    Somsa

We like to try different ethnic foods. This was a first: Uzbecki Plov Somsa Both were delicious! The flavor settles in after several seconds, resulting in a dance party for your taste buds. PLOV is their pilaf. We had the chicken. Somsa is like a meat pie in a flaky crust. The workers were friendly and helpful. The food was fresh. This place is in the corner of the food court.

I stopped at a couple places in the food hall and foreign grill was a nice place to get food from. They had friendly service and good food from a couple different places. I decided to get the pierogis. They were quite good but lacking in flavor compared to some of the foods at the other vendors.

    Sampler Mix Dumplings Plate

More of a 3.5 star. Came in late on a Friday, ordered the dumplings sampler plate and the khachapuri (basically a cheese boat with an egg) to share. The sampler had some crispy empanadas and soft dumplings, all nothing special but the best one was the potato stuffed empanadas. Dumplings were just something I could buy from a store quality. The cheese boat was okay too, fresh bread/bake, but I was not impressed. Nice owner and took about 15 mins for food, definitely still better than some of the options in Post, but I expect better quality for the price.

Wow, fantastic food here. Cool spot inside the Post Houston food hub. Seemed to specialize in central Asian / middle eastern food (Uzbek in particular). Had lamb and rice and it was fantastic. Fun to try something that isn't common here. Give it a try!

The golden bowl is what they have samples of before you order. The steak was supposed to be tender, but it was tough and chewy, and I only received three tiny pieces for a $10 steak add-on. I ordered my meal to go and didn't realize until I got home that my order was incorrect. I specifically ordered it with jollof rice, but I was given plain white rice instead. I tried to give the restaurant a chance to make things right by calling them. Instead of addressing my concerns, I was told they were busy and to call back in a few hours. That was frustrating, especially after spending $40 on a meal and an appetizer. Overall, the small portions, poor quality steak, incorrect order, and lack of immediate customer service made this one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

They had run out of beef ribs, so we ended up getting the pork chop instead, and it was really good! The mac and cheese with bacon was rich, cheesy, and delicious. The potato salad was a huge surprise, I'm usually not a potato salad person, but this one was a solid 10/10. The only thing I wouldn't recommend was this French-style side (it looked like a giant turd ). It was a 0/10 for me. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The peach cobbler was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really wow me compared to everything else. Overall, the food was incredible, especially the brisket. I'll definitely be coming back. 10/10, highly recommend!

I got brisket, a cheddar sausage link, one spare rib bone, and a side that wasn't memorable. The rib was really good (the cook, the flavor, and the sauce). The sausage was also good. I was disappointed with the brisket though. I had better brisket from a different restaurant while I was in Houston. Upon entry I was greeted with a unique aroma of spices and a bright and clean dining area. At the back of the restaurant on the self-service kiosk, I ordered two dipped and dusted chicken sandwich combos with fries for one order and the desi kimchi for the other along with the mango lassi drinks. The chicken on the sandwich was juicy, flavorful and paired well with the crunch of the lettuce and tanginess of the kimchi; not to mention the soft potato bun. The fries were seasoned well and tasted good with both the delicious and naughty sauces. The mango lassi was also good but interesting with a thick consistency and a pretty sweet flavor. Additionally the staff was friendly and prepared my order accurately. Overall, I had a great experience here, receiving fresh, tasty food at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend checking them out!

The setup is simple and unpretentious, but the food speaks for itself. I'm not sure what they put on that chicken, but it was incredibly well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It was juicy on the inside with a crispy, flavorful exterior. We also ordered the fries without the spicy seasoning since I don't do spicy, and they were absolutely amazing. Whatever seasoning they use is the real secret to this place. I couldn't stop eating them. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a delicious, satisfying meal without all the fuss.

While it's true no New Yorker would ever confuse this for the real thing, it was nice to see the option was around. And now that option has become a Gyro Hut. One of my biggest culture shocks in visiting Houston many years ago was seeing Halal Guys looking so different from what NY'ers would see on a nightly basis. There was dedicated parking, brightly lit interior, LCD menus, and employees with clean company branded uniforms (#2). None of them spoke Arabic and even referred to the gyro by its Greek pronunciation (#3). The lines for the first year were non-stop, as Houstonians were hyped for a taste of combo meats over rice and salad. Fast forward to nearly the present day, the lines have dissipated, the workers looked sad, and the food was even sadder. The latter boiled down to food quality: dry rice, bland chicken and gyro, and a very watery hummus that was hard to stomach without mixing everything together and dousing it all in white sauce. Despite its shortcomings, the place deserves its place in the Halal appreciation circle in the local dining scene. __________ (#1) The colloquial name before it became a franchise. (#2) Clean shirts while squirting white sauce in a container? Not a thing in NY. (#3) Yee-ro versus JAI-RO.
