I recently visited Loch Bar in Baltimore and had a fantastic experience. The location is situated along the water with both indoor and outdoor seating options. I imagine the the outdoor seating is particularly enjoyable when the weather is nice, offering a beautiful view and a pleasant atmosphere. For my meal, I ordered the crabcake with hush puppies as my side, which I upgraded for an additional four dollars. I also tried the frosé, one of their frozen alcoholic beverages, which was recommended to me. The frosé was so delicious that I would definitely get it again and highly recommend it to others. What I loved the most is that it still stayed flavorful and juicy as you sipped it and as it melted slightly. You weren't left with flavorless ice at the end like other restaurant. Instead the frosé was flavorful the whole time. Loch Bar has an vast seafood menu, ensuring there's plenty to choose from for seafood lovers. The bar area is well-stocked and adds to the overall lively ambiance of the place. Have been meaning to check out the Loch Bar for a while and finally had the chance at a recent business dinner. The seafood, especially the scallops and grilled salmon, was outstanding. A great selection of oysters and traditional Maryland crab soup too. A very lively bar scene and a stunning location. So why only 4 stars? The service, especially for an Atlas Restaurant Group place, left a little to be desired. The hostess seemed bored and our wait staff, while friendly, wasn't as knowledgeable or as sharp as I expected. Pretty solid food with a new view of the harbor. I mixed the 2 soups together as suggested and it was pretty tasty with nice clumps of crab in it. The lump crab grilled cheese was also solid with good flavor. Everyone seemed to like their drinks as well. The lobster Mac and cheese had nice chunks of lobster in it but the actual Mac was a bit watery and almost felt a little like velveeta tbh which is what's earning it a 4 instead of a 5 for me. I made a brief stop at Loch Bar on my way out of Baltimore to sample their crab cake. The space seemed very charming, located on the waterfront with an abundance of natural light. I found the crab cake to be well-seasoned, though a bit more moist than the one I had at Angie's Seafood, which had a drier texture. If I could combine the seasoning of Loch Bar's crab cake with the firmer, more cooked consistency of Angie's, I think that would result in the perfect crab cake. I had a pretty average experience at Loch Bar the other night. The food was phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. We had hush puppies, Parker house rolls, cream of crab soup, and crab grilled cheese. It was a great choice of food for a cold winter day, and the food could have easily just been heavy and cheesy but was all very well balanced. The food was all really beautiful too. Unfortunately the service was not what I expected for a high end restaurant. Our server was often at the other side of the restaurant having side conversations. The host spent a lot of time on the phone. We ended up waiting a while at points, and overall I just didn't think anyone was paying a lot of attention. The only exception was the bar staff, which were all amazing and very friendly. I'd like to come back in the summer and give Loch Bar another chance, and hopefully it was just an off day with service. read more

I want to share an experience I had today at Loch Bar in Baltimore that left me feeling humiliated, embarrassed, and honestly emotionally shaken. While waiting in line to be seated, I was standing behind another couple who were eventually seated by the host. After seating them, the host completely skipped over me and immediately assisted the group behind me as if I had not been standing there waiting. I approached him to ask why I had been bypassed, and his response was that he thought " i was with the couple he had just seated" me knowing typically because we were the same race. Instead of asking, am i ok, am i with them, do i need any assistance, etc.. That explanation made absolutely no sense and felt extremely offensive. The couple had clearly asked for seating for two people, not three, yet an assumption was made about me based solely on being the same race. Being publicly overlooked and then given that type of explanation was incredibly humiliating. I was left standing there feeling singled out, dismissed, and deeply uncomfortable in a space where I should have felt welcomed like any other paying customer. Experiences like this are not just minor misunderstandings. Being treated as if you are invisible or grouped with strangers simply because of your race can have a real emotional and psychological impact. In that moment I felt embarrassed, disrespected, and honestly triggered by the implication that I was not worthy of the same basic service and attention as the other guests around me. Several people witnessed the interaction, and the situation was extremely uncomfortable. No one should have to advocate to simply be acknowledged in a restaurant, and certainly not after being stereotyped or racially assumed to belong to someone else. Restaurants and businesses should be places where everyone feels respected, valued, and treated equally. Unfortunately, that was not my experience today at Loch Bar. I truly hope management takes situations like this seriously and provides staff with proper training on fairness, respect, and cultural awareness so that no one else has to experience this type of humiliation. read more

This is more of a 3.5 for food - but the cocktails are nice and the location is on the water. We had a food feast when we went. A friend of mine wanted to do a seafood tower to celebrate her new job, and the tower was fun because it's so extravagant and it costs $300 but I was expecting more height for what we got. I actually thought loch bar food is one of the better Atlas group restaurants in Baltimore. After the seafood tower I got the French onion soup, fries and sides to share. The Brussels sprouts were too sweet and the fries were stale. They're all fine nothing to write home about. The cocktail however was amazing, it's $20 and worth every penny. I forget the names but it's a delicious rye and earl gray drink. The service is fine, they do rush you a bit but I think there's always a lot of people there so it makes sense. Also for how "fancy" this place is the bathroom is always so disgusting. There was live music the night we went but the set up (lots so high pitch with amp connection) was very distracting. It's on the water so it's a good spot for drinks in the summer. I'd definitely come for cocktails again. read more

I was invited to a birthday brunch at this restaurant. This was my first time visiting. I always wanted to visit this restaurant. The restaurant is right off the waterfront with great views. We were seated at a large reserved table for the birthday guest. The restaurant was really clean upon arrival. I was able to find street parking a short block away near the water. The live music was definitely a huge plus for me as we were seated right next to him. He was able to sing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl as well as sing my requested Michael Jackson song (Yay). The restaurant has outdoor seating with a full bar and multiple TV's for entertainment. I ordered the cream of crab soup 8/10 really good. Salmon wrap was a bit too soggy and the fries were barely warm. The server had to reheat the fries but, they were still not good. There is a valet available for parking if needed. I will like to return for dinner but, the overall food was not the greatest. read more

After a harrowing travel experience from anytime Baltimore via Amtrak, we needed a romantic, delicious dinner. Based on the reviews here, I chose Loch Bar. I'm so glad I did! This was one of the best meals we've had in a long time because of the totality of the experience. Cheers! Despite the drizzle, then rain - we enjoyed the majority of our delightful repast outdoors by the water facing the cloudy sunset ....under one of their huge sunbrellas- held at the end by the personable manager, Keith(because of the windy rain starting while he was making a charming check in visit to our table) Our server, Isabella was amazing! Gave some great suggestions for wine and answered all of our questions about menu items. She was attentive without being intrusive; the check-in by the manager and Isabella's professionalism definitely elevated our dining experience to 5+ stars. I decided to have a glass of sparkling rosé- crisp, a bit sweet - perfect accompaniment to the selection of oysters and clams to start .... JT had a glass of Pinot with his steamed jumbo shrimp. The Brussels sprouts in siracha honey sauce were addicting! With them, I had the atlas salad with white balsamic vinaigrette and Lamb kebobs. Portions were generous for an appetizer - 3 sticks of chunky deliciousness; brought one home. JT had the same salad, and a fillet mignon with bordelaise and asparagus. The meat was perfectly grilled with a lovely topping of bleu cheese ... I enjoyed a few shared bites of course! We each had a second glass of wine- he changed to a cab for his meal; I enjoyed the sparkling rosé again. We had no room for dessert! Finished our wine indoors -music was still loud but we were relaxed and pleasantly full so enjoyed the total ambiance. The Atlas group of restaurants hopefully has the same culture across their other restaurants. We may try another at the Four Seasons this evening since it's steps away from our hotel... or maybe just return to LB- decisions decisions. read more

We wanted to go for a quick drink and we ended up here since we've been to Maximon before. We decided to sit outside and order our drinks. Minutes after our drinks arrived, my friend noticed a bug in her drink. She told the server and the server responded with, "We can't do anything about that. I can let the manager know, but he's not going to do anything." 100% rude. The least they could've done is made her a new drink! She used a spoon and took the bug out of her drink and still drank it. The most our server did was give her a new straw. We were getting hungry so decided to order the shoestring fries. I was excited for crispy, warm fries, but of course they were cold and soggy. I'm not sure why the server raved about them, but they did not live up to our expectations. We weren't the only ones hungry - the mosquitos were as well. I had a pressing need to use the bathroom when I arrived at Loch Bar, so immediately after I sat my things down at the bar, I went in search of a rest room. I located the ladies facility and went in...and gasped. The bathroom looked like a black hole with white TP all over the place. A closer inspection of the toilet seat told me I didn't even want to HOVER over the toilet. I promptly took myself over to the Four Seasons lobby and used the bathroom over there (so grateful it was close by!). When I returned, I was immediately approached by the bartender to order a drink. I asked for a minute to review the menu but was given MUCH MORE TIME than that. It felt like the bartender didn't come back for an hour. He was a pretty neglectful dude. I finally did order a beer and I drank it, but getting my tab and paying my bill took forever too...and it's not even like the place was crowded. It seems like a restaurant attached to a prestigious hotel would have better customer service AND cleaning routines. It's very unlikely I will return to try food here. read more

I always have a good experience when I am here. They have a wide selection of spirits and some are very unique and rare. People often miss the opportunity to sample the best of a particular category because they are too busy doing shots. The staff is always courteous and helpful. Even when it is busy, someone will check in with me. Since they are great about remembering what you are drinking, the busy times are that bad. We all need to be patience when there is a rush. Also the food is great. The menu is not loaded with the items because what they offer covers so much. Who needs another Cheesecake Factory book menu. And you can get variations on many things that they have. So be kind and they might share with you some of the hidden gems not on the page. So come by, sit down, and smile. You will have a great time and probably make some new friends read more

Unfortunately this one is a no go for me. I visited twice this week to confirm the first bad experience isn't a fluke, it's a design flaw. As an oyster bar, they do OK. A reasonable selection, but they don't do a great shucking job - lots of debris in the finished oysters. The real problem is the service. I have generally only witness such apathetic service on rare occasion at fast food joint. The bar and service staff do not understand hospitality, and do not care about customers. The staff was more interested in talking amongst themselves about how they want to quit than taking and fulfilling orders. Drinks and food are slow and you're sitting around after you're done waiting for the staff to come back and take your payment. This is where it really drops off - the mandatory 20% tip can't be changed and the terminal that takes your card automatically adds another 20% tip. So the staff is accustomed to getting a 40% tip for no effort - no wonder they wouldn't bother to offer even a modicum of service. For this incredibly manipulative, unethical, and poor business practice, this place deserves 1 star. Neither the food nor the service are a compelling reason to visit this place, plenty of other great places are right next door. Just walk right on by and get your food at a place that understands the restaurant industry. read more

My view of the best crab cake? Maximum fresh blue crab, minimum filler. Loch Bar - Jackpot! My wife and I looked forward to our visit to Baltimore to find fresh mussels and crab. Loch Bar fully succeeded with both. Let's start with the crab cakes (two large cakes per order, perfect for sharing). I've never had cakes that were virtually all crab. Seriously, how did they manage to sear and serve these without them falling apart? The WonderBra of crab cakes, there was no visible means of support. Just delicious bites of fresh, sweet, lightly fried blue crab. My wife and I agreed this was one of the best single dishes we've had in a very long time. We began our meal with the Moules-Frites; the fresh mussels were steamed and served in a white wine sauce. So good! We also had the Fish N' Chips. The fish was crunchy, thick, moist, tasty and yes, fresh. Did I say that my wife and I loved our meal? I'm still dreaming of these crab cakes. But one warning, Loch Bar is not inexpensive. This is a splurge. Loch Bar is part of the Four Seasons Hotel. Fresh crab cakes are pricey everywhere these days and Loch Bar, well, you're going to pay extra for the quality. My cousin and I found ourselves without plans on the Fourth of July and decided to pay Loch Bar a visit. Loch Bar is located in Harbor East and sits right near the water. We sat outside and I really enjoyed the views there! I ended up getting the bourbon slushies and my cousin got the frose. I ended up getting the Loch burger and it was delicious! It was cooked perfectly and I loved the fries that came with it as well. The manager stopped by to see how our experience was. He was very kind to us and genuinely cared about our experience. I would love to return for their happy hour. They seem to have some good items on the happy hour menu. Although I'm sure Loch Bar is good anytime of year, nothing quite beats being there on a warm day and sitting in their outside area. I'm looking forward to warmer days just to return there. We have been wanting to try Loche, so we decided to make reservations since we would be at The Kimmel Center for a show. Here's my takeaway: -Cute place -Nice staff -No earl grey or black tea? I finally got the chance to check out Loch Bar which has been on my list for months. I went in on a Friday around 4 and the place was absolutely dead which was surprising. I sat at the bar, and it took a while for me to be greeted or acknowledged. Once I was though, the bartender was very friendly and attentive. They have some great happy hour specials! I ordered the old bay fries and a cocktail, and my friend ordered the Caesar salad and a cocktail as well. She said the Caesar salad was one o fine best she's ever had in her life. The old bay fries didn't taste like they had old bay on them at all, but they were still very well seasoned and tasty. This place is a disaster on the waterfront. No ambiance at all. Cranking the AC on a cool damp night. And our service was beyond garbage. Initial drink orders delivered 1 at a time, with no follow up if we wanted another round. We decided to order a bottle of wine and had to remind the server when our dinner was served to bring out the damn bottle!! Steak knives were handed out 15 minutes AFTER our steaks were served.
