First time here, great experience! The staff were really attentive and welcoming. Great ambiance and decor on the inside. We ordered 8 dishes and the food came out super fast within 15-20 minutes while the entire restaurant was full! All the dishes were great! These dishes are great for sharing like family style. 1) NAW TAWT : fried bamboo, love this dish, crispy and flavorful with the sauce. 2) YAM MAMUANG BORAN : Mango salad, I love that the mango was refreshing and Not sour at all. Some other Thai places I've tried, the mango is usually a bit sour because they're still raw. 3) NAEM KHAO TAWT : crispy rice with cured sausage : my favorite dish! Love the savory seasoning of the crispy rice and the raw sausage 4) TOM KHA GAI: chicken soup. Great taste! Love the broth. 5) BAMEE MU DANG: egg noodles with char siu, great dish for what it is but I wouldn't go out of my way for this dish. 6) BA BUEY KHLAK TI: crispy pork belly with curry. Love the pork belly and with crispy skin! Love the curry too but it was a little too salty, you have to eat this with rice. 7) TOM YUM HAENG SEN YAI: stir fry noodle: love the tom yum flavor, my favorite dish as well! 8) HOI SHAE NAM PLA: scallop, love this dish! Refreshing, great seasoning combo, scallop was fresh and soft

We had heard great things about this place and they are part of the Chase reserve Sapphire dining program so we decided we would have our celebration of our 25th anniversary here for dinner They actually had sent an email letting us know parking is pretty tight in the area so we decided to just rideshare here, it's a lot easier. They will open the front gate right at 5 PM on the nose, we had a 5 PM reservation. There was already a line forming for those arrivals. We had booked bar seating in the back room, which is a bit smaller than the front dining area, but cozy Carly was our server/bartender and she was extremely friendly and explained how everything worked. The menu was split into three portions, North, South and collaborations. They'll explain every addition detail to you if you like. As many had mentioned how good the mango salad is, we pretty much had to order that. I didn't realize it would have nice chunks of shrimp in it, that was a fantastic surprise. We also ordered the crab curry, and that was both of our favorite dishes.- it is served with a big bowl of sticky rice, Yum! The other dish we ordered was a noodle with pork, and those noodles were so creatively tasty. Very good. They don't have a set wine list, they have a QR code on the menu since their wines changed so often but most glasses were $15-$17 each they had a nice Sauvignon Blanc and my husband went for the Thai beer Lovely experience!

Lom Wong just delivered one of my favorite dinners in recent times. Our group of six chose reserved a patio table for their Arai Kodai meal, which meant the kitchen would serve us their recommended plates -- and it truly was the best way to enjoy the restaurant! We started with the creamy, coconut-infused Yam Mamuang Boran (green mango salad), and food came FAST from there. Some standouts for me included: - Ba Mee Moo Dang (BBQ pork egg noodles) - Pla Rad Prik Sam Rot (fried branzino) - Tom Kha Gai (coconut chicken soup) - Tom Yum Haeng Sen Yai (wide rice noodles) All of these had a beautiful balance of acidity, savoriness, spice, and herbs in one dish with tender meat. But everything together really hit well. For example, the bok choy was a light break between super savory curries and fried wings (HUGE fan of the marinade on these). I also enjoyed getting to share dishes I wouldn't normally order a la carte, like the Naw Tawt (fried bamboo). The staff members made sure to ask about allergies and spice tolerances and thoroughly explained each dish as it was served. We actually ended up paying slightly less than the estimated $55/person for 12 dishes (before drinks) -- and we realized we got an extra serving of the chicken wings at no charge. Arai Kodai is truly a phenomenal way to experience more of the best dishes on the menu! We were stuffed, and I would gladly return.

You've ruined me, Lom Wong! best Thai food I've ever had stateside...and in AZ?! I can see why they are James Beard award winners. This is a must-visit if you're in town. It's a in bit of random spot in town with not a lot of things around it except a hotel and hella Lime scooters - I arrived early before my 5pm reservation and was hoping to kill some time but oh well! Onto the food & menu: As the servers will explain to you - the menu is set up in the chef's hometowns/adopted towns, Indigenous thai folks then a final section of their riffs. You won't find pad see ew, pad thai or any standard curries...only in trippy ways that break your brain like: * in a cocktail: the panang bang bang which drinks like a spicy dirty martini that's unmistakably panang. So good. *in a dessert: in their Tom Kha creme brûlée which nails the savory and sweet with the classic lemongrass, galangal&makrut with coconut combo. The bamee mu dang (egg noodles with char siu, minced pork, bok choy, crispy wonton, beansprouts, house sauce) was a ratatouille moment for me & I can't stop thinking about it. I also marveled at the GAI TAWT WON PEN (Won Pen's fried chicken) - sooo crispy! I had leftovers the next day in the air fryer and it was still stunning. I also keep thinking about the bay scallop crudo - I seriously don't want crudo in ANY other way (HOI SHAE NAM PLA - scallop crudo in lime, chili, and fish sauce nam jim with garlic slices and mint). Sooo flavorful and umami. I need to figure out the recipe for this! Nothing was too spicy for me but I didn't ask for any extra heat. Please open in Michigan, Lom Wong! We need this type of regional thai cuisine done so beautifully!

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for some time now. We finally went this Sunday with another couple for the first time. Service here was amazing and the space has a great vibe that transports you to the other side of the world. Cocktails were great but it was the food that really stood out. We tried everything family style and our table of 4 got seven dishes. Everything was delicious and amazing. However there were several stars that everyone couldn't stop talking about. First the green mango salad was so delicious and a great way to kick off dinner. However everyone's favorite dish was the BA BUEY KHLAK TI - pork belly curry. That curry was to die for and I could drink it straight out of the bowl. My other favorite was the crab curry. Parking can be hard to find so we just parked in the pay lot behind the restaurant for $30 for 3 hours. I can't recommend this place enough. It's. A chance to try traditional Thai food that will blow your mind. I can't wait to go back!

I saw Lom Wang won the James Beard award for best chef last year and made it a point to stop by while in town. They are deserving of all the recognition - this was my favorite meal in Phoenix. I highly recommend making a reservation because they are quite busy! I came here with a large group - I believe parties of greater than five are required to do the chefs course, and I'm so glad this was the case. Our party of eight was brought roughly 15 dishes, all of which were excellent. The quantity of food was impressive and the service is fast - I barely had time to get photos. All the dishes are traditional northern Thai cuisine and many of which were new to me. However, the servers are great at explaining each dish. My favorite was the mango salad and seafood noodle (pictured).

Came here because I kept hearing locals hype this place up, and I will say the space itself is really cute with a fun story behind it and a super interesting menu. The decor is beautiful and the whole vibe feels very intentional. Service was also really good. Everyone was friendly and attentive, which made the experience better. For the food though, it was just okay to me. The curry was decent, but I wish it was thicker and had more depth of flavor. The crispy rice was way too salty for my taste and kind of overwhelming. I was also excited for the mango salad, thinking it would be like a papaya salad, but it was more like a seaweed salad with some mango, which threw me off a bit. I also ended with the ice cream sunday which was pretty good but i didnt taste the fish sauce. Overall, I can see why people like it, and it's definitely a nice place to check out, but for me the food didn't fully live up to the hype and felt a little mid.

Lom Wong On a Friday Night reservation at 8:45pm was still very busy Parking is very challenging to terrible. Ery unique restaurant spanning multiple old homes i would presume as we snaked through different rooms and finally to our table in the corner of what could have been a second home. I had been looking forward to visiting Lom Wong for sometime, we went one time before, drove around for 25-30 minutes and went home. Pad Pak Kwang Toong stir fried bok choy, tofu, garlic, thai chili Pla Rad Prik Sam Rot is a fried whole brandzino in three flavor sauce, garlic, cilantro, thai chili with fresh vegetables Bamee Mu Dang egg noodles with char siu, pinched pork, bok choy, crispy won ton, bean sprouts and house sauce. All these entrees were very good, the fried brandzino stood out and I enjoyed that one the most. There were other dishes, but I could not identify which the others were. Very good entrees, restaurant caters to the young crowd, but was good to give it a try.

I love good authentic Thai food, and I always have trouble finding Thai food that isn't just pad thai, pad see ew, or green curry. Those dishes are delicious but there is so much more delicious Thai food out there! This is one of the best Thai places I've been to. The other really good Thai food I've had was Wild Rose Northern Thai in Bend, Oregon! I feel like all the best Thai food is in the most random places. We had a party of 8 people and did the Arai Kodai where the chef "builds a meal" for you. How it works is that the server takes any dietary restrictions and dietary preferences, and then the chef puts together a meal that they think you would enjoy. To me it pretty much sounds like the Japanese Omakase which literally translates to "leave it to me (the chef)" where a often a sushi chef serves you the best fish and ingredients of that day. Or maybe you can think of it as a tasting menu where you just eat everything that is served to you without the need to select individual dishes. Regardless, I had a blast!! A larger group means more dishes to share!! Just like a dim sum. The servers know to provide enough of a dish so that everyone gets a taste. Every dish that came through tasted amazing! I also really enjoyed the festive music. I was from California and only in town for a weekend, but I would really consider visiting Phoenix again just to eat here again!! For drinks, I ordered the Panang Bang Bang because I was so curious about the curry vodka. The drink was surprisingly very clear considering it's supposed to contain coconut milk. It tasted exactly like curry vodka. The curry flavor came through very clearly and strongly. The drink is very smooth so it tastes like you're drinking vodka and not a thick curry.

Cute spot with a very creative menu concept. Menu has 3 sections that focuses on meals from different part of Thailand. I thought that was cool. They recommend 5-6 dishes for the full experience. We started with a nice drink, the lahm yong, very strong on the liquor but on the sweeter side with the hint of passion fruit. Really enjoyed it. For our courses we did KAENG PHET CHARINDA( with a more creamy milky curry base and spice!) very enjoyable although the beef tasted more like goat or lamb but not a problem for us. Next dish YAM MAMUANG BORAN( shocking how it looked like noodles and had a more tarte taste but for some reason I would get again). Paired well with the beef sauce over it. D TAWT WON PEN( fried chicken: crunchiest fried chicken ever but so good, best to eat right away. Comes with a thai sweet chilli sauce on the side. PLA RAD PRIK SAM ROT( whole fried branzino. Did not much care for the flavor on this and I could not dig into the fish head like I wanted lol. This is a good dish to go and pop in airfryer and enjoy at your own pace at home. BA BUEY KHLAKTI ( i just love come crispy pork but the sauce on this was not my favorite. The pork with the beef sauce would be chefs kiss. We received a good size serving of rice to go with the curry dishes. Overall enjoyed lom wong!

This place has been on my bucket list for awhile, FINALLY! Our party of 4 had an 6:45 Thursday evening reservation. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated. The vibe of the restaurant is really laid back with bar and patio seating. The restaurant was fairly full. Our server Joe introduced herself, very nice, very informative and knowledgeable about the dishes and cocktails. She had given us a rundown on how to order eating family style and how many dishes to order between the 4 of us which was suggested 7 and that we order all dishes at once. We ordered cocktails while looking over the menu. BTW the Kho Ping Khan (Gin and Vodka) Martini like drink was amazing. Dishes we ordered was the Mango Salad, Stir Fried Crab, Egg Noodles with Char Siu, Crispy Rice with Cured Pork Sausage, Tom Kha Gai Soup, Wide Rice Noodles with Squid, and the Mussels. All the dishes tasted amazing, the weakest one was the Tom Kha Gai. My only comment would be is, we ordered 7 dishes as recommended by Joe. Basically all 7 dishes came out at once, leaving no room on our tiny table for 4. Plus it made me feel rushed to eat faster, as you wanted to eat the hot dishes while they were still hot. I would of been happier of they brought out 4 dishes, let us finish at least 3 before sending out the next 3. Atmosphere: relaxed, the decor very nice. Service: excellent. Food: excellent.

Finally ticked Lom Wong off the list of restaurants I've been wanting to go to on NYE. A week or so before, I was able to grab a reservation for me & my husband. They have options on Open Table to book for the standard menu, Arai Kodai (chef led dinner experience), or the Mookata (grilled Thai BBQ). Upon arrival at 5pm when the restaurant opened, there was already a line but with reservations, everyone was seated quickly. Our server came by to greet us, and since it was our first time, we had reserved for the Arai Kodai. We were asked about any allergies/food preferences and spice level; the only thing I mentioned was that we didn't want any raw meat or fish ( which they were happy to accommodate) and that we were wanting a medium spice level. We ordered a Thai iced tea and ginger beer which came out quickly. The food started coming out soon after. First was the Yam Mamuang Boran (Green Mango Salad); this was our favorite dish of the night. The green mango was light and fresh with a nice subtle flavor; could've used a little more shrimp but it was delicious, would order this item again. Second was the Pad Kwang Toon (stir fried bok choy with tofu); I really liked this dish a lot. The bok choy was nice and crunchy and flavorful. I'm usually not a fan of tofu but I liked this tofu and would've eaten even more of it. This was the least spicy dish of the night, perfect for me since I eat less spicy food than my husband. Third was the Laap Mu Muang (ground pork salad); this dish was probably not one I'd pick, but it interesting with ground pork, cucumbers, chicharrones, and a side of sticky rice. The pork was seasoned nicely. We were told it had chili paste which gave it a nice kick. I would've liked some sort of sauce since there was no curry/broth, and it was served with rice. I'm sure this was the traditional preparation though. Last was the Ba Buey Khlak Ti (crispy pork belly curry); also another dish that I wouldn't pick, but the curry was really good, very creamy and tasty, one of the best ones I've had. It was on the heavier side with the pork belly but I would recommend trying this one out if you're a fan of pork belly, for sure! The service was good; we were seated in the back dining area by the bar. They were attentive and friendly. I will say there was a strong smell of incense which was a bit off putting; the table next to us did ask them to move it which helped some but it was still lingering. I would return here but would pick our own dishes, asking for recommendations on ones that aren't as spicy. My husband on the other hand loved not having to pick and would do it again, so I'd say the Arai Kodai is a great option for those who are open to trying anything and aren't picky!

Aaaamazing. I can see why they won a James Beard award. Upscale Thai restaurant in downtown Phoenix did not disappoint. They have unique dishes from the different regions of Thailand and their cocktails were unique too. I had the Karaoke King which is a tequila based drink. Delicious. Claire was the bartender and she is very knowledgeable and friendly. The Lemon fish crudo special was amazing. Has a nice kick to it and was so flavorful. I highly recommend this place

Ask the Community - Lom Wong

Are there entree options that not spicy?

Theirs is not overly spicy curry; it's actually pretty mild.

Are there gluten free options for people with celiac disease?

    Yes, there are many.

How busy does it get at 5-6pm on a Saturday?

Busyc but if you walk in at 5 on the dot we can usually seat you. If you want to be sure make a reservation.

What is the likelihood of being able to walk in on a Sunday night without a reservation?

It’s usually easy at 5PM. The dining room gets filled up, but bar and outside (misters) is easy this time of year. If you’re a party of 5 or more, reservations are highly recommended if you want to sit inside.

What should we wear? We are planning on being around town before hand, but don't want to offend wearing shorts if that is frowned upon.

Very casual space. I wouldn't worry about the dress code. The serving staff doesn't :)

Hello! Is the fried chicken dish gluten free?

    It contains gluten.

    Which dishes are dairy free?

All of them except Boo Pad Pong Garee and Crème Brûlée

Hello! I made a reservation for 1- is the $15 reservation fee refunded when I dine?

    Yes!

Do you have any vegetarian options?

Yes, there are non meat dishes.

Do they have vegetarian/vegan options on the menu?

The food was delicious, we loved the papaya salad so much, there were so many flavors of spicy and tangy, and the papaya itself was very refreshing. We had the Pad kee mao and Panang curry which were also delicious. For the chicken pad kee mao we requested it to be gluten free and they gave us the same rice noodles as the Pad Thai and a slightly different sauce which was so darn good! The chicken was very tender. When the Panang curry said it came with beef, I didn't know what to think but after a single bite I was a huge fan! So many flavors hit you at once and the beef was so incredible, it was falling part. Overall would definitely come back here, we were a walk in on a Saturday night and had an hour and a half wait to get in.

I feel like those are hard to get wrong but I was not a fan of the cream cheese that was used and it was a lot of it, barely any imitation crab. For entrees, I had the spicy basil and substituted ground chicken for chicken breast, my personal preference. I ordered level 2 spice but it was still a bit spicy for me. Trying a new Thai place is always hit or miss with spice levels so I actually thought I was being safe with 2. Additionally, the chicken was so bland. Some Thai places season their chicken, some do not and unfortunately Pad Thai Cafe missed that mark. My partner ordered the short rib curry dish and my goodness, it smelled like heaven and tasted just as good. I don't eat beef but had to taste it and it was divine! He also ordered spice level 2 and his dish was not as spicy as mine. Overall, the rest of the party enjoyed their food and there were good flavors there so I'd definitely recommend the entrees, not so much the starters.

While waiting for my takeout, the lady behind the counter was kind and offered water while I waited. Restaurant was empty around 5pm. All was clean and utensils were ready for guests. Food was excellent. *A week later, I ordered takeout via phone call for my second visit around 11:30am. Food pictures attached are from the second visit. We had extra spicy pad Thai with shrimp, medium heat yellow curry with chicken, and fresh shrimp rolls which came with peanut sauce. This visit was ordered from the lunch menu which was a bit smaller in portion from my first visit. When I picked up the food, the restaurant was packed with dine in, but was still able to pay and leave within 5 mins since my food was ready. Food was excellent and spice levels for each dish were spot on.

This was our first time having Thai hot and sour soup, which we added tofu. It was quite good, but very different from Chinese hot and sour soup. This soup had a stronger herbal flavor, which compliments the tofu and mushrooms. We also had the pineapple fried rice with pork and it was our favorite. I loved the cashews and raisins which were unexpected. The orange chicken was good. We ordered mild, but would like to try medium next time - it needs the zip. Lastly, we had Drunken Noodles with beef. I would have liked to have seen a little more sauce as the noodles were really stuck together. Overall, the food was good and certainly plentiful!
