Avesta on Wilcrest has been my go to Persian restaurant from my very first time eating there. When I saw that there was a second location in the Katy area I immediately bookmarked it. Since it's on the other side of town I couldn't exactly come here when I first found out about them opening but I am so glad I did. The interior is clean and the lighting is amazing. Service is warm and friendly just like the other location. Having dined in twice now I have tried the usual suspects: beef koobideh, kashke bademjan, Persian hummus. Just like the other location this one also serves complimentary bread and the herb plate with cheese. New things that I tried this time were the falafel, and the ashe rashte. The beef koobideh kabob were as succulent and flavorful as always. The sour cherry rice tasted a little different but it is still good. My sister got the chicken ones and said that they tasted great as well. The ashe rashte was okay but it was lacking that strong flavor punch that I have always gotten from the first spoon. However, adding a little lemon that comes with it and some salt remedied that. An excellent addition to this part of town. I finally have been able to come to Avestas second location!!! I love their food!!! My husband, cousin in law, and I came here for dinner. We received complementary nann and herbs, I always look forward for this to start our meal. We ordered some kabobs and chicken curry (not pictured). For kabobs, we had shrimp, salmon, lamb, and chicken. The seafood was tender and cooked perfectly. The chicken was juicy and moist. The lamb could use some work but lamb can be hard to cook with. The seafood kabobs came with dill rice. I also like the veggies kabobs. And I upgraded the other rice to cherry polo. The chicken curry reminds me of butter chicken. I would skip this and just go for the kabobs. The garlic sauce was interesting and would be an amazing spread for any carbs. The hummus was as expected. There was another curry that looked interesting that was made with pomegranates but we will order that next time. All of the stuff we ordered was more than enough for three adults. Service was great at the beginning but towards the end , they all somehow disappeared ? We stayed a lot longer than expected because we couldn't wave someone down to ask for to go boxes until one of us went to the front counter. The furniture was clean and stable but it is a small room compared to their other location. And very bright. Parking is free and out front. Note, if you want more feta cheese or butter for your kabob dish, you can ask for it. The staff told me they don't automatically because this community doesn't know the food culturally and they could go to waste. read more

Ok. Hidden gem! Complementary bread & veggie/herbs (There's nothing to put on the bread so we ordered hummus) All I can say is get it!! The hummus is fabulous. Regular hummus with wonderful notes of garlic (just the right amount to me!) I filled up on hummus & bread and didn't even care!! Let me re-iterate. This is one of the best hummus I've ever tasted!! Please get it!! The bread also came with commentary herbs/veggies (parsley,basil, feta & cucumber). I'll admit I was not quite sure what to do with the herbs but I put the fresh basil & parsley on my hummus bread and it was definitely an enhancer. I'm not a big tea drinker but the Peruvian tea is poured from a pot into your glass & is very pleasant with free refills. Also a cool-looking water carafe is placed on the table. I would actually call this place quiet although they play smooth music in the background at a decent volume level. Service was great. We had multiple servers check on us multiple, multiple times to ensure we were pleased. The place is bright & cheery with pretty round chandelier light fixtures. The food was really tasty! Had the shrimp curry with cherry rice. Almost asked for the rice without cherries but glad I didn't. Also tasted the lamb kabob. The meat was very tender & flavorful. After a brief Yelp search for a weekday lunch, I decided on Avesta in Katy. The restaurant was brightly lit and very nicely decorated with art on the walls. Parking wasn't an issue at lunch but perhaps a challenge with a busy dinner crowd. The staff were great and patient with first timers that thought everything on the menu looked terrific. I decided on the Lamb Shish Kabob Combo with lamb and chicken (4.5). I absolutely loved the Persian Hummus (5) appetizer with some of the best bread I've ever had. Great, random find while visiting Houston! Avesta is located conveniently near the Katy Asian town. Parking can be a little difficult at peak hours in this area, but once parked you can actually eat and walk around without having to re-park. The food here was amazing! Once seated, they offer you a plate of fresh vegetables with feta and fresh baked naan. I ordered hummus to eat with and it was delicious! For entree, I ordered the seafood combination plate with salmon and shrimp. It did take a little while for all our orders to come out, but we'll worth it. Portions were huge! The roasted veggies were a perfect combo along with perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp and salmon. I recommend this plate! Ambience is clean and casual! If you're wondering if this is the same Avesta as the one off Westheimer, yes! That was the first thing I asked when I walked in. The joy I experienced and knowing I now have this delicious restaurant so close to me from the fresh housemaid dips, to the bread, the Persian tea, and of course, the kebabs everything is quite delicious. Portions are healthy for the price. Food was super fresh. - Persian hummus 4/5 - Dill Labneh 5/5 - herby and tart - Koobideh Kabob 5/5 - cooked to perfection - Fattoush Salad 5/5 - loved the pita "croutons" - sesame bread 5/5 - huge, chewy and the perfect dipping vehicle - Persian Hot Tea 5/5 The inside is very nice and they have tons of seating. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Service was great and the staff was attentive. I appreciated how carefully my items were packaged to go. I am so glad Avesta is open in Katy. All the entrees are amazing. The grilled skewers and tenderloins are tasty , moist and tender. The rice was cooked perfectly. Lamb kabobs and Lamb shanks were tender and well seasoned. I liked the different types of rice options on. each dish. Delicious hummus and Babaghanoush. The cauliflower was seasoned well and not overly oily. Falafels were crisp and probably some of the best we've had. The bread was really fluffy and soft, Thry were so good! Some of the best Persian/middle-eastern food my family has had! They started us off with a hot plate of perfectly doughy yet crisp pita bread, and we ordered a side of Persian hummus- we couldn't stop eating it. The lamb shank was HUGE and every part of it was juicy; it came with a large serving of delicious dill rice as well. Everyone else either had a koobideh or a shish kabob and thoroughly enjoyed it. Big portions and so worth every dollar. There was a bit of a wait because there were some big parties, but the staff handled everything incredibly well. Same great taste as their original location in Westchase, on Westheimer and Wilcrest! Chicken Sultani is my to go to, and their hummus is the best in town. Always great service, try their Persian hot tea. The ambiance at this location is OK, a bit small, but convenient location in Katy. read more

It was my first time coming here and I got the Koobideh lamb kabobs with zereshk polo rice and some Bastani Irani pistachio ice cream. The lady who took my order ay the front was very kind and sweet. These kabobs are the best I've ever had and you won't find better in the Houston area. Everyone who lives here or is passing through should eat here and patronize this business.
