Knowing that I would have a long drive back to San Diego ahead of me after a trip to Disneyland, I needed to get some caffeine coursing through my veins. Not wanting the jitters of a Red Bull, I decided to track down some boba. I wasn't familiar with the area but there was nothing but Asian shops in the center so I knew that there must be a place nearby that served some mill tea. I only had to walk outside and around the corner to find what I was looking for...a quaint little Lollicup. I ordered a large almond milk tea for the ride home and it was delivered lickity split. The boba was pretty good and had just the right consistency and had the faintest coffee flavor. The tea itself wasn't anything special, but it definitely did the trick of keeping me alert on the road home. It seems like you can find a boba shop on just about every corner these days, but not all of them are created equally. Besides the overpriced stuff at Tea Station, most of the milk teas are pretty much the same. The boba itself is sort of hit and miss and it's really hard to find something really consistent. Being that this was my first, and probably only, visit to this location, I was pretty happy with my boba and would definitely recommend it to anybody that goes to UCI. And now, I'm kicking myself. *Pretty good crowd, fast service *$10 min charge for credit but .49cents for debit card charge under $10 *No aloe at this location only jelly The taro slush itself was alright. It was missing the fragrance I find from iTea or 85's taro slush. Boyfriend got the peach tea with mango jelly. He HATED the consistency of the jelly but I loved it! He said it tasted artificial and that I needed to try TapEx. But plus side, I usually don't like peach tea whatsoever but it was decent tasting at Lollicup's. Living in the Irvine/Lake Forest area, Lollicup has always been my favorite place to get Asian milk tea and boba drinks. Even their slushies like the mango one is very tasty. It's just with so many Boba places in Irvine it sometimes becomes hard to remember where to go because a new one pops up every so often. Their milk tea has always been consistently good. Just remember this place accepts cash and debit cards. For purchase on debit cards I think there is a small charge. There is little seating on the inside but there's a lot more seating outside. It gets pretty packed here late at night or during certain hours so keep that in mind. Parking is another challenge here during peak lunch and dinner hours. read more

Whenever I'm feeling boba, this would be the first place that comes in to mind. They have all the essentials (popcorn chicken, egg pudding etc.) so I don't have to fuss around and confuse myself with these new-age boba trends (like who puts cheese in their boba??) Top picks: - Royal Milk Tea (w/ egg puddin ofc) - Can't go wrong with any of their "Snow" bubble drinks (just imagine smoothie, but with tapioca pearls) - And their Popcorn Chicken (extra, extra, hella HELLA spicy; like getting-stuck-in-the-back-of-your-throat spicy) I mean, if it's been around for almost 20 years, it's gotta be good right? Lollicup is like the McDonald's of the boba world. It's not the best. But when I have a craving for some of the powder/syrup-based drinks from my childhood, I think of Lollicup. This Lollicup location has been a fixture in my life since I was a little kid when my mom would order me volcano or honeydew slushes after Kumon sessions. I've been hitting up this Lollicup location a lot more frequently lately for late-night cravings and for the fact that they finally accept credit card purchases with no minimum. To be honest, their milk tea is trash. There's a reason why they can get away with selling regular sizes for $1 each when you buy in bulk. If you went to/do go to high school in Irvine, you've either bought from or fundraised using bulk milk tea orders from Lollicup. Artificial tasting and still made from powder after all this time. Boba: Rides the fine line between plastic and mush. I don't know how they do it, but their boba sometimes reminds me to Elmer's glue in taste. It's not overcooked to the point where the boba will stick together, but it is most definitely gummy and sweetened by simple syrup. Not brown sugar like so many other boba places have started to do. My go-to drinks: Royal milk tea slushes are good and green apple slush whenever I get an artificial candy taste craving. For non-milk tea or non-slush tea, I get peach black tea. Lollichicken (lol they just call it Popcorn chicken now): Decent. Not soggy, but not crispy either. I don't think their spice levels are actually that spicy. Be sure to get it in a combo with a drink for the best money value. Location: Surprisingly, they are able to squeeze so much seating in a small space. But, the interior is still cramped and can be really loud if you come near dinnertime or after school. Parking is a nightmare on the weekends. Overall: Will always be my guilty pleasure boba shop. I'm actually impressed they've held their own despite being in the same plaza as 7Leaves and Sunmerry Bakery (with Happy Lemon inside). The menu has been redesigned to show tons of flavor and tea options, so I think the staff can be very accommodating if you want to try different syrup and powder flavor combos. read more

They have remodeled and reinvented but not all of it is good. I came here for over 10 years and loved it even though the boba wasn't always cooked all the way. But now along with the cosmetic changes they have changed ingredients and also changed the packaging so it doesn't even look like it's from a lollicuo anymore. You can taste the difference, the teas and sweetness taste fake and cheap which is so sad but the slushies are good and have good options like the blueberry lemonade. The only reason I go here now is not for the boba but for the potatoes as they've added so many flavors and the Maui Onion is to die for. Unfortunately the snacks and cool modern appearance isn't enough for me to get past not being able to get good boba or tea which is why I would give them 2.5 starts instead of 1 because it isn't a good boba place but it's good for everything else. read more

When i brought it back, they placed my drink in a new cup and MADE A FRESH BATCH TO TOP IT OFF. This was NOT expected, but wow, I was impressed. Food: I've got their chicken and potatoes before. The chicken is delicious. The potato spiral to me isn't worth the price. I usually order the Mo-cha Green tea slush. They said they only sell a matcha green tea slush and that on the menu they called it Mo-cha. I have no clue why they called it that. Either way, it's delicious. I am no longer a fan of Lollicup. We had these on the east coast where I went to college. I used to love Lollicup for their fruit slushes and the add-ons like boba, lychee, or grass jelly. The fruit slush tasted refreshing and the fruit was fresh. This has not been the case the last few times I visited a Lollicup in SoCal. This is a chain and they've become the McDonalds of Boba Tea. I guess that is why you seldom see McD's in SoCal. Why would you go there when there are same-price or lower-price options everywhere that are of higher quality? My last drink was my usual Strawberry Slush with Lychee. I had so little lychee in my drink that I thought maybe they forgot it. The portion was tiny and the size of the lychee bits were appalling small. The strawberry slush just tasted like sugary water. I was pretty disappointed because I used to love this drink. SoCal has so many other boba and juice stores. You're better off just taking a few steps to one of the many other bubble tea, tea/coffee places around. There's bound to be another within a mile or less because they are almost everywhere. read more

I came here with another person to pick up for ourselves and a few more people. I ended up getting the mango green tea which was pretty good. Like other Lollicups there was a large variety on the menu and everything was very cheap. They also had food items if you are hungry. The people working were patient and very nice. The inside of this location is a good size with plenty of tables. However, I wouldn't want to study or work here because it was very noisy. I've been to this Lollicup location a few times and it's pretty decent. Every time I've gone it's always been SUPER packed. Most, if not all of the people that go here are teens/college age kids. A lot of the time there are people standing right outside smoking up a storm. The inside of the place is rather small and sometimes it's difficult finding a place to sit. It's not the cleanest but I think it's because they're so busy that they don't always have time to clean up the place. The music inside is also rather loud and sometimes you have to yell or talk really loudly to whoever you're there with. The drinks and food are certainly good. If I were going there I'd prefer to just order my food/drinks, and then leave as soon as they're ready. Not really a place I'd want to stay for a long time, just because of all of the hustle and bustle and how loud it can get in there. read more

My mistake for having faith in a tea spot open late near a jc/ uci. I used to frequent this place but have since (a) grown up, (b) learned what good tea tastes like, and (c) lost all patience for immature kids trying to act cool. This place has really hit the shit hole and procreated little shit children in the form of boba. Poorly managed, poorly designed.. You have the "i'm cool cuz i smoke and wear tight pants to show i have no penis" crowd outside by the door blocking the one entrance.. sometimes interchanged with the "i pretend i'm a thug but my mom still scrubs the shit stains out of my underwear" also smoking by the door.. then the "i'm high maintenance and wear more makeup than a drag queen on a pride float" girls texting on their cellphones inside blocking what little space there is within the joint.. and the "i'm a dork but i'm cool cuz i brought my other dork friends with me - power in numbers -- hoorah" group. Basically, be prepared to hit a wave of mismatched, mangled group of pre-pubescent children... The workers.. don't even get me started.. couldn't be dumber than the crowd it brings.. There's a good selection of drinks and it used to be good... but a mix of my distaste for the crowd this business draws + the drinks themselves -- I regret stopping by today. It's not worth your buck. Honey milk tea basically tasted like milk powder and water with a shit load of sugar. The floors were ridiculously sticky.. apparently having a good clean efficient business is a distant thought here. The poor solo mexican man cooking in the back.. I used to complain about Peet's chalky matcha but this is so bad it could not even pass as green tea, let alone matcha (-) Coffee milk tea hardly had any trace of coffee; it was more like a diluted coffee creamer (-) The wait took forever, and their workflow is disorganized--they called several numbers ahead of me before they got around to start making mine (-) Prices are not shown on the menu, except that large size is +50 cents (-) Turned out to be very pricey at $3.50 for a small [THE (very very slight) REDEMPTION] (+) They said goodbye/thank you to me as I left--if I had been working here I would have been so embarrassed about the poor quality drinks I would be burying my head in shame (+) The patio area outside looks nice and it's facing a pond. Before the yogurt craze, before the food truck craze there was the boba craze and lately I am starting to get back into it. I have always loved boba but recently I have discovered milk pudding. MMMMMM!!! puddin'... This may not be new to you but to me a whole new drink and it's so good. You get the almond milk tea with the milk pudding. You won't go wrong. The last time I got the new "Twist Potato" in medium heat. It is really good, like chip and a french fry in one. BUT, holy cow medium is HOT! Next time I'll get the mild. And the boba was a home run. I've been to this location few times in the past and I would say most of the times the quality was above average. Today was exceptionally good for some reason. The boba today tasted real fresh and the MT just hit the spot I think if are down in the south OC area make sure you visit this place. I asked for a drink with no ice and THEY FILLED THE CUP TO THE BRIM which is a huge plus for me! :D The other day when I came the cashier actually asked each customer if they had a stamp card/offered stamp cards to people who didn't already have one and I thought that was really nice and considerate of him (yeah I know stamp cards are just marketing ploys to get people to come back but still, to me its a win-win situation for both sides. And lets be real, who wouldn't want a stamp card??). This store can be a little difficult to find since its located towards the back of plaza area (as in you won't be able to see it from the parking lot). There's a decent sized seating area inside the place itself unlike the Lollicup at DJ. This location also sells actual food (like popcorn chicken and the long swirly potato on a stick) which is pretty neat. I've never tried the food here though because I usually just come here after I've eaten somewhere else (usually I come after having food at A&J which is in the same general are hehe). Their drinks are decent. Personally Lollicup isn't typically my first choice for boba but I don't mind coming every once in a while with friends. I usually get the honey green milk tea with boba. Their boba is delightfully chewy but not quite as sweet as I wish it were. This location also has a great taste in music :) read more

I haven't had boba from the Lollicup franchise ever since 2nd or 3rd year of college. There was a Lollicup shop in my neighborhood when I was younger and had always gone to that location until it shut down. After my experience with the Lollicup boba shop near my university, I actually did not like the quality of their drinks which is why I said I haven't had boba from Lollicup franchise. However, when I came to visit the plaza last weekend with my friend and came across this Lollicup boba shop, I told my friend, "I want boba from Lollicup. It is my childhood!" I think my friend judged me a little because she and I both know that we had bad experience with the boba shop at the other location in Riverside. Anyways, I ordered a Boba Milk Tea regular size, with no adjustments in ice and sweetness. Luckily, they use a non-dairy creamer in their milk teas. Once I got my drink and took a sip, I got flashbacks of my childhood. The drink that they made for me really reminded of my childhood when I got the same drink from the Lollicup boba shop near home. Anyways, I would say that the BMT is really delicious. The milk tea is a little on the sweet side, but if you let the ice melt it would dilute the sweetness of the milk tea just at the right amount. The boba pearls, on the other hand, was just okay. I think it is a bit too soft but still a little chewy, so its not too bad. I will definitely come back here again and order the same drink as it brings me back so much memory and there are no Lollicup around my city. Yuck. This Lollicup is a complete joke, just like most of them are. Keep in mind that I'm a tea snob, so of course...I'm not a fan of Tapex, Lollicup, and the like. Basically, I only like tea drinks that are actually made from TEA...what a concept! Sadly, this location admitted to me that they use powder on almost all of their drinks or cheap half & half. I got the milk tea here with egg pudding, which actually tasted halfway decent...right up until the point it made me SUPER sick.
