The restaurant wasn't busy at all as you can imagine on a holiday and I was sat right away. Table for 1. Forgot to take a picture of the menus but they have many options . The restaurant is pretty big and very clean . They keep the tables prepped to seat. Lots of room for large groups as well. My waiter took my order promptly . I started with the Hummus. It comes with one large Pita, seed oil, and the hummus. It was very flavorful and I really needed more Pita. The oil was a great accompaniment ( hummus on pita and dip in the oil) . I the ordered the Lamb Chops served on a bed of Biryani Rice with a grilled onion and tomato. They give you 5 lamp chops and a large portion of rice. She lamb was tender and seasoned well. The chicken kebab (chicken shish tawook on the menu) was perfectly grilled, with nice sear lines, and I also enjoyed the rice that came with the chicken. Came here twice, once on the way to Houston and once on the way out back to Dallas. The fresh bread that's baked in house is so good and soft, and the falafel is the best I've had in a long time! We also had the fattoush and kibbeh, both incredible. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and answered all of our questions and inquiries, and the place was well kept and cleaned very quickly after a table gets empty. Sayad Mediterranean Kitchen is a Houston treasure and I recently had the opportunity to dine here with a Lebanese national. Which meant I got to try some dishes that I did not know about. And to enjoy perfect renditions of some I did. Let me tell you. The hummus, baba ganoush, and other meze are as good as one can find in Houston. A meze I was unfamilar with combined yogurt and bits of grilled lamb. I learned that it is called fateh and that there are many variants on the one we had today. Additionally, a kofta casserole with tahini was good. A fish dish on the menu, Homemade Sayiddeh should be considered and ordered without hesitation. Kunefe though. A quick search with Wiki indicates it is Turkish. "While a similar dish, knafeh, is found throughout the Middle East, künefe is distinctly Turkish, believed to have originated in Hatay and made specifically with the province's namesake cheese, which is similar to fresh mozzarella. " But my host begged to differ. And the one we had today was special and unique for me. Instead of the melty cheese, its center, underneath the layer of crispy kataifi, called Ashtah, was made from clotted cream, probably semolina, possibly corn starch, sugar and rose blossom water. Highly recommend! Food was AMAZING and portion sizes are huge. We ordered the hummus, cheese arayes, beef shish kebab, chicken shish tawook, and mint lemonade, and every dish was packed with flavor. The food is amazing every single time! From the complimentary fluffy, generously sized naan, to the appetizers and entrees, everything has tasted delicious. In the past I've ordered their Falafel, fried calamari, Beef kabob (generous size, and that's coming from my husband) and my go-to order every time- Tikka Chicken platter!! Their portions are sooo generous I literally have lunch for the next day. Service is very kind and helpful but a little slow. Hookah is available on the patio (I haven't tried it). I had an amazing lunch here. Frankly, this is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Houston. 1. Hummus 10/10: came with complimentary hot pita. So good and fresh. 2. Mixed grill 6/10: meat was dry. I wonder if it was because of ramadan, it was not fresh grilled meat 3. Lamb chops 8/10: very good but a little bit under flavored. I frequent here often during the work week for the beef/lamb kabab skewer lunch special. The meat isn't always the most tender but the taste is there. I always get hummus as a side. Can't beat $14. Unprofessional! A party of 10 professionals and when they served the Zattar and bread, they put only two small plate of of the zattaar that was enough for two persons. So we ordered five more. Kunafah was horrible. Bad. when we got the bill they charged us for the extra five that were supposed to be free, when I talked to the waitress, she asked a young man whom she's identified as owner or the son of the owner instead of canceling and apologizing , he kept the charges! We thought the old Sayaad ways of over charging customers stopped. Two years ago in a party of 16, they charged us 748 instead of 320. My colleague called them and they did the same exact thing. I came in tonight to have dinner with my daughter who is graduating high school in May. She had eaten here once before and wanted us to consider hosting her graduation dinner here with about 20 plus family members and friends. The host asked if I had a reservation and I said no (my daughter didn't need a reservation before). He was not very inviting or friendly but instead said his waitlist was full. I asked how long is the wait and he walked away saying let me see. After a while, I walked back to the host's desk to ask if I could just order to go. But when he returned, though I was in line he immediately helped two other people before me who had stepped around me. Then when he finally acknowledged me and I asked about ordering to go, he dismissively said yes and then immediately helped the lady behind me. I find it no coincidence that every person he addressed before me appeared to be from the same part of the world as him, while I definitely appeared not to be from anywhere near his country of origin. So we we went to Aga's in Stafford and though they were just as busy, they had three ladies hosting and all of them were very friendly, courteous, and welcoming. My family and I got the mixed brill combo which comes with chicken shawarma, lamb, and gyro meat with rice, pita and onion and tomato. For appetizers we got the falafel and hummus and also had pita and zaatar with the olive oil. Then for dessert we got the mint tea and shared the konofe. Ordered the baba ganoush, hummus, zaatar, lamb chops, meat platter, seafood grill, kunafa and sayad favorite and everything was sooo delicious. The meat + fruits and veggies were fresh, bread is served warm, and the dips are just perfect. They have big servings/portions in my opinion so definitely keep that in mind when ordering. I wish I could add better pictures but I was too focused on devouring everything to get a decent food pic I fear. I've been craving good Mediterranean food for a long time now so eating here seriously made my week. Also the staff are very kind (Jehan was very attentive and sweet. I arrived at 1:30 pm on Thursday with a friend. There was only 2 other tables dining in at the time. Right up front, there was the buffet line. There was a big dining room behind the wall and tables that wrapped around on the right side. We opted for the lunch buffet for $15.95. The buffet line has hummus, cucumber yogurt, salad, parsley salad, shawarmas, baked fish, fried fish, biryani rice, chicken curry, chicken kebab, chicken tikka, beef kafta, and baklava for dessert. The food looked like it has been sitting out for hours. It tasted how it looked. Dry. Good thing they have some wonderfully delicious garlic sauce to bring some moisture to the proteins!! The chicken curry had literally no chicken in it. The curry sauce was more similar to butter chicken which was pretty good. Pita bread with hummus 4/5. The chicken tikka has the most flavor but was dry from sitting out. I can tell if the food was fresh the food would be good. The service on this particular day was poor. There were two servers. A male and a female. I had to ask for a water refill 3-4 times before I would get one. I also notified them of the buffet line running out of chicken tikka around 1:55 pm and the server told me they were making it. I waited patiently. I asked once more at 2:15 and they said it was on the way. 2:30 comes around and the server comes to the table and says they are not making the Chicken tikka because the buffet ends at 3:00 pm. I replied, "Yes, I know. I notified you guys and asked for more chicken tikka before 2pm. You kept telling me it was on the way. Now, its 2:30 and you're telling me they wont put more food on the buffet line? I waited over 30 minutes for chicken tikka. That is okay, get me the bill." Places like this are why I'm glad the Yelp app exists; after our original lunch plans nearby were cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, I did a bit of searching on my phone, and we hopped across the street to this place. From what I can gather they only serve a buffet at lunch, so we were in luck today! We arrived even hungrier than usual, and the food really didn't disappoint. The best place I could compare this to is Dimassi's; there's a much more limited selection of dishes as this is a smaller restaurant, but the quality is above and beyond anything from there. Everything from the Caesar Salad (which seemed to have home-made croutons) to the roasted vegetables, the selection of various sliced shawarma wraps to curries, was of exceptional quality. All of the food feels 'restaurant level' without cutting corners; nothing was too dry or overcooked, not even the grilled chicken and kofta kebab, which as the sign outside promises have that 'wood-grilled' taste. There's a selection of various dips to go with the naan they bring to your table, or with the flatbread that's coated both sides in bright green za'atar. And the dessert baklava were some of the best I've had since trying some my husband's co-worker brought back from Lebanon; the pastry was nice and crisp, with a filling spiced with cardamom and cinnamon. And all for an absolute steal at $15.95 per person! So... why only four stars, given I'm raving about the food AND the price? Sad to say, while the food here is great, the service is abysmal, and it feels like they don't want you as their customer. After seating us, the waitstaff spent the entire time sat at a table in a corner, browsing on their phones. I have no problem with people taking it easy when things aren't busy, and we were two of only three people the majority of the time. But we had to go over to them and disturb their phone time every time we wanted a water refill; and our last request for it went completely ignored. This doesn't even seem to be a problem exclusive to "water only" customers either, as I've noticed other reviewers mentioning this as well. I think whether you'd like this place or not depends on how much of a dealbreaker it is to get bad service. We'll be back simply for the undeniable quality of the food for such a small price; but if you're trying to entertain a friend or a client? Maybe look for somewhere with better ambience and more attentive staff. If Sayad could fix this, they'd be more than worthy of a full five stars - or more, if Yelp only allowed it! read more

I tried their Ramadan iftar after a recommendation from a local friend who has been to this place for regular menu. Both of us were not satisfied and believe they can do much better. The service was not that focused and welcoming, all waiters were running with no time to check and offer help. The food was not to the restaurant standards, as a grill it should have more grilled options. There was 1 tray per item, resulting in a long line, it takes around 15 minutes to make a full round. If you want a break from Fadi's this is your next stop! Really great Mediterranean foods, served in a warm environment where the chef/owner takes the time to mix, mingle and cajole guests. The afternoon lunch buffet offers a wealth of tasty choices. Many folks from the western Houston business community I have seen frequent here. I asked the waiter he agreed, for a real authentic place, and it is, cubed sugar, a sign of authenticity, it is sorely needed. I even politely mentioned it to the owner about the sugar. He seemed perplexed a blonde from Jersey knows. Ok I knew, I know. So here is the review. Great place, bring your friends, but one less star for the missing cube. PLEASE. Add the cubed sugar. Why let your competition take away from your splendid time crafted detailed splendor? You are the best in town. In summary, yes, I will keep returning but will go to Phoenicia Cafe two minutes drive, same side of the street, for drive thru for sugared caffeination, as I did tonight.
