So, I'll start off by saying that it's a very clean but extremely homely looking restaurant off of the freeway. The corner for kids is really cute although in this day and age you don't know how often things will wiped it down, but the thought was lovely. I joined family and friends for after a baby dedication and this is where they chose to celebrate and eat. It's a Turkish restaurant and at the time they were serving their Turkish Continental breakfast. Unfortunately, there were no name tags or labels for anything... nor a menu explaining what anything was. I went to the ladies who were standing near the food and asked them to help a sistah out! Lol. It seemed like explaining what things were in English was a bit difficult for the women, so my comprehension was equally challenged. I just selected what I thought looked somewhat appealing and proceeded to sit down. (The ladies, however, were quite friendly and smiley so that was nice.) The yellow eggs with the red pepper or tomatoes were not terrible in flavor and quite reminiscent of Nigerian eggs, but they were extremely wet so I couldn't fathom finishing it. I also had the hash browns which were flavorless. The sausages were terribly cold and super soft, so chewing them was like eating baby food. The other eggs that were presented were not tasty at all and were a bit runny as well. The croissant was not buttery and it was burnt so this, too, wasn't enjoyable to eat. The traditional Turkish bread that I had a slice of was hard and unflavorful so I had a hard time with this as well. I'm grateful that the grapes were delicious and the Turkish tea was nice with two packs of sugar. I'm not sure I would ever come back again, but although I didn't like the food I did have a nice time.

Everything here is awesome . Food , atmosphere and the service. It was all good. We loved the food, the tea and the desserts. Will surely go back again.

Great service and calm ambience. They have very few veggie options though. The lentil soup is good apart from the starters

We appreciated that kind gesture. Every food item on the menu looked delicious. I decided on the Lamb Rack. Loved the texture of the lamb and loved the basmati rice. Lamb was cooked perfectly, and the rice was very fragrant. We were offered a complimentary Persian Ice Cream Sandwich which had an unique flavor. It wouldn't be a flavor for everyone, but to me, it was a perfect ending to a great entree as it was light and mildly sweet. Note that not all food options are halal. Their website is updated with the information and you could also ask the server for clarification. Absolutely adore the interior. The restaurant could get loud but still bearable. Complimentary valet parking is available. Self-parking is also available. Highly recommend to make reservation as the restaurant does get crowded during peak hours.

By the time we got to our table, we had only an hour to dine before the restaurant closes. Thankfully, our wonderful server was quick to get us settled in and that made up for the slow start. We tried a few dishes and found the starters to be more tasty than the main entree. Shirazi Salad, Rumi's Wings, Crispy Potato, Cremini & Oyster Mushroom Hummus was well worth sharing plates. Unfortunately, the Chicken Kabob lacked seasoning and any depth of flavor. It was the least favorite dish of the night. We also sampled every single desserts on the menu, but only the Majoon Toffee Cake won us over with its deliciously warm and comforting sweetness. While we enjoyed some dishes, the overall taste was just average for an upscale establishment. One major detail was the underwhelming of plating when it can play a vital role in how food is perceived. A little more finesse could really add value to the dining experience.

We had 23 guest yesterday and the entire table was reserved for our guest as it was a B-day. It just doesn't compare to the real BBQ joints in Houston. Somewhat tough in parts. Not much bark. The sausage was the absolute worst I've ever had anywhere in my life. I wouldn't feed it to my dog. It went in the trash. Saffron rice was my ok, pointless really. Mac 'n cheese very plain Jane. The ice in my soda smelled funny. They did have some good employees. Service was great. They get a second star just for that. Don't think I'll be going back. I just have to say that I've been to some really crappy, run-down BBQ restaurants over the years. Old places where the owners are burned out and the staff doesn't care. Corners are cut and they just barely try. I'm sure you can think of some BBQ hole in the walls like that. As bad as they are with their Ekrich sausage, Van Camps pork 'n beans, Walmart meats, and KC Masterpiece bbq sauce - even they are better than Levant BBQ.

The menu was labeled for GF items which is always a win for me. I opted for the pornstar martini which came with a shot of champagne and the birria tacos. Service was great. As I see the entrance, love the decor, ambiance, and the whole seating area with bar in the middle, flowers and sculptures is cute and insta worthy. I was sat down at 8 pm, my server was great, he does talk a lot but that's his personality. From the server standpoint service was great. Now the food, I ordered Mithus shrimp and butter chicken experience. I asked for spicy for both dishes. Shrimp and the sauce, really good, came with soft buns. Delicious! Although it was not spicy at as asked. The butter chicken experience was very disappointing for me - it came in 3 sauces, white, tomatillo and traditional. I felt they needed a bit of flavor, something more bold. I felt meh the whole time as I have had better butter chicken. Mind you, I'm Punjabi and this is owned by Punjabis so I was surprised the food was tasted by someone and was said this is ok. The traditional was my biggest meh, as the sauce was way too tangy, that is not butter chicken though. Now service, although server was great, my food was severely late, I was literally scrolling on my phone starving. Nothing was offered by staff to make up for it. When I say late - I sat down at 8 pm, I ordered both - app and main dish at the same time. My butter chicken did not hit my table till 9:30 pm. I almost wanted to walk out. The restaurant really need to step up their flavor game and service game. Overall, nothing to rave about, or make an effort to come back unless they really make it better. I have had better Indian food let alone Michelin, which again has been a great experience in New York, Chicago, DC and in Europe. I think the severely late food service, and lack of flavors, and keeping it so bland despite asking for spicy, killed it for me.

I'm always happy to discover a good restaurant recommendation, and this one definitely did not disappoint. They had someone out front handing out samples of their Jollof rice, curry sauce, and stewed plantains, which were part of their Golden Bowl. I'm not a big plantain person, so I initially asked for mine without them. But, I decided to give them a try anyway, both with and without them. I'm glad I did because the plantains actually added a really nice balance to the dish. The combination of the rice, curry, and plantains was mostly savory with just a hint of sweetness. Hands down, this was my favorite dish. I also have to give a shout out to the woman out front handling the samples. I spoke with her the most, and she did a really good job of selling the restaurant. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. Sometimes it's the little things, like someone taking the time to introduce you to the food and make recommendations, that can really make a difference. All in all, ChopNBlok was a great find, and I'm glad my friend recommended it. I don't live in the area, but if I ever find myself back there, I would definitely return for the Golden Bowl. It's always nice when you discover a dish that makes you want to come back for more!

Updating my review - still 5 stars, and still a wonderful experience!…read more J and I visited for dinner and had the korma chop with beef and the lamb dumplings. All the servers were prompt and helpful and our food came out quickly. The korma chop was heavenly like last time - so well-flavored and savory! The beef was definitely a good choice. The dumplings were delicious as well - a bit lighter on the flavor but quite filling and paired nicely with the chili oil dipping sauce. The restaurant was about half-filled on a Saturday evening so we had no trouble getting a table. There are plenty of seating options for parties of 2-4 and a few options for larger parties. It is a relaxed location and perfect for a date night, or dinner with family and friends. This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. Its a pretty casual sitdown restaurant and we were welcomed and sat pretty quickly on a Saturday around 8:30PM. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options. I def recommend this spot, esp if you like lamb as all the dishes we had were excellent and priced fairly for the portion and current economic situation.
