I had a good experience with Kasra Persian grill. The service was good, the food was yummy & I felt it was a great value. We had a larger party & ended up getting the family platter to split. We also got sides of the hummus and garlic sauce. Their hummus was really delicious! Definitely a standout. All the different kebabs on the family platter were yummy. I liked the chicken kubideh kebab the best! It was nice and juicy w/ good flavor. The jujeh, chicken kebab, and kubideh were all good, but could've been a bit more juicy for my tastes. But overall everything was yummy. The rices were good too - I liked the baghali the most. Ambiance was nice, it was pretty crowded and a bit on the louder, but had a nice and welcoming vibe. They had some interesting artwork. And value was great, it ended up not being too expensive for our table of 6. You can call and make a reservation, I recommend this on weekends as the place was pretty packed. Also - there's a parking garage in the middle of rice village with 2hrs free parking. I had read through Yelp that people could stand around outside waiting for a long time to get in during peak hours because the food is so good. I have grown to trust the people who write reviews, so we went around 5:30-5:45 during the week; it turned out to be a good idea. There were just a few tables that had two, three, and four people. I've been going to restaurants for a long time and for those of you that also go, the moment you walk in there's a smell of food being prepared that wafts out from the kitchen. It's a good smell at Kasra. It was a tad early to get a true vibe, but I didn't care; I wasn't there for the vibe. Our waitress was great and knew what she was talking about. Friendly and polite, she checked on us frequently to make sure we were getting what we wanted. The food was very good and we enjoyed the different tastes from cold to hot appetizers. Kasra is a Persian spot in Rice Village. Parking is unfortunately paid parking or limited free parking in the garage. The interior is spacious and the menu is quite comprehensive. Our table tried a few different skewers and meat options; beef, lamb, and chicken, as well as their hummus and eggplant dip appetizers. The hummus and eggplant were well seasoned and went well with their flatbread. The meat skewers consisted of both ground meat with spices and meat chunks. The lamb was better than the beef and the beef was better than the chicken. All of the meat was slightly under seasoned and less flavorful than expected. The chicken was particularly bland. Service was very good and efficient. Its a silly thing to mention but i love that they bring you Diet Coke in a can and give you a little mason jar with ice. Not only that they refill your drinks with more cans if you run out! I had been wanting to come here for a while and finally did! First off, there's paid parking right across the street which is very convenient. We walked in without a reservation and were sat immediately. The restaurant is pretty big and has a nice covered outdoor area. Our server, Ali, was THE absolute best. Very attentive and kind. I went here Sunday night ordering the Combo Kubideh entree. Both meat skewers were really delicious, very nicely seasoned, had good charbroiled flavor to them and had great ridged outer textures with very soft interiors. Imo, good ridges on kabobs can be like a good sear on a steak where the seasoning is locked in properly for cooking. The ground beef was rich, fatty, moist and had a bit of an onion salt taste. The ground chicken was milder, somewhat fatty and had a good saffron aroma to it. The tomatoes were charred well and so soft that they popped right in the mouth with one bite for each. The basmati rice was fresh and plentiful. The service from both servers I came across dining in was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Very few Iranian restaurants in TX know how to make good kabobs. Most places are awful tbh. I would highly recommend ordering a hummus for the table and using it as a dip for the pita. For my main, I went with the beef kubideh, and it did not disappoint. The chandeliers were beautiful, although the noise level was high as the restaurant was full. Kasra Persian Grill is a gorgeous restaurant, featuring elegant and modern decor with a romantic touch. The staff was polite, nice and helpful, although their attentiveness varied. A minute or two after we sat down, a staff member placed complimentary Taftoon bread and a side of herb-like salad on our table. The freshly baked bread was warm and delicious, and the side salad, a refreshing combination of mint, parsley, feta cubes, and radish, was a lovely start to our meal. I ordered the Cod Kabab and my lunch date ordered the Redfish Kabab. The Redfish Kabab was absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked to perfection, tender and flaky. The crispy skin added a delightful texture to the dish. The side of Kale mix salad that came with the dish really enhanced the overall flavor of the meal. Hands down 5/5 rating. The Cod Kabab dish was our least favorite because the Cod was more on the bland and slightly dry side. Still a good dish but we definitely prefer the Redfish Kabab over this dish. I would rate this dish a 3/5. I love and really appreciate that the menu is very vegetarian and pescatarian friendly - thank you for this! This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Gorgeous interior -- do you see those fancy hanging pink plants, lighting, and little central waterfall?? They also have a giant circular oven where the complimentary pita bread bakes. Everything we ordered was delicious!!! The menu also importantly has plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options (they specifically designate a little yellow wheat icon next to the dishes that contain gluten) which is very nice as we were visiting a friend with Celiacs. Unfortunately the bread obviously has gluten but most everything else is gluten free!! Food wise, we started off with an appetizer sampler trio. We got the 2 eggplant ones (Kashke bademja and mirza gazemi) and the mast labu (beet with homemade yogurt one), all so so good. Perfectly creamy! Not spicy at all. The tomato-based eggplant one got eaten really quickly. We also got the pomegranate & kale salad combo (sounds like an unusual combo but was very good). For the entrees, we ordered the chicken sultani (the meat skewers were amazing--super tender, so flavorful, and cut very easily with the skewer.) The two vegetarian dishes we ordered were also quite good--I can't remember which ones these were but they were tasty (one eggplant one and one sour green one--I think the kidney bean stew). My family & I came here to celebrate a birthday, and it was quite busy on a Friday night. When we were finally seated, we ordered all of our food items pretty immediately. The hummus is by far one of my favorites I've ever had. The platters were great and enough for 1-2 people for sure. Met a friend for lunch today at 11:30 and the restaurant was fairly empty, but by noon, it was 3/4th full. Service was excellent - the waiter was attentive and knew the menu well. The bread is complimentary and wonderful - hot and hearty. The food came out in under 15 minutes - it is obviously cooked to order. I had the Cornish game hen kabobs - a lot of food for $16 - and I took half of it home. The side of roasted garlic and jalapenos was mixed by me with the rice. My friend got the salmon kabobs and took half of his home well. The restaurant is large with two separate dining room areas. Parking is ample and free. An excellent and very reasonably priced lunch. This was my first time trying Persian food. It is located in Rice Village so there are parking options like the garage with complimentary 2 hrs or metered parking right in front of the restaurant. There is another location on Westheimer. I went with two friends on Saturday at 12 pm. We were immediately greeted and seated at a table in a serene area with beautiful pink wisteria flowers hanging down from the ceiling and a small water fountain in the middle of the room which gave off vibes of an enclosed outdoor patio. There were only 2 other table customers before it got busier around 1 pm. Our server Maryam was amazing. She thoroughly reviewed the entire menu and gave very helpful recs. She was incredibly attentive throughout the meal and very kind. We started off with hummus and Kashke bademjan. The complimentary bread had become pretty tough to cut and eat by the time we finished ordering so kindly requested a new one but we noticed it quickly harden as well despite trying to eat faster with the hummus. The hummus had a strong garlic aftertaste on its own but paired with the entree later on helped balance it. We liked how the roasted eggplant dip was warm and the whey cream gave it an interesting zing to the overall delicious taste. We shared the Gheymeh which is a yellow split pea soup with added eggplant with half white basmati rice and half salad. We also got the Kubideh combo which comes with beef & chicken kabob and white basmati rice. One thing to note is that the option of half salad half rice is an added $2 which we didn't know at the time. I think the consensus on the soup was that the eggplant was really tasty on its own but the split pea soup had an earthy and subtle pea flavor which wasn't our preferred soup taste. The beef and chicken kabob were our favorites because it was perfectly grilled and paired really well with the hummus or garlic sauce when eating it with the rice or salad. One friend got the Persian hot tea which came with cute sugar cubes and was so grateful to have one to go as well. Wow!! This place look decent from the pictures and reviews, which is why I went in the first place, but it's one of those examples of a place that exceeds your expectations by far when you actually experience it. Pulling up I wasn't expecting much more than a grab and go vibe restaurant. Even though it's quaint in size it has a very nice appeal. Looking in from the windows outside I can tell it was nicer than I expected. Without doing too much the place has an alluring aesthetic. I'm generally the type to call in and order even if it's my first time but I had some questions about the menu so I went in to places to go order. I have had some decent counter service experiences, even some nice ones, but this was by far the most lovely experience I've ever had placing a to go order. I believe her name was Raha and she was so amazing! I asked her my questions which she answered very well but because I'm not as familiar with the food type and names I still had to think to decide on what I want to eat. I knew I was taking a while so I didn't want to have her just waiting on me but she patiently waited, then to help she essentially went through half the menu with me while showing pictures from their website for context. For her to have been as helpful as she was for it to go order is *chef's kiss*. I'm going to get to the food but I have to say Raha was by far the most memorable part of the experience with this restaurant....and the food was delicious by the way, she was just that helpful. Now to the food. I knew I was getting a combo platter but that's one of the things I wanted to ask going in. I ended up getting the Kubideh Combo, which comes with a chicken and a beef kubideh served over basmati rice and roasted tomatoes. Because I wanted some vegetables in my life and due to my conversation with Raha, I also added the Khorake Bademjan on the side. To give you an idea of how big the portions are, when they brought me my food in the bag to go I was wondering if it was my order because it seemed like it was so much stuff in it. When I got home I was correct about it being so much stuff, but it was my food. She told me that it came with bread but I didn't expect it to come with two huge pieces of naan. The kubidehs were so large they barely fit in the plate. Oh, and I'm not sure how it was side to be used but it also came with a container of I believe lime, mint, basil, curly parsley, radish, onions and feta cheese, as well as containers of a red colored seasoning. I ate all of it but I'm idk if I ate them how or with what they were meant to be. From the quality of service, plus the portion sizes, I knew as long as the food was even halfway good I was going to be coming back. But even before I had the food, just from the smell of it in my car I knew it was going to be hitting. And it was! The first bite of the chicken kubideh was soft juicy and flavorful. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it the food, but I digress. The beef kubideh was just as good as the chicken. The rice was well cooked and was a great compliment. I didn't overly care for the roasted tomatoe but it wasn't bad. (You know you like a place when you're defending the things you didn't care for lol) The khorake bademjan though was an amazing surprise. I'm not the craziest veggie person but I eat them for health reasons. My first taste of this stew reminded me that when done right a vegetable dish can be just as good if not better than a meat dish. The flavor instantly hit and I was so thankful I got this dish. The naan, as I said, was two huge pieces. It was only okay but I'm not complaining over huge free pieces of food. Based on the experience that I had from eating at this place I can't wait to actually dine in there as well as try so much more of the menu that I know will be delicious. I didn't even realize that they had multiple locations of this restaurant unfortunately none of them are nearby where I currently live. So I guess I'll be making a drive again sometime soon. This Kasra location is nestled within Rice Village and is always bustling, but never busy to the point of lines out the door. I've managed to snag same day reservations. Ambiance is casual to business casual, with prompt service. Acoustically it gets really loud due to the open seating space. House wine: The house Cabernet is surprisingly light and fruity, almost like a Pinot, and very easy to drink. It complements the chicken dishes well, but perhaps gets a little overpowered by the beef and lamb ones. Very reasonably priced and great for large parties. Hummus: Heavy on the garlic, this hummus is fragrant and delightful. It goes well with the table bread and herb platter. It's not quite as lemony as others I've had, which I prefer, and the garlic gives it a depth of flavor that keeps me going back for more. The family platter is absolutely massive. Even though it's advertised as feeding six people, it probably feeds more. I enjoyed having the option to try a variety of different dishes, as it's essentially six entrees. Proteins: Everything within the family platter is cooked well and delicious, but my favorites are probably the chicken and beef kubideh, which are super juicy and flavorful. The chicken barg and kabob are seasoned nicely, but slightly dry. The beef chenjeh is also delicious, perfectly marinated and cooked to a juicy medium. The jujeh I found a little bland, and the bones made it a little harder to cut up and share. The roasted tomatoes were a nice touch in a sea of meat. Rice: Unfortunately I couldn't try the famed cranberry rice as it included cherries and I'm allergic, but my party told me it was delicious. I found the basmati rice to be nicely steamed and subtly seasoned. The dill and fava rice was probably my favorite, with a nice touch of tang and fresh dill that complemented the proteins well. I leave Kasra stuffed and satisfied every time, often with leftovers for another meal. Given its convenient location and consistently delicious fare, I'll be back. read more

I came here on whim as I was looking for something to eat in the area. I love Mediterranean food and this spot had great reviews so I went to check them out. Parking in this area can be a pain! Even for a to-go order I could not fit my car in the little parking spot so FYI and plan accordingly. I placed my order inside and got the kubideh combo with chicken and beef. It took about 20 minutes to come out and came with a huge amount of Basmati rice and and large pita bread. This meat is fire! Very well cooked, well seasoned and good portion sizes! Kasra's is one of those places I end up ordering from every couple of weeks because it always hits! We usually get the impossible kubideh with dill and fava bean rice, ghormeh sabzi, gheymeh, hummus, persian salad, mast museer, ash-e-jow, and kashke bademjan - and everything tastes like it's been made with real depth and care. Their Impossible kubideh in particular genuinely surprised me - in the best way. I don't usually gravitate toward meat substitutes at all, and I've tried making kubideh and ghormeh sabzi at home. It just never comes close to this. It's not often I find restaurants where the vegetarian options don't feel like an afterthought, but Kasra absolutely gets it right.
