I looked up "restaurants near me" and Cafe Petra popped up, so I thought I'd give it a shot. (I didn't know it was a chain, which would have deterred me.) I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the gyro sandwich. It came with fries or salad, and I ordered the salad. It was sort of sad! Only romaine lettuce and dressing with some feta, and a few of the lettuce pieces had brown edges. However: The gyro itself was amazing! The meat was very tender, and the tzatziki was tasty and plentiful. And so much meat! Plus it came with hummus and pitas on the side. Very good! Service was very good as well. One strong negative: it was freezing in there! So cold that it felt good to walk outside into 100 heat of Texas summer. I'd give this place 4 out of 5. read more

The ambiance was amazing here. We came during labor day weekend to try the place out after seeing all of the wonderful reviews online. We came pretty early (11) so it wasn't crowded yet. As we were leaving there were more tables filling up. It was very cold in there, which I appreciate so much after coming in from the heat outside. The cashier/ waiter was the nicest man! He listed out all of the drink options and asked if we had any questions about the menu. I ordered the lunch portion of the combo chicken and gyro plate and my husband had the chicken shawarma sandwich. Both came with a decent size feta salad and a large hummus and unlimited pita for dine in. My plate also came with taziki sauce and rice. The combo plate was huge! I could have easily shared with my husband and ask have leftovers. The meats were super tender and really flavorful. The rice was nice and fluffy, too. I will definitely be back and try more dishes. If you haven't been here, please give it a try. The customer service was enough to get back to try more dishes, but the food further convinced me. read more

Looking for a new Mediterranean location I picked this one because one of my yelp friends gave it good reviews! They open at 10:30am, I showed up at 10:35am. Two workers were there, but unfortunately they said "the cooks aren't at work yet". They showed up about 5 minutes later as I was standing in the parking lot outside the door & they said to give them 10 minutes. I decided to run an errand & came back 30 minutes later. My order was a to-go. Upon my return, it took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready. I ordered the chicken curry lunch platter which comes with salad, rice & hummus. - Chicken curry (4/5)- quite unique curry sauce (kinda thick, can't place the spices) with tender chunks of chicken. - Salad (4.5/5) - Salad had a garlic dressing/sauce which elevated the basic lettuce salad & made it quite flavorful. - Hummus (3/5) - it was just ok for me. I've had some hummus at other Mediterranean places lately that are really fantastic so those have become my baseline. They have a garlic dip which I ordered as a side item, it's the most unique dip. It's whipped to a mashed potato consistency. It's good, different. When you mix the garlic dip into the hummus it upgrades the hummus flavor. - Lentil soup (3.5/5) I was expecting to have spoonfuls of actual whole lentils but this soup has the lentils puréed so it's just a little thicker than a broth soup with no visible lentils. The flavor is good, I can taste the black pepper (but it's not hot). I just prefer less of a puréed soup. Lots of pita bread was provided. The worker taking my order thanked me for coming back. Hopefully it's not a pattern for them not to be ready when the doors open. read more

I've tried two different Cafe Petra locations in the Houston area including this one and the Atascocita location, and they've both been pretty good. I've only ordered the Chicken Shawarma here in Katy but it's so good it's hard trying anything else haha! It's juicy, charred, tender and packed with such great mediterranean flavor with slight lemon. My only complaint is that the rice here seems to be overcooked. I had this same issue at the Atascocita location so it may just be the way they cook it. Other than that, they have a variety of menu items that I plan to go down the list and try! read more

Stopped by for lunch. First time here. Sooooo good!! Like everything. It was chilly inside so maybe bring a sweater. I got the chicken Petra sandwich. It was very good. It came with French fries that were cooked perfectly. It also came with garlic dip. I dipped my French fries and sandwich in the garlic dip. Amazing. My husbands combo plate was really good as well. I was looking for a new place to try and found Cafe Petra. I placed an order to go on their website and this place is quite the hidden gem. It was easy to order. pick up was smooth and best of all everything was done to perfection. When i walked it it was like a cafe you could smell the spices which smelled delicious, I was greeted quickly and told my order was almost ready. The lady was so sweet and delivered the food to my car since i had people in the car. The service was great the food was tender delicious and hot the spot. We went here yesterday while we were visiting our son and daughter-in-law and Katy. Greek and Mediterranean food are my favorite. It is healthy, satisfying, and doesn't add the yucky feeling after eating a heavy meal while traveling. We ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate and the Gyro sandwich, and both were excellent. The Gyro meat was the best I've ever had. It was extremely moist and full of flavor. The Chicken Shawarma was perfectly spiced. They have the best tzatziki and hummus I have ever had. Also, the staff was extremely kind. When we went to go inside to pick up the food the restaurant is immaculately clean and very well decorated. Best Lebanese food that I've had in years! I'm so happy that Cafe Petra opened near my home. Having dined here four times now I'm convinced this is the real deal. Located in a strip mall at the corner of Firethorne and FM1463, this small restaurant has a lot to offer. The restaurant itself has a simple decor with instrumental music playing and a few tv's playing videos of scenes of Middle East. It's quite enough so you can talk and be heard. The menu offers a variety of meats, seafood and vegetables so that you can try different dishes if you that sort. Me? I love the combo platter with chicken, gyro meat and a small green salad. Tho once my son and I shared a platter for two. The portions are enough that we always have something to bring home too. Try the Lebanese Tea. Something like an Arnold Palmer, only better! read more

First off I want to thank God for this opportunity and the friends that I've made along the way. The few coworkers that I connected with truly made my time here much easier and I'm grateful for that. With that being said the cultural/racial discrimination that I endured my entire time here was disrespectful, distasteful, unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I was NOT treated fairly and I was not appreciated while I was there. From day 1 I was treated like an outsider and not as an employee solely because of my skin color and the moment I decided to defend/protect myself against this kind of discrimination I became the problem. Management was horrible and there was no form of order, professionalism or accountability for any of their actions. None of the servers received any proper training to begin with and also what we were told was used against us later on. I started working here in November of 2025 and the owners (Husband & Wife) never knew how much I was getting paid until I confronted them about it in March of 2026. The owner said verbatim that "they never spoke about it" meaning for 4 months straight they were Paying me whatever they felt like I earned or deserved. After we spoke of this issue I was supposedly granted a raise But my checks never showed any indication of that, my checks were smaller and smaller each and every time. I worked every holiday (except Christmas) since I started and was never compensated for that time But a few of my coworkers who also worked with me were paid under the table. When I confronted the owners about this I was told "it was the wife's choice & she could do that" while still not receiving any appraisal or payment for my time. The communication Between management, the front of the house and back of the house was absolutely awful and unprofessional as well. The main cook was very rude, disgusting, immature and lacked any kind of respect for his team and when I reported this behavior back to management their response was "leave him alone and let him be because that's just how he is". Dealing with him and management any time there was an issue Became completely unacceptable and unbearable. I Never felt like the entire staff was on one accord and connected at all I truly felt like it was management & Kitchen staff vs the servers. On numerous occasions the owners created imaginary issues with me and worked hard to make problems with me any chance they got. Even questioning my coworkers asking them "why are you guys always defending/protecting him" when they spoke of me to them (always in a different language). The wife came into the store once and asked for my assistance so I helped her of course, after I was done I went into the Restroom. She came looking for me to find the tray I had made for her (which I left right behind her on the counter) and after I told her she Assumed I had an attitude and told her husband. Not long after the husband called me furious saying that I gave his wife an attitude for nothing, then shortly appeared at the job and told me to step outside so we could talk. There was no true resolution from this conversation, just my job was threatened and I was not comfortable, heard or felt like I could trust anyone in management moving forward. I resigned from my position because I was never treated fairly here, never compensated truly for my time, I was completely taken advantage of and taken for granted the entire time. After I resigned I never received my last check and the reasoning for this is Because my time was apparently added to the check Before which is completely false and this issue was never resolved by management with them telling me I won't be receiving anything moving forward. If you go online to the reviews you'll see my leadership and all my hard work speaks for itself But yet I was Never appreciated and never respected by management for any of it also making my experience here extremely dreadful. I'm making this post not just to bash these guys for what I went through But to bring attention and awareness to this issue. For people to come here looking for a better opportunity at life for themselves and their families you would think they wouldn't be so ignorant and prejudice towards anyone who is trying their best to do the same and show kindness and compassion But this is the reality of the world we live in and this type of behavior is cruel, unfair and needs to be stopped. God over all I still thank you for this opportunity and I am still appreciative of the friends I've gained, the lessons I've learned along the way & I will continue being great moving forward in your name. read more

Cafe Petra is my favorite restaurant in the Katy area. Their Chicken Feta salad is especially amazing and even gluten free. You'd think that was simple, but the meat and dressing are next level amazing and flavors are addictive. The quality of their ingredients can't be beat, the food is not just delicious but healthy and nutritious too. Beyond the food, the restaurant is very clean and the service is the very best it can be. Every person who works there clearly wants to make sure their patrons have an excellent experience. I've been going there since they opened and have never had a bad experience. Their only problem is that I don't think enough people know they're here. We had brunch at Cafe Petra. We had a big party and asked if they could bring out appetizers, followed by a main dish, and desert. They were very accommodating with our request. For the appetizers, they brought out salad, Kebbah, and Hummus. It was terrific and a good preparation for the main course. They then brought out chicken, meat, and gyro combination platter with rice and bread. The meat was very clean and juicy, especially the gyro meat. I can't wait to come back and try the gyro platter. For dessert, we tried the Baklava. It was excellent as well. The service was great and the staff timed out bringing out the food excellently. We will be back very soon! read more

Found this cafe by accident, looking for the restaurant that had been there before. The food was awesome and the staff was excellent. We ordered off the lunch menu; gyro plate and meat moufassa. Read about this place a while ago, but didn't go in until a friend told me about his experience. Tried it last night, and it did not disappoint. Family had the wraps, and I had the gyro plate. Good sized portions and food was excellent. Service was a bit slow, but not so much that I was irritated (my pet peeve). Forgot to take photos, but I'll definitely return and add to this post next time. There was a steady stream of folks picking up takeout orders. At least half the tables in the restaurant were taken, so no one that walked in had to wait. They don't serve alcohol, and we forgot to ask if we could bring our own. Ordered off of DoorDash and I can't usually trust door dash reviews so leaving it here! I ordered the chicken kabob plate. It arrived fresh and delicious. Salad, hummus, chicken, roast onion and pepper and rice. The rice was super moist and fresh, not dry at all. Every place I'm super disappointed in the rice but it was like home made. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I finally got to try it today. The food was absolutely divine. Everything we tried was well seasoned and very flavorful. However, the service was very slow. We waited about 30 min for our appetizers, which were halloumi cheese and hummus, and the entrees took an hour to come. Being that they are still a newer establishment, maybe they are still trying to figure out their groove. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm already looking forward to the next time I visit. read more
