Really nice meal. Three of us started with the spicy/sweet red pepper dip with a warm, buttery pita. Then we split the citrus salad, with grapefruit, bitter greens, and sweet toasted nuts. I think a three-way split gave us each the perfect amount. Then for our entree, we each ordered a different kabab. The salmon was very tender, nice mild taste. The location is convenient if you're in the downtown area. We didn't have a reservation for this date night, but they were able to seat us at the bar. Great and friendly staff. We parked a bit away, but I'm sure if you're diligent enough, you could find street parking nearby or find a car park nearby. The ambiance was nice. The bar had a tv in the corner, which you couldn't hear. I recall music playing but it wasn't loud enough that we had to yell to talk to the person you're dining with. The indigo fizz was really good. Not strong overlapping flavors. The lavender wasn't overwhelming like at some places. It sorta reminded me about fruity pebbles. The lamb wasn't my favorite. It was slightly dry and I thought the sauce could have had a little more of a stronger taste because it didn't add too much to it. I did enjoy the halibut though. The asparagus was also really good. Charred well but didn't taste burnt. I think the spread was our favorite. I really wanted to eat more of that but didn't want to fill up on it before the rest of the food came. This place is always busy. Last time we tried, it was over an hour wait. This time, my wife and I went and instead of waiting for a table, we were offered to sit by the bar which had no wait. Of course we went for the bar as we didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a table. I got the Greek scramble and my wife got the duroc pork kebabs. The scramble was good but the slice of bread was too hard. It felt like it was going to cut my upper inner mouth. I had to rip it and dip a little into my coffee. My wife's food was better. The pork was tender, the smash potatoe hash was also softer than the ones I had. Maybe I had the end results of the smash hash as mine were extra crispy. The server/bartender was excellent. I recently went for a girls' brunch with three friends, and I ordered the Washington Chicken Kebab with a latte. The kebab was packed with flavor and very satisfying. I chose to have it with half a salad and half grilled potatoes. While the potatoes didn't look particularly appetizing, their flavor was spot on. The pita was also delicious--slightly different from what I expected, but in a good way. Overall, the flavors worked really well together, and I enjoyed the meal. NOTE: I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends, as the wait can be 1-2 hours. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is due to the service. We had to wait 15-20 minutes past our reservation time, even though the waiter had confirmed we'd be seated within 2-5 minutes. Additionally, the waiter seemed a bit frustrated or maybe just having a rough day. When we asked to go Dutch, she split the bill evenly, but one of our cards was accidentally charged $100, thankfully, the refund was processed promptly. My friends and I came to Lola for lunch today. It was a Lola day for me because before coming to the restaurant I did a dog walking gig with a dog named Lola. I liked the kind of classy yet lively vibe in the restaurant and how they have a bunch of seats next to the window. I got the salmon kebab dish that comes with yogurt sauce, crunchy smashed potato, pita, and salad. For $24 it was a generous portion just enough to make me full and not too much. You could choose the side option of the potato or the salad, but it was also nice that I can do half & half - the half salad portion was pretty big and it was great to have that much of salad with the salmon kebab. If I were to come to Lola again, I would like to try the octopus hash, which was on the brunch menu - by the time we were there, brunch hour was over so I had to pick something from the lunch menu. Boasting a beautiful space on a street corner in the upscale Seattle neighborhood of Belltown, Lola is a Tom-Douglas-owned restaurant serving Mediterranean-style fare with Pacific Northwest ingredients. The exterior is sleek and modern, with large windows displaying a laid-back, warm interior with a cozy ambiance, rustic booths, and an industrial-chic vibe, complete with a hardwood bar and red accent lights. My party of four made a reservation for 7pm on a Saturday night about two weeks in advance, and when we arrived the restaurant was about 3/4 full. We were immediately led to our table, which was an expansive booth with ample space on both sides. Our server was incredibly kind and walked us through the menu, which has spreads, mezzes (appetizers), kebabs, entrees, and desserts (they also apparently have a great brunch/lunch menu - I've been told to try their Octopus Hash). We started with their Lola Spreads with freshly griddled pita - it's $6 for one or $34 for all si. We were served two small bowls of pita, which was soft, pillowy, and delicious, coated with a bit of garlicky oil. The tzatziki was creamy and light, as it's yogurt-based with cucumber, whereas the cauliflower-anchovy was a bit sharper on the tongue, with a salty/briny flavor. The roasted sweet red pepper spread was perfectly smoky, but we found it thin and underseasoned. The kalamata olive and fig spread was quite salty, and had an unique textural component from the figs. The blue cheese feta-kopanisti was rich and acidic, and lastly, the smoky eggplant was reminiscent of a baba ganoush, and had a wonderful, slightly grainy texture complementing the otherwise smoky, creamy mild flavor. All in all, it was great to get to sample all six spreads, but we found $34 to be a steep price to pay for 6 small cups of sauce and what seemed to be 2 pitas sliced into small pieces. Since two members of my party weren't very hungry, they shared the Bristol Bay Sockeye Salmon Kebabs ($22), which came with 3 2-oz skewers of salmon with an herb-caper relish atop a sizzling skillet with onions and ouzo. The skillet was quite a showy display, as it emitted a plume of smoke as it arrived at our table. The salmon, while being a small portion, was flaky and rich, with a melt-in-your-mouth flavor, and you could taste the high quality of the fish. The onions and ouzo also added a nice pungent acidity to the dish. Another member of my party with a larger appetite ordered the Hangar Steak ($39), which comes with hawaij spiced hangar steak, caramelized onion hummus, and hedgehog mushrooms. The steak was generously portioned (around 8oz), and cooked to a perfect medium rare - it was tender and flavorful, as the best hanger steak usually is, and the caramelized onion hummus lent a sweet grainy texture. The hedgehog mushrooms were lost in the dish, and we found ourselves wanting a more acidic component to combat the richness of the steak and hummus, but luckily enough, we had some of the spreads left over, and the roasted sweet red pepper spread paired perfectly with the dish! He also ordered the Rosemary Fries ($10), which are thick-cut fries served with harissa ketchup and pepperoncini aioli. The fries, while perfectly cooked, lacked rosemary flavor, and the ketchup didn't taste of harissa - however, the pepperoncini aioli was flavorful and rich, and we still had plenty of spreads left over for dipping. Lastly, I ordered the Slow Roasted Leg of Lamb ($42), which came with preserved lemon, parsley salad, and lamb jus. This really was a large portion of lamb leg (at least 10oz), which was tender, decadent, and melt-in-your-mouth juicy. Some parts were a bit too fatty, but I happily ate them anyways - the lamb jus wasn't overly concentrated and added a nice brothiness to the dish, and the preserved lemon curbed the richness from the lamb. However, a note about the "parsley salad" - this wasn't really a "salad", and more a sprinkling of parsley leaves over the plate. he entrees here aren't really paired with a side if you order a protein, so you'll have to order an additional separate side if you want any sort of real vegetable. Lastly, we ended the night with their Made-to-Order Doughnuts ($14), which come with 6 expertly-fried beignet-like doughnuts served piping-hot in a paper bag with their sister bakery Dahlia Bakery's jam as well as vanilla mascarpone on the side. Since it was my birthday, they also put some candles on the plate! The doughnuts are quite small, but pillowy-soft and not overly sweet, dusted with a sprinkling of sugar. The jam is the perfect combination of sweet and acidic, with whole blueberries, and the vanilla mascarpone cream is rich and creamy. Overall, our dinner at Lola was flavorful and delicious, albeit a bit pricey (especially since the entrees don't come with substantial pairings for the proteins), the atmosphere was warm and intimate, and service was kind and inviting - we'll certainly be back to try their brunch! read more

On a recent weekend getaway to Seattle, on our first morning in town, my husband and I made our way to Lola for breakfast. We took a morning flight in and after dropping our bags at our hotel, walked over to Lola. After a short, wait, we were seated and promptly and warmly greeted by our waitress. To start, we both ordered a cup of coffee and decided to share the freshly made donuts. These donuts were absolutely out of this world with the most delicious homemade blueberry compote and vanilla mascarpone cream. Most people end their meal with the donuts, but I would highly recommend starting your meal with them. After savoring the donuts with our coffee, we moved onto the main course. I decided to try their omelette that was on special - goat cheese with oyster mushrooms. The omelette was delicious. My husband was a little bit more adventurous, and decided to try an octopus dish. The flavor profile and combination of his meal was absolutely wild, but I thoroughly enjoyed the few bites he shared with me. The octopus is extremely tender and meaty and the vegetables are fresh and light. It's the perfect thing to eat for breakfast because it doesn't make you feel too heavy. Banging! Lola is a Seattle staple, and one of my personal favorite restaurants, especially for brunch. Lola has always had a special place in my heart, as I come here with my Lola (grandmother in Tagolog). When you first step foot into Lola, you are met with a smell that brings you back to your childhood. I always get the eggs Benedict to start, and the first bite into the creamy houlondiase sauce and rich ham paired with a slightly salty egg yolk is unmatched. It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth that you just can't get enough of. Each bite is so delicious! I often pair this with their crushed rosemary potatoes. And my lord, they are good! Crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside, these potatoes are some of the best in town. Pair it with a side of ketchup and you have the best glorified French fries! Of course, you can't leave Lola without their famous doughnuts. Brought to you hot in a paper bag and shaken in front of you with sugar, these doughnuts are a full experience!
