I checked in and waited about 10 minutes to get seated. Theres a bar though where you can sit immediately if its open. The restaurant is right next to the lagoon so you get a pretty view of the ocean. I live in town so i don't usually come out this far. However, i was here a few months back and tried their ahi tuna melt and it was probably the best tuna melt ive had before. So i was craving a tuna melt and decided to drive 30 minutes out here to get my fix lol. Its an expensive restaurant but im not surprised considering its one of the few restaurants on the resort and made for tourists. I would recommend this place if you are craving a tuna melt because its the best one one ive had on the island. Or if you are visiting the lagoon. read more

Never knew this Longboards Bar existed! We frequent every other lagoon at Koolina minus Nai'a lagoon (lagoon 3). Located at the Marriott's Koolina Beach Club, anyone can order, not just hotel guests. They only accept card or room charge, no cash. Not hard to miss, they're sitting right up top a stairway and fronting the resort property. Catch sight of a collection of grass umbrellas and you are there. Customer service was excellent, drink was made and served quickly. I chose the key lime colada. Keke beach key lime liqueur, vanilla rum, pina colada, followed with whipped cream, graham cracker crumbs, and topped with a slice of lime. A classic key lime pie in a cup. Definitely a "dessert best consumed with a straw" moment! Will be back to try their other island inspired drinks for sure. read more

I can speak to the Fish and Chips. Looked great, and had great texture, but were tasteless. I was in the i'd try something' category. The food was delicious and we found the daily specials to be some of our favorites. Throughout our stay we ordered... Kalua Pork Nachos Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella salad Garlic Fries Frozen Mai Tai Ohana Chicken Tenders Platter Key Lime Colada Guava Lava Chinese Chicken Salad Teriyaki Beef Sandwich with Fries (special of that day) Poke Nachos Turkey Bacon Wrap with side salad (special of that day) Japanese Chicken Curry (katsu) Seafood Pasta Triple Pork Sandwich with Tots (special of that day) Piña Colada Do. Or Do Not. (frozen cocktail) Guava BBQ Pork Ribs Island Spiced Chicken Wings Chili Cheese Hot Dog over Rice with Mac Salad (special of that day) The chicken tenders were most disappointing as they're processed chicken meat rather than strips of chicken breast, but they were cooked well and tasted good. The fries were always crispy and tasty, the garlic fries were so good. We never tried the onion rings but everyone else's looked great so we really wanted to. The kalua pork nachos were so ono we got them twice. If we were staying longer we'd definitely get the guava pork ribs again and the Chinese chicken salad. The key lime colada was my favorite cocktail and the guava lava was a close second. One complaint would be not enough spicy options... entrees nor condiments. The chicken wings and ribs both have a pleasant medium heat. And they were able to give us some chili flake for the pasta. And we'll remember to ask for a side of rice with everything next time. Whether eating at the restaurant, poolside or oceanside in a cabana, the quality and service was always top notch. Good portion sizes also. Can't wait to come back. read more

I walked up to order lunch. The digital (?) menu board didn't say they have fish and chips but I asked if they could make it. I was told it would take 15 minutes but it didn't take that long. I was impressed with the portion. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The batter was also crispy and the fish was very hot. However, one piece of fish was not cooked all the way through. I brought this piece of fish back to Longboards, hoping to get a new one but was also worried about time as I had to leave for the airport. Michelle, who helped me, was very nice and accommodating. When she saw the fish, she apologized and asked me to throw it out. She said she could put in a rush order for another piece of fish but I told her I was nervous about waiting 15-20 minutes. They seemed very busy so I asked for a partial refund (instead of another piece of fish). She offered to comp my entire meal! I didn't have my credit card on me or the receipt, but she took down my phone number and said she would call me after it was taken care of. She was so nice and despite the uncooked fish, I would go back to Longboards for the hospitality alone. Kindness goes a long way! read more

It seems that almost every poolside shack at every Marriott resort I've been too is roughly the same. Overpriced and mostly junky, unappetizing food. The pork quesadilla was okay. The veggie burrito was not good. The burger was not good at all. And the chicken tenders were fast food quality at best... but then again... I ate chicken tenders and fries at the on-site marketplace and they were even worse. The fries there were a travesty. This whole resort is very disappointing when it comes to food choices. Marriott, you can do better. Quit sacrificing quality of food to make an extra buck. That being said, service was fine. read more

Honestly for a poolside bar, this one pales in comparison to Hawaii Calls at the Waikoloa Marriott. Much better smoothie offerings for the kids too. Seems to close rather early, too. I usually don't give 3 stars but here's why... the SERVICE. The last 3x we have been there consistently the service is so sloooow. Host stand usually busy so they are short with you then you get seated and your server will come when they are good and ready. Food is mediocre we have tried a lot of the items on the menu and it's all just been ehh. We have been with a group of 7 and just us it's always slow. The only time we have had good / great service was when we sat at the bar. I can't remember his name started with a D but local guy super cool and handles business. We sat down and had a nice late dinner. Our server was Melissa. Hands down the best server we had the whole trip. I highly suggest skip minas fish house and come here. The fish tacos were amazing and the service is much better. All the food was good. I couldn't get over how good my mojito was. Out of this world. Best ever and I have had a lot all over the world. Watched her during meal, she treated everyone like that and never smiled. Also, a young lady server working around the serenity pool from Longboard was having a miserable day and made it obvious. I was going to order a lunch meal at the pool but saw how she treated the folks next to use, who commented about her indifferent and pissy attitude. Longboards is right on the beach in the Marriott Ko Olina Resort, and we ate here on the first night we arrived. We shared Pork Ribs with guava BBQ sauce (which were really good); I had a salad with honey mustard dressing (that was larger than expected) and, for dinner, we ate a Fish Sandwich, a Kalua Pork Sandwich, and Fish and Chips. Fries were generously served all around with everything - in fact, they gave us too many fries, and couldn't finish them all. The food was generally good sandwich/salad fare (and the ribs were great) - perfect for an informal, open air beachside restaurant. However, the bill (before tip) for 3 of us was $137. Even though we did have cocktails too to celebrate our arrival, that's lot for drinks, sandwiches, lots of fries, and no dessert. We looked for other options for dinner during the rest of our stay. Note: we had to wait a half hour before being seated. Since there were empty tables, it was puzzling. It turned out to be their first day open since COVID shutdowns last year, so getting back to full speed and staffing may have been an issue. However, tables were suitably spaced, and COVID protocols seemed to be well followed. read more

One of my favorite things to do on the island is spending a day out at the Lagoons and then coming to Longboards for mai tais and food. It's the best way to pretend you're on vacation! The drinks are delicious and strong. I prefer the mai tais on the rocks but I guess they're known for their frozen version. Either way, even one will get you buzzed.
