I normally love the place but left today crying with my 3 small children. Arrived around busy lunch time and waited patiently. The hostesses and a waitress were very nice offering my children drinks. After 30 minutes, myself and my 1,3, and 5 are placed at the ONLY table that is in the Sun. All other tables are completely shaded. I ask our waiter nicely if we could get the next table which he agrees. 10 minutes later, still no water, waiter comes back to ask what i would like as a man is being sat at the table next to us. My kids like to go to an indoor playground near local table so we often stop in for a late lunch. Always great service and selection. We are vegetarian so I appreciate the options. Probably the laziest managers/owners/workers. Walked in because I used google to search for local vegan restaurants as I don't live in this area and happened to be here for work. Sit at the bar and their menu has A LOT of vegetarian options so I think great, surely some of these items can be modified to be vegan. Ask the bartender and he isn't sure so he asks the manager or owner and he comes back with no, nothing can be made vegan... you've got to be kidding me. Not the hummus? Not the salads? After waiting to make it to a weekend brunch to try Local Table's Eggs Benedict, I was greatly disappointed in the food and the service. My wife and I have been working to find the best Eggs Benedict and Katy and this is definitely not it. She had the traditional Eggs Benedict and I had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. Both had eggs that were basically hard boiled (see images). The flavor on the crab cakes was excellent, but with no running egg yolk I can't really call it Eggs Benedict, it left the ciabatta bread really dry. The hollandaise sauce was really runny as well and almost no existent. I tried to ask the waiter if that is just how they made the eggs there, to see if it was a chef screw up or the actual way they make it but he just walked off. Called ahead with reservations on a Sun night. Great service right away and plenty of distance room. Delicious appetizers... artichoke dip, hummus & crab cakes. Want to start off by saying the customer service was really good and when our order wasn't good, they gave us a free dessert. 5 stars on that. But the food...not good. I got the Margherita pizza and it was a mouth full of oil. I've never had to give back my food before at a restaurant but I had too. I then got my second choice which was the shrimp tacos and it was so bland and just...terrible. A crazy about of cabbage and a tiny amount of sauce. It's like they took three pieces of shrimp and cut it up into little bites to make it look like you were getting more but you weren't. For $14 I expected the tacos to be way bigger. Plus the side of black beans was extremely tiny and you can tell that the black beans were fresh out the can. Zero flavor in anything. My husband got a chicken wrap which also had no flavor. He said the size salad had more flavor. And then our free dessert tasted like something they got out of the freezer and reheated. I ordered the gyro plate, excellent all the way through, good portion of lamb, tziki sauce and I had them provide aside salad instead of fries. The pita was two pieces so ordered aside and some extra Tziki sauce. We had a Carafe of mimosa's all fresh squeezed juices. Yelp should really consider .5 ratings because this place was a 3.5. Yes, we came on Mother's Day so our expectations were adjusted accordingly. We made reservations and were seated right away. Our waiter was friendly but busy. Being a Sunday night, we ordered our drinks and food right away - our group ordered Crab Cakes, California Chicken Sandwich, Gyros Pita, Mama's meatloaf and Mushroom Pizza. Let's start with the good - Mushroom pizza with a fried egg - delicious and perfect. The sauce they use, the perfectly cooked sunny side up egg, fresh arugula, hint of red pepper - serious perfection (rating: 5+). Gyros Pita - came with fries, it was a good pita, flavorful meat but we all prefer our fries a little crisper than the soft ones we got (rating: 4). Mama's meatloaf - it was okay - it was what the menu said, "Your Mama's meatloaf" - took you back to your childhood, served with decent mashed potatoes and green beans (rating: 3.5). Crab cakes - way too much breading for our taste (see picture). Usually when you order crab cakes, you want to see some crab on the outside. The greens, corn salsa and chipotle chili sauce definitely elevated this item (rating: 3). Most disappointed in the California Chicken sandwich. If an item comes with tomato, onion, and shredded lettuce, it should mention on the menu as the person in our group would have requested none of those items. What the menu DID mention is that is came with provolone, avocado and honey habenero aioli - and TWO of those items were left off and had to be requested. The tomato (which we didn't want) made the bun incredibly soggy while we had to wait for our other condiments. Food is great! Love the bread pudding. This is my favorite brunch place. My favorite dishes include poblano chicken, honey glazed salmon, and Tuscan chicken. Service is always great when we go. Heavy heart writing this because their food is genuinely tasty, however their "vegan" options are not actually vegan. I am dairy-free due to my breastfed baby having a dairy allergy. So I was really excited to see that Local Table had a full vegan menu. Right away when we sat down I let our waiter know my allergy and that I cannot have any dairy including cheese, butter or milk. I choose a vegan pasta option and mention that garlic bread is okay as long as there isn't butter on it. He said he'd check and offered pita bread instead. Immediately, I thought it was odd that a Vegan option includes butter, but still ordered my meal. Got my meal and everything looks good. I eat about 3/4 of it before I realize small pieces of Parmesan cheese in my VEGAN pasta! I immediately stopped eating it and took it to the waiter. All he said was sorry took the plate to see what happened. They sent over the manager who confirmed the waiter put dairy free on the ticket, but the chef decided to still add cheese. He comped my meal, but it still doesn't negate the fact that now my baby will suffer from their mistake. The owner needs to overhaul their vegan menu and retrain their staff to avoid these future issues. I have had some awesome dishes the few times I have visited here for lunch. Sometimes the service is a little wacky with awkward servers, but they are kind and willing to help you with what you need. The hummus, burger, pizza... all delicious and don't taste like any ole' restaurant. The ingredients are fresh, and there is always a little twist to basic dishes. Katy is always lacking decent restaurant spots, but this is one you should be willing to try... for lunch at least! I have never dined here for dinner. A larger selection of draft beer would be nice but what they do have is good.
