Came here for lunch on an early Thursday afternoon. I had no wait time, they were well under half full. I found the service to be fast and very friendly. I didn't have a specific dish in mind coming in, my server provided a few recommendations and I ended up going for the gormeh sabzi, which was a rich beany beef stew that I really liked! I could especially see this hitting the spot on the non existent cold Houston day. A lot of his other recommendations sounded intriguing so I'd love to come back some time with a larger group to do a family style meal I also had a dough to drink. I'd never heard of it before, but I always gravitate towards new drinks from cuisines I'm not too familiar with, so I gave it a try. It reminded me of a salted lassi with a bit more tang and less weight. I really liked it! If you like funky yogurty drinks I'd recommend it. Overall had a great experience, highly recommend if you're in the area and hope to go back sometime read more

I usually don't give out a 5 star but I will have to say the food was amazing! We got the grand appetizer where you get to choose four different items from the appetizers and I was so glad we did! We got to get a taste of each flavoring. The service was great as our waitress was so nice and made great suggestions. Both mine and my husbands entrees were phenomenal! I can't tell you if is authentic as it was my first time to eat Persian/Iranian food but by looks of the customers that were there it seems it seems they served traditional fare. I had the need and chicken koobideh and my husband went all out with 2 entrees! He had the lamb chengeh and chicken chengeh, one with regular rice and the other with cranberry rice, which was my absolute favorite! Their food was very tender and delicious. We were in the area for an Easter event and needed some lunch and this place received good reviews so decided to give it a try. When we first walked in, my husband's initial response was "are you sure???". The place looked really fancy on first glance and we were a little concerned we had walked into fine dining when we were just looking to grab a casual lunch. Thankfully I saw quite a few families with little kids, so that was reassuring. Also, our friend had already gotten a table for us, so we went and joined them. Since this is our first time here, we decided to order the usuals, koobideh, and badjeman. Our friend got the fesenjan stew, seafood kabob plate, and chicken breast chunks. When the food finally came out (it did take a little while), we all ate it very happily. Yes part of it was because we were so hungry, but the food was really very good. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I actually enjoyed my friend's fesenjan stew very much even though previously when I tried it at another restaurant I didn't like it at all. (Just to let you know how much we enjoyed the food, my husband and I came back a week later and ordered the same things...) Highly recommend this place for delicious Persian food! read more

Walking in, it feels like the entrance to Persepolis, with large, heavy, grand doors that immediately set the tone. It truly feels like you're being transported to an authentic Persian restaurant. I've eaten at Persian spots in several cities, including Los Angeles, and Caspian by far captures the essence of Persian culture the best. From the architecture to the décor, every inch of the restaurant, from floor to ceilingi s beautifully adorned. We arrived right at opening, so I took the opportunity to walk around and soak in all the details: stunning Persian rugs, traditional artwork, and an ambiance that felt both elegant and warm. We were seated promptly, and our waiter, who was Persian, spoke both English and Farsi, which I always enjoy. The menu is extensive compared to most Persian restaurants, offering dishes that are less commonly found elsewhere, including a variety of stews and soups. Shortly after ordering, we were served complimentary noon (bread), paneer (feta cheese), and sabzi (fresh herbs)--a traditional Persian starter that's both refreshing and nostalgic. Every entrée we tried was absolutely delicious. That said, portions are smaller than what you might expect at most restaurants, so it's best for each guest to order their own dish. Don't count on leftovers. As any real Persian would, we finished our meal with dessert and a cup of chai because no Persian meal is complete without it. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Hats off to the owner for so beautifully capturing the richness of Persian culture and sharing it with pride. We'll definitely be back and would gladly recommend Caspian to any non-Persian friends looking to try authentic Persian cuisine. read more

This place has been here forever, and it has been consistently great the entire time. The service is prompt, efficient and courteous. The ambiance is casual, not too fancy. Well appointed Persian decorations abound, a classic Persian restaurant. The food has been consistently good for the 20+ years my family has been visiting this establishment. They bring you pita and feta cheese with radish, onions, and fresh herbs when you sit down. We ordered hummus and then koobideh, perfect amount of char, juicy tasty. This is the real deal 5 star restaurant. The atmosphere is eclectic, casual and warm. Service is excellent, quick, friendly and efficient. The highlight of the evening was the food. We had a party of 3 adults and we shared 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. The food was delicious and the portions are big. Because it was our first visit here, as a treat they brought us ice cream. It was a pistachio ice cream with saffron and rosewater. Which is a traditional Persian dessert and was fantastic. We will of course return. read more

We attended my cousins baby shower here yesterday. It was fabulous. The food was amazing. The beef kababs were juicy and so good. Their rice was really flavorful as well. Their hummus was excellent - so smooth and creamy. The service was incredible - I haven't seen such excellent customer service in a really long time. We came here with our friend Daniel, and it was wonderful! It was our first time trying Persian food, and we loved it! The service was great, and the atmosphere was gorgeous. It's a beautiful restaurant! To start, we got flat bread and a the Shirazi salad and the sabzi khordan. Both were good, I preferred the freshness of the shirazi salad. We also got the grand sampler, and we tried the kashik-e bademjan (an eggplant dip), mast-o khyar (a cucumber yogurt dip) and the mast-o moosir (a shallot yogurt dip). Of those- our favorite was by far the Kashik-e bademjan. It had this incredible savory unique flavor! Next we had our main meal. We tried three kinds of rice and a few kabobs. The rice we had was the javaher polow, the polow, and the sabzi polow. They were all excellent! My favorite was probably the polow. We had the beef koobideh, beef barg, and a chicken one as well. We loved the koobideh and the barg the most! The barg tasted like a really nice steak, and the koobideh was a ground beef with plenty of delicious spices. To finish out, we had some tea and the saffron and rose water ice cream. They were delicious! We also had the baklava. My favorite was the ice cream. It was delicious! This place was excellent, and we loved to try a new place! We will be back. read more

I've been wanting to visit for a few years as I kept seeing the restaurant mentioned in news articles. The decor is unique and pretty. I liked the fabric on the tables. The herbs and feta plate and taftoon bread were good. While the bread was crispy with a fluffy interior, it was disappointing to see that you have to pay for another piece. Gohrmeh Sabzi (green herbs sautéed and stewed with kidney beans, dried limes and slices of beef) was unique and tart. It reminded me of a few Cambodian dishes but with a less refreshing aftertaste. I think I'd enjoy it more during the winter months. The Javaher Polow (cranberries, almonds, pistachios, carrots, orange peel, sour barberries) was pretty like a jewel box and had a sweet flavor profile. Every few bites, the rice was a little hard, which was a bit of a letdown. Since my stew came with rice, I was able to substitute the white basmati for any of the "Sumptuous Rice" for $4 extra. The saffron ice cream came with (3) scoops and tasted yummy. read more

We were visiting our mother in Houston, and she highly recommended this place for lunch... and also mentioned that she is a regular here. Just before heading out this way, some additional out of town guests showed up and joined in.... good for us as we knew we'd be able to try more dishes! So, this place is a very nice and impressive, open, and spacious classy casual Persian character restaurant.... looked expensive off the bat, but for the quality of ambiance, delicious Persian food, and excellent service, it's definitely worth the experience. Considering all this, the prices were surprisingly reasonable.... especially when compared to the Persian food prices in California. For appetizers, we started off with orders of freshly oven baked regular and sesame Persian flatbreads, which you can actually see being freshly made from the dining area, and they were absolutely delicious. To go along with the flatbread, we ordered some hummus, mast-o-khiyar ......cubes of chopped cucumber with yogurt, tabouleh.... basically minced parsley, sabri khordan.... basically chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese mixed with herbs. The flatbreads went amazing well with all these... definite must tries!..... and none were salty at all, like many other Persian places I'd tried in the past. For our mains, we ordered a combination of skewered and other meats like cubed, with bone, and ground chicken, ground beef, salmon, and lamb chops.... along with this, we ordered a dill rice, regular saffron rice, and one called Javaher Polow..... an exotic mixture of cranberries, almonds, pistachios, carrots, orange peel, and sour barberries. I'm not much of a rice person, but I got to try a bit of each, and they all tasted amazing... so fresh, so soft, so fluffy, so fragrant .... with the latter having such a wonderful blend of textures and flavors that went so well with the meats and condiments. Ok, so I don't eat beef or lamb, but everyone else said they tasted wonderfully delicious. I enjoyed the salmon and chicken... so fresh, perfectly prepared, and not too salty at all. Everything ordered... that I got to try... was great! And then to top everything off at the end, we ordered the Bastani Sonnati.... saffron ice cream.... made with saffron, pistachios, and rosewater.....I don't eat dairy, but it sure looked like everyone else thoroughly enjoyed it very much.... it looked very sweet, though. Overall, it was a very nice first-time dining experience here.... enjoyed the food very much, in a very pleasant, clean, and interesting environment, with excellent attentive service. read more

Okay, so Café Caspian is seriously one of the coolest restaurants! My family took me here for dinner, and everything was so good, but I HAVE to talk about the saffron ice cream. First of all, it looks awesome. It's really creamy and has this unique flavor that's hard to describe--it's kinda floral but sweet at the same time. I never had ice cream like this before. It's not like the stuff you get at the grocery store; it feels special and homemade. I didn't even want to share it with my family because it was THAT good. If you go to Café Caspian, you HAVE to try the saffron ice cream. Trust me, it's worth it! We used to love this place. Food is very good. But service has really declined. Last time we were there (a few weeks ago) it wasn't busy, but all the servers were gathered around by the kitchen entrance laughing and goofing off. We sat ignored. They would look at us occasionally, but no one paid any attention until we got up to leave. Then one of them wanted to make a fuss over us to persuade us to stay. But no--your time to treat people right is when they come through the door, not when they are leaving in disgust at your staff ignoring them. read more

This is on my short list of favorite spots in Houston, and probably my first choice if you ask where I want to go tonight. (The only way to improve it would be to move it closer to me.) The dolmas are different than dolmas or grape leaves from other places. They're warm and have a taste of mint in them. Even friends who tell me they done like grape leaves compliment the dolmas here. I like that we can get dishes that you don't find at other Mediterranean places; that's because this is a Persian restaurant. The stews are terrific. My favorite is fesenjan. If I went more frequently then I would get to order other dishes. As it is, I know the other items are delicious from bites that we share from our different orders. Every experience I've ever had there has been great. The people there are warm and friendly. And the warm pita and feta and greens that come with every meal are welcome. The other fabulous thing about Caspian Cafe is the decor is fabulous. If you want to impress your date or your family, this is a wonderful place for that. read more

I really liked dining at Cafe Caspian! My friends and I came here on a whim after hearing about it briefly. We had just come from grocery shopping in the area, so we were not really dressed to fit the place, but that's because the interior is so beautiful!!! Wow they have gorgeous lighting and decor, and I think they even have a private room that you can rent out for events/special large dinners! Parking is also plentiful as there is a lot right out front. In terms of the food, I loved everything we had! We tried their hummus and bread (so good), the beef kubideh (my all time favorite Persian food), and an assortment of the rices! The rice game here is really on point - they have so many different options to try out. My friends had some of their other meat dishes which they really liked as well! Overall, I had a great time here. I liked the beef kubideh and while it may not be the *best* kubideh I've ever tasted, it hit pretty close!
